It's been a tough year in a lot of ways, but one thing I've been able to consistently count on to bring me joy is the incredible writing in this fandom! I feel like 2023 has been almost a golden age of Tarlos fic. With both the sheer quantity AND quality of fic, it has been a wonderful time to be a Tarlos fic reader! In celebration of this golden age, I wanted to share a list of some of the fic that brought me the most joy in the past year.
Of course, this is not a comprehensive list...as much as I may want to, I can't possibly read everything this fandom has to offer. There's still a lot to get to on my to-read list. And even from the fic I did read, I'm sure I'm forgetting some amazing ones. There's just SO MUCH. But here I have listed (alphabetic by author) some of the fic that most resonated with me the past year, fic that I still think about and reread, and fic that has taken up full time residence in my brain!
There are A LOT...so I'll be putting the list under the cut.
all my blood for the sweetness of his laugh by @alrightbuckaroo
A truly beautiful little fic about Carlos' feelings about TK's laugh. A bit of angst and a lot of love.
anger has told me her real name is grief by alrightbuckaroo
An excellent 4x17/4x18 fic that deals a lot with Carlos' grief and the journey he goes through in those two episodes.
my beatin' heart belongs to you by bartsy
A fic about Carlos' anxiety after the death of his father, manifested in his fears for the safety of his husband. This fic is so beautiful and very in character. I would love it so much if the show would go even a tiny bit in the direction of exploring Carlos' anxiety!
It Beats for You by @basilsunrise
A 4x04 coda, porn with feelings and bottom Carlos...truly, what more could I ask for?? Very hot and SO MANY feelings!
she has almost killed me with love for that boy by @beautifulhigh
Another 4x04 coda (there can never be enough) that's also a study of the different types of love, all of which Carlos has in his life.
How quickly we change overnight by @birdclowns
A pre-canon fic about TK and his relationship with Alex. I particularly love this kind of thing where we have so little concrete information in canon. It's a perfect opportunity for fic, and I really love this one. Alex could easily be handled as some horrible villain, but the way he's handled here is far more realistic and I think it makes my heart break for TK even more.
Even if the World Ends Tomorrow by @bonheur-cafe
A post-apocalypse AU that's a little terrifying but ultimately very hopeful. This is one that I kept thinking about long after I read it.
can i be close to you? by @catanisspicy
A 5+1 fic about TK asking Carlos if he'd still love him if he was a worm. A true delight! This is another fic I still think about all the time.
slowly, then all at once by catanisspicy
A fic about TK and Carlos loving each other, which is one of my favorite things in the world.
The Center of the Maze by @carlos-in-glasses
7 times TK and Carlos thought they would never get married and one time they actually did. This fic covers so many of the most significant moments of their relationship and is so very beautifully written. I think my favorite part is (predictably) the section related to the soulmates scene.
When Soulmates Swim by carlos-in-glasses
A wonderful AU where TK and Carlos get to know each other while swimming together. It's everything: hot, sweet, beautiful, poignant, and sometimes incredibly hilarious.
Release the Hand to Relax the Animal by carlos-in-glasses
A fic that's all about touch and the great sex, past and present, that TK and Carlos have had. A true masterpiece.
We Have Suffered Enough by @chicgeekgirl89
A 4x16 coda. Oh, the soulmates scene! I'm automatically going to love anything even remotely soulmates scene-adjacent, and this one is particularly beautiful.
Shiner by chicgeekgirl89
A 4x15 coda dealing with Carlos finding out about TK's black eye, which is something I desperately wanted to see on screen. I love the way it goes here. It's incredibly sweet.
Cold Feet by @cold-blooded-jelly-doughnut
A lovely little fic that has Carlos feeling some big feelings about his soon-to-be husband.
When I'm Like This by cold-blooded-jelly-doughnut
An early season 1 Tarlos fic with a lot of angst and feelings, which is always one of my favorite things. This one is ridiculously hot, yet also filled with so much emotion and feelings and gorgeous writing. Just thinking about it makes me want to reread!
to build a home by @freneticfloetry
A Carlos character study, from pre-series through season 4. If there was ever a character I wanted to study, it's Carlos Reyes. And this fic is beautifully done, expertly exploring the complexities of his character and the gaps canon has left to be filled.
The Sting by @goodways
Shortly after they're married, Carlos gets involved in an FBI sting operation that requires him to go on a date and flirt with another man, something that TK is not thrilled about. This fic is at times funny, emotional, hot and sweet.
First night by goodways
The first time TK and Carlos have sex and all the feelings and attempted avoidance of feelings that comes with it. So many feelings!!!
Take my hand, take my whole life, too by @heartstringsduet
HANDS. What more could I ask for? This fic is an absolutely gorgeous exploration of TK and Carlos' intimacy across their whole lives together. I'm ready to tear up just thinking about it!
But most of it was beautiful by heartstringsduet
An at-home Tarlos honeymoon fic. I call a lot of fic on this list beautiful, but sometimes there's no better word. This fic is beautiful.
broken glass by @irispurpurea
A beautiful, heartbreaking exploration of Carlos' grief. It's all fragmented and non-linear, which only adds to how moving and powerful it is.
a little bit more by krissyloowhoo
An installment of a series in which TK and Carlos adopt a baby girl. This one features Carlos in love with what a good dad TK is.
Stand your brand of love by @ladytessa74
A Tarlos honeymoon fic written prior to the end of the season. This was a go-to reread for me in the weeks leading up to the finale. Even now, when it's no longer technically canon compliant, the emotions hit just as hard.
How I linger to admire by ladytessa74
This fic is pretty much my dream season 5. It has everything: Carlos solving his father's murder, TK and Carlos getting held at gunpoint, and Lou II saving the day. Several items on my wish list for season 5 were directly inspired by reading this fic.
Do it all over again by ladytessa74
TK tries for a do over of the proposal because he thinks Carlos deserves better, which leads to a series of funny, adorable and touching moments. The writing is beautiful, and it even inspired a cross stitch! I have many favorite things about Tessa's writing, but one of my very favorite things is the way she writes the intimacy and affection and touch between TK and Carlos. This fic is filled with some of my favorite examples of that.
All Your Colors Make Me Feel Alive by @lemonlyman-dotcom
This wonderful fic uses the music of Beck to explore moments in TK and Carlos' relationship. Angst and fluff: the best combination.
I'm Not A Fortress, But I Will Try To Protect You by lemonlyman-dotcom
TK and Marjan have a conversation in the wake of the events of 2x04. One of my favorite parts of Lemon's writing is the incredible amount of backstory detail, most particularly the friendship between TK and Marjan. There are hints of this in canon, but here it's beautifully developed and I love it so much.
Call Me If You Get Lost by lemonlyman-dotcom
TK and Carlos go for a romantic weekend while also looking out for a friend. This fic is a delight and so much fun!
Love From the Other Side by @lightningboltreader
Exes to lovers and only one bed...what could possibly be better?? I particularly enjoy the conversation between TK and Carlos that leads to their reconciliation.
We were in screaming color by @liminalmemories21
I was looking forward to this season 4 fic since before the season even started airing! I can imagine it must have been particularly difficult to write, from the ridiculous season 4 timeline to all the plotholes and inconsistencies that the Iris storyline and Carlos' sudden two sisters created, but it was done beautifully. It made me think about so many season 4 details and moments in different ways and ultimately led to an enhanced appreciation of the season.
I need you so much closer by @marjansmarwani
A 4x04 coda. This one focuses on all the many people who love Carlos. I always love to read about Carlos being loved!
where the empty space is a saving grace by @maxbegone
Carlos talks with Gwyn in the time before he's revived by TK and the narcan in 4x04. Beautiful and poignant.
etched in gold by maxbegone
A lovely little wedding moment where TK and Carlos get some alone time during the reception.
By Your Side by @never-blooms
The Reyes kitchen through the years. If there's anything that deserves more exploration, it's the Reyes family and all their complexities. This fic does an incredible job of this and is so beautifully written.
The Calling by @orchidscript
This is a fascinating and beautiful fic about TK using his experience with addiction to help people in the course of his job as a paramedic. It's something I would love so much for them to explore on the show!
Under A Star Spell by orchidscript
In this AU, Carlos practices folk magic. The fic itself is absolutely magical. One of the things I love about it is how different it is from pretty much every other Tarlos fic I've ever read.
Lost and Found by @paperstorm
A 4x04 coda (if there's one thing about me, it's that I love a 4x04 coda). I loved this episode so much but there was so much more I wanted, particularly to see what happened in the aftermath at the hospital, which is why this fic is so appreciated.
Ritual by paperstorm
An installment of Andie's spectacular Missing Moments series. I could easily have put every installment on this list, but I chose the one for 2x11, which is my favorite of the season 2 fics. I'm always a sucker for Carlos working through his feelings about his relationship with his parents!
The Firehouse by paperstorm
An incredible AU with TK and Carlos as childhood friends who meet again years later when Carlos is undercover and TK is living a life of crime. The angst in this one is spectacular, and the payoff is beautiful and earned and extraordinarily satisfying.
peace by @redshirt2
Carlos post-breakup. This little fic is heartbreaking and perfectly captures Carlos' desolate state of mind as he's left alone.
dream this night away by @reyesstrand
A pre-season 4 honeymoon fic where TK and Carlos end up in a motel after their flight is cancelled. A little bit of angst and a lot of love and tenderness.
to which there is no reply by reyesstrand
An absolutely gorgeous honeymoon fic, this time canon-compliant, that features Carlos struggling with his grief and being loved by his husband.
balancing act by reyesstrand
TK and Carlos sharing food and falling in love. What could possibly be better? This fic is so beautiful and it spans the entirety of their relationship. An incredible achievement and a true gift to readers!
the strong will never fall by @rmd-writes
Another 4x04 coda (I truly can never get enough). This one is incredibly tender and emotional.
shine some light on my day by @rosedavid
A sweet, fluffy, gentle fic about TK and Carlos waking up and getting ready for the day together. Domestic fluff at its finest!
and salt the earth behind you by @safeashousespdf
TK brings Carlos to New York 6 months after Gwyn's death and TK grapples with the ways things have changed and the ways he has changed. This fic is incredibly powerful. I read it months ago but I still think about it.
you and me, forevermore by @strandnreyes
A gorgeous wedding coda that made me cry multiple times.
Come what may, I'll still stay by strandnreyes
Carlos struggles with his work-life balance when he becomes a detective. It gets worse and worse until he makes a pretty big mistake that shows him just how bad things have gotten. Lots of angst, but also lots of happiness by the end and so much love permeating through every bit of it. This was one of the THE fics of the year for me and it still lives rent free in my brain!
no rules in breakable heaven by strandnreyes
An AU where Carlos takes a job as a private chef in the Hamptons for TK's family. Jen wrote so many incredible AUs this year, but this one was my favorite. Just the right amount of angst with a proportionately happy ending! And the descriptions of the food Carlos was preparing always made me very hungry.
As long as it's with you by @tailoredshirt
TK and Carlos spend their first Valentine's Day as husbands in the ER, but it's nothing too serious. This fic is mostly soft and sweet. I still think about it all the time, especially the little gestures and affectionate touches between them. It's a lovely little fic that's guaranteed to make you smile.
tell me how by @theghostofashton
Carlos and his grief leading up to the wedding. Beautiful and heartbreaking. I loved this so much.
Back to You and Me by @three-drink-amy
A lovely 4x16 coda. In celebration of finding out that TK doesn't have to worry about Huntington's, TK and Carlos go back to the honky tonk where it all began!
The Weight of Grief by @wandering-night19
This is an absolutely riveting fic that has TK near-death in a coma (again). It's poignant and heartbreaking. One scene in particular in the final chapter makes me want to cry just thinking about it! Some chapters deal with Andrea and Gabriel backstory, which eventually links up to the ongoing story in the present. The whole thing is so well written and beautifully constructed.
living at the centre of a wound still fresh by @welcometololaland
A heartbreaking, beautiful masterpiece of a fic. Carlos struggles with his grief on their honeymoon, but TK is there to help him through. Just thinking about this one makes me want to cry...and also reread!
a long time ago (we used to be friends) by welcometololaland
A masterpiece of an AU, exes to lovers with private investigator Carlos and wrongly accused of murder TK. They work together to clear TK's name and come back together in a beautiful way.

A List of All of Dean Winchester’s Injuries
Yes. I did. I did go through every single episode of Supernatural and recorded every time Dean got injured. Do not question me, I know what I did, I had no one tell me ‘no’ so I did it, and now I’m done.
Now, this list might not be the most accurate. I did not sit down and watch every single episode in full, eyes glued to the screen for every time Dean got injured. I only skimmed. Here’s a gif I made to show how I did it:
(sorry it’s bad quality it’s the first gif I’ve ever made) I skimmed through the episode and used the little preview screen to look for any time there was fast movement, blood or a spell that might require someone cutting their palm. I also kept an eye out for angel-banishing sigils. Since I only skimmed, there’s a chance I missed some injuries or even times that Dean was magically healed. So again, might not be an accurate list but I did my best. Feel free to tell me anything I missed.
Here’s a key to help you through the list:
- most of this lists the actual injury, e.g. “cut on left temple” but other times it’ll list an action that may cause injruy, e.g. “thrown into wall”
- “thrown into/against” means that he impacted the object, but the object did not break / he did not go through it
- “thrown through” means that the object broke on impact and he ended up on the other side
- “internal pain” means that someone used magic to do something to him, but I have no idea what, all I know is that he looked in pain and was mostly gripping his stomach
- “handcuffed” means actual handcuffs were used, “tied around wrists” means either rope or zip-ties were used
- “punched” means just punched in the face, any other area on the body will be specified
- any episodes that aren’t on the list means he wasn’t injured in them
Some misc notes:
- I do not include any injuries that don’t actually happen, e.g. future visions, nightmares, hallucinations or a fake reality
- I might be inconsistent with the amount of times I specify what was used to knock Dean out, and not listing what was used. Sorry about that. It’s because I either just couldn’t see the object, or I was lazy that day
- I don’t usually specify the size of the injury either, I usually just say “cut”, sorry. I only realised like 6 seasons in that I probably should be specifying the size, and also taking screenshots, but I couldn’t be bothered going back and fixing it, nor could I be bothered specifying the size from then on. I’m sorry, it was just going to feel weird if 6 seasons in I only then start specifying
- I don’t include possessions, but I do specify when injuries happen while possessed
- I include some commentary of what kind of injuries I thought should’ve happened based on the action
- There will also be a list for Sam’s injuries posted later, but there will not be one for Cas. Going into this, I only wanted to know Dean and Sam’s injuries for some redesigns I want to do, I didn’t feel it was necessary for me to know Cas’ because he won’t have scars in my redesign (at least his vessel won’t). Please don’t expect me to go back and make a list for Cas, this already took up so much of my time and I don’t want to do it again.
Let’s begin, shall we?

not to be a kripke-era sheep, but here’s why seasons four and five are the best
my top five favorite spn episodes are as follows: lazarus rising (4x01), the french mistake (6x15), the end (5x04), my bloody valentine (5x14), and the rapture (4x20). you’ll notice all but one of those episodes comes from either season four or five. the reason i believe in the supremacy of seasons four and five is two-fold: i find them to be both the most aesthetically pleasing and the most narratively satisfying seasons.
first, regarding the cinematography. what i love about seasons four and five is that they retain the show’s centric griminess without being too visually dark (i’m looking at you, seasons one through three). they fall on the perfect spot on the line with the aforementioned seasons one through three at one end and the hyper-saturated later seasons at the other. yes, there are still bad cgi moments that make me cringe. but there’s no weird green color grading as in season six, no orange-ification as in season fifteen, and, most importantly, cas’ trenchcoat still looks cool. for me, though, what’s most notable is how many downright artistic shots there are in these seasons, such as:
this notorious shot from lazarus rising
this shot from on the head of a pin (4x16)
this shot from lucifer rising (4x22)
and this shot from point of no return (5x18); helloooo, americana
shots like these make the show an art piece, rather than fodder for mindless consumption. the early seasons hadn’t found their cinematographic voice yet, and the later seasons were ugly because they could be, but seasons four and five hit the aesthetic nail on the head.
as for why the plot is more narratively satisfying: i think it boils down to the fact that season five was originally supposed to be the last season of spn. not that i bemoan the fact that there are ten more seasons after that, but after the kripke-era narrative arc, the show's direction feels tenuous at best. perhaps this is due to the fact that there were so many different writers, or perhaps it’s due to the fact that it’s near-impossible to have a show for that long and for it to not feel repetitive. regardless, the narrative arc of seasons one through five is linear and makes sense. what distinguishes seasons four and five, in my opinion, is the introduction of cas and the theme of christian theology. for the first three seasons, we essentially only follow two characters as they kill monsters over and over… and over. but with the introduction of cas, we not only have a new character to care about, but we also have a new slew of recurring characters and a plotline that takes the show out of being just about two brothers fighting monsters.
another thing i love about seasons four and five is that the show really starts having fun with itself. episodes in season three like mystery spot and bedtime stories were the gateway to episodes like monster movie (4x05), it’s a terrible life (4x17), fallen idols (5x05), changing channels (5x08), and not to mention the meta episodes: the monster at the end of the book (4x18) and the real ghostbusters (5x09). do i love all of these episodes? no. do i think paris hilton needed to be in an episode of spn? perhaps not. but episodes like these are what makes spn so unique, and, imho, seasons four and five represent the best parts about spn.

I put it off for so long. But now I’m all caught up. And I hate this show more than ever.
A summary of my live reactions for 4x13:
Donuts for breakfast? No wonder you have nothing of substance in your head.
The morning tryst is fine, but realistically, who shows up at school that early before the bell rings?
“These stonies” ARE YOU KIDDING? Jughead is supposed to be a writer and this is the dialogue the show writers are giving him?
Wait, so is Betty just going to sit there and watch him write?
Ah, yes, Toni Topaz, still losing personality with every passing episode.
Jarhead and Bison. Oh, OKAY.
I told you not to accept that laptop from Bret without question!
The random shot of equipment in the chem lab, like why even bother, as if Archie could pass a science class.
This show has gone so far off the rails I don’t even really know why Veronica is spiraling.
Is it really worth dealing with Stonewall Prep for this shit? Was I ever supposed to believe that any of these people would truly be able to get into an Ivy? Just gtfo of Riverdale. Go to a SUNY campus.
The Betty/Donna diner scene is shot really beautifully, at least.
Ah, yes, Bret, the ultimate creep.
Jughead’s hair looks so much better sticking out of the beanie than completely tucked in.
Aw, a scene with the Bughead background music. Haven’t heard that in a while.
As if the core four could have fun at a Stonewall party. Should have listened to Archie, should have stayed home.
So does Jughead stage his disappearance and death now?
How can Bret be talking like that that when he’s wearing THAT
A summary of my live reactions for 4x14:
Jughead is not allowed to call his own beanie iconic
So three teenagers just walk into their houses at 3 AM in their underwear? This is like a setup for a comedy routine.
“Jughead couldn’t just lend you one of his grungy flannels” LOL see now this is the content we came for
Charles? You would trust Charles with this ploy?
So your boyfriend/friend is “dead” and all signs lead back to you so you’re having an open discussion in the diner?
Man, Penny Peabody and Evelyn Evernever as the ultimate supervillain duo would be so good.
DON’T KILL YOURSELF, ELMO. Who writes this shit?
If Betty is going to be saying incriminating things on the phone, shouldn’t they all be using burner phones?
How can this supposedly squeaky clean FBI agent be so casual about a murder weapon out in the open? This whole subplot is so dumb.
To be fair, Veronica, you ARE running an illegal underground liquor operation.
The stonies have definitely drugged several people.
Donna’s shirt is really nice though.
Jughead’s “body”. Hmm okay.
An oversized Sherpa jacket suits Betty. But the owner ain’t dead.
A summary of my live reactions for 4x15:
Lol Cheryl getting involved in this non-murder coverup would complicate things.
And, what, FP just believes Donna? Pshhh. More scheming.
Here we go with Alice, continuing to be the worst parent on television.
Meanwhile Jughead is chomping down on snacks in the bunker in the woods while writing ten more manuscripts.
Oh, COME ON. Toni and Jughead were BARELY friends. Just common gang members.
!!!!A WILD SWEET PEA APPEARS!!!!
OMG AND BETTY JUST TALKED HIM OUT OF RAGE. GIVE ME SWEETBEE FRIENDSHIP OR GIVE ME (UNSTAGED) DEATH!
Who even cares what else happens when Sweet Pea is here! I just wish there was explanation for where he’s been this whole time!
omg Sweet Pea is the best. Please just write an alternate storyline where he is the star of the show.
We all know super detectives Jones and Cooper planned this out properly, they wouldn’t skimp on the details!
Wait, did Cheryl have the students make a mock beanie for that locker memorial?
Okay…Betty and Archie would probably sell this better if the actors didn’t look grossed out by each other while kissing.
Veronica, on the other hand, is overselling it.
Betty made Juggie a new beanie THIS IS SO KAWAII
Wait, is this really how the writers are setting up Barchie? They’re supposed to catch feelings this way?
Lol solving a murder by milkshake evidence.
A summary of my live reactions for 4x16:
I hope someone got Jughead some Flintstones multivitamins to account for the loss of Vitamin D due to lack of sun!
So basically what you’re telling me is that everyone who matters in Riverdale is in on Jughead’s “death”
This reveal scene in the parlor must be the longest scene in Riverdale history. It’s refreshing to get an episode that isn’t the usual 45 second clips spliced together over 40 minutes.
Three Forsythes in one room!
Interesting that they have to keep saying Tracy True and not refer to Nancy Drew when Nancy Drew is also a show that airs on the CW
As we live and breathe, Jughead Jones walking the halls of Riverdale High.
Lol wait so Jughead went from provisionally accepted to Yale to probably not graduating? I hate this show.
A summary of my live reactions for 4x17:
Cole/Jughead gets the first singing line in the musical? What is this bullshit?
Sweet Pea makes another appearance!! With cutoff sleeves!!
I get that the Salem Witch Trials is on brand for Jughead, but I would have chosen the Trail of Tears essay given the Serpents connection to the Uktena, but no one even remembers that, I’m sure.
SWEET PEA IS PLAYING BASS (I always thought he would be a drummer though)
Wait…they’re just running from room to room in different people’s houses? Just because it’s a musical doesn’t mean you can keep violating the time-space continuum!
Okay, Cole/Jughead singing is the funniest thing to ever happen on this show.
And all this on the musical episode just to set up Barchie?
So after four seasons Betty and Archie are finally supposed to remember why they were so “close” to begin with?
Who thought it would be a good idea to build Betty and Archie up into these thoughtful, concerned, characters and then completely ruin them this way? That’s predictable and so unfair to them.
Cutting back to the pilot and season 1 Betty and Archie and comparing it to now really just underlines why Barchie didn’t become a thing. That should be pretty obvious.
Also, Sweet Pea is not only in the front row, but enamored by this?
A summary of my live reactions for 4x18:
When did Reggie get an accent?
LOL WHAT so are Barchie laying shoulder to shoulder contemplating if they’re going to get it on?
Ugh. Let me guess. Ethel is only appearing in this episode to be villainized. And there go all my SweetE/Swethel dreams.
WHAT DID I JUST SAY.
Oh, NOW, you can’t stop thinking about Betty? Two years too late, Arch.
Cheryl saying something of value for once?? Who are you and what have you done with Cheryl Blossom?
I just want to live in a world where SweetE is canon. Lol what am I saying, canon writing would ruin SweetE.
Someone tell the set designers that it’s poor science practice to leave empty glassware just out on bench tops.
Principal Honey isn’t going to expel them?
Fangs got into a university with a scholarship? Riiiiight.
Okay, so all that Barchie setup for will they or won’t they to settle on they won’t. So basically just a waste of time? Can the writers just stop trying to resurrect that once every season? It’s a minor annoyance that adds nothing.
Yeah, nope, Daddy will never change, Veronica.

Things Jughead has done for Betty:
Literally risked dying to protect her
Faced off against known serial killers
Repeatedly punched anyone who besmirched (his fave word) her honor
Broke up with her so she wouldn’t get hurt
Told her about his dad and worked with her to get FP out of jail
(I mean, there’s def more, better Bughead fans, pls add?)
Things Betty and Jughead have gone through together:
Polly disappearing
Jug transferring to Southside
G&G taking over the town and causing Archie multiple attempts at his life
The Black Hood
Penny Peabody
The Serpents
The Stonies trying to kill Jug
Things That Make This A Very Healthy Relationship:
Jughead is currently the only one who knows about Betty’s self-harming habits and there is no judgement for it
Mutual unconditional support ( “Jughead has every right to protest”, “whatever you need to do, I support you.”)
Excellent dedication to working out conflict (remember when they got into the fight about Yale, and Jug came home and they cuddled it out? He didn’t know about Betty’s breakdown until Betty’s mom told him, so he was coming home to work things out)
Admitting wrongs and talking about conflict (all previous conflicts have been talked about and worked out)
Honestly a lot of mutual respect. I was really impressed when DuPont asked Jug to tell Betty to kill the story she was writing, and he literally told him that he doesn’t tell Betty what she can and can’t do.
Very common interests. Betty and Jug have their roots as an investigative duo, something that has continued throughout the show.
Things They Have Said To/About Each Other:
“Jughead was really there for me”
“I know who you are”
“I want to know who you are. All of it.”
“I believe you, Jughead.”
“You’re so much stronger than all the white noise.”
“I love you, Betty Cooper.”
“Jughead Jones, I love you.”
“I love Jughead. He is as much my family as you are.”
“Whatever you need to do or explore, I support you.”
“You’re not one of the bad guys. You’re Betty Cooper. Like Nancy Drew meets The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.”
“You are a sight for sore eyes.”
“I wish we could just leave.”
“Like Romeo and Juliet but we live happily ever after.”
A signed first edition for my beloved.”
“We. It’s nice to hear that again.”
“Stay.”
“I just want you to know that I love you. I’ll never stop loving you.”
“Our story isn’t over. It’s just beginning”
“You’re a good person.”
“Now that I am the serpent king, I was wondering how you felt about being my queen.”
“It was asked between two young people in love.”
“If you’re on the frontlines, so am I.”
“From now on, we’re partners. In the serpents, in life, all of it.”
“I’m surviving. Because you’re here with me.”
“You and I are in this for the long haul.”
“If I ever disappeared you would be the one to find me.”
“I need my anchor.”
“Don’t threaten my boyfriend with an axe.”
“I missed you.”
“I’m happy for you and I’m proud of you.”
“I would never ask you to turn down a life-changing opportunity.”
“He’s your biggest fan.”
“I love you, and I hate it when we fight.”
“The man I love.”
“You’re the only man for me.”
Times Where Betty Expressed An Interest in Archie:
- 1x01 and 1x02
- 2x09
- the last three episodes
Look. I get that it’s a teen drama. I get that they’re still in high school and I definitely get there being some part of Betty that wonders what it might be like to end up with Archie, especially during a VERY stressful time.
I would totally get it if they had Betty and Jughead slowly drifting apart, or found ways to establish that they were heading in different directions, or even established that they weren’t the same people they were, and their relationship had simply puttered out. But that has been the opposite of what they’ve showed us the last few episodes. Moreoever, Betty and Archie haven’t even significantly interacted in two seasons. This was all thrown into the last three episodes.
And even if that WERE the case, that Betty and Jug were drifting apart, I would still think they are both not okay for doing this to their respective best friends. Laying aside the fact that Jughead loves Betty completely, and canonically they are planning on going to college together, and her cheating on him, particularly with Archie, would absolutely shatter him, this is the highest of not fair to Veronica. Betty means a lot to her, they’ve established this, so this betrayal of both V and Jug is so very selfish.
Since they have established they WILL finish the season, and if the article can be believed, I can see this going one of three ways:
1. Betty and Archie kiss in 4x17, Betty tells Jug in 4x18. This is my preferred route, but I don’t think it’s the way they’ll go. There’s a chance though, they already went the route of Barchie kissing and not telling anyone. That would get the drama of the love triangle out in the open ASAP, and they’d have a better chance of resolving it before season’s end. Riverdale doesn’t tend to end in romantic cliffhangers.
2. Betty and Archie continue to cheat on their respective significant others, until it all blows up in the finale. This would completely assassinate both Betty and Jughead’s characters, and I don’t see this as being the way they go.
3. Jug and V find out in the last episode, the core four implodes, and we time jump six years. This is probably the most likely scenario.
I gotta say, I’m pretty excited to see B and J find their way back to each other, but really really don’t want a time jump.
Also, to the Barchie fans, I get it. I had several shows where my NOTP was canon for several years, and it was torturous watching. I rejoiced when they broke up. But think of it this way, Barchie would likely be forever tainted by the circumstances of how they got together, and probably never get off the ground. I get you want Barchie, but do you really want it like this?

Families, biological and chosen, both central to the series.
“This is about the children.” - Ranko Zamani, 1x1
I was gonna do a gif set for Guillermo Rizal, but Cooper’s conversation with Liz at the end of the episode offered too much bounce back and required my added input about the scenes themselves and their dialogues.
Forewarning - this is a lengthy post.
Tom, Liz, and Agnes: Chosen family.
Liz [6x20]: Before we had Agnes, I thought Tom and I were gonna adopt, that family had nothing to do with biology.
Pointing out the fact that Agnes’ foreshadow with the unicorn first came with this bit of conversation. A storyline that’s been brewing since season three.
And because it’s been brewing since then, I’d like to point out Red’s dialogues because they support an issue of paternity where Agnes is concerned.
"We" is an ambiguous pronoun.
In 3x12, we had these dialogues.
Red: I assume Tom is the father.
Liz: I haven’t told him. Uh. He’s still figuring his life out.
In 3x14, we had these dialogues.
Liz: You and Tom agree on something.
Red: He wants you to keep the baby?
In 3x16, we had these dialogues.
Red: How are you feeling?
Liz: We’ve decided to keep the baby.
Red: We?
Liz: I’ve accepted Tom’s proposal. We’re gonna get married.
Red: Right.
For someone like Red, with his previous dialogues and knowledge of how adoption works, his question of "we" offers two scenarios. Either he suspected Liz was in a relationship with someone other than Tom, or suspected someone else to be the father of Agnes. To assume Tom is the father, and be told Tom wants Liz to keep the baby, it's an obvious "we." Or is it?
Back to Red’s 3x14 dialogue.
Cooper [6x20]: The parents of Rizal’s children. No one would blame them for walking away from those kids.
The non-biological, chosen family.
Ressler: According to the report, the two of you are not genetically related to your daughter.
Ben Mitchell: What?
Sara Mitchell: No.
Ressler: I’m sorry, but we ran the test several times.
-
Liz: It isn’t just you. Neither you nor the Mitchells are biologically related to either of the girls.
Mark Walker: You’re telling us what - that we got some other couple’s eggs by mistake?
Opposite parallel. Because Tom isn’t the father of Agnes.
Liz: You and Tom agree on something.
Red: He wants you to keep the baby?
Pushing us to Red’s dialogue in 3x17.
The focus to Liz’s baby bump was purposeful.
Red: You were wrong about him once. What makes you so sure you’re not wrong this time? Do you really want your child to pay the price for that mistake for the rest of his or her life?
Liz: I am attempting to build a life with [the father of my child.] A normal life with two parents who love one another. With everything you know about me, can’t you see that? Can’t you see how important that is to me? To my child?
The father of her child is back at the church.
The foreshadow of danger to come.
In the context of Brimley's dialogue, he was speaking of parent and child.
Brimley [6x20]: So much for making this a family business. Hand it over. Hood, hive, the works. You want something done right, you gotta do it yourself. Nothing hurts so bad as when a child disappoints. Like being impaled by a unicorn.
This means Agnes will be impaling Liz with a "disappointment" unicorn.
Back to 3x17 and its dialogues.
Liz: What am I doing?
Cooper: You’re trusting Tom. Taking a leap of faith. One you know could end in disappointment. But it’s because you love him.
“So much for making this a family business.”
Liz and Red.
Tom and Scottie.
“Family. Business.”
Back to Cooper’s conversation, which bounces back heavy.
Challenges.
Cooper [6x20]: Every family has challenges. God knows yours with Reddington has more than most.
Cooper [3x17]: Now, each choice brings with it blessings as well as hardships. Choosing a partner means choosing that person’s life to become your life. Their joy becomes your joy, as do their burdens.
Walking away.
Cooper [6x20]: No one would blame you if you chose to walk away from them, but you never will. And not because you can’t. Because you don’t want to. Because in spite of his -
Tom [3x17]: But there are things that I did, and - and - and I might be done with those things, but I can’t promise you that those things are done with me. And I can’t promise you that it’s not gonna happen tomorrow or next week or - or five years from now. And I would understand, frankly, if you didn’t want to deal with any of -
Faith.
Cooper [6x20]: In spite of everything, he’s committed to you, he loves you, and he has faith in you. And I think you have the same for him.
Cooper [3x17]: You’re trusting Tom. Taking a leap of faith. One you know could end in disappointment. But it’s because you love him.
Furthered by Mr. Kaplan’s dialogue, which offers a double interpretation.
Kate [4x18]: Please, do what your mother never had the courage to do until it was too late. Walk away from Raymond.
Again, “walking away.”
Cooper [6x20]: No one would blame you if you chose to walk away from them, but you never will.
Red is not the real Raymond Reddington, he’s Katarina Rostova. Kate’s bit of dialogue places Tom at the center despite its double interpretation.
Please, do what your mother never had the courage to do until it was too late. Walk away from Raymond. (herself)
The danger of oneself, furthered by Kate’s dialogue in 3x23.
Kate: I didn’t betray you. I did what I’ve always done - protected you - this time, from yourself.
Furthered even more by Red’s dialogue in 5x9.
Liz: I killed some men. Doesn’t matter that they were bad. That it was them or me. What matters is that I did it and I was good at it. And I didn’t lose any sleep over it.
Red: You will. One of these nights you will. It’s just a matter of when.
Liz: Maybe. Later. After I’ve crossed the abyss. But from the side I’m on now, all that matters is that I’m healed and I’m back. And I’m coming for Tom’s killers. Like I said, I couldn’t keep my promise. Can you forgive me?
Red: Yes. Will you be able to forgive yourself?
The second interpretation, its very context. Raymond wasn’t Katarina’s parent, he was her lover. Again, placing Tom at the very center. I could list any number of times Red warned Liz about Tom, but I won’t. I’ll just take it back to 4x17.
Red: As I feared would happen, elements from Katarina’s past are circling Elizabeth like a pack of wolves in the night. I put Tom Keen in her life to keep an eye on her, and he married her.
Kate: This isn’t about Tom Keen. It’s about your need for control.
Red: Indeed. I need to control the danger to Elizabeth. I’ve built a vast criminal network predicated on that very principal. It’s time to live up to my mission statement.
Kate will be wrong about Tom.
Red, Liz, and Agnes: Biological family.
Agnes’ foreshadow with the unicorn continued in Liz’s scene with Red. Her conversation with Cooper bounces back to their 4x22 motel scene.
Liz [6x20]: Family? Is that what we are? I’m not so sure.
Liz [4x22]: But anger and fear and a certain amount of hatred are all normal in a family. And that’s what we are.
“Means” Several dialogues for this bit, I’ll just be adding two.
Liz [6x20]: I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently, and, uh - I don’t think I know what “family” even means.
Liz [5x1]: Well, you are my father and - Oh, my God, that sentence and all that it means.
Ilya: It is a mystery, right? So, we give them the answer.
Katarina: What does that mean?
Bloodlines. Again, back to 4x22.
Liz: Before we had Agnes, I thought Tom and I were gonna adopt, that family had nothing to do with biology.
Cooper: If this case taught us anything, it’s that it doesn’t. Family isn’t about bloodlines.
Liz [4x22]: Why didn’t you just tell me who you were? Why keep it a secret? Come into my life, give up everything, go broke trying to protect me, and not tell me you’re my -
Liz [4x22]: I’m angry at you, at who I am, at the fact that I want to help you despite everything you’ve done to me and to yourself.
Everything Red’s done to himself. Katarina “becoming Reddington.”
Liz [4x22]: What was it you said? A father who’s a career criminal [and a mother who died of weakness and shame.]
Add in their Bloodstream soundtrack for bloodlines.

“Not really, considering what was at stake.” - Liz, 4x6
Tom [5x8]: Could we just put a stake in it? You go first. Who’s in the suitcase?
Back to that danger foreshadowed.
Liz [6x20]: I left Agnes with Scottie because I was afraid of who you were. But I’m not anymore. Scottie won’t have to train Agnes. Because Agnes won’t be with her. I’m bringing her home.
“Training” Agnes.
Liz [5x9]: She loves Cheerios, and Thomas the Train in the morning.
Kat [6x22]: Scottie wanted me to tell you she’ll bring over the rest of her things in the morning.
Liz believing Red is Ilya. That’s the issue.
Stranger: And she believed him?
Red: She did. So much so that she’s decided it’s safe to bring her daughter home.
Ilya is of danger to Agnes.
Red: I want this done before Masha’s daughter comes home.
That’s why he wants it done before she comes home.
Red: Your mother was not as bad as - If she were here, I’m sure she’d tell you she made so many mistakes. She was scared and uncertain and just trying to do the best she could. Bring Agnes home, Elizabeth.
Liz: If there’s any risk -
Red: There isn’t. Bring her home.
Katarina isn’t of danger. Ilya is. That’s why there’s no danger to Masha. Also why Red went to Paris. "Raymond” is Katarina, "Katarina” is Ilya. This falls to Tom’s side of Agnes’ family tree - while adding in the issue of paternity. This will break Liz’s second memory wipe wide open. The first tap of my Tom-Domino theory. Liz finding out Tom isn’t the father of Agnes will most certainly cause her to question who is and why she can’t remember having sex with him. I also believe this will tie in Red’s plan with Dr. Stark, as I believe he was planning to donate to Agnes.
Agnes’ paternity issue taking us back to Kirk’s arc.
Kirk, Liz, and Agnes: Chosen family.
Tying in both chosen and biological with Rederina and Keenler baby.

you can’t ever convince me ziva and tony weren’t sleeping together between s3 and 4
worried boyfriend tony
I was hoping maybe save me
she needs her dad kill me
we love you too 😭
she got dad to come home
he’s supposed to be dead/apparently he’s gotten better
they were 10000% fucking lets 👏 be 👏 real 👏
“when I need to be” quick question: what the fuck
skinny summer mcgoo
they use the same safe house over and over again
why wasn’t I with ziva?
she’s scared, not that she’ll ever admit that
4x02
I wonder how different the show would have been if they’d always written tony and Abby as being mature and serious the majority of the time - the childishness gets really really annoying, and there’s such a change in quality when they are more mature
dad’s home!!!
4x03
uuuuuUUUUGH I forgot how early Tony’s undercover stuff started
now that gibbs is back there’s so much tension between z/t
perhaps because z is jealous of the “mystery girlfriend”
tfw you’ve already got a girlfriend but you’re still checking out your totally platonic professional work partner’s ass
ziva is definitely a daddy’s girl in a way that Abby isn’t, Abby’s sugar sweet and spoiled, but ziva is the one that really needs the emotional support
I wonder if ziva ever actually thought about having kids with tony before tali
I wonder if tony thought about it too
has anyone ever told you you’re attractive/my brother 😂
you’re a geek, not mentally deranged
crime!!
4x04
Timothy Jimothy McGee
4x05
uhoh Tony’s worst nightmare
personally I prefer a good shag 👀
I think it’s good to keep in mind throughout all episodes that tony and ziva have already seen each other entirely buck-ass naked
I’m not blowing on you again
again: what the fuck
totally normal
👀
now is not Paris
why do you wanna look at a dead guy’s junk Anthony
4x06
I don’t totally understand ziva’s derision of Halloween, they do have Purim in Israel (and in Jewish communities in general) it might not be as dark and spooky as American Halloween but still
maybe it’s different in the states but amber alerts are only when they know the kid’s been abducted
I mean now they do know she was abducted but that was AFTER
according to someone called Scuttle Butt
so tony and ziva are watching movies together outside of work 🤔

UGH jeanne
zeevah! Zeevah!!
this has to be the stupidest thing anyone’s ever done/then why are you following me/I don’t fricking know (it’s cause you love her you doof)
i can see down your shirt right now/I don’t think your new girlfriend would like that/what are you talking about i don’t know what you’re talking about/I’m talking about you and the fact that you no longer stare at every woman when they pass you by
so 1) tony is not as good at hiding this undercover assignment as he thinks he is, 2) ziva observes him enough to notice that his behaviour has changed and 3) ziva is the only one he is STILL checking out
not worth dying over
I’ll remember that
my son, tony (!!!!!!!!)
gibbs was unfortunate(?) enough to be stuck with the most loyal set of ducklings
4x08
the only thing I DO like about the jeanne/la grenouille plot is jealous ziva
this cannot be admissible in court even with proper chain of evidence
totally platonic to be touching the entire side of your work partner’s body with your own tony would definitely sit that close to McGee by choice right it’s not just ziva
lee looks like a ballerina
sometimes they really go hard with the imperialistic propaganda
4x09
nepotism: both Sean and Troian getting jobs on ncis
MySpace im….okay
Jenny’s only here for the hot goss
see I don’t think Jenny realizes he’s talking about jeanne, I almost wonder if she thinks he’s talking about ziva

McGee thinks ziva’s in love with me (she is)
dad and grandpa are fighting and the kiddies don’t like it
pimmy jalmer
🎶sexually frustrated “platonic” partners🎶
you two done playing grab ass
you described everything in my bedroom (why weren’t they endgame?)
I do feel bad for tony. He was definitely put in a bad situation where he was taken advantage of (by NCIS/the director) without anyone to confide in, and of course it ended really, really badly
how can ziva even tell but anyways of course she’s jealous
the usual/the usual what - oof. That expression hurts. Poor ziva
you got that moustache in a box, don’t you
4x11
sexual harassment training
LICKING YOUR COWORKER’S FACE IS TOTALLY APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR ZIVA DAVID
why are you touching dead naked people?
I suppose at this point the viewers didn’t know that jeanne had anything to do with the undercover stuff tony was doing
ziva is concerned about her boooyfrieeend-seriously though
what part of inappropriate touching don’t you understand
romantic or not, ziva seriously gives several shits about tony and his well-being
dadman to the rescue
did Jenny…also not know????
ziva is so, so concerned ugh bb
4x12
I don’t know what my moas would be
unreservedly romantic tony
ahh, you two got married and didn’t tell me
I think it’s scary!
oh ziva.
why does ziva being so concerned make gibbs so uncomfortable 🤔👀
your other phone is never on silent
IT LITERALLY DID NOT OCCUR TO ZIVA DAVID, INTERNATIONAL INTELLIGENCE AGENT, THAT TONY COULD HAVE A GIRLFRIEND
LOOK AT THAT FACE
HOMEGIRL’S WORLD JUST GOT FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN
oh z
so the pictures that mossad had at the beginning of the season of z/t - could those have been from the agents watching tony and jeanne now?
4x13
when your wife and your girlfriend are in the same room
sounds like you have something up your wazoo
when your boyfriend has two super intense daughters who could both kill your painfully and without evidence
ooh petulant ziva
I’m certain that they used the same hall for jeanne and Tim’s apartments

IMPORTANT CANON DIVERGENT PSA
( The list is now entirely up-to-date again so I thought this deserved a repost, because yes, in my canon Helga is still very much alive ❤ please keep in mind that I will use my canon divergent for EVERY interaction/thread taking place in s4/5 or any of the seasons that are still to come. STEAL or dare to claim any of these hcs as your own and I know where to find you. Seriously, they’re not yours. )
Why have you chosen to do this?
Truth be told, Angrboða‘s unnecessary death was more enough for me to go canon divergent almost immediately. A lot of things just felt extremely ooc regarding Floki and Helga’s s4b timeline, and especially the whole Tanaruz thing left me feeling unusually uncomfortable, because that was not the Helga I’d grown to love so much. In my eyes her death was pointless, like so many other deaths on the show, which is why we both have decided to go fully canon divergent when it comes to these seasons.
So can you tell us a little more about your canon divergent?
The most important thing I want you to know is that in this canon divergent Floki IS the God Loki. This has always made most sense to us and it was actually canon in the first comics and extremely hinted at in the first scripts ever written for the show. However, keep in mind that no one knows about this except for Helga and their children, unless Floki tells it them himself; even Helga didn’t know about this till Floki told her about his true identity after the events at the seer in 4x04! Angrboða did not die from her fever, and Helga gave birth to a blind son, Váli, not long after Floki got released from the caves. ( more detailed explanations per episode under the read more. I would really appreciate it if you read it when we interact in a s4/5 setting. )
What if I am not interested in your canon divergent?
I can understand that some people might think the whole Loki thing is a bit too much ( even though there is a 95% chance your muse is not aware of this, and really the only thing that changes is your muse’s knowledge regarding their children ). I will make no exceptions however, simply because I refuse to acknowledge the direction in which Hirst has taken this series regarding Helga and Floki. If you keep ignoring my use of my canon divergent in our threads that take place in s4 or s5 I will simply drop our thread. Please note that s1-s3 are still totally canon, since Helga only got pregnant with Váli at the end of s3 and she wasn’t aware of Floki’s real identity at that time. You are always welcome to come plot something during these timelines if you prefer that, and of course I also have numerous AUs and other verses I’m more than happy to use ❤
So what does change in your canon divergent?
more detailed explanations per episode under the read more. Please read if our muses (will) interact in a s4/5 setting. also please keep in mind that everything shown in the series still happened as it did unless anything different is told here or discussed beforehand.
4x01 - 4x03.
Helga learned she was pregnant with a second child during the first raid to Paris (at the end of s3), this was also the reason why she ‘forgave’ Floki after avoiding him for so long. Back in Kattegat it became obvious very quickly that Floki was targeted, but with Helga already 7 months pregnant they really couldn’t do much. Helga and Angrboða were allowed to take a small home next to the hall and Angie was nursed back to health by the other healers when she fell ill. Helga still gave up much and joined Floki in the cave to take care of him, despite his pleas not to. Both were severely hurt and weakened when they got released and stayed at the healers for a couple of days. The healers told Helga the baby probably hadn’t survived as they couldn’t feel anything move anymore. Helga refused to believe this and begged Floki to take her back home together with Angie. Even though hurt, Floki agreed and they went home a few weeks before the yule celebrations would start. Helga’s condition grew worse, and at some point even begged Floki to get the child out of her, slowly realising the healers must have been right. Despite all Helga did gave birth. Váli was born too early, blind and very weak just like his mother, but alive. It was then that Floki’s mortality began to weaken at the sight of his dying wife and son and Loki started to awaken; having spend so much time amongst mortals that he was slowly losing his true self. Unknown to her Floki healed Helga.
4x04 - 4x05.
Convincing Helga, who is now in better health, to return to Kattegat to see the seer the small family moved back to the home Helga and Angie stayed in before. After Floki’s visit to the old one he realises that he can’t keep it a secret any longer and tells Helga about his true identity. Helga of course doesn’t believe him, thinking he truly has gone insane after his punishment and again secludes herself from him, taking their children. Floki gives her space and time, but also tries to show her that he speaks the truth, showing her small things, even shapeshifting to keep and eye on her and his kids. Eventually he even shows her his true form (which is pretty much still his own look, only his height changes to 8′ and his lipscars become visible. He will only take his true form when they are alone, fearing to be discovered). Helga slowly gives in, knowing there is no denying what she sees in front of her and their relationship slowly, carefully starts to flourish again to what it once was. Both agree to travel with Harald and Halfdan when the second raid to Paris is announced, only this time they take both children, not able to leave them behind.
4x06 - 4x10.
Arriving in Paris Floki sets up a tent just outside camp, making sure he could be with his family in private whenever he needed. During the attack on camp Helga made sure Angrboða took Váli and followed the Ragnarssons into safety before she got attacked. After Floki found her their children also rejoined them. Floki tried healing Helga, but after Helga woke up she tried to convince him not to make it too obvious, and still leave most of the healing up to herself.
during the timeskip.
To us the timeskip took 8 years. In this time only a few things happened. Based on the comics Uppsala got burned down just before Ragnar left. Floki swore revenge against this blasphemy, and helped building the temple back to its former glory. Helga indeed got sick after a couple of years as was hinted in s4b, and this was the reason for Floki to decide to leave this world for a short while in search for Iðunn and her apples, practically begging the goddess to give him one in order to save Helga and allow her to stop ageing, but therefore also revealing his location to the other Gods if the Goddess would reveal his secret. Helga had to think this over for a while, but accepted nonetheless, knowing she would never be able to let death take her away from her family.
4x11 - 4x15.
Nothing much changed here, only of course that the children were present during Ragnar’s visit and during their stay in Kattegat. They also decided that they would come to the Mediterranean, staying with them while confronting Rollo in Frankia. Still being children they were not as treated as brutally as Floki and Helga however.
4x16 - 4x17
Helga might have mentioned wanting another child to Floki on the ships, but he would just have grinned, only doubting about wanting to put another child on this world when everything around them is changing as he already fears Christianity slowly taking over their lands. He would definitely not have disregarded it however. Arriving in Spain Floki never would have let his family out of sight, and never got distracted by the mosque, maybe only by the gold glistering of its roof. Helga took pity on the girl after her mother was killed by Harald, but only made sure she was brought to safety and was not amongst the women captured before returning to her family. Once back in Kattegat they stay in the small home they usually stay in when their family resides in the village for a longer period of time. Both welcome Ivar, but it is Váli who panics when he is able to feel the hostile vibe still lingering around the other boy, knowing he has harm in mind, even though it is not directed towards their family.
4x18 - 4x20
It is clear Floki will be going back to England to avenge his old friend Ragnar. He wishes for Helga to stay behind, but his dreams are plaguing him, dreams of other lands. It becomes clear to him that it is time to leave Kattegat, knowing people would soon get suspicious with Helga not ageing. He does not wish for his family to come to England, but Helga insists. It is then that he tells her of his plans. Helga is confused, hesitant, but she too knows that her time in the village will soon come to an end. During the attack on Aella Helga stays with the children at camp, only visiting Ragnar’s ‘resting place’ later together with her husband, both saying their last goodbyes. After all that Floki and Helga speak again of leaving, finally coming up with a plan that will allow them to without others even dare questioning them; Helga will fake her death. They try to keep it hidden from both their children, but Váli notices, and runs away at some point, still able to feel his mother’s pain from when she gave birth to him and not wanting to see her get hurt. Floki finds him, and assures him everything will be fine and that Helga doesn’t really get hurt, at least not something he could not heal. Helga follows him to the village, having left Váli in the care of his big sister, staying close to the boats, unseen. A song is the sign that she is ready, luring Floki towards Helga as he is able to hear it from afar. He helps her cutting her throat, just above her collar and enough to make it look convincing enough that she was attacked. He carries her around, even changing her clothes, making sure people would see her face before he heals her again in secrecy, replacing her body with that of a dead saxon woman. Helga flees, covered in robes, but still watches from the shadows how Floki buries the woman, knowing Björn is watching from afar. It is terribly painful to see him like this, and Helga waits by the grave till her husband returns to her, knowing he has spoken to Björn, and that word will spread that he is leaving with his children; to everyone Helga seems dead.
5x01 - 5x03
Floki builds them a new boat fairly quickly while Helga keeps herself hidden from everyone, hardly ever daring to show herself in public unless entirely covered so she would not be recognised. It pains them all to leave, and Helga even cries when Floki tell her about Ivar’s plea for the man to stay. She is hidden under a few blankets when the boat leaves, but even she can feel the power Floki feels when old friends chant his name; a strong worship he had not felt in years. Their journey across the sea is a difficult one, especially for Helga. She feels grief for everything and everything they had to leave behind, and even their children feel it at some point. Food and drinks are scarce, something that weakens the family greatly, and especially Helga starts to distance herself again in her sorrowful mood. They reach new land, but Helga refuses to move. Her body is still too weak, and she longs to return home. Their children too feel the effects of their long journey, but Floki can’t force himself to sit still and do nothing. He is irritated, tired, hungry, but still he begs his wife and children to stay with the ship while he searches for food and explores this new found land. He finds the waterfall and shares a vision with Váli, knowing this is indeed the land he had seen in his dreams. Before he can return to his family he is struck by another vision, or so he thinks. It is Hel who he sees in the waterfall, knowing she is trying to make her presence known to her father with her rather macabre visual tricks. Exhaustion from their long travels almost takes over at that point, but he is delighted by what he saw because his family is with him.
5x04-5x10
A few days pass and the family slowly regains their strength. Realising they are the only ones on this massive island Floki knows that they can not keep this all to themselves. He knows there are plenty of people who wish for a more quiet life, and that is exactly what he wishes for this island; to be one without a king or queen, for people to farm, and live in peace with the Gods’ names still on their lips. His boat rebuild they sail back to the mainland where first they decide to visit Uppsala one last time before they continue their journey to their old home where Helga and their children hide while Floki returns to Kattegat to find people willing to journey back with them. He is saddened to see what has become of the old village, and with Lagertha’s foolish attempt to stop him. Nonetheless he finds families worthy of following the God’s path, and builds new boats with the promise of new land. With pain in their heart they destroy their old home before they leave, and bury all their valuable belongings they can’t take with them in hope to one day return again in another lifetime. Once reaching the island the family is quick to seclude themselves again, though Floki keeps an eye on the settlement, eager to watch it grow with his guidance while he builds a home for his own family, a large farm where Helga can plant her gardens anew, and their children can keep plenty of animals. Helga and both Angie and Váli are quick to make friends amongst the settlers, helping to solve useless quarrels, and to maintain the peace on the newly discovered island. The family finds happiness again, and solitude spending their time as simple farmers, though their old professions are not forgotten, and practised plenty to assist in the development of the settlement.

Agents of Shield 4x17 “Identity and Change” thoughts
spoilers below cut but it’s worth the watch
as each episode goes by the more my heart aches for fitzsimmons ... there is honestly so much pain between them now. I don’t know whether the writers just hate the thought of fitzsimmons happy together or they’ve realised that if they keep splitting fitzsimmons apart that they’ll have viewers keep watching because they won’t settle until fitzsimmons is happy (which is honestly me right now .... I’m not giving up on them ever)
Phil Coulson in framework is such a cutie - he is so lost and out of place compared to everyone else yet he still holds so much power (in a way...?) I love him and the ongoing soap throughout the ep was so funny - now everytime someone says soap my mind is going to automatically going to go aos. that being said .... if it was so easy to make coulson realise the truth why is it so much harder for everyone else. I get that Shield was coulson’s life and in framework he doesn’t really have much of a life so it wasn’t hard to convince him but i sit there waiting for everyone else to realise.
Mack and Hope!! Hope reminds me of a small fitzsimmons because she is actually a genius :) I honestly thought that Mack had realised :( but his love for Hope is just undeniably gorgeous but personality wise I think Mack has stayed the same.
I hate saying that I love Ward in Framework - how can you not .... he’s a good guy!!! I’m kind of glad that ward became the villain irl because good guy Ward breaks my heart bc he is too perfect . Thank you Brett for being in every season even though you’ve been killed off a tonne of times
Why has no one even tried to convince may yet ... like other than when Daisy was like ‘dont you remember me’ no one has been like ANDREW! BAHRAIN! PHIL COULSON! MULANNNNNN
FITZSIMMONS (my heart breaks) : i’m going to be honest I love sassy and salty jemma (@yourfitzsimmons ;) ) she’s like channeling this evil within her and it’s such a character progression from season 1 - especially ‘that scene’ from the Bus where she ‘shot a superior officer in the chest’ (aww she was so cute back then) BUT JEMMA WHEN SHE SAW FITZ ... i was going to cry. Why can’t they be happy together ....
LEOPOLD JAMES FITZ. HOW COULD FITZ KILL AGNES THOUGH : i feel like this is going to be a problem when Fitz really wakes up because Jemma isn’t going to forgive him for it. that’s just evil .... I honestly thought that he remembered jemma - and when radcliff was going on talking to him I thought he would remember :(( how can he not remember, but honestly how dare he kiss AIDA (sorry ophelia) again. We deserve a really really good fitzsimmons kiss to make up for all of this pain we have to go through. I’m disappointed he doesn’t remember :( Although Fitz is hottttt af but considering 4x18 is going to be fitz centered im very excited.
Daisy/Skye . Despite the fact that she trusts Ward again (which i am very surprised happened so quickly like Jemma is still so angry but Daisy is like YES!ward)
What is wrong with AIDA! Why is so in love with Fitz ... like was she crushing on him this whole time or just jealous that he had Jemma and she wanted someone to love her like that. She’s evil .. and hot.
thoughts guys?

So the tumblr mobile app is really frustrating me these past couple of days but…
for this:
http://luvtheheaven.tumblr.com/post/159203462757/jerseydevious-ricobrzenskas-hypocean
I got two asks. One I accidentally answered privately despite a really long answer I meant to have be public. Great. Stay tuned to see if I can get it back from the person I sent it to via copying and pasting.
And the other…
@traumacarriedsara asked me the other of the two “asks” I received about this… and THANK YOU. This was too much fun lol. (BTW I’d happily do this again and much much shorter once you catch up on Legends of Tomorrow…) I had a lot of fun with this, saved it as a draft, and… lost it. Maybe I sent it privately by mistake *again* just like the other, I don’t even know…
So… idk what’s going on but let’s just create a text post, shall I? I still have the whole post because of the magic of copying and pasting and me having prepared this time to maybe lose it... lol
Character Aaron Hotchner from Criminal Minds, you say?
Headcanon A: what I think realistically
Headcanon B: what I think is fucking hilarious
Headcanon C: what is heart-crushing and awful but fun to inflict on friends
Headcanon D: what would never work with canon but the canon is shit so I believe it anyway
…
Well really, almost all my Hotch headcanons are some combination of the A, C, and D types.
I think they wouldn’t realistically call it that, but David Rossi and Aaron Hotchner are straight (albeit Hotch I think has a more specific type or might lean demisexual) yet they are clearly in a queerplatonic relationship with each other. I’m talking way beyond typical best friends. They have each other’s backs at work and for home life. They know each other’s secrets and hardships. Rossi helps out Hotch with practical things whether it be coaching Jack’s soccer team or helping him go into Witness Protection in the new season. In general Rossi has been painted as everyone’s protector on this show but especially Hotch’s because Hotch helps protect everyone else and doesn’t have anyone else to particularly look out for him. That being said, I like to headcanon that way more than on the actual show, there have been times when Rossi needed things and Hotch goes above and beyond to help him. There’s hints of it anyway but I imagine also that there are times when maybe Hotch has acknowledged to himself, even, however more difficult it is… acknowledged to Rossi! just how important Rossi is to him.
A headcanon that amuses me a bit that I often think about while rewatching the show is that Hotch is in love with JJ. Usually not heartbreaking although… I think if it is requited at all it’s mutual pining at best.
I believe Hotch and Beth wouldn’t have broken up.
I headcanon that until Beth, the only person he’d ever slept with was Haley. They met in high school after all.
I strongly headcanon that Hotch grew up in an extremely complicated abusive situation and only Rossi knows these kinds of details about his past, although the rest of the team are good at their jobs and have plenty of suspicions. It doesn’t work with canon exactly UNLESS I really force it but I’ve been taking notes in my rewatch and so many little things about Hotch add to my thought process about what could’ve happened to him, and I’ll try to write a Hotch fanfic at one point.
Part of what doesn’t work with canon is that his parents, either of them, abused him. Because of the way he talks about his father’s (contradictory two different causes of) death, and after Morgan prompts him in a season 7 episode, his mom too. (She made him good breakfasts and he serves the same to Jack.)
I have concocted an elaborate headcanon for myself in the meantime where Hotch’s father kidnapped, sexually molested, took out rage, and probably killed random kids and Hotch was “only” a helpless witness for some of this, his father’s main form of abusing Hotch was subjecting him to watching this happen to others. This man was the epitome of psychologically abusive to his own family, to his wife/to Hotch’s mom, to Aaron, to his brother Sean but maybe *only Aaron* ended up really knowing a large chunk of the horror.
By high school or so Hotch and Sean ended up luckily in a new home or perhaps separate homes. I forget the age difference between them but Sean is a lot younger so I’m thinking Aaron was in high school and Sean was… very little. The people Hotch chooses to consider Mom and Dad are his adoptive or foster parents. They might’ve been an older couple when they took him in which is why they died before the show started…
I imagine the horrible things that he watched happen to other kids but that didn’t happen directly to him make Aaron constantly feel that he’s lucky, that any trauma he’s endured is nothing compared to the horror others have had to survive or others didn’t survive at all. I imagine his extreme involvement in cases involving trying to rescue children from monsters is not just inspired by his own feelings of love for his own son but much more than that by many memories. I take little moments from the show for his character and interpret how they’d fit in with this, like the way Hotch is often the one doing CPR on children at the end of an ep if there is a child…
Since you, @traumacarriedsara, and I already discussed seasons 1-3 Hotch moments from angles of him being abused I’ll start with some season 4 ones. Hotch tells Morgan at the end of 4x01 that the fact that he’s alive, his own life, means a lot to him. It seems like a significant and oddly vulnerable moment. This is the aftermath of the explosion and an episode where Hotch tries so hard to save a friend’s life but unfortunately fails… and then the next episode, Hotch reacts to the bad news that his hearing problems could become permanent with almost no reaction. Doesn’t let it bother him. And he takes risks that hurt his hearing and cause him physical pain like going on the plane anyway, because his job is so important to him? Hotch is also the agent, of all the agents it could’ve been, to in this episode look into the dead baby’s nursery, Hotch takes it all in, then knows to look in the chest with the flowers on top and finds the corpse.
There are more moments I wrote down but I want to skip to a few more pertinent ones:
4x04 Hotch is upset he had talked to the unsub and missed the this was the guy they’d been looking for. He’s driving, rossi in the passenger seat, and Rossi reassures him that it could’ve been any of them. Hotch is still upset about it at the end if the episode though. He bows his head shamefully and Rossi tells him we’ve all been there. Hotch takes it so personally that he couldn’t tell.
4x06 there’s a lot to unpack but… skipping a little… he has to regretfully inform the parents of the kidnapped boy that they did find a preferential sex offender at the funeral but not the person who has their son. The mother asks how many of these people are out there and he sadly and solemnly answers “more than you want to know”. I think it’s interesting how much Hotch gets to be the one dealing with the emotional parents in this episode. Later, the mother grabs the phone from Hotch and tearfully begs thar her son not be hurt. He watches her sadly.
4x09 has so much…
Hotch yells at Jordan for lying to a family during one of the worst times of their lives, lying about having a sister who died. He takes it very personally. As he leaves angrily, Jordan turns to Morgan 10:45 and asks him how badly she screwed up. Morgan says on a normal scale of 1-10 probably a 6, but on Hotch’s an 11. For some reason this is a particularly sore spot for Hotch. (This reminds me a bit of the serial killer on death row lying about his childhood and Hotch reacting especially negatively.)
There’s other things I took notes on while rewatching season 4 but I’ll slip just to the simple fact that in 4x17, when asked whether or not he believes in evil, he gives the in between answer between Rossi and Morgan. He mentions how he thinks we’re all capable of unspeakable things.
In 4x18, the first episode with George Foyet, Hotch chooses to make a pretty long trip to Boston when Shaunessy is on his death bed and it seems like that’s kind of what Hotch tends to do repeatedly, people he doesn’t know well, sometimes unsubs, he still wants to be a comfort in a dying moment if they have no one else. Hotch firmly states “we don’t let them get away with it” and what Shaunessy did was wrong. Hotch clearly and explicitly refuses to make a promise to the dying man that he doesn’t intend to keep. He will tell the victim’s families he’s sorry but not that he had no choice, because Hotch believes Shaunessy did have a choice. But by the end of the episode, after Foyet asks Hotch why more people had to die , trying to blame him, Hotch is strong enough to say “Don’t ask me, you’re the serial killer”. I think from the perspective that Hotch had lived through his father being a serial killer and maybe his mother letting the guy get away with a lot or even helping, a lot of types of scenes work in a new light. I love rewatching the whole show with this headcanon in mind.
Even 4x24 Hotch stays professional whole anthrax ep and can’t focus on Reid dying either, he draws a firm stance around protocol and around how if there’s nothing more that they as fbi agents can do for Reid, they need to focus on the bigger picture. And it’s practically cold and kind of a contrast to how he has acted in some other episodes, but at the same time I think it’s interesting that he’s got that kind of strength and focus and determination and ability to compartmentalize.
I didn’t want to go into later seasons because we’d be here all day but I do briefly want to mention 5x08, where the whole ep deals with families being murdered again. I find his argument with Emily about whether or not to show pictures of a dead 12 year old to a serial killer interesting. She says they’re not “just” images and he says that’s exactly what they are!! I could honestly see the scene reversed having worked too. Either character could take the practical, “these are pictures, they aren’t causing additional harm to real people” stance and either could be too blinded by emotion. But like.. considering how protective and viscerally angry Hotch is in cases involving kids… considering this headcanon of mine…
I feel like Hotch is focused on whatever it takes saving children. He stopped being a prosecutor because while putting away the monsters felt good, it always felt like it was too late. He wants to catch them earlier, be a part of literally saving lives in a less abstract way, and while it does upset him if a serial killer gets pleasure out of others’ pain, most of the time his focus is more on trying not to care about what the serial killer feels or doesn’t feel. He is extremely determined in wanting to *practically* figure out how to save the most future pain, save victims.
Now the biggest thing is that however much I try to make it work with canon, this extremely intense headcanon actually doesn’t work with canon, I just believe it anyway. It doesn’t make sense that it would never have come up. Especially with the whole Ashley Seaver arc… It probably doesn’t make sense that Hotch is this well adjusted, even. But… I like to believe it all anyway.
I am exploding with so many thoughts and feelings when it comes to so many characters on this show, really…

Castle Episodes (Season 4)
The season 4 post, you can find the other posts here: Castle Episodes
4x01 Rise: There’s this intense scene at the hospital where Beckett’s boyfriend Josh blames Castle for what happened and Alexis yells “leave him alone!” and wants to go at him but they hold her back. “I don’t remember much of anything” liar, liar, pants on fire. Gates is the new captain now. Castle and Beckett sit on the swingset. Beckett is back on duty but she’s clearly not fine and struggling with PTSD. Something’s going on with Alexis, she doesn’t want him back at the precinct after what happened and she’s upset that he missed dinner again and that he’s not there and everything. “You could’ve been shot. [...] You’re a writer, not a cop. Stop pretending.” At the end, there’s this sweet conversation between Alexis and Castle. “Does she make you happy?” “Yeah she does” “Is it enough?” “It’s enough for now.” “Okay.” “Okay.” “Dad? Don’t grow up too much, okay?” He kisses her on the forehead. “Hey, it’s me we’re talking about.” At the end of the episode, Beckett admits to her psychiatrist that she does remember everything about the shooting, hence also what Castle said.
4x02 Heroes & Villains: Alexis talks about leaving for Stanford in the spring already and Castle is super crushed about this. And then he wipes away a tear and Martha says “Richard, are you crying?” “no, it’s the onions” and then a scene later with Beckett at the crime scene he goes “okay, it wasn’t just the onions. Not completely.” Also, there’s a Game of Thrones reference. A man is cut in half with a sword and Castle goes “Sword, that is so Game of Thrones”. There’s a special title card again. And Castle and Alexis have a little “fight” because it’s Alexis’ plan to choose the classes her boyfriend is taking, just so that she can spend more time with him. And Castle thinks it’s not a good idea which Alexis realizes at the end as well. And then Alexis casually mentions that she’ll be moving in with Ashley lol.
4x03 Head Case: Alexis gets her letter from Stanford (”A letter from a Mr. Stan Ford”) but she didn’t get in. And Castle is like “Why does Stanford think she’s not worthy? She’s perfect.” Also, Gates is not too impressed by Castle yet and it’s so hilarious. “Maybe if I sent her flowers-” “No. No.” Alexis texts Castle and he goes home to her. The next morning, he tells Martha that he found her sacked up on the couch and that he had to carry her up to her bed, she’s really taking this hard :( “It’s me, dad! I’m a failure!” bb :( she’s so crushed.
4x04 Kick the Ballistics: The 3XK-storyline continues! Also the title card is super dramatic because they had just revealed that the murder weapon was Ryan’s gun. The whole episode is super dark and heavy. The music is dark, the colors are dark, the whole setting is dark. It’s not as comedic and ‘fluffy’ as usually, the conversations aren’t as simple.
4x06 Demons: The beginning of the episode is hilarious. Castle tells Alexis not to rearrange all her plans according to Ashley’s schedule and to not drop everything the minute he calls - and then Beckett calls and Castle drops everything :D The title card (or the music) is also in the episode’s theme. I just love the episode with all the paranormal stuff. Also, the ending is pretty cool. There’s this sweet scene between Alexis and Castle. And then, they decide to continue the movie they watched at the beginning and they both look straight into the camera and Castle pushes a button and the screen “turns off”. This is so cool, I loved this.
4x07 Cops & Robbers: I LOVE THIS EPISODE. Martha and Castle are in a bank when it’s being robbed and they are taken hostage. Dean Norris is in the episode. Also, the robbers all go by the alias of a tv doctor, including Doctor Shepherd :) The reunion with Alexis is so emotional. Oh, and Alexis breaks up with Ashley.
4x08 Heartbreak Hotel: Castle, Ryan and Esposito as Elvis doubles are hilarious. Also, Alexis isn’t too sure if she did the right thing with the breakup and Castle tells her to invite some friends over. But it goes terribly wrong. She invites a friend who tells her boyfriend who tells someone else who ends up making a Facebook invitation - half New York ends up at the Castle residence throwing a crazy party. Alexis’ anxiety is going crazy over this. The final scene is hilarious where both Castle and Alexis have their walk of shame in front of the other.
4x09 Kill Shot: The victim is killed with a shot right through the heart by a sniper from a distance which is similar to what Beckett suffered, so it brings back memories and PTSD. Poor Beckett in this episode :( She’s so distraught and struggling. Her PTSD is done beautifully in this episode, though it’s really painful to watch.
4x10 Cuffed: Ah, the episode is so entertaining, I love it. Castle and Beckett wake up in some old basement, cuffed to each other. There’s some hilarious scenes, it’s great. Also, there’s a tiger. Grrreat.
4x11 Till Death Do Us Part: Ryan and Jenny get married at the end of the episode. And there’s this adorable scene which makes so much sense considering the final seasons: Castle goes “You know what, I kind of envy him.” and Beckett says “Maybe third time’s a charm, Castle.” “Yeah, maybe.” <3
4x13 An Embarrassment of Bitches: The first scene with Martha, Castle and Alexis is hilarious where Alexis tells him that her friend’s nickname is Buttons and her last name is Dutton, so that makes her Buttons Dutton. Also, Alexis looks SO pretty omg. Castle is being mistaken for Jason Bateman again :D And that final scene with Castle and Alexis is so adorable omg. Castle wants to get a dog so that Alexis would come home from college all the time and she goes “don’t worry, I’ll come back and visit so much, you’ll be sick of me.” “Promise?”. Their whole dialog is so cute. “So.. this dog you want to get, you know, for me. This wouldn’t be an enticement to come home from college more often, would it?” “Don’t pretend like you’re smarter than me. I tought you subtext, young lady.” “Don’t worry. I’ll come back and visit so much, you’ll be sick of me.” “Promise?” “Yeah.” and a little while later he whispers “welcome home”. I can’t stress enough how important their relationship is to me.
4x14 The Blue Butterfly: This episode. You either love it or hate it. I love it. I love the 40s setting. I love seeing the cast in different roles. It’s just great and entertaining and interesting. A very special episode in my opinion. Also, the title card is a special one (well, the music is different).
4x15 Pandora: Martha tells Castle that Alexis is doing another internship at Castle is worried because it’s 9pm and she’s at her internship. Turns out, Alexis is interning with Lanie. It’s hilarious when she shows up at the crime scene and Castle just goes “Hey, Alexis. ... Alexis?!” Castle isn’t too thrilled about it because it’s two worlds colliding, church and state, you know. Also, Alexis blames herself because a body was stolen from the autopsy when she was in the other room talking on the phone for a minute - which Lanie finds fascinating because Castle wouldn’t care at all and Alexis just carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. I’m not too fond of the episode, though. It’s too CIA for me. Too much secret agency.
4x16 Linchpin: Last episode’s storyline continues, it’s a two parter. It’s so awkward when Castle and Beckett fight in the autopsie about Castle having had a thing with the CIA woman - and Alexis walks up right behind them. There’s a nice shot of Beckett with wet hair and in an NYPD jacket/hoodie, she looks so good omg. Also, the CIA woman mentions Castle’s father and him being very proud of Castle dying in battle, dying a hero and about Castle’s father having to do with the CIA.
4x17 Once Upon a Crime: OH MY GOD IT’S KELLY SEVERIDE I HAD NO IDEA HE WAS IN AN EPISODE OF CASTLE BEFORE OMFG. He plays the boyfriend/husband of Leslie, the victim’s sister. LESLIE. ... Shaaaay. (tbh I could see him being the killer because there was no real need of him so far to be in the episode, like he was such a random character that served no real purpose so far, so he could be the killer). “It’s him” omg I knew it. They are interrogating him and we’re only in minute 32, it’s not him. “It wasn’t him.” I knew it. Ah, I like the episode. It’s simple and I can actually follow the plot and it has fun moments aaaand it features Kelly Severide, it’s like fandoms coliding.
4x18 A Dance with Death: “Well, separated at birth twin storylines never end happy. Except The Parent Trap”. Awww. Richard Castle has seen The Parent Trap and even referenced it. It’s so cute when Alexis talks about the autopsy report and Castle is so proud and hugs her and she goes “Dad. Work. Boundaries.” It’s just so cute how proud he is of her <3.
4x19 47 Seconds: I’m so excited to rewatch this episode because I love it. There’s an explosion that kills several people taking part in a protest. The images are awful and really get to you. Beckett, Castle and the rest of the team are shocked, too. So many innocent victims. A boy dead who was just about to go to college. A mother of two dead. It’s just awful. Alexis is also in the autopsy working and she’s clearly exhausted and can’t handle it. When Castle sees her, he goes up to her and she tells him that she was fine until she saw a bracelet on someone’s arm that was made by a little kid - just like the one she made for Castle when she was six and Castle still has that bracelet. He tells her to go home but she says she still has work to do, but he tells her again to go. “Let’s get you out of here.” It’s really ... I can’t find the right word, adorable or cute don’t seem right ... heart-warming sort of to see how he cares about her and makes sure she gets a break. Also, Martha tells Castle to be open to Beckett about his feelings because this tragedy makes them all realize how fragile life is. It’s hilarious when Gates lowkey compliments Castle and he goes “I think she’s finally starting to like me” and then Gates “No, I’m not.” And then the episode gets all sad again when Alexis makes emergency-cheering-up-pancakes for Castle and Alexis explains that after the other day, she thought they could both need some cheering up. And Castle says “You shouldn’t need cheering up. You shouldn’t have even been there. You should’ve been with your friends or at the movies.” “Dad, I’m 18.” “I know. I know, it’s just... You’re gonna see plenty of reality in your lifetime. I just would like you to keep the rose color on your glasses for as long as possible.” <3 “You’re a pretty smart kid, you know that?” “Well... they say genius skips a generation.” “Apparently, so does funny.” “Eat your pancake.” <3 Also, Beckett is in interrogation and Castle is watching and she tells the suspect that she was shot in the chest and remembers every second and Castle is like ‘wait what’. Ever since then, Castle is very distant toward Beckett, very cold, reserved. It breaks your heart but also makes you realize that we’re close to the season finale. THE season finale.
4x20 The Limey: Lanie tells Beckett to tell Castle already how she feels. And then Castle arrives to the crime scene with some hot chick and Lanie goes “or maybe not”. “Sometimes it’s the people we think we know best that we don’t know at all” GOD IT’S SO FRUSTRATING. There’s this hilarious scene where Castle tells Ryan and Esposito his plan involving the three of them (about getting fingerprints off someone) and it’s hilarious when he puts up their pictures and Castle’s picture is flawless of course and Ryan and Espo both look funny, it’s hilarious.
4x21 Headhunters: Detective Slaughter! It’s hilarious because Slaughter is such a character. NPYD! :D Slaughter talks about Alexis in a real disrespectful manner (’that girl’s barely street legal’ ‘she’s got an ass’ ‘that hot redhead’) and Castle just hits him and tells him to stay away from Alexis (”my daughter is off limits”) but it’s so cute how protective he gets over her especially since we’re talking about Slaughter and Castle is so afraid of him. Alexis gets her University replies and she pretty much got into every University she applied to. At the end of the episode, she thinks about what decision to make and they end up having ice cream because that’ll help. Aww. It’s adorable how they race each other to the freezer.
4x22 Undead again: The beginning of the episode is HILARIOUS. It starts off really suspenseful, with someone entering the Castle residence, all dressed in black, it looks like a crime is about to happen. The music is all serious. Alexis is sitting on the couch, on her ipad. The camera shows a picture of Castle and Alexis. The unknown person sneaks through the apartment, then right up to Alexis. Turns out, it’s Castle playing lasertag. Man, this could’ve been some good shit. And then you get your heart broken when Alexis says she wants to go to either Stanford or Oxford because they are both far away and she wants to challenge herself and not come home every other day. And Castle says “But who’s gonna play with me?” :( “I think it’s time to holster the laser guns and be adults.” Noo :( Poor Castle, he’s really not doing too great at the end of season 4. Alexis is about to leave, things with Beckett aren’t exactly going great. “That, my friends... is a zombie. The killer is a zombie!” and Castle walks on the hallways highfiving a random person :D And then it gets even better when Martha distracts Castle at home and Alexis surprises him with laser tag and beats him. It’s hilarious. Then, at the morgue, Perlmutter goes “He was a live man, now he’s a dead man” and then stabs a needle into his leg - and right in that moment the zombie man comes back to life and runs away. Beckett “Castle, call for backup!” and Castle tries using the morgue phone but doesn’t know the code “how do I, what do I” “9″. Beckett and Castle are driving me CRAZY with not talking about it and just talking in codes. “When a life altering moment happens, you remember.” “Well, maybe it was too big to deal with.” JUST TALK. They kinda do at the end of the episode. Only kinda though. The final scene is hilarious. Similar to the beginning, just Alexis sneaking up on Castle who’s still wearing his zombie makeup thus freaking Alexis out which makes Castle win this one. He reaches 1,000 points and techincally, the game is over. But Alexis decides 2/3. And she also decides to go to Columbia because she realized she can’t go that far away. Yay <3 The moment she realizes it is really adorable and sad though.
4x23 Always: THE storyline continues. The one with Beckett’s mom, Montgomery. The title card is so dramatic. Barely any music, the sky is greenish. The scene where Beckett is hanging off that building makes me so anxious oh my God. Even though I know it’ll be fine, there’s this tingling in my hand, in my feet, in my stomach. And then comes the iconic ending. In My Veins is playing. Alexis’ beautiful speech with Castle sitting proudly in the audience. Shit going down at the precinct. Kevin’s “Javi, I had to”. Beckett sitting on the swingset in the rain. Castle deleting her mother’s case files. Then the knock on the door.

I've missed the last few episodes of aos, could you please fill me in on what happened to fitzsimmons?
Hi Anon! Firstly, I can’t believe I post enough about Fitzsimmons now to get asks about them. It’s like my entire existence on this website for the last 2.5 seasons has been validated hahaha
Anyway, yes I can indeed fill you in! :) If you’re after a brief summary: they’re separated again, the Framework is the AU from hell, Aida is public enemy number 1 and while we’re suffering now many are sure there’s hope of better things (cough engagement cough) on the way. A more detailed summary is below the cut, because 4x16/17 spoilers.
Alrighty, in case you missed the end of the LMD arc, in a nutshell - things went south pretty quickly, and what we were all dreading actually happened: one of Fitzsimmons had been switched out. Long story short, it was Fitz, and Jemma had to basically kill his LMD to escape the base (honestly one of the most disturbing things to watch, the way Iain flipped between normal Fitz and LMD!Fitz was super fast and extremely creepy). With the rest of the gang being held somewhere unknown, Jemma and Daisy went into the Framework to find everyone, wake them up and get the hell out.
And now, into the Framework: Jemma and Daisy have taken over their avatars (oh, and Jemma pulled herself out of a mass grave because in the Framework she’s dead), but seeing as they’ve basically broken in they’ve both still got their memories and know the Framework isn’t real. Sadly the same cannot be said for everyone else. The team are living completely different lives in there, and oooh boy is it weird. In the Framework, Hydra is running things (no idea why, we haven’t really gotten to that yet). Fitz works for them and is known as the Doctor. From what I can tell, he seems to be the second-in-command for Hydra, and is basically a stone-cold killer who likes to “experiment” on Inhumans (no, I’m not joking, this week we were forced to watch him straight-up murder someone and I still have not recovered). From the episodes so far and from Wondercon spoilers, it appears Fitz and Jemma have never met in the Framework. Oh, and to top it all off, Aida has transformed herself into Ophelia aka Madame Hydra and is in a freaking relationship with Fitz. It’s gross and makes me mad every time she’s on screen, but yep it’s a thing. Jemma’s still insistent that the Fitz she knows and loves is inside him somewhere, so she’s pretty keen to get to him. However, Aida is hugely against that, to the point where I’m 99% sure she’s the reason Framework!Jemma was dead in the first place. But anyway, Jemma witnessed Fitz shoot someone this episode and didn’t take it well at all. There was also a brief second where you thought Fitz remembered her, but no apparently there’s more pain and suffering to go until this is over with. Oh, and Fitz took Daisy away in the 4x17 tag for a little inhuman torture, so won’t 4x18 be fun. I think that’s about it? If I forgot anything, can someone else please chime in! The rest of the team’s storylines are just as hectic, but that’s a whole other post.
Honestly, the only positive Fitzsimmons thing the Framework has given us so far is middle names haha (Jemma Anne Simmons and Leopold James Fitz).
But anyway, next episode is Fitz-centric, possibly features his father, and was written by the guy responsible for FZZT in Season 1, so no doubt there’s more drama and pain coming our way. The angst is killing me, but I also can’t wait till next Tuesday! Hope that’s what you were after, feel free to check back in then for an update on why the fandom is dying again next week hahaha :)

IMPORTANT CANON DIVERGENT PSA
( with the start of s5 around the corner I have decided to repost this again in hope it doesn’t get lost/forgotten, because yes, in my canon Helga is still very much alive ❤ please keep in mind that I will use my canon divergent for EVERY interaction/thread taking place in s4/5 or any of the seasons that are still to come. )
Why have you chosen to do this?
Truth be told, Angrboða‘s unnecessary death was more enough for me and @flokithetrickster to go canon divergent almost immediately. A lot of things just felt extremely ooc to both of us regarding Floki and Helga’s s4b timeline, and especially the whole Tanaruz thing left me feeling unusually uncomfortable, because that was not the Helga I’d grown to love so much. In my eyes her death was pointless, like so many other deaths on the show, which is why we both have decided to go fully canon divergent when it comes to these seasons.
So can you tell us a little more about your canon divergent?
The most important thing we want you to know is that in our canon divergent Floki IS the God Loki.
