I don’t know if it’s Kinoko Nasu, or Type-Moon as a whole, or if it’s just coincidental, but there’s a real thing about the nature of dreams as a very long running theme.

The continuation of Artoria’s dream, of an eternal, prosperous kingdom.

Iskandar’s dream of a world united under a single banner.

Morgan’s dream of a Britain that was hers.

Mordred’s dream of being accepted by Artoria.

Goetia’s dream of a world where nobody ever suffered or died.

Patxi’s dream of an unclouded sky.

Dreams, both as the ephemeral thing experienced whilst asleep, and as an often unreachable aspiration, and their intersection, have a long theme in the nasuverse.

Dreams of ambition. Dreams of heroism. Dreams of acceptance, dreams of love.

Dreams of a normal life.

And Gilgamesh’s words to Iskandar, in Fate Zero, are circling in my brain incessantly.

“All Dreams end when the Dreamer Wakes.”

It cycles to Fate Grand Order, too. The Lostbelts are all akin to the Dreams of those within. And we, the ones who by circumstance are forced to rouse awake. To end the dream.

But the end of a dream does not mean the dream was meaningless. Dreams have always had meaning, comprehensible or otherwise. To reach for an unreachable goal, an unreachable star, is only a futile act in a vacuum.

Your aspirations may one day inspire others. They may aspire, and inspire others.

Your dream may well be carried into some far flung future, far beyond anything you could even imagine. In those places, in those times, the light you reached for might be a light for others as well.

oh while i'm on the subject of the con i want to say i also found this anime booklet that had no fewer than THREE illustrations of waver i had never seen before (sorry for phone pictures, i might scan them eventually)

yes waver gets a full page in both rider's section AND his own section. (gil is the only other one to get two full pages like this. kiritsugu, the ostensible main character, gets one page. waver sweep etc)

they also put him at the kids table. smh he was having a MOMENT there with his stolen library books >:(
