tbh i think if a mattel cinematic universe goes forward it's going to flop so hard because like first of all barbie is the star of that shit everyone knows barbie so many people played with barbies globally etc. and second related point the barbie movie is a funny premise because it's a movie about that toy we all know and it relied on what all jokes rely on which is being a little surprising like okay GRETA GERWIG? BARBIE? MARGOT ROBBIE? you hear this for the 1st time and you're a bit shocked like they pulled words from a hat. then you watch it and the tone and the spectacle get you again. and it's funny. lena dunham polly pocket lily collins feels like you're just copying a joke someone just made. not funny.

theres two things i rly want to answer this ask with and i feel like both need to be expressed:

the first thing is i am SO sorry if i ever gave u the impression i actually wanted alpine to get newey and climb out of their flop era like i cannot emphasise enough how NOT true that is. they're not my behatedest team but theyre a close second and seeing them suffer brings me so much joy. i am filled with brightness and gratitude

the second thing is despite genuinely believing ocon is a good driver and a better one than gasly like. out of the two of them one has a long and thorough reputation of crashing into his teammates and its very much not the name u censored. like famously so. ive disliked gasly's slimy crypto bro tendencies for years and have had like genuine beef with him since miami 2022 (maybe arguably since france 2021) but like. he doesnt crash into his teammates, as a rule. the guy in the other alpine DOES, as a rule

anyways idk how i feel abt this ask bc like in essence i agree with it in that 1. i think french ppl r flops (sorry to my one french beloved mutual u know who u are) and 2. renault / alpine DO historically find ways to flop even when the odds r in their favour. however i do also find it kinda cringe and untrue just bc despite not rly liking either of them i do think both of the drivers r genuinely trying their best and its (almost) never rly been their fault that alpine is such a flop. also like who give a shit rene descartes ykwim

(not meaning to bombard u w asks btw take ur time 😭 😭 im just talking) “this is fiction i’m here for what’s interesting not what’s, like, morally correct, you know.” LITERALLY. xue yang to me is one of the most interesting characters in mdzs like even if you don’t like him he is very well written. i get very irritated when ppl reduce him to someone who was “just born like that.” like okay… i think you missed the point a little. he is obviously a product of his environment. but i also hate when i talk abt his childhood n how it effected and someone’s like “yeah but that doesn’t justify it” yeah i know……. i’m not trying to!!!!!! i love that he is like that<3 he rlly speaks to me. xy is for everyone who didn’t become a nice good better stronger person from trauma just more fucked up<3 maybe he was a little extreme with it but like u said he’s not real

i remember when people were like “would u feel the same way if another driver said that abt lando??” like if it's true, yes. i wasn't blaming oscar when lando fucked it in quali this year, i was like my guy, can u get your shit together. u are better than this wtf are u doing. which is largely the frustration lando felt with daniel in many of his interviews. maybe not that exact one but overall he seemed to believe daniel was better than his performance indicated.

i mean yeah. bar maybe (as u mentioned) qatar lando fans cant really relate fully to the daniel situation but as a checo stan i know what its like to support a flop driver. and i'm not about to throw a fit over ppl saying he's not getting everything out of the car. because it's true and he's not

but i think fundamentally what people keep forgetting about those quotes is they were published in MAY. in MAY 2021 we were BARELY four races in, and within the article lando was acknowledging the fact that it would probably take some time for daniel to get used to the car. yes the sympathy thing resurfaced in august 2022 and then, with the added context of daniel's repeatedly spoken-about mental struggles and the dwindling of his hope of more f1 success after mcl sacked him, maybe i can see people thinking its a bit unnecessarily cruel. but again. lando had said it. at the beginning of 2021. its so normal to want your teammate to help you in your strategies and wheel to wheels by being there right behind you (like lando himself was able to do for daniel come monza)

idk the worst ive seen other drivers comment abt lando was george yapping away about how lando must not be serious enough abt f1 because sometimes he does fun things in his free time and like. renee descartes who give a shit
