Behind me you can see the presumed remains of Nürings Castle. Around 1100, the Counts of Nürings built a residence on the mountain. After the male line died out in 1171, the county of Nürings was first taken over by the Lords of Münzenberg and then by the Lords of Bolanden. In 1233, after a division of the family property, Philipp von Bolanden called himself "von Falkenstein". Schloß Wilhelmsthal:

Deutschlands Rokoko „Lustschloss“ eigentlich so mitten im Jagdrevier auch „Jagdschloss“ Nummer 1 in Kassel Calden ist innen eine noch immer prunkvolle, historische Augenweide, aber auch der Park ist ein wunderschönes Ensemble, das allerdings gerade bei den Wasserspielen restauriert wird im Ursprünglichen Sinn, also von einem Restauratoren Team, das es versteht, alles ohne elektrische Pumpen, sondern wie bei den Herkules Treppen-Kaskaden, alles nur durch Wasserdruck funktioniert.

Möge es gelingen und bis dahin die Wasserknappheit überwunden sein.

Der Bauherr, Landgraf Wilhelm der VIII. hat das Lustschloss leider nie bewohnt, verstarb zu früh, der Erbe, Friedrich II. (DER Friedrich) beließ es beim alten Bauplan.

Katharina von Württemberg, spätere Bonaparte auch Katharina von Westfalen, also Katharina, Frau von Jérôme Bonaparte (Monsieur „Lustik“, jüngerer Bruder von Napoleon Bonaparte) hingegen soll lieber ca. 7 Jahre im kleinen aber feinen Wilhelmsthal gewohnt haben als bei ihrem Mann im ihr zu großen und geschäftigen Schloss von Kassel, das ursprünglich dort stand, wo jetzt das Kasseler Regierungspräsidium steht (oberhalb der Orangerie und Fluss Fulda), bis es abbrannte und neu im Bergpark Kassel Bad Wilhelmshöhe entstand.

Beide Schlösser (Wilhelmshöhe und Wilhelmsthal) dienten schon als Filmkulisse für wunderbare Filme und sind nun Museen und Weltkulturerbe.

Neuschwanstein Castle (German: Schloss Neuschwanstein, pronounced [ˈʃlɔs nɔʏˈʃvaːnʃtaɪn]; Southern Bavarian: Schloss Neischwanstoa) is a 19th-century historicist palace on a rugged hill of the foothills of the Alps in the very south of Germany, very close to border with Austria. It is located in the Swabia region of Bavaria, in the municipality of Schwangau, above the incorporated village of Hohenschwangau, which is also the location of Hohenschwangau Castle. The closest larger town is Füssen. The castle stands above the narrow gorge of the Pöllat [de] stream, east of the Alpsee and Schwansee lakes, close to the mouth of the Lech into Forggensee.

The Falkenstein Castle was inhabited from the 13th to the end of the 18th century.🏰 However, after the Thirty Years' War (1618 - 1648) it already lost its importance, fell into disrepair and was only partially habitable. Not much is left of the castle. The demolition was only stopped in 1842, the entrance gate is a reconstruction dating back to that period. The square bergfried dates from the 14th century with its round turret from the 15th century and is 18 meters high. The view is very nice, because the small town of Falkenstein looks as idyllic as the intro of a German soap opera from the 80s and 90s.😆📺 A small group of ibexes lived on the mountain until about the 1980s.
