Found this chonky, fuzzy spider today. Her sac was open, and when we spread it a little more to peek inside, she was so still and stiff that Kitty and I thought she was dead. Nope, she was just sluggish until she realized we were about to flip her over for a better look; then she scuttled off. I'd never seen a spider that looked like her before, so I had to do a bit of Googling. My best guess is Olios giganteus, aka a Giant Crab Spider or a Golden Huntsman. She was about the size of a Wolf Spider, but totally different markings. #Repost @wannabe_entomologist ・・・ So, what happens when you’re feeding/watering and you’re holding one huntsman and leave the lid off another enclosure? 😬 I was holding Hawn (Beregama aurea huntsman) as usual, when my shy girl (Holconia immanis) who NEVER comes out from her hide when I’m around, decided to crawl across the bed. I got her onto the other hand after calling my daughter in to wrangle her in my direction WHILE still holding Hawn. May sound weird, but as a species I’d have to say these huntsman are the most chill I’ve ever handled. Either chill, or self-preserving, since it takes a bit to get them to move once they’re on you.
