Vero is a bard that was terrified of herself when the Dark Urge part of her popped into her mind. Her greatest comfort amidst all the chaos she keeps unintentionally sowing is Astarion, who from the very beginning, was understanding of her. Being compelled versus doing things of your own will is something he understands and can sympathize with, and so Vero took to him and his sassy charm immediately.

I'm only in act 2 of my run so far, but I adore these two together 🥹. Seeing them happy even when there's so much chaos surrounding the two is something they both deserve.

Commissioned from the amazing @flavoredmagpie who does absolutely incredible work with people's tavs and has a style that I just want to LICK. LOOK AT THAT TAIL!! LOOK AT THE COLOR! LOOK AT THOSE EXPRESSIONS!

anyway this is my tav Lianim who is an nb asmodeus tiefling ranger that was raised by a clan of wood elves after the local tiefling enclave was destroyed by a bunch of misguided adventurer types. They were very young when this happened and don't remember much about it, and unfortunately their adoptive family didn't tell them much about what happened or about how the wider world tends to treat tieflings, so when they first ventured out of the woods and into the city, it was a bit of a rude shock. They have very little tolerance for human and human-adjacent bigotry (astarion's anti gnome bullshit is a constant conflict point for them) but especially when it's done under the guise of "fighting monsters". They tend to identify more with "monsters" and outsiders and the othered as a result, and can be cynical when the crapsack world they live in starts to get to them.

But they can also be really playful in the right context, and tend to bring a quiet chaos to the proceedings. They're the type to orchestrate pranks on everyone else in the party and never claim credit for them, just watching from the sidelines as they all blame each other instead. They recognized Astarion's chaos gremlin nonsense from a thousand paces and have made it their purpose to redirect as much of it into more harmless mischief--rather than constant straight up murder--as they can. Better that Gale get his boots stolen than that all that bottled-up Malice and Crime be unleashed on someone innocent. They're fully aware that they can't "fix him", but they're hoping to at least minimize the carnage along the way as they support him fixing himself. And as a ranger, they really do believe that if given the right support, if shown some genuine care and respect, most wounded, healing creatures will make the right choices when it matters--will claim a life for themselves that they can be proud of.

Also, they really like getting bitten. But you'll never get them to admit it to anyone else ;)

Currently reading: Book-wise, I'm re-reading The Dragon Boy, which is a funky little children's book I picked up in a thrift shop and can't find much about??? It's very charming tho. And fic-wise I am, as ever, re-reading Lord Floria's Anthology by leadernovaandthemacabre on ao3. (in fact, if I am ever NOT re-reading it, please assume I am dead.) I tend to re-read things a lot. Probably the autism.

Current obsession: Legend of Zegend, babey! I got forcibly yanked out of the SW fandom and infected with Zelda brainrot. I've got so many random sentences in my fic snippets doc it's unreal.

kicks rocks. jojo for sure. also I know ffxiv and vintage art sneak their way into my art waaay more than I realize tbh,, overall tho I think it's something that it's easier for someone else to see because usually the inspirations I can see were at least partly on purpose

Nope! Don't really plan to either, unless it's a thing where like, idk you win a raffle and get to have a day on set or something. Or I meet them randomly IRL, which is unlikely as I don't live in California lol. I don't really feel the need to get an autograph or a picture with them because what I actually want is like, a conversation, I don't care about having Evidence That I've Met This Person lol. Like I said, that's very unlikely to happen unless by complete random happenstance, such as winning a raffle or meeting them out in the world lol.

Yet another beautiful piece of Vero and Astarion by @flavoredmagpie! This lined up perfectly since I just saw the graveyard scene between these two and wanted a piece that really captured "I love you. I love this. And I want it all."

Also, can we talk about the detail in the outfits here? The gold on them looks ✨immaculate✨

Honestly, I could go on about these two all day. The parallel in their narratives has been so captivating to me, and it's one of my favorite dynamics in the game. Tav and Astarion? An absolute delight. A Durge who resists themselves for the better and Astarion who ends up as a spawn for good? A relationship dynamic I absolutely won't be able to top in any of my future runs. This is peak Astarion content for me in this run, and I'm so excited to reach the epilogue!
