🤍🎀 Towa, My Beloved 🐚💞
My first ever Dollfie Dream doll. Having her is surreal, it’s like looking at my dreams. She’s so beautiful! Not sure if i’ll ever re-name her but for now she with her set name.

After wanting this doll way back in 2010, I finally have a Sasara Dollfie Dream! She is my first vinyl doll so it’ll take some time getting used to her (she doesn’t creak and is so light!!). The seller was also super nice and included some cool freebies!
I wonder if Tetsuya will get jealous now that he’s not the only big doll in the house…

Dollfie Dream Sewing Book [Review]
Tumblr media
Summary
This is a pattern book for modern casual wear for Dollfie Dream dolls. The outfits you can put together are very feminine, the main components are blouses, skirts and dresses.
Patterns mainly use cottons and some stretch fabrics. Beautiful large format photos show how to style the pieces together, and give ideas on fabrics and prints that can be used.
There are also suggestions on how each piece can be customised such as changing the sleeve length.
Clear step-by-step photographic instructions show how to make each piece, I think I wouldn’t even need Google translate to follow them.
Pros
Large clear step-by-step photos
Decent number of patterns that combine nicely into outfits
Versatile patterns for basics that can be made again and again in different fabrics
Gives ideas to further customise each pattern, eg changing sleeve length and decoration ideas
Patterns for cute accessories included - that handbag!
Patterns included as a pull out at the back (I would recommend photocopying them so you can reuse them and make use of both sides of the pattern paper)
Cons
Only for Dollfie Dream, I wish it at least included MDD sizes
Only feminine patterns included - just something to keep in mind but not exactly a con depending on what you are looking for

Final Thoughts
A definite must buy for Dollfie Dream owners. Very beginner friendly so recommended for novices. More experienced sewists should also be able to alter the patterns to fit other SD dolls without too much trouble. In my opinion this is a great addition to my pattern collection and I would recommend it.

I’ve gotten into a little obsession that started out on Pinterest. I was pinning posts of figures of anime’s I’ve watched. I’ve always wanted to have my own collection of figures but never really had the cash or bravery to buy one. (I wouldn’t know how to explain it to my parents, who already are a bit weirded out when I watch anime. Mostly my mom.) Anywho while going deeper in to find more posts to pin, I also started seeing some post on dollfie dolls and I couldn’t stop thinking how pretty or customizable they are! Now my Pinterest bored that used to be filled with different figurens I’d love to have someday are now filled with dollfie dolls or different BJD. I mean look at this one!
Tumblr media
She’s so pretty and I’ve heard that you can change their hair or eyes! Which just makes it better because if you get bored of one look, you can change it for another! Plus you can dress them up and so on! Problem is I don’t know where to start, I’ve gone onto volks USA and found little options of the types to buy from. I’m going to buy one that I at least liked a lot then the others and she’s beginner friendly, Dollfie Dream Dynamite Towa (DD-f3), I don’t have much confidence in making my own one so despite her being expensive($526) at least I can change her hair and eyes for something different. If anyone sees this and knows more pls tell me!

hi!! i love your art + ocs they are so cool i know you have an art FAQ but i was wondering if u had one for your dollies? i actually have been getting into them recently bc of you :D i was kinda just wondering about like models you have/where you got them from/where you get clothes for them from etc. im more interested in smaller scale ones generally but still if u wanna share anything that would be cool :3 thank you!! p.s. i love the 3d sculpts/prints you do for them its so cool....
thank you!!! i didnt think i'd get anyone into dolls actually lmfao
zephyr doll is an imomodoll 75, with jointed hands from DF-H
rali doll is a wip but she has an obitsu 50 skeleton/shins/feet/arms/hands, angel philia thighs, dollfie dream dynamite hips, and a dollfie dream flat L bust... shes a piece of fuckin work
their heads are sculpted by me with luv... hehe
anywho i usually get my clothes from luts! they carry a lot of nice stuff for zephyr's size (a whopping 2 feet tall...) i havent looked around for much stuff for rali yet. they also make dolls themselves as well
i actually ordered directly from imomodoll's tao bao shop via a proxy (super buy) to get zephyr's doll body which idk. i dont really recommend it's scary as fuck navigating that site. as for rali, i ordered the original obitsu 50 cm from parabox.jp and hybrided/modified the dollfie dream parts (ordered from the volks usa site) onto the skeleton. I got the AP thigh parts from faithz
if you're interested in smaller scale bjds I reccomend 1/6 scale lil guys. they're about 30cm tall usually (around barbie doll height) but typically, from what i know about, have more chibi/child-like proportions!
i've heard good things about tinyfox's 1/6 line and also imomodoll's 1/6 line - they're both vinyl bjds and have an internal skeleton as opposed to a resin bjd which are strung tightly with elastic. also i will say imomodoll and tinyfox have some suprisingly cheapo prices (around 200 iirc???) for their fullsets which include a faceup/wig/clothes/eyes/etc along with the doll itself.
i'm anti recast (which everyone should be btw. dont steal people's art. jesus) so i dont reccommend anyone shop for dolls themselves (like heads/bodies/etc) on aliexpress, temu, ebay or etsy--- they're usually stolen from the artists.
sites i can reccomend for buying legit doll stuff is alice's collection, jane's doll land, clover singing, and i think i've heard good things about stacy's pink ocean but i can't remember lol. those sites i just linked carry all sorts of stuff from official dolls to clothes and accessories to maintenance items.
if you're interested in getting vinyl dolls i recommend starting with an obitsu parabox like i did! they're cheaper than dollfie dreams and if you dont like their head sculpts for their dolls it's mega easy to mod a DD head onto one.
thank you!! ill probs make a doll faq soon so this doesnt get lost.

the boob size on the DDdy body is a little extreme but the normal dollfie dream waist is way too skinny in my opinion and the dynamite booba bothers me less than that

Out of curiosity, how do you make your patterns? Do you drape, pattern flat, both??
I drape all of my initial slopers for the different doll bodies I have. I find draping is the only way to get a good fit on dolls, especially those with atypical proportions, such as Dollfie Dream Dynamite or super-muscular guys.
I drape garments in stretch fabric for stretchy items; socks, t-shirts, tights, leggings, etc.
I trace my completed fabric slopers/patterns onto paper to preserve them, and scan them into my computer as backup, in case I misplace my binder of doll slopers.
From there, I can use the slopers I made to flat-draft all kinds of garment patterns!
I occasionally use traditional pattern drafting software to quickly generate basic flat-drafted patterns or slopers for myself (human clothes/cosplay) and dolls, but I find these always need a lot of fitting adjustments before I'm happy with how it looks, so I do prefer to work with my own draped slopers.
