Chapter summary: Elvis and Evelyn meet, and there's a pull the hunter feels toward the vampire immediately. Elvis' slip of the tongue is merely the start of their reconnection.

➺ EVELYN'S POV.

Reading his name on the marquee shouldn't make me as on edge as it did. I was never this tense before an assignment - sure, there was always a sense of nerves bubbling in the pit of my stomach before a job but that was normal. It was a feeling I believed every hunter experienced. But this was different and I did not like it one bit.

What was it about the raven haired singer that made me want to jump out of my skin?

A question that plagued my mind the entire ride to the International Hotel two days after my father assigned me to this job, a question I wasn't able to answer for myself.

I wasn't sure if anybody could.

Every job was different. Ones that involved people of higher ranks and with status, or in this case a famous person, I had to work more thoroughly and more carefully. Meaning, I had to try and infiltrate myself into Elvis's inner circle and that of his close knit fans. I forced myself to ignore the weird feeling that spread from my tummy to my chest and emerged myself into the world of Elvis Presley - perfectly playing the role of a girl who traveled to Vegas with her two best friends to see their favorite singer in the flesh.

The hotel was swarmed with vampires, mostly in the casino portion of it. I could sense them, but they couldn't pinpoint me on a supernatural level - magic had its loopholes, luckily for me.

Aside from the bloodsuckers crawling the place, it was also full of Elvis fans of all ages and even a celebrity wandering in and out of the casino here and there.

Barely anyone paid them any attention because they were all too focused on spending their money at the merchandise stands before the show started.

While most of the gals in the showroom were parading around in their best gowns or mod dresses so short one couldn't bend over without giving the person behind them a glipse of colorful panties, I was dressed in a pair of white skinny jeans and my white Ossie Clark tie-front blouse that showed a healthy amount of cleavage. After all, I had to fit in and since no one could pay me enough to wear the kind of sequined dress Ruby was blinding me with, I deemed my current outfit just fine for the evening.

Besides, fighting off vampires if I had to was inconvenient in a dress and my white pants went well with the equally white holster disguised as a belt where my wooden bullet loaded hand gun was resting underneath my blouse.

Ruby had come into my room earlier to curl my hair despite my protests. I didn't wanted to over-do it, but she insisted we'd have a little fun on the job since tonight wasn't the night we'd make the hit.

We'd be staying at the hotel for two weeks, the whole duration that was left of Elvis' residency, pretending we were tourists and fans.

Ruby and I were seated in a booth with Eli in the middle front of the show room, located right behind the dining tables that were pushed against the stage Elvis Presley was currently singing his heart out on. I didn't blame Ruby and Eli for having a little bit of fun and watching the show while my eyes scanned the crowd for any other vampires lingering around.

I didn't exactly need my two friends with me and if it wasn't for the VHA's rule of always having to work in a team when it came to the stronger bloodsuckers, I would've come here alone.

Killing vampires was what I was made for. My idea of fun was dragging a stake through Elvis' heart, instead of watching him perform on stage.

Spotting what I figured was his entourage wasn't so hard. They hid by the curtains at the back of the stage, wandered through the crowd and stood by the exit of the showroom like a guard of the Royal Palace. It made me wonder if the hotel knew what kind of creatures Elvis and his entourage really were - were they in the dark about all of it, or compelled to keep their mouth shut?

I had no idea, but I had two weeks to find out.

For the entire show, I managed to keep my eyes off of the raven haired singer, but it was proving to be difficult.

Dressed in an all black suit that reminded me a little of a karate chi, his hair moving along with his sometimes wild movements and a bit of his tan chest showing, the vampire was hard not to gawk at. I wasn't blind - I could obviously see that he was gorgeous. Not to mention, he was a fantastic singer and a great performer. He drew the people in like a magnet, had girls at the front tables looking up at him as if he was the one who parted the sea. I wasn't going to deny the strong energy he had, but I knew it wasn't a human energy.

He was the master, the audience his puppets.

I looked anywhere but at him, focusing my attention on the background singers for a little bit until I recognized the start of the song "Love Me Tender" and the screams in the crowd suddenly got a little more frantic. I located the singer quickly who after kissing a few girls in the front row suddenly jumped off the stage and made his way through the people with two bodyguards in tow. I heard Ruby giggling as he came closer and closer and I cursed myself for not taking up Eli's offer to sit in the middle of the booth but on the outside instead.

Before I could hide away in the small crowd of girls that gathered in front of our booth, he spotted me.

He was coming right at me, outstretched hand cupping the side of my neck before I could even make another move. His eyes were more blue than I had expected and for the first time in my vampire hunting career, I was caught off guard.

And as he leaned in and pressed a kiss right onto my lips, I was stunned.

I felt my blood run cold, goosebumps licking at my skin as he pulled back, looked at me with those piercing eyes and gave me a little smile that seemed surprisingly warm hearted.

And oddly familiar.

Suddenly, I didn't want him to leave. As if I was compelled, which was impossible due to the vervain necklace that was always around my neck, I wanted him to kiss me again. Hold onto him, and have him hold onto me.

There was an emotion in his eyes that I didn't recognize, couldn't quite put my finger on, as I grabbed his wrist. He looked down at my hand for a second that seemed to drag on as if it were hours, but before he or I could say or do anything else, one of his bodyguards ushered him off and back toward the stage.

And just like that, Elvis Presley had me mesmerized, even if it had only been for mere seconds...

No.

No, I wasn't just another airheaded girl that would kiss the feet of some singer.

Beautiful specimen, or not.

"I.. I.." I looked at Ruby and Eli, who were looking at me with worried eyes, and a hint of annoyance I detected in Eli's blue ones. "I'm going out for a walk. Go back to your rooms after the show, alright?"

"Evelyn, wait!"

"Leave her be, Eli," I could hear Ruby say, probably holding Eli back from following me, but I didn't see it as I was already rushing my way out of the showroom.

The hotel bar was empty aside from the bartender as I stepped into it. Noises of slot machines whirling from the casino wandered through the lobby and into the bar but it wasn't the usual buzz, since most of the hotel's guests were currently in the showroom, enjoying Elvis' show.

I liked the quiet, needing it to clear my head, get my focus back. Nursing a martini, I forced myself to think about the fact that Elvis Presley was a vampire.

The charm, the flirty smiles he gave the girls... it was all a big show.

Closing my eyes, I allowed pictures of mutilated bodies to flash before them. Bitten and marked. Blood everywhere.

These girls hadn't stand a chance against the monster they'd been up against.

And that monster was Elvis.

The way I felt in that short moment back in the showroom wasn't important.

I had been caught up in the moment, lost my focus, and for that I felt myself growing more and more annoyed at myself.

"Aren't you supposed to be enjoying the show? You know, most girls don't run off after being kissed by the boss,"

My eyes shot open, looking to my right to find one of the stiff Royal Guard-wannabe standing there. I put my guard up immediately, straightening my shoulders as I sat up and kept my hand around the stem of my glass.

"Aren't you supposed to be working?" I shot back, trying not to sound too mean.

"Who says I'm here for work?"

"You stood by that door all night, looking all moody and broody, to see if anyone was putting your boss in danger," I emphasized the word 'boss' and raised an eyebrow, a grin curling on my lips as I looked at the smaller man next to me. "What is it you guys get called again? The Memphis Mafia?"

He sat down next to and ordered a beer, laughing. "You're a fan,"

"Of Elvis? Ofcourse. The Memphis Mafia? Not so sure.." I lied. Obviously I knew who their boss was before tonight, but I'd only heard about his entourage when reading up on this job when I got it.

If I remember correctly from the folder my father had given me, I was currently talking to Richard Davis. Started working for Elvis after his army stint, doing... well, God knows what.

"Ouch," he grinned, taking a sip of his beer. "If that's the case, then why are you drinking alone while the show's still going on in there?"

I had to play my cards right here. After all, this is what I came here to do - to infiltrate, and kill a few vampires. Unfortunately for Richard, he was the first on my list, I decided.

"Oh well, I don't like to have to fight for a man's attention and it's pretty crowded at the show," I made sure my voice sounded as sweet as honey, leaning in a little closer to him. And when I put my hand on his arm and he looked at me with a smug grin, I knew I had him. "And I'm not drinking alone, am I?"

Men were so simply, even the ones with fangs.

Part of my job was to take on roles that the occasion called for. I'd become a pretty damn good actress over the years, fooling plenty of vampires and Richard was no different.

I let him kiss me and grope my ass as we stumbled through the quiet hallway of the floor his room was on. He thought he was going to get lucky tonight, that he'd still both his hunger for blood and sex, but what he didn't realize was that I was the lucky one.

Before he could get me in his room, I allowed him to push me against the door and kiss my neck. A risky move since I was always taught to never let these creatures near your neck, so I moved quick as I put a few small vervain petals on my tongue and then grabbed his face, feverishly kissing him again.

In the process, I pushed the vervain into his mouth and then clamped my hand over his lips, squeezing his nose shut. In a reflex, he swallowed and as the vervain burned his throat, I pushed him off and kicked him in the stomach as hard as I could. He stumbled backwards against the door of his opposite neighbor, clawing at his throat as blood sputtered out from between his lips. It gave me the time to draw my gun, shooting three wooden bullets in his chest, missing his heart on purpose.

The splinters would travel to the muscle eventually, bringing him a slow and excruciating death.

"Take me to the penthouse. Now."

The penthouse of the International was gorgeous, but I didn't let myself get distracted. I couldn't let what happened in the showroom happen again, no matter how small the lose of focus had been.

I had dragged Richard's body into the room as he opened the door for me and now he was laying in the middle of the entrance, moaning and groaning in pain on the marble floor. I could just finish him off right then and there because I already got where I needed to be, but I kinda liked hearing him in agony.

The screams of the previous victims must have been ten times worse, I bet.

This was nothing but justice. Karma. It was the way the world turned - especially the supernatural one.

I helped myself to a drink, needing just a tiny bit more liquid courage before the man of the hour arrived.

But when he did, I regret not downing the whole damn bottle.

He came in with a few of his guys behind him and a girl on his side. I prepared myself for battle right away while at the same time worrying about the human girl's life as she looked around and had no idea what was going on.

But the raven haired man took me and everybody by surprise.

"Red, take everybody outta this room,"

A ginger haired man, ironically going by the name Red, stepped forward to take care of Richard as the human girl was pushed into the arms of another male and ushered out of the room. Elvis looked at Red and shook his head, silently telling to leave the body be.

"Well," Elvis spoke up as the door closed behind him and the only ones left in the room were him and I, and Richard. His voice suddenly sounded deafening, but I kept my ground, shoulders straight. "I don't usually have girls breaking into my room and knockin' out one of my guys,"

"First time for everything," I blurted out as I flashed him a sarcastic smile, watching him kneel down beside Richard and grab his face, squeezing the other vampire's blood covered lips together. "And your security team is shit, by the way."

Elvis let go of Richard's face and looked at me, letting out a hearty laugh that spread a warmth through my entire being. It made me want to jump out of the damn window.

What was wrong with me?!

"You didn't finish him off,"

"I needed this," I said as I held up the key Richard had opened the door with earlier, forcing the strange feeling this vampire was giving me to vanish and keep my façade up. "I don't rob dead bodies. And it's not like he deserves a quick death, I'm sure."

Elvis squinted his eyes a little as he looked at me and I noticed they weren't as sparkling blue like they were in the showroom. His vampiric face wasn't on display and his eyes were naturally still blue, but there was like a storm cloud was lingering above his head.

And then it faded away as quickly as it came and he let out a laugh, nodding his head a little as he rolled up the sleeves of his jacket. Before I could even speak up again, he turned back to Richard and dragged his hand right through his chest. The already dying vampire released a blood-curdling scream as splatters of crimson splashed against Elvis' arm and without a second thought, he retracted his arm to hold up Richard's heart.

"You're absolutely right, sweetheart. My security is shit."

If he'd expect me to scream and cry in horror, he was sorely mistaken.

I've seen things that no nightmare could compare to.

The bloody piece of muscle landed on the floor with a soft thud as it rolled out of Elvis' hand and this time, I was taken by surprise by the singer.

He stood up straight and before I knew it, my back was pressed against the nearest wall and I had the vampire looking down at me with those blue eyes. This time, there was a hint of mischief in them. He wrapped his larger hand around my smaller one, the key still in my palm.

"Keep the key. Ya look like you'll be mighty fine company,"

I didn't realize I was holding my breath until I released it in a frustrated scoff. He had released my hand now and placed both his hands on the wall behind me, trapping me in between the marble and his taller frame. My muscles felt intensely tight and I was positive he could hear my heart beating frantically against my ribcage, but still I kept up the act.

I wasn't scared of him. I've faced enough monsters not to be. Adrenaline? Maybe so... but there was something else. Something that put me on edge around this man, something that made me want to be in his presence despite the dominant aura around him.

I couldn't put my finger on it, and it frustrated me to no end.

"I'm afraid I can't say the same thing about you," I spat out, keeping my hands firmly at my side, squeezing the key into my palm. I wasn't drawing any blood, but the small sting kept me somewhat level headed. At least, that's what I forced to tell myself.

He laughed, showing his pearly white teeth.

Mysterious, dark... he was dangerously beautiful.

"You'd be the first.." His whisper was low as he leaned in a little closer, so close I could feel his warm breath on my face. But the smell of blood on his hands right next to my head pulled me back to reality before my weak side could close my eyes and kiss him.

"I'm sure the girls you murder in this very room would agree with me, don't you think?"

At that, he pulled back enough to look me straight in the eyes and I cursed myself for missing the closeness as he pushed himself off the wall and stood straight.

This is a murderer, Evelyn. Get your head straight.

I watched as he let out a deep sigh and walked over to the liquor cart in the dining room of the penthouse, pouring himself a glass of golden liquor. I decided not to stay glued to the wall as a scared little duckling and boldly followed him, grazing my fingers over my holster underneath my blouse.

Still there.

I spoke up louder than before on purpose so it masked the sound of my holster clicking open. "I saw the girl you brought up to the room in the crowd tonight. Is that how you pick them, Mr. Presley?"

He downed his drink and put his glass back down with force, turning around and not looking the least surprised I was standing there with my gun drawn.

In my mind, I figured I could take the shot and end it right then and there.

But in my heart, I knew I was getting ahead of myself.

He was no ancient one, but even with a vampire like him, I knew he wasn't going to go down without a fight. I only had my gun with me and two petals of vervain left in my pocket, my stakes and other weapons having been left behind in my room because I didn't plan for this to happen tonight.

I shouldn't be here. I was supposed to plan things out like I'd always do, make sure I was ready for the most important portion of the job.

But I had been precarious. Messy, even.

Maybe I was losing my touch, or maybe Elvis Presley made me lose my touch.

"Now now, little Miss van Helsing," Before I could blink, he was behind me, bending my arm behind my back which made me drop my gun. He had one arm around my throat with just enough pressure to make me gasp in shock, his other arm tightly wound around my waist. "I could snap you in half if I wanted to, but I'm giving you the chance to walk away... so be a smart girl and take. The. Chance."

I grabbed onto his arm that was around my throat but he didn't even budge when I dug my nails into his flesh. He wasn't using a lot of pressure and I could still breathe, which I was doing frantically due to the adrenaline.

Or because my back was currently pressed against his chest and I liked the way he towered over me...

But I ignored those thoughts the best I could and grunted as I steadied my breathing, releasing the dead grip I had on his arm. He'd mistaken the action for me calming down and doing what he wanted me to do but as he let go of me and shuffled backwards a little, I turned and landed a roundhouse kick right to his face.

As I left him dazed for a few seconds, I sprinted toward my gun that had slid a few feet away from us across the marble floor. Picking it up, I turned around to aim it at him, gasping as he was already right in front of me again and grabbing my hands, pushing the barrell of my hand gun against his own chest.

"You never were one to quit," he smirked, the words going right over my head as he stepped forward and made me step backwards in the process. "Do it then, sweetheart. Pull the trigger,"

His voice was dangerously low, but there was a hint of vulnerability in his eyes. I tried to think of all the lives he'd taken, but they were starting to slip and fade away into darkness one by one. I looked up at him with wide eyes, trying to keep my two feet still but it was like I was slowly losing all control of my body.

I didn't come to a halt until my back once more met a wall and I was trapped.

"I knew this day would come eventually. You have a job to do, so do it, Evelyn,"

My heart felt like it stopped beating right there and then. In that very moment, as my name so casually rolled off his tongue, the world stopped spinning - even if it was only for one tiny second.

Confusion mixed with nerves were dropped on me like a bucket of ice water.

As I looked at him in shock, there was a flash of panic swimming in his ocean blue orbs.

"H-How... How do you.. How do you know my name?"

"What do you blog about on well… this blog?"

I write Identity V x reader headcanons, shorts, and drabbles! I will potentially post some art and stories of my OC that I created for the game as well, and rarely will I share my Canon Character x OC works.

"Whats is your gender focus for readers, Saey?"

I try really hard to make the majority of my works gender-neutral so my headcanons are available to a wide audience of people. I do not often write male!readers as I am not comfortable with it. I do write a good portion of female!readers, however. It just depends on the vibe I try to go for in a headcanon and for comfort's sake!

"What characters will you write about?"

To be honest, I am not sure •᷄ࡇ•᷅ I really like writing boys, and I am looking forward to writing a lot about my favorite character Joker! However, this doesn't hinder me from writing about really cute girls! Below, I will provide a list of all the characters I am willing to write about, so please reference it before requesting, or your request can and will be deleted! ♡

"Do you provide warnings on your headcanons?"

I always have and always will! The format above the image space will always contain the prompt/request, the hunter/survivor and the identity, warnings, the reader's gender, and an author's note!

"How can I request?"

I would really prefer it if you sent a request in the following format:

Provide the hunter or survivor's name + alias [example: Can you write for Joker (Weeping Clown)...]

Provide if you would like headcanons, shorts, or a drabble*

Provide the prompt/idea you have [1-5 sentence preference!]

Provide any additional comments you have for me please!

I would prefer if requests were formatted this way for the sake of clarity. If you provide too much in the prompt/idea, chances are I will not respond to it, as I like room to have some creative freedom! Plus, requesting in this format makes it much easier for me to know what you would like!

*Guide to type requesting: Headcanons are bullet pointed and short, with summarized ideas of how I see the relationship between the reader and a character. They do not have fleshed out sentences and tend to be brief, short, and simple; Shorts are short stories that are bullet pointed! They can be easily compared to oneshots, except on my blog I bullet point them to make it easier to read; Drabbles are my own ideas that are brief and unformatted entirely (<100 words) or fleeting ideas without a guided plot. They are just for me to test new ideas I never tried before.

"When will I be taking requests?"

I usually will let you all know in a blog post so be on the lookout for those, because they will pop up! Usually I will take 3-5 requests at a time, depending on what is requested

"Are there limitations to how much or what I request?"

I tend to not have any limitations when it comes to what my readers can or cannot request, let alone how many requests you send to me! If you have seen my past works, you probably know I am a dark / 18+ / angst writer first and foremost. Don't let that stop you from requesting fluff or soft content though, because there is a chance I can create something if I am inspired! However, I will not write any mature headcanons for canonically underage Identity V champions. There will be no exceptions to this.

Arthur Morgan X Male OC - Names Aren’t Everything

The fire sparked to life after a third try and Arthur finally leaned away from the growing flames to get into a more comfortable sitting position. Dallas sat beside him, looking up at the wide array of stars above their heads. The both of them kept silent, simply enjoying each other’s company.

The gang had just moved out of Horseshoe Overlook to their new spot, Clemens Point, because of the fiasco with Dutch, Arthur, John and Herr Strauss running into Leviticus Cornwall in Valentine. They'd been lucky to escape with their lives.

Soon after arriving at the new camp, Arthur decided to go hunting to bring some food in, inviting Dallas along with him. Dallas had been with the gang for about a month before what happened in Blackwater, and he was glad to still be with the gang now. Dutch had taken him under his wing, much like he had with Arthur and John when he first found them, as well as Micah, and Dallas was grateful to be a part of this family.

And as time moved along, it just so happened Arthur and Dallas got closer. Closer to the point that one would even consider them lovers. Not that it was a bad thing. The gang was definitely okay with it. Hell, the first time Arthur and Dallas had shared a kiss without the hidden comfort of one of their tents, they had heard the cheers from Sean, John, and some others, even some of the ladies. And their growing relationship was the exact reason Arthur had invited Dallas to go hunting with him.

Dusk had already been creeping upon them by the time the two rode out of camp, and they had managed to catch a rabbit to share between each other before going out the next day for bigger game.

Something gnawed at Dallas’s mind as he lowered his head to stare into the fire, debating whether he should tell Arthur this or not. It didn’t feel right to be hiding something from him, but at the same time this was something Dallas had not told anyone about. He took a deep breath, glancing at Arthur for a small moment before looking at the flames again.

“Elijah.”

Arthur raised an eyebrow, looking over at his companion. “What?”

Dallas looked at him, and Arthur could see the apprehension in his eyes. “My first name. It’s Elijah.” he said. Arthur was still rather confused. “Why’re you called Dallas then?” “Dallas is my middle name.” He stated, though he knew that wasn’t clearing anything up. “Have you heard of a man named Elijah Clark?”

Arthur had to think for a moment, the name sounded familiar. “The man who shot up a bunch of towns out west and killed and robbed too many innocent folk?” Arthur now remembered hearing about that, and for a moment he gave the other a look. “That wasn’t you, was it?”

Dallas shook his head. “That’s the reason I go by Dallas, though. He is my cousin, and we had the unfortunate luck of looking alike, as well as sharing the same first name. I’ve been falsely accused of his crimes way too much.” He paused for a minute to let that sink in. Arthur gave a small nod, that made sense for that then. “So I started introducing myself as Dallas, and I did whatever I could to change my appearance to look different from him. I got lucky that he almost never shaves, so I try to keep my beard as small as possible.”

Arthur gave another nod, taking in all the information. He then gave a small grin, wrapping his arm around the other’s shoulders. “For what it’s worth, I like you just the way ya are.” That earned a smile from Dallas. “Thank you, Arthur.” Arthur then seemed to be thinking about something and looked over at Dallas with an eyebrow raised in question. “Can I call you Eli? When it’s just the two of us...of course.” Dallas felt his cheeks heat up involuntarily at the question, and it took him a moment to recover before a smile crossed his face. “Sure. I’d like that.” Arthur gave a grin, leaning over to meet Dallas’s lips. “Good.”
