oh i really really loved it! i especially adored prince andrey and natasha, both together and as their own characters! i did feel that natasha and pierre getting married in the end was a little sudden, but not exactly terrible — just different from what i expected. i also really liked maria and nikolay’s relationship, even though it was at sonya’s expense :,( i related to sonya a bit too! i didn’t really like the long tangents tolstoy would go on about really honestly random stuff, but it was good overall!

I kinda just started talking to people who seemed approachable and open to conversation.

You really do have to just start doing things. Of course you need to be kind and understanding, and know when to leave someone alone if they're not interested in making friends, and all that nice stuff. But you do need to talk to people.

Ask games are a nice way to start. If someone reblogs one, send in an ask off anon. Oh! One big thing is to never send anonymous messages if they're kind or interesting. I keep getting anonymous messages like this one, and I would love to talk to the person who sent it! Be open, and be okay with a little bit of embarrassment, it's fine.

One thing that I'd advise for anyone who wants to talk to me, at least, is not to start with small talk completely out of the blue, it kind of sets me on high alert. This mostly applies to discord for me. If someone sends me a DM and we share one server that I've never spoken in, and they've never spoken in it either, I assume they want my account information.

Instead, start with something you have in common, if you can. Anything at all. If someone makes a post about something or mentions something you care about, I consider that an invitation to talk to them about that thing.

Once I had amassed a few people on tumblr who had gone from complete strangers to strangers I had had a couple positive interactions with, I started a discord server and invited them all just to come hang out. Now I have a handful of really cool new friends!!
