You know, I am stunned at the lack of logic and critical thinking in this fandom. It’s like those with extreme opinions have such strong confirmation bias that they can’t get out of their own way. When I read some of these posts on lots of different blogs, I am struck at the logical questions that are never truly answered- well except by ad hominem attacks and logical fallacies and extensive conspiracy theories.

1. Wouldn’t a TV show that’s not on a well-known and popular streaming service love the PR they’d get if their costars were actually in love and in a real life relationship? What value does the production company gain by keeping them hidden for almost 10 years? I can’t logically see that it would bring more profits. So we’re supposed to love a loyal, brave, committed, and family-oriented Jamie, but we need a single, sexy Sam to sell the show?? Cognitive dissonance anyone?

2. Now that it’s well established that Sam and Caitriona essentially ARE Outlander and are EPs, wouldn’t they have the power to say no more if this “ narrative” was true? If they quit, there’s no OL. Couldn’t they refuse to film anything else if they aren’t allowed to tell the truth (if it’s hidden)? It’s interesting that Ron and Terri are married, Maril and Matt have twins together, but S and C were forbidden to be together? I would think that could be a legitimate lawsuit. Didn’t they renegotiate new contracts since the first season?

3. Do people actually believe that Sam and Caitriona are good people, philanthropic people, hard working entrepreneurial people, wonderful human beings but at the same time think that either of them would actually lie about their own children? With Sam’s childhood, people honestly think he would deny his kids AND be away from them for months? That they both would lie and deceive us about her father’s funeral?

4. So it’s been 10 years and NOT ONE person associated with either of them has publicly and clearly stated, with no doubts or other possible connotations, that they are really together? No costars? No personal friends? No teacher of their kids? No hospital personnel where the kids were born? No extras on OL? No crew members- even those that have been gone long enough that any NDA they signed about the production would have expired? No hotel staff where they may have traveled with their kids? No former “fake gfs” who might be pissed? No friends of “ fake gfs” that want to defend their friend and set the record straight? Not one person who has been associated with OL who might just think this is harmful to children? No photos of them with kids in public- clear photos, not reflections or someone in the background that we cannot clearly identify? Not videos where we cannot tell who is actually there? Wouldn’t someone somewhere have gotten a photo of them together as a family? In ten years? Have you P, seen evidence that I haven’t? I have seen nothing but reflections, blurry images, unidentifiable people in the background. Am I missing something?

5. About their chemistry- they aren’t the only actors I have ever seen that have great chemistry but no real romantic relationship. There are lots of them. It’s like people don’t know what actors actually do. So much of chemistry in acting between actors is about trust and respect for the work. Even some of the best chemistry has been between actors who didn’t really like each other in real life, but were able to use their chemistry and their talent to create characters we believed loved each other.

6. Lastly, I can’t wrap my brain around liking and respecting these two actors for their work and for their real lives, while claiming every day they are lying to me.

People see what they want to see or what they need to see to support their position.

Occam’s Razor tells me that the simplest explanation is often the best one.

Hopefully when OL finally ends, these two will get some peace.

Bless you Anon for summarizing everything I and countless other SANE fans have been saying in the Outlander fandom for the last 9 years. The thing is...some Extreme Shippers continue to ship for a few reasons. I put them in these categories:

1. OG shippers who have invested SO many YEARS in their SamCait fantasy ship. They want to "save face." It's embarrassing to acknowledge that you were fed and believed a LIE for so long. Their egos can't handle it, so they'd rather double down, and find a way to pretzel their brains around things that are obvious facts to the rest of us. They don't want to feel like they "lost." So, they just keep on denying the TRUTH and the mountains of evidence showing that Sam and Cait are not a couple in real life. The alternative is too painful to them. It's been too much time, too much energy, too much of themselves invested in the ship, and they are missing something in their real lives. The ship fills that void.

2. New fans to Outlander who have recently discovered it. They've gone down the rabbit hole of shipper Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter X accounts and they haven't climbed their way out yet to blogs like mine, and other Non-Shippers.

3. The Fake Shippers who pretend to be shippers to MAKE MONEY off those still clinging on to the life boats. There are still bloggers and shipper groups who know they have a captive audience in shippers holding out hope that some of what the original shipper leaders sold them might actually be true. These fake shippers manipulate gifs, pictures, videos, SHOW shippers what they WANT to see. They keep them hanging on with podcasts, magazine, subscriptions. They sell them trips to Scotland, conventions t-shirts, mugs, daily "proof" that Sam and Cait secretly live together with their 5 bairns. And because con artists are experts at conning people, they make everything believable...and some poor souls buy what they're selling. Literally BUY 💵 what they're selling. Sadly, this fandom is filled with a lot of retired women with disposable income, who are lonely or disillusioned with their own lives. And they are easy pickings for the money hungry fake shippers.

So, in summary, the reason there are still some SamCait Shippers is a combination of fake shippers SELLING them the fantasy AND women needing to STILL hold onto the fantasy. With a few actually mentally unwell women thrown in here and there, who have diagnosable mental health issues.

It's actually quite sad. If only they had gotten off the ship with the rest of us years ago, they could have been enjoying celebrating REAL love. Instead, they're on a constantly rocky ship that causes them disappointment more often than not. Here, on terra firma, no one needs Dramamine. It's lovely. Because it's REAL. 💞

Hi, so-called “shipper” here if we have to put a label on it, but I don’t believe I fall into any of the buckets you mentioned in your response to recent anon. I haven’t been here that long, I have no need to project any of my fantasies onto actors, I have read lots of opposing blogs, and I’m not mentally ill. I don’t think Sam and caitriona have 5 children (which much of anon’s argument is based on, I might add). I have some of the same questions as anon, yet on the flip side, there are enough other things that don’t add up that make me think they might actually be together. I won’t proclaim to “know” things but I am discerning enough to see which “receipts” could’ve been completely made up by someone with an agenda vs. which come straight from a source. Also, in response to a comment about how ES would lose it if faced with this logic: I think that exemplifies the problem with this fandom. We all have our different beliefs and are focused on reinforcing those and proving others wrong. There’s no room for polite discourse and collective brainpower to try to solve for the things that we can all likely agree are fishy…even if we won’t admit it to each other. I think I know what a lot of counterpoints to that would be, so maybe it’s not worth saying. Point is, we all have access to different “facts” and we all believe different things accordingly. It would be nice if we could be more kind to each other as a result. Thanks for reading.

I appreciate you reaching out, Anon. But given I've been in the Outlander fandom for 9 years and know all the back history, I have to disagree with you. You DO fall into one of the categories I mentioned in my previous post. You are still in category #2. 👇

You have fallen down the rabbit hole of shipper blogs and are prey to their manipulations. I have to admit some of them are very good at making their cases. BUT, the good news is you've found my blog, where you will see the TRUTH. Just scroll through my archives and there is no room for doubts. If you look at actual facts and truth, REALITY is clear: Cait and Tony have been together since 2014, have been engaged since 2018, have been married since 2019, and had a son in 2021. No matter how Extreme Shippers skew the truth, there is NO getting around the MULTITUDE of people who actually KNOW Cait, Tony, and Sam, who have publicly stated that Cait and Tony are together, and Cait and Sam are just friends and costars.

There is NO getting around the pics of Cait and Tony when he proposed to her New Year's in Australia and her FRIENDS publicly congratulating them. There is NO getting around CAIT'S MOTHER talking on an Irish radio interview about Cait and Tony being engaged. She mentions Tony by name. There is NO getting around Cait herself showing off her engagement ring and acknowledging her engagement when she was on the red carpet for the Golden Globes. There is NO getting around Cait kissing Tony on the lips and then mentioning Tony by name when thanking him at one of the awards show when she won. There is NO getting around the church announcement at St. Mary's Church in Bruton, Somerset, England that the church was booked for the wedding for A. McGill (Anthony aka Tony). And then ALL of Cait's family and friends posting on Instagram FROM Bruton at her wedding. There is NO getting around fans paying for Cait and Tony's MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE from the official UK government marriage license website. The official legal document clearly shows Caitriona Mary Balfe marrying Anthony (Tony) Gerard McGill on August 10, 2019. Both their fathers names are in it. There is NO getting around Cait herself announcing the birth of her one and only son in August 2021. Those are indisputable FACTS.

If you want to say the HUNDREDS of Cait and Tony sightings, pics, and confirmation by family, friends, fans, costars stating that Cait and Tony are a couple, and Cait and Sam are not, can be explained away. Fine, but you CANNOT explain away official church announcements, legal documents, Cait herself telling you, and God help anyone who would be dumb enough to DARE say Cait's mother was lying about Cait and Tony being engaged. The Irish are tough people and no one messes with an Irish mum.

Anon, as for everyone has different opinions and have access to different "facts." There is ONLY ONE FACT/TRUTH. Cait and Tony are married and there is a legal document from the UK government public registrar that PROVES that. You can have an OPINION about this FACT. But you cannot say that "fact" is in dispute. FACTS are by their very definition factual, truthful. The FACT is Cait and Tony are married. Your opinion can be that you don't like them being married. But you can't dispute that they are indeed married.

If after ALL the proof, including the legal document, you don't believe they are actually married, or you have your doubts, then you are not using your full mental faculties. I'm sorry to be so blunt. But there's no sugar coating it. Any rational, reasonable, logical person with a fully functioning brain cannot be faced with a marriage certificate from the UK registrar (a copy that MANY fans were able to order and pay for) and then say it's fake. The ONLY ones trying to convince people that it's fake are Extreme Shippers. Literally the only ones. The rest of us accept REALITY.

I do appreciate you wanting to be kind and asking for kindness in return. The thing is it's difficult for me to be kind to Extreme Shippers who have made MY life hell for the last 9 years. And have also attacked and harassed Cait, Sam, Tony, any woman associated with Sam, Diana Gabaldon, any cast, crew, family, friends, and any fan who got in the way of the Sam Cait ship. In summary, the FACTS and ONE AND ONLY TRUTH is Cait is married to Tony and they have one son together. If they want to still sell their LIES to unsuspecting new fans, that's on them, but I'm not going to dialogue with terrorists. Their only goal is destruction. And there's no room for discourse or civility when that's the case. And make not mistake, that IS the case.

I believe it was actually on August 10, 2022, that Sam posted this IG story letting us know he had attended the John Legend concert. John Legend was playing in Las Vegas. But Sam didn't attend the show on August 10. More on that down below.

I posted this video screencap sent in DM showing Sam and a tall brunette enjoying the concert. 👇 We later found out the brunette was Karina Elle, with whom Sam had been traveling throughout US national parks in a camper van in July of 2022. (Search my blog for those posts and that proof). 👇They obviously continued their time together in August of 2022 in Las Vegas.

I know, I know, Extreme Shippers will say that this means he could have been at Cait's dad's funeral on August 10. Uh, that would be a negatory. Unless, ES think Sam is in a romantic relationship Cait, yet went to a concert in Las Vegas with Karina Elle just a few days before the funeral. AND was so unfeeling as to post the August 10 "What a show!" describing the John Legend concert ON THE SAME DAY as Cait's dad's funeral. It's SO obvious Sam either didn't know the funeral was that day or wasn't paying close enough attention...since he's not actually in a real life couple with Cait.

BUT, here is PROOF POSITIVE Sam could NOT have been in Ireland on August 10th because he was in MEXICO. After hanging out with Karina Elle in July and then being with her in Las Vegas in early August, Sam went to Mexico with Alex Norouzi for his tequila business. So, I hope that's what you were looking for Anon. Despite the CONCRETE proof above, Extreme Shippers will still find a way to pretzel their brains around it, which is what they already did. They claimed Sam was in a wig, a disguise at the funeral, etc. It is SO ridiculous, it boggles the mind.

The other thing I don't understand about ES is WHY would they want to ship a couple that seems to continuously "lie" to them, "deceive," them, "hide" their love from them? That's not a fun couple to ship. If I'm going to ship a couple, I want them publicly all over each other, declaring their love from the rooftops, parading their 10 kids all over the place. ES' assertion that Cait altered the public legal document to fool fans into thinking she and Tony are a couple so as to keep hiding SamCait secret love is Ridiculous. Cait cannot do that. It is prepared by the company, not Cait. The property was bought in 2017, before they were married. It's clear they were planning a future together. And they sold it in May 2023 after they were married--hence both their names on the documents.

So, no, Extreme Shippers, I do not put forth any "narrative," that is ES' specialty. I simply post info, facts, and THE TRUTH--there is only one. 🤷‍♀️ And I just showed you AGAIN.

Anyone in 2023 who STILL thinks Sam and Cait are secretly married with kids is one of three things:

1. Brand new to the fandom and haven't bothered to do a simple Google search with ALL the proof positive Cait is married to Tony McGill, and they have one son together.

2. Are Extreme Shippers with mental health issues who have a void in their lives that the SamCait fantasy fills.

3. Are Extreme Shippers or fake Extreme Shippers who realized they can make money off other ES, and they perpetuate the LIE in order to keep the cash flowing in for themselves. i.e. monetizing their blogs, channels, selling SamCait merchandise, trips to Scotland, special investigations into SamCait lives, newsletters about SamCait. Those types of ES will CONTINUE the SamCait lie as long as there are naive ES willing to shell out cash for the fantasy. Sad, but true. 🤷‍♀️

You decide which type SHW is. But I literally forget she exists until someone sends me an Anon Ask like you just did.

As Sam infamously said, "I suggest you ignore."

Huh? Banished by whom? Everyone is on their own world, unless you're a fan of BOTH like I am.

Obviously Cait Onlys are in their own Cait world and many of them look down on Sam, and Cait walks on water. And Sam Onlys are also in their own world and many of them look down on Cait, and Sam walks on water. Then the Extreme Shippers are in their SamCait world and look down on everyone else, and BOTH Sam and Cait walk on water.

But there are MANY of us, including ME, who are fans of BOTH, but we don't think EITHER of them walk on water. I admire both Sam and Cait, but I don't idolize them--they're both imperfect humans...and actually, that makes me like them more. 🤷‍♀️

I posted VIDEO source proof and TWO other separate eyewitness accounts CONFIRMING that Sam and Mackenzie were seen together at the game, definitely acting like a couple. And Extreme Shippers couldn't deal with REALITY, so they scoured the internet high and low and found this random couple 👇 and proclaimed that was Sam and Cait at the baseball game.

Uh, except there was irrefutable multiple third party source PROOF Cait was not with Sam, Mackenzie was. Oh and BTW, the couple above is NOT Sam and Cait. Cait is taller than that brunette, and the shirt Sam was wearing that day had stiching on the collar. Here he is with one of the people who recognized him at the game and got a pic with him. 👇

Sadly, as soon as Extreme Shippers got hold of the pic of FAUX Sam and Cait, they then spread it throughout Shipperville. And thus, ALL of my independent and confirmed sources at the game were deemed null and void. And the FALSE NARRATIVE that this 👇 was Sam and Cait at the game became fandom shipper canon forevermore. 🙄

Soooooo, let me hit you with some FACTS...and TRUTH...and actual REAL SOURCE PROOF of Sam and Mackenzie being at the game as a REAL couple.

Just like most things Extreme Shippers and Haters have spread about me for the last 8 years, your friend has told you a LIE. I have NO restraining orders on me by either Cait or Sam. If your friend is showing you "proof," then it is FAKE.

FYI: in order to serve someone with a restraining order, you have to know their full identity and serve them IN PERSON. At least, in California you do. I have lawyer and police friends in Los Angeles, where I live, so I know this for sure.

Despite what ES and Haters think, I am still Anon in this fandom. Can't serve restraining order papers to someone whose identity you don't know. IOW YOU and your friend are full of shit. Also, if I had restraining order or cease and desist order from either Sam or Cait, I wouldn't be able to continue posting about them. Logic, try it sometime. 🙄

We know if S&C were together, the PTB would love the PR. So I’m curious. What “reason” do shippers give that those powers would want to hide it? Makes no sense.

They've given lots of reasons throughout the years, none of which make any sense.

But the two main ones are: 1. that Starz/Sony have a "no fraternizing" rule that prevents any actors on Outlander from being romantically involved. As a result, Sam and Cait have had to hide their relationship and 5 children all this time. 🙄

The DEBUNK on that is that NO studio has dictated actors' dating lives since circa 👇

2. Starz/Sony sold the "Sam is single" narrative to attract female followers who could then fantasize that Sam was available to them and ready to mingle with fans. 🙄

The DEBUNK on that is: Outlander is the epic love story of an epic couple... and women love that shit. Case in point, in the beginning of Outlander, we ALL wanted Sam and Cait to be a real couple. And Cait being with Sam in real life would NOThave deterred any fan from still fantasizing about Sam. Just like ALL the male actors out there who have significant others and women still swoon over them. Cait and Sam being together in real life AND WITH children would have been PR gold, and Diana Gabaldon would be writing Outlander volume 15 right now, trying to keep up with the demand. JS. 😊

So, yes, Extreme Shippers' beliefs make NO sense but they still hold onto them. 🤷‍♀️
