why do some people say shared interests within systems are unrealistic? i've seen systems say that since alters are supposed to be very distinct individuals with their own personalities, many alters having the same interests shouldn't be common. which is just objectively wrong in my opinion.
i've been living with this pokémon-obsessed-loser for almost ten years, how on earth could i avoid getting into pokémon after spending half of my life watching ixs nuzlockes and playthroughs and stay up all night beating the same pokemon game twice a week?
and how can my headmates not be somewhat fond of the books i read and know all about my favorite characters when that is all i talk about?
bike knows all the words to The Raven because i memorized the whole thing two years ago. and i could navigate through johto and sinnoh with my eyes closed because of how many times i saw bike do it.
when your best friend is extremely into one thing, chances are you'll get into it as well. maybe not as much, but you'll find yourself enjoying things you never thought you'd enjoy because the people you live with talk a lot about it.
my sister absolutely loves masterchef, something i never thought i would like to watch, but now every time we find a new season on youtube we watch it together because, even though masterchef isn't my favorite thing in the world, i got into it because someone with whom i've lived my whole life loves to watch it
having shared interests isn't unrealistic in any way. if you're part of a system and many if not most of your headmates share similar or the same interest and you see someone talk about how that's unrealistic, ask them if they've never started watching a show because a friend or family member watches it. or if they've never listened to their friends talk about their spin for so long they started liking it as well. what is unrealistic is that your opinions are so strong and unwavering that nothing, not even being forced to watch hours of content about the same thing, could change how much you like a certain topic.
