as u can see... all of the kids were basically named after allen... they all had ‘al’ names.... extremely confusing
plot-twist: THAT’S the darkest part
the adams were very concerned with public image. as a family in the upper echelon, they simply had to be! a narcissist father, a distant mother, put in competition with her siblings — there was no truly healthy dynamic in the household. but they looked good. they went to church every sunday, a ‘wwjd’ sticker on the back of her mother’s car. they did just enough activities and took just enough trips together to get the image across. they threw parties. they attended parties. they were the picture perfect american family — they even had two cats in the yard! life used to be so hard!
of course, in reality, this all left ms alice quite the lonely gal. but don’t worry! she didn’t turn to hedonism! lord no! instead, she turned to other people. a lot of friendships — couldn’t tell if they were real or #fortheclout — but at a point, did it matter?
grooming tw: it all came to a screeching halt when she met luke johnson, the son of their neighbors. he came back from california to georgia to visit family, care for his ailing father. oh, he was a good man! sure, he was ‘somewhat’ older than her — 27 when she was 16 — but he was such a good, handsome young man! and they were all still calling him young man, after all.
alice ‘began’ a torrid affair with luke after about a month into his visit. although she saw no immediate wrong in it, he insisted she keep it a secret ‘for the time being’ — which really just made it all the more exciting! he made all the storm clouds that hovered disappear.
one day, the levee broke for alice (still figuring out what exactly happened because i don’t wanna go too dark since this is already extremely dark, but trust that it had something to do with her parents and was just enough to push her over the edge). convinced luke was the only safe person, she turned to him. knowing their small community would catch on and essentially exile him, he took that opportunity to convince her to go back to santa monica with him where they could ‘start anew’ after his father’s death.
there are a few details i plan on adding regarding like. how legality playing into it. but i may just reserve those for an official bio lhakfsdfj
**BEGINNING OF SUPER DARK** for a while, there was the question of whether they should consider it a kidnapping or not. she went with him willingly, but she was still underage (and… you know, that age difference… the power dynamic... gross y’all). the adams insisted that it was (bc it basically was lbr) — primarily because it would make them look far better — but the community still questioned the logistics and legalities of it all… ugh. did the police really wanna deal with that? ugh.
in any case, on the other side of us america, autumn was nearing. alice would have the very occasional inquiry over how school would work (very occasional! don’t worry, luke!), over the logistics of her new life… and, after receiving multiple calls from various friends (in addition to her siblings) that sounded genuine, began wondering… if she’d made the right choice. questions about him.
when she began bringing up the idea of going back — at least for the school year!! — he would continuously remind her that she was not old enough to buy herself a plane ticket (and he was not about to do that). she also couldn’t rent a car yet (and he certainly wouldn’t let her take (one of) his car(s)!). but most importantly? he loved her. and she loved him. (what a creep!)
so, for a hot second, it seemed like she was stuck. damn legalities!! damn love!! you know, until she texted her older sister back with all of the problems that only being 16... and “in love”.... caused. her sister offered to fly down, buy her a plane ticket, and fly back with her.
when luke saw this (with all the unrestricted access to her phone he had so he could block, delete, and manipulate as he pleased), he confronted her. things went awry. she wound up in his budding wine cellar (which he soon emptied, of course… those merlots :( ….). he messaged back and, as her, said it was actually all good!! luke had figured out the logistics and she could call whenever she wanted!!
and those calls became frequent! because she would pick up when luke held it up to her! because she was pretty sure luke would kill her if she didn’t!
she wasn’t sure how long it was until she was officially Found. it took what was ruled a suicide by luke, a shot to the head and heroin in his system, to finally get any authority’s attention. all she knew was that she went to santa monica in mid june and she stopped seeing regular daylight by late july. so some time in august to some time in april… **END OF SUPER DARK + GROOMING**
she was returned to georgia shortly after and everything was different. from herself to her friends. but everything was also the same. from her room to her family. it was all… teasing. she began going to therapy, but she really sucked at it?? so she just let her therapist rely on various articles that covered the event. because it had been a media circus. good enough, amirite??
she didn’t have the will or patience to put on that peppy facade she’d had before, but there were still a few things she found a smidge of joy in. music (although her taste had… slightly altered and wow! it’d been almost a year since she’d picked up that bass!), videography… just those small things, you know??
for the first half of the ~ 2014 fall semester ~, she attempted actual school. really was not working out. with, for probably the first and only time, her parents’ approval and understanding, she dropped out and studied for a ged -- shorter and self-led -- instead.
she passed with a pretty decent grade... but it’s been argued that she really shouldn’t have gotten into pratt institute (she was at least realistic and didn’t apply to, like… cornell), but she did. national news helps.
while in the concrete jungle where dreams are made of, she learned of masters. she submitted an application as a joke — because her grades sucked!!!!! — but guess who got a job?? oh, she could pretend it was because her selected portfolio was actually genuinely good… but, man… we all know…
fun fact: my uncle applied to harvard as a joke. some twenty-five years later, we still haven’t heard back :\
she… continues to suck. like… she kinda wants the place to eventually burn down?? figuratively speaking (or is it…) but ya, for all the monopolizing she has seen turn people Evil?? but the hell can she do about it… just gotta make sure she keeps her in-house videographer job… maybe she can do something about it when she like… is capable. fuaihoelwdjkn
she sees an in-house therapist and i’d say ‘good for her,’ but it was mandated l m a o

TL;DR:
(consult above trigger list): bright kid in a super rich and toxic family because obviously. everything they did was just to look good <3 also they all had ‘a’ names which is the biggest tragedy of all :( ‘fell in love’ when she was 16ys/o with a 27y/o who was visiting to care for his father in his final days. had a torrid affair. creep. creep (luke) basically made her ‘fall in love.’ she thought creep was the only safe person at one point and creep was like ‘wanna go back 2 santa monica w me?’ and she was like ‘yes.’ and everyone was like ‘was this kidnapping... we cant tell....’ then he became even more possessive when she started questioning him and some logistics. when she finally found a way she could go back to georgia for a spell, he was like ‘no u can go in my wine cellar btw i will be taking all of the wine out.’ he kept her there from august to april and... only reason he didnt keep keeping her was bc he was Caught so. back to georgia where the devil went down. everything was Worse. even the things that were the same. but hey, the sob story that landed her in the news plenty of times got her into a college she shouldn’t have gotten into and gave her a leg-up in a joke application for a job at masters (in-house videographer). really bad at doing her work but like... fuck the man i guess??
PERSONALITY + HEADCANONS:
has no time for Fake Nice (which, as a born southerner, she’s really good at sniffing out!). has no time for arrogance. kind of makes her at odds with the nyc upper class...
on that note, still got a lil bit of some georgia twang
she lets herself indulge in various vices, but has left a previous hedonist status. weed and alcohol are still pretty common, but everything else is kept at arm’s length.
also, while on that topic, she Does Not drink wine. being trapped in a cellar... kinda makes u averse. like. literally despises it. will go on autopilot and make it KNOWN if offered wine.

TEN ( MEANING BEHIND YOUR URL ): Iruludavare is a kind of flower that rarely blooms, and when it does, it’s only at night, but wilts before dawn. It matches a headcanon I have after Serena finally leaves the Tower of Mastery and continues on her journey, as initially travelling during the day made her extremely anxious and afraid of being bombarded with people, but travelling at night was quiet and empty enough to allow her to more comfortably be herself. It also continues on the theme of flower-based names, like all of her pokemon (except Xerneas and Farris’ ones) have, and can be used to describe someone who has an impressive but very brief moment of glory .

Is the United States a Corporation?
Is the United States a Corporation? Not in the way that Sovereign Citizens would want you to think. They claim that it is an organization that exists as a legal entity independent from the individuals who constitute it, which it doesn’t.
Like most of the more extreme theories of Sovereign Citizens, this one has a lot of different claims by a lot of different people. Most aren’t worth discussing in this essay based on their absurdity or lack of support within the Sovereign Citizen community, but I’m willing to debate them if you reblog this and send me a message. The ones I will be discussing in this essay appear to be the most commonly brought up.
Our first of many examples of why the US is a commercial corporation is that under the definitions section of 28 U.S. Code § 3002 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) , "United States" is defined as a "federal corporation". That's pretty thought provoking until you discover that a federal corporation is just a specific type of organization established by Congress.
It also becomes less compelling once you realize that this definition only applies to the use of "United States" within that specific U.S. code and only that U.S. Code, which is specifically for federal debt collection procedures. See, the United States uses federal agencies to collect debt, so to avoid saying something like “the federal corporations, agencies, departments, commissions, boards, or other entities of the United States” every time some part of that code referenced that sort of thing, “United States” was used instead, just to shorten and simplify the code. This is why it states “As used in this code” at the beginning of this list of definitions.
Another very popular argument is that the District of Columbia Organic Act of 1871 established that the United States became a commercial corporation, operating under a second secret constitution. To the surprise of, I hope, very few of you, it doesn’t do that at all. In 1790, when Maryland and Virginia granted land to the federal government to be used to establish Washington DC, the land was split between two counties and contained three towns, which all maintained their own separate municipal governments. Some Sovereign Citizens claim the land was unconstitutionally seized, or that the establishment of this area was unconstitutional. Of course, this isn’t true, since the states gave up the land willingly, and because the Constitution granted Congress the authority to create a seat of government within 10 square miles of land that was ceded to the federal government. Incidentally, the land ceded by Maryland and Virginia for the seat of the government did not exceed 10 square miles, meeting the Constitutional requirements found in Article 2, Section 8, Clause 17.
To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;
By the time the Organic Act was passed, the original territory granted in 1790 had been reduced, and only included the City of Washington, the City of Georgetown, and Washington County. There had also been a population boom in the area, and the three municipalities were struggling to manage it as separate entities. So Congress decided it made sense to revoke the cities' charters and combine them with the county to unify the area under a single governor. That’s the purpose of the District of Columbia Organic Act .
If you read the act, which is about 11 pages, you’ll come across things like this: “That all that part of the territory of the United States included within the limits of the District of Columbia be, and the same is hereby, created into a government by the name of the District of Columbia, by which name it is hereby constituted a body corporate for municipal purposes”
Yes, this says that Washington DC is a body corporate, but what you may not know is that this is a legal term for a local governing body formed by a municipal charter, like you would find in a town or city. In this context, corporation does not refer to a business, or indicate a second secret federal constitution was established.
But Sovereign Citizens claim there is more to this act; something that can only mean that the United States has a second secret Constitution. The Constitution of the United States of America is written in all capital letters. Because capital letters change the meaning of words, this must establish a second secret constitution. But here’s the thing… that text doesn’t exist. Oh, sure, the Constitution is mentioned multiple times, but I can’t find any part of that act that contains a fully capitalized Constitution. Unsurprisingly, Sovereign Citizens have once again failed to fact check their sources. Even if I was wrong about this, that particular act was replaced in 1874. Also, if the second constitution is supposed to be secret, why would this act have been publicly published? Use a bit of common sense, folks.
Let’s humor them for a moment, and imagine that the fully capitalized text did exist. The argument that capital letters can change the meanings of words is true. For example, turkey is a type of meat that I covered in OC spray and ate once, and Turkey is a country with a questionable human rights record. These are called capitonyms. If one capitalized letter changes the meaning that much, what does it mean when all the letters are capitalized? Many Sovereign Citizens believe that a fully capitalized name establishes a corporate identity. For example, they might claim to be John Doe, but their corporate name, which the Government puts on their birth certificate (which is supposedly a contract with the government) is JOHN DOE. Some argue that this is because your name is liquidated capital (capital like money, capitalization of a name. For those of you who don’t know, I used to be law enforcement. When I wrote paperwork for my cases, I did write the last names in all caps. No. When we look up what a corporation is in Black's Law Dictionary (2nd ed.) you find it is a "legal entity created by or under the authority of the laws of a state or nation." In the same dictionary, it defines "foreign" as "belonging or attached to another jurisdiction". Simplified, the quote from the CJS means the United States and individual states are legal entities belonging to separate jurisdictions.
Plenty of words have multiple meanings. They're called homographs. For example, bark can be a verb or a noun, the former being a thing a dog does, and the latter being the stuff on the exterior of a tree. Pool could be billiards or an area for swimming in. Corporation happens to be a word that is applicable to multiple things.
This one’s a bit complicated, but I hope it helps some of you understand the ridiculous theory that Sovereign Citizens believe, If you have any questions, please feel free to send them my way.

Fandom hate and ship hate
So before I actually write anything about what I actually want to say I need to clarify this, I do enjoy reading facebook comments and arguments in generally just because sometimes the responses on both sides are hilarious . My personality type is a mediator and according to my zodiac chart as well. It honestly makes me upset more than anything to see this regardless of what I ship.
The main point I am trying to say is that No one is going to be on your side if you force something down their throat. I have seen lgbt people called homophobic for liking a straight ship it is a BIG issue. It also really needs to be addressed there are posts/tweets/theories with nothing about shipping and somehow they end up having comments turning them into shipping things when that was not the intention. Right now if I was to write a theory I would try to base it off of every interview game and article i've seen not my own personal opinions.
Another fun fact: I used to feel ok with soriku, yes it was more like a brotp which to me it still is, however due to the constant negativity I have seen I no longer am “ok” with it. The toxic fans Have ruined it for me.
Going on the tag and seeing at least 70% of the posts be about a ship regardless of the popularity is not right. Even when shipping is not the focus of the series. I have seen people say they want a certain character dead because they want their way or no way. That is not right either. Saying something is cannon and basing it off of no research is not good because not only is that spreading misinformation but it is creating false expectations for many fans and in the long run it is only going to make things worse. I have seen some amazing people that ship soriku and are respectful to not only me but others as well I wish more people could be like them.
By writing this i am not saying it only exists from one side because i have only seen it from one side im drawing based on this. Im pretty sure it happens from both sides as well.
Recently an amazing artist was told to stop drawing a ship because one person did not like it. As an artist myself that is disgusting that something like that would happen. If you don’t like it than unfollow them dont constantly spout hate and say that they are wrong.
I know a lot of my mutuals put up with alot of my nonsense on here I am sorry about it but this is something that can be said in any fandom because I have even seen things like this in the pokespe fandom now as small as it is.
I am not homophobic in any way that is another claim i have heard against people who ship “straight” pairings. “Well you could be lying” I am not I ship LeaIsa too even though I am quiet about it. I have many LGBT friends and even a few family members who are lgbt. Just because I dont yell my lungs out about it does not mean I love them any less or do not support them. I know there are many cases where it is brought up and people can not really cite any evidence. However I can, as humans we are conditioned by the institutions around us and we are all born with a positive outlook on everyone. There is a story about a little girl going into target and the cashier asking her about the doll she is getting because the doll is african american and the little girl is white, the girl says something along the lines that yes this is the doll i want because she is pretty like me.
It is a learned condition to hate anyone in the world. Hate is so widespread today that it is disturbing and needs to be helped. Do i think all hate can be eradicated? No but it helps to start trying to abolish some of the hate ourselves starting with our fandoms.
There are people here that are in abusive situations and use their fandoms as a way that they can feel happiness. I know they need help out of said situations but really if you are willing to attack the fandoms that they are hiding in it will not help.
This is common sense people it is something i try to do on my page and it is one of the reasons why I remain completely neutral on the topic in some cases. More than likely you are there for the actual series not the ships and if you are there just for the ship than you may need to reevaluate your love for the series. You should be happy regardless of what happens just be happy for the characters if you can’t accept something yourself.
Hate is something that many people run away from but here I am throwing myself right back in the middle of a ship war. Why exactly? I’m tired of people acting immature about the whole situation. I care about other people’s mental state that is why I am doing this. I have seen so many people want to avoid everything altogether instead of addressing it like I am doing now. If someone has anything to say about it my ask box is open and i hope you like making your stance public as well.

MBTI part II...
I had another meeting with my career counsellor today, and we discussed the results of my MBTI test.
And because this is tumblr, I’m going to share my thoughts with you. I’m an...
(Yes, I did paste this in from 16 personalities.com, because I googled it and why am I a wizard?!?! Am I saving the ents? Can I be a Wizard, please?)
It turns out I’m an INFJ. I was pretty strongly I and J, not quite so strongly N an F. I’m still new to the types (or rather, I’ve come across it multiple times, done a quiz then completely forgotten about it for like 5 years), and I can barely remember the letters, let alone what all 16 are like; and I always look on people who go “OMG, Harry Potter is such an ISFJ, but Ron is definitely a Capricorn blood group AB” with fear and awe. Meanwhile, I can’t even decide which Hogwarts House I might be in.
My counsellor put quite a bit of stress on the fact that there’s “no right answer”, and that doctors can be F, though I wasn’t personally offended at my results; just because my job is logical doesn’t mean I can’t see the value in feeling, after all. I wonder if people often come into these meetings with a very different idea of how they see themselves, but I really didn’t have many expectations of this. Unless she told me I was extroverted, in which case I would have laughed in her face. She also suggested careers like public health etc, which are intriguing I’l admit. I had mentioned last time that I’m still very much into staying in clinical medicine, but at least I’ve figured out why I prefer to be ‘holistic’ with patients.
I was surprised to find out it’s the rarest type; I assumed it’d be like zodiac signs and by sheer dint of luck you’d get a reasonably even distribution, with maybe a little variation between groups. But they apparently vary a lot by frequency? Which is interesting; I wonder what makes people develop into some perrsonality types more than others. But I’m a little unnerved at all the clickbait articles which make being an INFJ sound like being a legendary pokemon. “16 signs you could be the rarest personality type” like, should I be worried? Because you’re making it sound like some kind of disease I need to watch out for. I mean, if you’re gonna call someone a freak... I even clicked on a link promising to recommend books I might like only to read the sentence “INFJs are rare because of natural selection”. EEEH?! Who or what is killing us off?!?Jokes aside, rarity isn’t value indicator, so it should be pretty much irrelevant and I’ve been reading about this for like 10 minutes and already think its made too much of a big deal out of.
Also, fellow personality people, it’s not “hard being an INFJ”, it’s hard being a human being, other people also have problems, no less painful than yours. And, btw, people who genuinely write “I enjoy being a mystery to people”; confounding people deliberately are just mean. I do worry that people can use these groupings as a way to ignoring that we can work towards improving ourselves, and making our lives better. And that personality types aren’t an excuse for rude behaviour; whilst misunderstandings might come about because we process things differently, we all have a responsibility to try and bridge that as best as we can. Your group might explain where you’re coming from, but it doesn’t define your potential.
She also confided that when she first met me she thought I was probably still depressed and rather standoffish, and then when I started talking about my patients my face lit up. And I’m like “I was just listening to what you were saying?!” So, apparently I’m still doing that introvert thing where I first come across as impenetrable because I’m just politely paying attention and trying to pick up cues on how I fit into this interaction. The truth is that I already know that I’m like that, and I’ve been trying to be more engaging when I first meet people, but it looks like I still have some way to go.
We went through the different parameters, which got me to really think about how I like to process the world. It can be difficult at first to separate the way of working and functioning that a hectic job can place on you, and I think as an exercise this got me one step closer to starting to appreciate what actually makes me happy, or at least comfortable. Rather than how I work because I have to, because let’s face it, a job like this doesn’t give you any space for comfort; you do what you have to do to. But that’s probably a contributing factor to why lots of people burn out. I’m still trying to find the best fit for what I want to specialise in. And I’m coming to realise that this means working out what really fulfils me, and being honest with myself about which things I tolerate and excel at, but don’t enjoy, and which stress me out in the long run. The more I think about these parameters, the more I can see why certain specialties and the way they operate didn’t chime with me even if the medical science behind them technically did. I don’t really care which combination of letters or ‘type’ I get, but I’m interested in increasing my understanding of how I experience the world.
So, overall, this is progress, in the guise of a fun diversion that basically feels like another type of horoscope.
Now I need to work on examining the specialties I’m considering in more detail, and seeing how I can get to clinic to get a better feel for whether they work for me. I’m starting to formulate a plan out of the careers chaos, which has weighed on me for a long time. and that makes me feel better. Now, if someone could map MBTI groups to specialties, I’d be really interested; it’d probably save me a lot of introspection!

unfortunately i haven’t read as many books lately as i did when i was younger...so a lot of my memories are from books that i read like as a kid lol......THAT BEING SAID i think rue and finnick’s death in the hunger games was truly heartbreaking to read, the spine of my copies of both books have cracks on those pages bc i had to read it several times just to really believe it. also i thought it was written so heart wrenchingly well that i had to go back. also in looking for alaska when pudge, a man who loved to know people’s last words, realized that he would never know alaska’s last words. im also really thankful for that book bc it introduced me to wh auden’s poetry and to this day he’s still one of my favorite poets of all time.

WRITING SAMPLE
[set during the first few days/weeks of the tour]
Jocelyn sighed softly as she looked up at the stars, letting her bare feet dangle in the water of the hotel’s pool. She’d always been a night owl. The hours of darkness were her favorite, especially when she could get outside and gaze up at the cosmos. It made her feel both small and insignificant, but also profoundly connected at the same time. She was one of millions of people looking at the stars right now. She was never really alone.
When they were on tour, she could often be found at the hotel poolside in the late hours of the night or wee hours of the morning, whenever she got done being hunched over her laptop reviewing or editing photos. Sometimes she could be found with her camera in hand, sometimes without. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t actually surgically attached to her person. She wasn’t technically supposed to be allowed out here at this time of night, but hotel staff tended to look the other way when you were part of an entourage like May Queen’s. If the staff did kick up a fuss, however, all she had to do was promise to post a couple instas on the band’s account – after they’d left, of course – where she geotagged the hotel, giving them all the promo they’d need for a while, and they’d look the other way.
She never found it easy to sleep on tour, especially when they were in the bus, but even when they were in fancy hotel rooms. The rush she got from being at every show left her jittery and hyped up and made it difficult to close her eyes and shut off from the world. When she’d first joined the band on tour as their official photographer, she’d spent hours every night just lying in bed, too scared of the consequences of exploring the hotel past midnight. Now, however, any fear was long since gone. The band had more than enough clout to get her out of any trouble she might land herself in for being somewhere she shouldn’t be.
That night, though, it wasn’t post-show jitters that had her unable to sleep. There were just so many thoughts racing around her mind. It seemed like everything was changing all at once. Not only were several of her friends married now, and thinking about settling down, but her sister had a baby. Her sister, who she’d always been so close to, was a mother. Jocelyn had always copied everything Patricia did growing up, but this was something she definitely wouldn’t be copying any time soon. Still, watching the people around her settle down, watching the way Lola looked at Oliver, and Annabelle… And the way Annabelle looked at Lola, and James… She couldn’t help but want that. If they could find two people to love them, why shouldn’t she be able to find one? She’d always told herself that she was too busy for a relationship. She was in love with her work. She didn’t need a partner to complete her. The older she got however, the more she realized it wasn’t about needing someone. It was about wanting someone.
It wasn’t just the lives of her friends that were changing, though. This whole public platform thing was so new, so foreign to her. She was used to getting hundreds of thousands of likes or retweets on posts she made on the band’s instagram or twitter, but now she was getting likes on her own posts. On selfies. She was getting people commenting, talking about her, asking about her relationships with the band members. She knew that when she got back to New York, she certainly wouldn’t be able to walk down the street without someone recognizing her. The idea of it made her feel… Odd. Anxious. It made her want to hide under her covers and never come out. At the same time, though, it was exhilarating. Exciting. It was something new, that was for sure. Whether it was a good thing, or a bad thing for her… Well. Only time would tell.
GOING FORWARD
Plot #1: Seeing other people – her friends, her sister, etc – beginning to settle down has started to weigh on Jocelyn. She’s never had the time for a serious relationship and has joked that she’s married to her camera on many occasions, but as she sees the people around her beginning to get married and start families, she can’t help but want that for herself for the first time in a long time. One night stands and flings are fun, but now she’s in her 30s, can she really justify living her life like that?
Plot #2: Years ago, when Jocelyn first became employed by the band, she had drunken sex with [YOUR MUSE]. When they woke up the next morning, they both agreed that for the sake of professionalism, they should just forget about it and remain friends. Jocelyn was happy to forget about it at the time, but more recently she’s begun to see [YOUR MUSE] in a romantic light once again. She always found them attractive, but lately it’s become more difficult to ignore than ever. The last thing she wants is to make things awkward, though, so she has no idea how or if she’ll ever voice her newfound feelings to [YOUR MUSE].
Plot #3: Jocelyn has always valued her privacy, her anonymity, and loved the fact that she can walk the streets of New York completely unnoticed by May Queen fans. Now, however, that won’t be the case anymore, and Jocelyn is beginning to get nervous about what changes this public platform will bring to her life. Of course, on one hand it’s a great thing, it means more people will know about her, and her photography, and could mean more jobs. But on the other hand it opens her up to criticism, to rumors and tabloid articles and blind items. She’s not sure that that’s what she signed up for when she became the band’s photographer. She’s always preferred being behind the camera, so how will she do when she’s suddenly in front of it, on a worldwide scale?
ANYTHING ELSE:
I feel like Jocelyn is definitely a boy band girl all the way, so she would currently be loving the nostalgia kick that is Sucker by the Jonas Brothers.
Headcanon #1: Jocelyn is a total night owl. As shown in my para, she’s always up at night, and can often be found roaming the hotels they stay in after midnight, or sitting up in the tour bus editing photos.
Headcanon #2: Whilst Jocelyn loves to drink, and to party, she’s oftentimes the designated driver when the group goes out, especially when they’re in an unfamiliar city. Being a photographer means she’s more observant of her surroundings, and is able to get her bearings easier and find her way back to hotels through cities she’s never navigated before. Plus being sober and having a camera in your hand is a great way to get funny, blackmail worthy photos of her friends.
Headcanon #3: Jocelyn is most definitely a tomboy. Aside from her sister, she’s always hung around almost exclusively with boys. As a kid she skated, and when she got into the band scene, she befriended many small band members and groupies, most of whom tended to be male. So when she joined May Queen, she fit right in, and the boys became almost like a family to her in no time at all.
Headcanon #4: Totally random, but for some reason I feel like her middle name is Jennifer, so she’s Jocelyn Jennifer Mills, and a lot of her family and friends call her ‘JJ’ as a nickname.
I’ve done the headcanon challenge here and I miiiight try to do the playlist challenge but I suck at making playlists for characters. Also I can’t photoshop to save my life so all my prompt fills are gonna be super basic :P

I was tagged by the excellent @whelvenwings (as always 😉) to answer some fun questions, so here we go!
Nickname: I have various nicknames, which is great - I love a good nickname, the more unique the better. There was a whole group of friends at my old work who used to call me "Knees", or sometimes "Knee-bearer".
Why? Well, I'm glad you asked. We used to ask each other quiz questions on Slack to pass the time/stave off the crushing despair of working for that company, and one time someone asked the question: "What is genuphobia a fear of?"
Based on the French word "genoux", I guessed "knees". When the winner was announced my colleague said "The winner is... Rebecca with knees!"
And so I became Rebecca With Knees. Or Knees for short.
Zodiac: Ugh... Aries but I was born on the first day of it, and it doesn't fit my personality at all. I think I was meant to be a Pisces.
With that said, my Chinese zodiac year is the Ram, so I can say I'm a double Ram. Which is something we should all aspire to be.
Height: Not enough for high shelves
Last movie I saw: If we go with in the cinema, then it was the gorgeous wonder that is Into the Spider-Verse. If we're counting DVDs to cheer myself up because I have New Year's Blues, then it was Ocean's Eleven.

Dream job: Comics writer. I don't really care what kind of comics (well, hopefully ones I like) or what medium (digital or print), I just want to write comics.
But I've always thought it would be cool to write a whole variety of things, so like Visual Novels, games, short stories, novels, journalistic articles, maybe even a short film or web series. I want to write all the things! (And get paid for it preferably)
Dream trip: My dream/bucket list goal is to go and see the Northern Lights, so I'd do that with a few of my closest friends. From all over the world. And we'd have a really chilled out trip with lots of great conversations and lots of peaceful reading and everyone would get along super well and it'd be lovely.
Favorite food: Ugh, it's hard to pick. I'm eagerly awaiting a Chinese takeaway so I'm going to go with char siu bao which is fluffy, pillowy steamed buns with sweet barbecue pork inside. Mmmmmm nom nom.
Play any instruments: I play the French Horn (well, not actively, but I can play) and I tried to teach myself the ukulele years ago, which I keep meaning to come back to. And I would like to take the piano back up. I gave it up after Grade Four but it's so satisfying to play. I have a baby nephew whose parents own a piano (actually our parents' old piano) and I daydream about playing fun songs on it for my nephew to make him laugh.
Languages: I speak English (I... I think) and Spanish and Mandarin (when I concentrate). I learned French for many, many years but recently discovered how shocking my grammar is when I went back to France last year. I also used to speak Italian to a basic level but I also went to Italy last year and... I struggled. Actually, one of my plans for 2019 was to start learning it again. I'd almost forgotten!

KNOWING YOUR PARTNER WELL CAN POTENTIALLY
MAKE WRITING TOGETHER A LOT EASIER.
1. BASICS
NAME: vesta. would that my mother was cool enough to name me that. alas, i named me that.

THREE FACTS:
1. i’ve worked for barnes and noble longer than some people on this hellsite have been alive. terrifying, right?
2. my first serious fandom online was for lisa jane smith’s books in general. you’ll all be familiar with the tv adaptations of a few of her series- the vampire diaries and the secret circle are both hers. most of us rped within the context of another series, though, the nightworld. which, frankly, is a better rp platform and better suited to tv than her other books were. i have been waiting for the last book in the series, strange fate, since 1998, when it was originally due to be released.
3. i went to college for vocal performance- opera mosty.
2. EXPERIENCE
HOW LONG (MONTHS / YEARS?): roughly 20. november will be the 20th anniversary of my involvement in my second major fandom, disney’s newsies. (the movie. not the musical. never the musical.)
PLATFORMS YOU’VE USED: email, chat rooms, fansites, instant messengers (aim, kik, skype, telegram), gdocs, livejournal and it’s copies, message boards, and tumblr, obviously. oh, and i once was part of a group effort to force a twitter rper to admit she was LITERALLY RIPPING OFF A FRIEND OF MINE WORD FOR WORD OFF OF TUMBLR. and we all sort of lurked on twitter for a few days. it was super weird.
BEST EXPERIENCE: it’s nearly impossible to pin down a BEST experience, but i will admit, the day i got a phone call from a reporter from the new york times who wanted to interview me for an article about my fandom and in particular, about the writing circles that i had more or less masterminded, ranks pretty high. full half page in the metro section of the sunday times, color pictures included.
3. MUSE PREFERENCES
FEMALE OR MALE: female. male muses exhaust me??
MULTI OR SINGLE: my whole being wants to be able to do multi. i have too many muses. but i just can’t.
4. WRITING PREFERENCES
FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: angst and smut are basically all i do well.
PLOTS OR MEMES: both. i LOVE plots. i love discussing plots. i love planning plots. but i function within the realm of memes more often than not because i’m an awkward duck who’s too afraid to ask for plots.
LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: depends. sometimes the words word. sometimes the words do not word. when i don’t mean to, i’ll ramble, when i’m trying to match length, i’ll fail. it’s a fun balance. (*whispers* it’s not fun and causes me a lot of stress ngl??)

I’m bored, so I’m temporarily turning into a seasonal anime blog for a single extremely long post.
I’m checking out more new anime than usual this season, and I’ve been in the mood to write lately. So, I thought it’d be fun to record my expectations for each show and my impressions of their first episodes. Even if no one but me ever reads it.
Joran the Princess of Snow and Blood
That one show I’m watching partially just cause Aoi Shouta is there. I’m interested to see if he can pull off a female character who dresses as a man, which as he put it himself is the “gyakku-pattern” compared to his usual roles. Tbh watching shows just cause Shouta is in them hasn’t worked out super great for me in the past (I didn’t really like 2.43 or Kimi to Boku, and Hamefura was just alright), so we’ll see what happens here. It’s an anime original so who knows how the story will end up. But going off the trailer, at the very least we’ll get some cool aesthetics and sick fight animation.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the plot of this show is gonna involve some politics, since it takes place in an alternate 1930s where the reign of the Tokugawa shogunate hasn’t ended yet. Yeah, you might need to skim a Wikipedia article or two on Japanese history for this one. The main characters are assassins, working undercover for the shogunate and fighting some group of superpowered shapeshifting animal people. The protagonist works in a bookshop by day and lives with her very young sister who does all the housework. She also has some kind of crow-related powers that haven’t been explained yet. In fact, there’s a lot of things about the setting that were only touched upon and I guess will be elaborated on later.
The character designs and background art are very nice, but something feels off with the actual animation. Things move in weird stiff ways, some of the special effects are kinda ugly, and the fight scenes in particular are disjointed at points. Although I think that disjointedness came more from the storyboarding than the animation itself? I can’t say for sure since I’m not one of those sakuga expert people. But, I can still tell the production value here isn’t quite as high as it appeared from the PV. The premise has potential, but as the story unfolds we’ll see if it’s good enough to carry the less than stellar animation.
And as for Shouta, all he really got to do this episode was be dapper and talk in cryptic insect-themed metaphors. Oh, and randomly pull out a lightsaber, since I guess they have those in this show? I’m mostly curious to see how the people who don’t pay any attention to voice actors will react when his character’s actual gender is revealed.
Mashiro no Oto
Hibike Euphonium was one of my first anime and remains one of my faves. So, I’m always interested in shows about classical music and/or playing instruments. The manga has won multiple awards so it should be a good story, and hopefully this adaptation is just as good. As another show about a traditional Japanese instrument, the Kono Oto Tomare comparisons will be inevitable. But honestly, I’d be happy just learn some stuff about the shamisen cause I think it's cool.
This was quite the whirlwind first episode. Our main character Setsu has been playing shamisen with his grandpa since he was a little kid. But, turns out his grandpa is displeased with his grandson’s sound, so he makes it his dying wish that Setsu stop playing shamisen. Once his grandpa does die, Setsu feels distraught, impulsively gets on a bus to Tokyo, ends up living with a random gravure idol for a week, picks fights with her no-good wanna-be rockstar boyfriend, at the very end a SWAT team shows up... it’s a lot.
And I don’t really know how it will proceed from here either. After speeding through this escapade in Tokyo, I think (or hope) that the pace will settle down starting next week. And going off the poster we’ll eventually end up in a high school shamisen club, somehow.
I really enjoyed the bits and pieces of shamisen music in this episode, it just sounds so cool! I hope to eventually get more specific information about the instrument and its repertoire. All I really want from these shows about extremely specific topics is to be educated! They also played either the OP or ED at the end, and it sounded pretty neat. Unlike Kono Oto Tomare they actually put the instrument of question into the song, which I appreciate (though I still like all the Kono Oto OPs and EDs).
The art in the PV didn’t seem like anything that special, but the episode itself actually looked very nice in the important moments. I especially liked the snowy background art from the beginning. They also took an interesting direction with the character designs: everyone is drawn with very thin lines and most of the time without cel shading. Sometimes it looks like an aesthetic choice, and other times it just looks kinda cheap. The animation itself is nothing crazy, but at least from my uneducated perspective the shamisen playing looks pretty believable.
After 2.43's Fukui-ben from last season, I guess this show will be my new source of Japanese regional dialects. Apparently Setsu’s accent is so strong that the girl he’s staying with asks him if he’s a foreigner, which I thought was funny. They don’t mention where he’s from, but he and his family use the same “-be” ending as the main character from the Great Pretender. Which isn’t helpful cause I can’t remember where he was from either. But anyway, for some reason it just amuses me every time someone says “dabe”.
(A footnote about Setsu’s accent: I’ve done a bit of research, or rather literally just typed “be” into jisho.com, which I can’t believe actually worked, and it seems to be some type of Touhoku dialect. His voice actor, Nobunaga Shimazaki, is from that area so I guess that checks out? Although according to the Wikipedia page it’s used as a generic rural accent in media, so maybe they don’t care about the specific region as long as he sounds like a country boy.)
Farewell, My Dear Cramer
Finally, an all-girls sports anime! There are a few out there already, but I haven’t seen any of them yet (except maybe Chihayafuru, which has a mixed gender cast but an awesome female lead). As far as I’ve read, most have mixed reviews and tend to lean into other genres and/or have a lot of fanservice. So, I’d really like this show to be the female version of a straightforward realistic sports show like Haikyuu that is missing from all our lives. But it looks like it might be a drama about sports instead, which potentially could be just as good. It did come from the Your Lie in April mangaka after all, if you couldn’t tell from the weird lips. Besides that, the art in the trailer looks really nice.
So apparently soccer, especially women’s soccer, is an unpopular sport in Japan? The protagonist Nozomi thinks she’s too good for girl’s soccer after playing with the boys for all of middle school, but is convinced to join the girl’s team in high school anyway. Then we meet a couple of her new teammates who were similar prodigies in middle school, and jump right into a scrimmage between the first and second years?
It’s kind of a weird first episode. While it does technically establish the setting and characters, after the first few minutes it kind of feels like we’ve just been thrown into the mix of things. There’s also a noticeable lack of music in a lot of scenes which makes it feel even weirder.
The character designs are less of a problem than I thought they’d be, although the lips and sometimes the eyes still do look a bit strange. The simple, almost graphic quality is actually kind of interesting. It’s also very refreshing to see a variety of female characters that just look and act like normal high schoolers. They’re really just here to play soccer, not to be sexy or cute or really attractive to the viewer in any way.
Although we do get some nice soccer playing in the ED, the animation in the episode itself definitely isn’t at Haikyuu levels or anything. They avoid actually animating a lot of the action with speed-line backgrounds and barely-moving shots where only the hair and clothes flap in the wind.
Nozomi has the same voice actress as Kaede from Gal and Dino, and her performance there was one of my favorite parts of that show so I’m looking forward to more from her. Aoi Yuki and Tomoyo Kurosawa, definitely a couple of notable names, also show up in this episode.
Fruits Basket Final
More Fruits Basket, lets gooo! Second season was awesome so I have high expectations. I’ve already been slightly spoiled on a few things about the ending, but I’m still looking forward to seeing the specifics of the mystery of the Soma family curse wraps up.
We pick up right where we left off last season with Kureno dropping the ~big reveal~ about Akito’s gender on Tohru. Turns out she’s a girl, but raised as a boy by her mother from birth for yet unknown reasons. Then he talks more about her parents: her dad Akira seems to be dead (yet another mysterious white-haired Akira Ishida character for the books), and her relationship with her mother Ren is messy to say the least.
Finally, best girl Saki shows up and saves the day! She brings Tohru back to her house, and along with Arisa gives her the reality check we’ve all been waiting for: she is going to burn herself out if she keeps on putting others’ needs before her own.
Interestingly, even though she seems to be a pretty bad mom, Ren is in the right here about the unhealthy relationship between Akito and the zodiacs. Is she really being kept inside because of physical and mental illness, or is that just Akito’s excuse for locking her mother away? I suspect it’s the latter. Akito loves a good power trip, and if Ren were allowed to talk to the zodiacs she could possibly undermine the hold Akito maintains over them. It could also be a combination of both reasons, so I’ll just have to wait and see.
The OP is awesome! The photo backgrounds incorporate the 2D characters well and it just looks very nice. The song’s R&B-ish sound also stood out instantly from the pop ballads Fruits Basket usually gives us. Once it comes out on Spotify, I will be adding it to my playlist along with Chime and Eden. Btw, if you haven’t heard the full version of Eden I recommend you check it out cause it really goes some places you don’t even get to hear in the TV-sized version.
On a side note, this show has some real fashionistas. Rin, Haruhatsu, Saki, and this episode Arisa have great outfits. That cropped shearling jacket with the skinny scarf? 👌 It’s also adorable how Saki and her little goth brother coordinate their looks. I will never forget that time they casually rolled up to an okonomiyaki restaurant rocking black opera gloves.
Zombieland Saga Revenge
More Zombieland Saga! The best part of the first season imo was the comedy, but I’m guessing we’ll get more into the mystery/drama part of the show here: more information about Kotaro and his motives/methods, Tae’s identity, etc. We’ll see how it goes. I’m also hoping for more bops like Adabana Necromancy and Saga Jihen.
Oh how I missed this show’s manic energy...
Since the end of the last season, it seems Kotaro got overzealous and booked an arena for a concert that only sold 300 tickets, putting the group into a whole bunch of debt. So now the girls are all working part-time to pay it off, and they’re not nice jobs either: factory worker, farmhand, construction worker... milk-deliverer? Do they even have those in Japan? Now there’s some #commentary on showbiz.
As for Kotaro, the whole thing has left him in such a haggard state that he’s managed to grow his hair down to his collar bones in a month flat. Now he spends his days bar hopping and rambling even less coherently than usual (although Mamoru Miyano is clearly having as much fun as ever). Franchuchu are left to prepare all by themselves for their anniversary concert at the tiny venue where they made their debut. But, they decide they’ll use it as a chance to sing the unperformed encore song from the arena concert for Kotaro, thinking it might relight his spark.
We do get a drop of new information about the plot: turns out there’s a strict deadline on the Zombieland Saga Project, which is the real reason why Kotaro so upset. Maybe whatever necromancy he used on the girls will wear off after a certain amount of time and turn them back into corpses? The bartender at his favorite spot is apparently in on the whole zombie thing, and he’s the one who finally snaps Kotaro out of it. He sprints over to the anniversary concert and literally starts throwing hands with the unreceptive metalhead audience. To finish out the episode we get a glorious slow motion brawl sequence as Franchuchu sing the encore song.
I don’t know if that encore will be the OP or ED, or if it’s just a insert song. It was alright I guess. To be honest I liked Iron Frill’s songs more than Franchuchu’s in the first season, and I feel like that will continue to be the case this season. I’m excited to see the new OP tho, even if it’ll be hard to beat the iconic Adabana Necromancy. And on a vaguely related note, it was cool to see the real Zombieland Saga ost album, Franchuchu The Best pop up in the episode.
Pretty Boy Detective Club
This one has people intrigued because it’s written by the author of the Monogatari series (which I haven’t seen yet) and animated by Shaft. There’s also the extremely Ouran-esque setup, with Maaya Sakamoto even voicing the cross-dressing main girl. Also I just think the title is funny. Honestly I don’t really know what to expect from this one besides the usual Shaft aesthetic, so we’ll see what happens.
Mayumi wears glasses to keep attention away from her pretty eyes, but while stargazing on the roof she gets caught without them by Ayumu Murase in a detective hat. He ropes her into the Pretty Boy Detective Club, a shady secret organization at her middle school. We enter the clubroom and meet the members, a bunch of over-the-top eccentric tropey characters that wouldn’t be found in any non-anime middle school in a million years. Shoutout to that one guy in the hot pants. Then Mayumi reveals that she’s been looking for a star she saw once on a family vacation, and the boys decide to take up her case.
I knew I was really in for something when I was hit with musings about Voltaire right out of the gate. Although from what I’ve heard about the Monogatari series, this kind of ~intellectual~ monologuing is totally on brand. And I don’t know if anyone else picked up on the subtle hints they were dropping in those monologues, but I sense that, maybe, perhaps, beauty is going to be a theme in this show...? Maybe it’s going to be some kind of #meta #commentary on pretty boys anime? That could be interesting, although there’s also a chance they’ll just play it straight. They even have an idol-anime-esque ED sung by the the main cast, so honestly it could go either way.
As expected from Shaft, the visuals are all on point. I love both celestial and geometric imagery so this show’s aesthetic feels made just for me. The shifts in art style are also pretty neat. As for the character designs, my favorite part is probably the snazzy school uniform with the galaxy printed ties and striped pants and skirts. Although Murase’s character momentarily sprouted one of those flesh-fangs that I HATE they look so NASTY.
I has a pretty fun time with this episode, it was just so absurdly Anime. I liked hot pants guy and his poses (tho I don’t love that he’s 12), and delinquent guy who was just tired of everyone else’s nonsense and casually ate food off the ground. They were at the beach too, so it probably got all sandy? And when this popped up I died laughing; truly words to take to heart.
(A footnote about the ED: I thought I had spotted an Elements Garden member in the songwriting credits, and then of course I had to find out if they actually made it or not. The lyrics were written by RUCCA, who isn’t actually in the group but collaborates with them frequently according to the Google Translated version of his Japanese Wikipedia page. He’s written for quite a few Elements Garden produced Aoi Shouta songs, which is where I recognized his name from. The composer is Masatoma Ohta, who as far as I can find isn’t associated with Elements Garden but did a pretty good job emulating their sound. Both of them have done a lot of work for seiyuu, idols, and seiyuu-idols, so I guess that’s why I instantly understood what this song was going for lol.)
