yeah so i don't think i've ever posted my face on here. but i have a couple of con selfies that i liked. so i thought why not be bold for once.

my makeup and contour had mostly come off by the time i took these rip. so they're not good pictures of the cosplay at all but listen i like them in general.

#the real mvp here is the sfx cut make up for lasting longer than everything except the eye liner. #the jacket was hot as hell and itchy after a while and i don't wear waterproof anything #so i ended up carrying it around half the time because h o t #helpful outside but bad in crowds #personal #do i need a face tag? maybe. #eccc2024 #cosplay or something #i'm glad i only chose to do leon this year because it's the comfiest #and with my chronic pain acting up like crazy on saturday I was able to take a break without fighting with giant props and platform heels

ECCC 2024 day 1 (Thursday) casual photos and blog.

We wore some EGL and enjoyed an easy going first day of con. Brought a packed lunch with some extra treats from Kiki's Bakery. My taro bun matched my coord and nails. 🤩

Did most our shopping this day.

Decompressed in the Tavern. I LOVE that the Washington Ren Faire folks were there. Always the best interactions! 😂 Amber got netted by Wotan the Fairy Smasher.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s @emeraldcitycomiccon 2024!

This was my first time attending a general “comic” con. In the past, I’ve only attended anime conventions with the exception of a horror convention (CryptiCon) a few years ago. The biggest difference between these more generalized comic-cons vs. anime-cons is that comic-cons tend to place more of an emphasis on American/Western comics, fandoms, and pop culture whereas anime-cons focus on Japanese/East Asian comics, fandoms, and pop culture. ECCC in particular is focused on superhero and science fiction fandoms. The largest fandom that I saw represented cosplay-wise was Star Wars. This could be due to the release of their new trading card game through Disney. It’s interesting to see the differences between these two convention cultures, it helps with understanding their target audiences.

Since I was only attending this con for one day and it’s held during the off-season for cosplay, I chose to put together a “pseudo-cosplay” from clothing items that I already owned vs. building an entirely new one from scratch. I call this look “Franken-cyberpunk.” I took a normal outfit of mine, slapped some green body paint on, and voila an OC is born! I felt like this aesthetic would best fit the theme of the con.

There were two dudes at ECCC 2024 cosplaying as Dick Winters and either Bull or Speirs.

I'm sorry to the second cosplayer for not being sure. But I blue-screened seeing someone go by in the Eisenhower jacket with red hair and a WINTERS nametag and could barely string sentences together because I literally never thought I'd see that.

Great cosplays on both of them, FYI. And A+ banter when I said, "Dick, what are you doing here??? There's a war in Europe!"

So, if you were at ECCC in those costumes and a rando ghostbuster just seemed to say weird shit, that was me.
