Pairing: Sebastian Sallow x Gn!reader Genre: fluff, hurt/comfort Summary: After being hit with a wave of guilt for using forbidden magic, Sebastian came to help comfort you. Warnings: possible mentions of death and/or violence, use of forbidden magic, MAJOR HOGWARTS LEGACY SPOILERS!!
Tumblr media
“I want to learn the curse, and I think it’s best if I cast it on you.”
“Very well, if that’s what you want. To perform the spell, raise your wand, point it at me and declare, ‘Crucio!’ Hold on as long as you can.”
Tumblr media
In the dimly lit dorm room, shadows danced across the walls as your thoughts echoed in the silence. The air felt heavy with the weight of regret, and your mind replayed the haunting echoes of the Unforgivable curses that had become an unwelcome companion. The memories of that fateful use of the curses lingered, a bitter taste on your conscience.
Lost in contemplation, you gripped your wand tightly, the polished wood cool against your clammy palms. With a sudden surge of frustration, you flung it against the wall, the clash resonating through the room. The internal struggle between the desire for power and the realization of its consequences raged within you.
Amidst the internal turmoil, a knock on the door startled you. Composing yourself, you straightened your robes before opening it, expecting anyone but the unexpected visitor. To your surprise, Sebastian stood on the other side, a mix of concern and curiosity etched on his features.
"What do you want, Sallow?" you sighed, attempting to mask the turmoil beneath a forced smile.
Sebastian, undeterred by your facade, teased, "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed." The jest faded as he sensed your genuine distress. "Is everything alright? Ominis and I were concerned when you never showed up today."
You brushed off the worry with a lie, but Sebastian's perceptive gaze saw through it. "You're sure?" he pressed, genuine concern in his eyes. "You can tell me anything, right?"
"Yeah, I know," you nodded, attempting to divert the conversation.
Sebastian, however, wasn't easily swayed. "So tell me, what's on your mind?"
"I'm just… thinking," you confessed, the weight of guilt evident in your voice. "What if Ominis was right about using the Unforgivable Curses? What if we truly had gone too far?"
Sebastian cut through your thoughts, recognizing the source of your turmoil. "The guilt of using the dark arts," he said, his voice empathetic.
“Unforgivable curses won’t work unless you really mean them. I had to want to cause pain. And for that, I shall never forgive myself.” Ominis’ words hauntingly echoed through your mind.
You nodded.
"If you didn't want to know how to use them, you could have told me," he pointed out. "I wouldn't have shown you how to—"
"I know, Sebastian," you interrupted, reassuring him. "But I did want to know. I didn't want to tell you no."
Sebastian sighed, a complex mix of understanding and regret reflected in his eyes. "I never wanted this burden for you, especially not out of love. The dark arts are a slippery slope, and the consequences are heavy. But we can't change the past. What matters now is how we deal with it together."
He entered the room, closing the door behind him. "Let's figure this out, face the consequences, and make amends where we can. We're in this together, no matter what."
As you both settled down to talk, the room echoed with the weight of your choices, but a shared commitment to navigate the challenges ahead cast a glimmer of hope amid the shadows.

Forbidden Spell: The Wound Binding Bandage
Today, I wanted to share with all of you a new spell of mine, the wound binding bandage. This forbidden spell -which is to be drawn on bandages- is intended for first-aid, stabilizing and protecting sharp-force injuries (punctures, slashes, and stab wounds) until doctors can arrive to administer proper treatment.
Tumblr media
The spell consists of three parts; the inner [sealing] glyph (blue), the outer [binding] glyph (red), and the satellite [drying] glyphs (green).
Tumblr media
The central [sealing] glyph is the most important part of the spell, sealing the wound to quickly halt bleeding. Pull signs tug both sides of the wound back into place while the binding sign and inverted cut spell seal the wound shut. To allow the spell to seal even the deepest of wounds, claw signs are placed around the outer [binding] glyph, allowing the [sealing] glyph to reach deep into the body.
Next, the outer [binding] glyph consists of only two signs, a strengthening sign that reinforces the bandage and a winding sign that makes the bandage automatically wrap around the wound. This automatic wrapping lets the bandage be administered almost instantly, saving precious time - time that could decide between life and death.
Lastly, the satellite [drying] spells dry out the bandage (and any blood that comes in contact with it) without drying out the wound. This helps to accelerate clotting and slow blood loss while allowing the wound to stay moist and heal.
While magic used on the body can be dangerous, by taking the proper precautions, these risks can be eliminated. In the case of this spell, these precautions involve simply sealing the ink with a waterproof resin or lacquer to prevent the woodcuror from coming into contact with blood. Gauze should then be secured below the sealed portion of the bandage to prevent uncomfortable rubbing with the hardened surface.
While not a suitable replacement for proper medical treatment, the wound binding bandage has massive potential to save lives in emergency scenarios. Magic is intended to make lives better, after all. What kind of witch would I be if I didn’t lend a helping hand to those in need?

Forbidden Magic- Hope
Prowl’s helm was still swimming in confusion as he hauled away from his audience, presentation? To the high priest. Very little of what had been said had made any sort of sense to him. He had heard stories that spoke of how witches were regarded in other states, but he had always thought that they must be some sort of sparkling tale. Surely the tales of place where they were actually respected, even honored, had to be exaggertions.
But the hunter had made it seem as though this were not the case. And if this was so, was the high priest of Praxus so set on eliminating them even beyond the bounds of Praxus? Wasn’t enough to chase them out of his own place of power?
While the guards were not exactly gentle with him, Prowl realized that they seemed to be taking care to now injure him as they bustled him along. He was also surprised as he realized that instead of going down, as he assumed they would be towards some sort of holding cell or dungeon, they were actually going up levels, and the routes they were taking were back halls.
Finally they brought him to a rather plain looking door. Though when they pushed it open Prowl discovered that what lay on the other side was anything but plain. The quarters were not ostentatious, but they were lavious and luxurious. They looked like something that had come out of one of those other tales that Prowl had heard as a sparkling when they spoke of noble mansions and royal palaces.
Two more mecha appeared as though from nowhere, moving so silently that Prowl actually saw them before he sensed them. They said nothing as they took him from the guards. It did not escape Prowl how quickly the guards retreated as soon as they had handed over their charge, the door closing quietly behind.
He opened his mouth to ask questions, and froze as he found himself looking into the optics of the two. While at first glance they appeared normal, when he looked again he found them as cold as Lifespark’s, if not quite as deep. Any questions he might have had died on his glossa, and even though fear welled up in his spark and screamed at him to flee, he felt as though his frame was no longer under his control as he was steered deeper into the chambers
Another door, and then another, and another, and then- a room that was so stark it was startling in contrast to the one they had just left. Cages lined the back of what appeared to be a laboratory, It was to one of these that Prowl found himself deposited, restrained so that he could barely move and left without a sound.
It was not until the door closed again that Prowl actually heard another sound. A sound that tore at his spark in it’s familiarity.
Despair, followed by weeping.
Prowl forced his helm around until he was looking into a pair of familiar green optics. Optics that he had not seen in vorns except in dreams and memories, framed by dull but familiar faceplates. Even stripped down to bare protoform as she was, Prowl knew her.
“Originator.”
“Prowl.” The voice was soft and raspy, whether from abuse or disuse Prowl could not determine, but it was still clearly his originators voice. “Prayed non-stop that you had far enough, hidden wll enough, that they would never find you. But it seems as though Alchemist has abandoned us.”
“It was you who always encouraged us to hope and be strong, Originator.” Prowl countered gently, his spark breaking at seeing her so. “Do not give up just yet.”
“Those who come here do not leave alive.” Soarings green optics traveled along the line of cages, then over to the wall where the lights hung. Prowl’s optics followed, and only then did he actually process what she intended for him to notice.
He was thankful there was nothing in his tank to purge as he realized that the crystal lantern that lit the room were not merely functional pieces. Each one was a spark chamber, suspended from wall or ceiling, and there were hundreds.
Those who come here do not leave alive…
How many of their kind had met their fates in this very chamber?
With a deep vent Prowl dimmed his optics and focused inward, to his own spark. After a klik he found the links he sought, faint as they were for the distance between them. The whisper of Bluestreak, his creation by adoption, and the stronger light that was Smokescreen, creation borne of his own spark. They lived. Smokescreen was brave, smart, and resilient. He would not give up. So Prowl would continue to hope. He might not be able to tell her, but he would be a light for Originator as they were for him.
“Do not give up yet.”

Today's polish was ok. I was expecting it to be a little more dark red than it looked. On the nail I mostly saw a warm brown. I really liked the way the flakes would shift from green to gold to orange though. Very autumnal. And the magenta reflective glitter was pretty too. This is Forbidden Magic from Bee's Knees Lacquer.

I made a comment to my spouse today that "you can't pretend to kill a character in act 1, then actually kill them in the finale. Well, unless you're Star Trek 2."
But now thinking about it, it feels like there is a nonzero chance of HSR lifting that sequence of events directly.
Before the release of ST2, people had heard that Spock was going to die in it. To get people to relax and enjoy the movie, he "died" early on, but it was revealed to be a simulation. Then at the end, he sacrifices himself to save the Enterprise and dies for real.
I can absolutely see Firefly's story going this way.
But if you know Star Trek, you know what happens next. Spock's body is left on a planet undergoing rapid terraforming that creates life out of nothing, and he is revived in the third movie.
And what do you know, HSR also has a place where life grows wild and death has no hold. Now given how evilly it's been portrayed, they'd have to really reverse course to finish this analogy, but what if we went there next, and in 3.2, TB gets the ol Yaoshi gaze and is able to revive Firefly. Cue To Be Continued, then they finally reunite in 3.3, along with some pretty severe consequences from the Hunt.
To be clear I do not think this is likely, nor do I want it to happen (just let her on the train and be happy), but I would love to see Stelle get full abundancepilled and just give the finger to anyone who doesn't want her reviving her gf.
Or maybe I'm just really into Forbidden Girlfriend Resurrection lately. It's romantic okay
(Another theory is that she's gonna get stellaronned like us, which cures her, but is also probably Not Good in the future.)

So a lot of media does 'forbidden magic' shit and it's like using blood as a medium for magic or casting magic on a person or something. And usually it's presented well and like ah yeah I get why that would be bad I guess. But also it's kind of an intellectual thing. I don't live in the world of magic so a kind of magic that becomes super addictive is kind of, like I can use it as a metaphor for drugs but that usually falls apart if you start to consider it too much (hey would I do heroin to save someone's life? Sure I probbably wouldn't become addicted after one hit)
So it's more of an intellectual exercise of why it's bad rather then any kind of emotional reality.
Then fucking Ginka and Gluna comes along and introduces memory magic. Casting absurdly powerful magic by drawing on the strength of passionate memories and using them as fuel to cast your spells losing the memories in the process. Forgetting the person and the reason for your sacrifice as you make it.
And like.... Fuck that's some shit man. That's fuckin genius. I feel that shit. Memory magic is horrifying in ways I've never seen forbidden magic depicted before.
Don't sleep on this fuckin comic.

follow up to the forbidden beast thing- Nagos line is "I've lived a long life, and even I've never faced two forbidden beast wielders at once." though the forbidden beasts seems to be translated from Kinju for 'forbidden spell' so it does seem as though he's referring to people who use the six forbidden magics
I'd have to double check, but it's also possible that is a localization error in the translation... since Eddie himself is a Kinjuu and Zato his host/wielder.
But of course, if the conditions are right, Millia will fight alongside Zato in the Nagoriyuki battle, so there's THAT as well...
Usually it goes like this:
--Rival will Help you if you lose a match or against them at any point leading up to the Boss in stage 8.
--If you fight without losing, you'll fight your Rival, but it's still possible to lose the fight and have them assist during the next battle.
--The way you can circumvent this to get the best ending is to play all the way to Stage 8 without losing, and simply "Retry" even if you lost the match. WithOUT losing a round or taking a round loss. Sometimes this involves throwing the match completely, but it can still be done.
--Even if you lost a bunch of times solo against the boss, so long as you won the first two rounds of the match, the game qualifies you for Stage 9's boss... and in that state, even if you lose a round, you still get the best possible ending.

What’s that last book you read based on someone else’s recommendation?
I add a lot of books to my tbr based on other people’s recs. It’s kind of a problem. 😂 My tbr is huuuuge. However, one of the last books I read based on a @rainbowcrate recommendation (that wasn’t a monthly book) was In Deeper Waters by F.T. Lukens. I think this was a monthly pick back in 2021, but before I was a subscriber, so I still count it as a recommendation.
In Deeper Waters is set in a queer normative world with 1. pirates, 2. kidnapped royalty, 3. forbidden magic, and 4. merpeople. I read it around the time I was super deep into the Our Flag Means Death fandom and needed more gay pirate media to consume. This book doesn’t have gay pirates, exactly, but it definitely has the vibes. Highly recommend.

Forbidden Magic- Payment
“You are sure he is one?”
“As many as I’ve brought you and you still question me?”
Prowl ignored the exchange. He was tired, beyond tired. His frame ached. His helm ached. But neither pain came close to the pain in his spark. There was small comfort in knowing that his creations had escaped the hunters, but that was all it was. A small comfort.
Had Smokescreen been able to make it to Ratchet? He knew that they were not dead, but that was all. Hurt, lost… beyond his ability to help… He had fought.
A jerk to his chevron brought his helm up, and Prowl found himself staring into the cold optics of a priest. He was marked as priest of Primus, one of the high priests no less. Prowl’s spark went cold as his tired processor supplied a designation to match the faceplates.
Lifespark.
It was his designation that was signed to all of the proclamations and ordinances condemning Prowl’s kind. It was his closest disciples that spread the word from city to town to village all across Praxus. He had been high priest longer than any other on record, his spark and frame seemingly ageless.
“Witches garden in full season behind his hab.” Shadelock elaborated. “Bags all packed to run with supplies that won’t spoil and concoctions that the average mecha wouldn't know what to do with. And final proof?”
The dark plated hunter held out a cracked crystal, a the keystone that Prowl had used as he fought to give his creations time to flee. “Laid out two of my band with this before we could get it away from him. Set two more on their heels with a short blade.”
Lifespark took the dull crystal shard and rolled it in his servo critically before nodding once. “Very well. You will be paid your standard rate. I will take care of this abomination, and all of it’s tools. See Abacus. He will have your payment, and another lead.”
“In Praxus?” Shadelock demanded as he let go of Prowl’s chevron, allowing the his helm to fall forward again.
‘Monoplex.”
“Mono-. Forget it.”
The cold optics flashed. “What did you say?” The high priests voice was soft, but the threat was there, an undercurrent of icey warning.
“I said forget it.” Shadelock repeated, refusing to back down, one servo resting on his hip as he met the priests optics squarely. “Sure, Praxis is convinced that witch-coded mecha are the spawn of Unicron, but that only goes so far. Catching this one in Polyhex was a trick. You aren’t paying me enough to keep hunting them that far.”
“They are an abomination. They must be destroyed by the will of Primus-”
“Save the slag-speech.” The hunter interrupted. “I do it for the credits, not the good will of your god. Not my problem that you’ve managed to hunt down all the ones close. I don’t care why you want them or what you do with them, but if I’m risking life and limb hunting them outside of Praxus, my rate’s tripled.”
Prowl felt as much heard the hiss of anger that escaped the priest, and it sent a tiny shudder through his frame. There was something deeply malevolent about the sound. Beside him, even Shadelock seemed knocked back a bit, though the hunter stood his ground with continued confidence and bravado.
“If you will not serve the will of Primus, I shall find one that will. Out..” Lifespark ordered.
“Yah, good luck with that. If you change your processor let me know.”” Shadelock quipped as he departed.

I think something that people might be struggling with re: Dungeon Meshi is like, there aren't really that many genuinely bad people in the story. There is a villain, and I won't spoil that, but people do seem to be acting like Kabru and Toshiro are antagonists or just bad people, and granted the story doesn't exactly paint them sympathetically at first, but they really aren't. No one in this story is a bad person, they all have nuanced backstories and worldviews and personalities that make them the way they are, and the conflict is a result of them clashing because they can't always understand each other.
Like almost every character aside from Laios' party and Senshi are introduced in a way that makes you unsure of them, makes you think they're jerks or dangerous, but as the story progresses and everyone starts to understand one another then they can part if not as friends, then at least as neutral acquaintances/allies. The story is about people with massive differences coming to understand one another and how that makes them all stronger. It's about how people who seem strange or weird or dangerous often are just different and aren't inherently worthy of scorn just for prioritizing different things and having cultural standards that seem odd or personality traits that are off-putting.
If you genuinely think Toshiro or Kabru are the bad guys or are meant to be seen as unsympathetic assholes then like, sorry, you've missed the point? Almost no one is truly evil in Dungeon Meshi, they're just different, and sometimes those differences lead to conflict, and sometimes that conflict is bad enough that two people just can't get along, but if everyone makes an effort to understand or at least accept one another, then we can make a better world.

Prompt 134
One of the young justice members is complaining about how their parents or mentors benched them after getting injured.
And Marvel snorting and saying that that reminds him of Phantom. And of course, the YJ crew, ask who that is.
“Oh Phantoms my big brother, pops never really understood our human halves or limits so…” and he just shrugs like he didn’t just drop Lore. And the teens smell blood in the water, they want to know more.
