Ranking Jane Austen heroes/men on how good of a father they’d be?
I have faith that all of them would be good fathers. After all, Jane Austen clearly knows what bad fathers look like and she is pretty harsh about them (rightfully). I think all of them would be good in different ways, so instead of ranking, here is their dad type:
Fitzwilliam Darcy: Providing dad, his love language is buying his children expensive toys and praising their accomplishments to relations. He is definitely involved in education and discipline. Wee bit overprotective of his daughters, but you get it, he has valid reasons. Gives his sons handshakes instead of hugs.
Charles Bingley: Fun dad, he's not sure about this whole 'parenting' part... but Baby Charles, did you see this cool rock? Do you want to go up on Daddy's shoulders so you can see the elephant? Do you want to see Daddy's fencing swords? (Oh, good point Jane, we'll put those away for a few years...)
Frederick Wentworth: Teamwork dad, he knows that Anne could totally handle everything herself, but he's not afraid to help. He feels confident removing a toddler from someone's back after all. Occasionally cannot figure out what to do and stares helplessly at his wife.
George Knightley: Nurturing dad DOES BABY GEORGE NEED ANOTHER BLANKET? DOES HE NEED A SNACK? BABY GEORGE, IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO FOR YOUR PRESENT COMFORT??? (No, Mr. Knightley, he's fine.)
Colonel Brandon: Affectionate dad, he cries when any of his children hits a major milestone. He feels the need to constantly hug and kiss his children. They are miracles, all of them are miracles, and he is going to make them happy and what happened to him and Eliza will never happen again! They need another hug
Edward Ferrars: Thoughtful dad, constantly thinking about what will make his children feel happy and loved. Encourages them to follow their dreams. Has minor panic attacks if he says or does anything that remotely reminds him of his own mother. Elinor assures him regularly that he's doing an excellent job (because he is).
Edmund Bertram: Interactive dad, takes time to discuss their lessons and answer questions. Very anxious about his children's moral education. Will take the time to draw lines on their letter paper. Will never admit he's wrong even when he makes a mistake.
Henry Tilney: Perfect dad, like honestly, have you met him? He's a 10/10, all the best parenting traits rolled into one man. AND YET, his oldest son thinks he's totally lame.
Bonus: Frank Churchill left his child at Kensington Gardens once twice, but Jane never found out so it doesn't count.
Bonus bonus: Robert Martin totally has a mini-me son who rides beside him on a pony.

So I’m gonna have to read Reverie again to be able to leave a coherent comment 😆 but I do have a question. Doesn’t it drive John insane that Gale still keeps things from him after all these years? I don’t want to write any spoilers here but Gale kept his feelings and his problems deep down and I understand that sweet Gale was trying to spare John (since he already has his own mental issues) but I guess I’d have still been mad if I were him finding out later the kind of shit Gale was going through all alone. But maybe John just accepts that this is the way Gale is? Every chapter leaves me thinking about your boys for days after I love it so much. 💓
Hi dear, what a great question! ❤️ This drives Bucky absolutely mad, but he also understands that this is a part of Gale. It’s possibly Gale's biggest shortcoming, this stubborn idea that he should shoulder his problems alone and not burden anyone else with them. It’s an ongoing issue through the entire story.
It stems from the fact that Gale never had anyone to rely on, even got told sometimes by his parents that he should not bother them, and then of course he even carried some of their responsibilities / problems in addition to his own. This is deeply ingrained in his personality and being in an extremely stressful situation in the stalag just makes it worse. This is why Bucky says "the doors are closing" even when they're awake.
The reason why Bucky doesn’t make a bigger fuss in this chapter is because his own mental health is at rock bottom, he’s severely depressed. So basically, he just takes it in stride.
In the long-term, after the war, I think they would have some serious fights about this.

Random question BUT what is the most bi Dean moment, in your opinion??
I love random questions hehe even though its hard to answer. There are a lot. Loved when he had no trouble to flirt with guy for Charlie heh there is lot to choose from but i think ill choose the one Dean tries ‘the last night on earth’ line on both women and men thats when i thought the first time like is he bi or something who says that to their friend oh right! those who likes ‘like’ them flirt like that heh
Sidenote from the question: My favorite Dean (bi?)moment was when he was confessing in s11 it started as to lure out the ghost sure but then? Then there was Dean, real Dean stating his thoughts out loud “theres things, theres people, feelings i wanna experience differently then i have before or maybe even for the first time” he chose the word people as if there was more he wanted something real with someone and im sure he thought about it a lot so to confess that out loud was big im a believer he ‘liked someone’ at the same time he was supossed to be connected just to Amara cough cough Cas boy had her there yet still called after Casifer interesting cough cough
Anyway as Rowena said whats bi is bi and to me and many Dean definitely is adorkable bisexual man. Thank you for the question!

So you have any thoughts on Spider's past foster families and his time at the care home?
Time at the carehome:
hectic and chaotic, always other kids running about
spider is an amazing friend/mentor to all of the younger ones, and is mates with a couple of the ones his own age
he doesn't get into the wrong crowd, removing himself from the group of older teenagers who get into shady shit. but sometimes he lets them use his window to sneak in and out at night.
the adults at the care home are all well meaning and genuinely kind people, but of course due to circumstance none of them are able to give Spider (and the other kids) what they need
Time in foster placements: (tw mentions of DV)
one family only took him for the money. they were the worst home he went to because they'd almost completely ignore him, not checking in on him and uncaring if he even went to school or not. never physically/verbally abusive, but certainly neglectful.
one family had a few domestic violence issues (it was an emergency placement when Spider had to be moved due to concerns that his father had found him) and Spider spent the night hearing a woman get beat up.
one place he went to was amazing. It was a little old lady who lived by herself and a couple of cats, and she took pride in fostering kids (she only took one at a time so she could devote everything she had to them). She was quite poor though, so the money from CPS only went so far and literally only covered the basics. What she didn't have financially she made up for with care. Spider loved that lady and never forgot her.
those are some of the most memorable, but there have been so many that he's lost count and forgotten about some completely. It all made him an extremely good judge of character but also extremely reserved when it came to trusting people he did like. Even in the the cat's in the cradle, we see Spider unable to trust the Sullys - he thinks they're going to send him away if he does a single thing wrong and doesn't give them the credit they deserve!

I'm curious as to how the Lord Ruler swear. Certainly not "by the Lord Ruler", I suppose. Have you ever heard him swear?
The Lord Ruler doesn't swear often (because he's always in control and powerful), but when he does, it's usually along the lines of "By me" or "Me dammit"
(It's very cute)

A threesome with Cody and Jensen, that sounds like heaven! While we are at it, if you could cast Cody and Jensen in a project together, what kind of project would that be?
I kind of want to see Cody in The Boys. That show is so unhinged and I would want to see Cody play one of the supes or something. Not quite as extreme as Homelander but SolderBoy level would be funny to see Cody pull off.

who likes to be carried more: kaiba or atem?
like carried as in princess bride hahaha (if that's your jam or some other type of carry)
Atem most definitely. Kaiba likes the power of picking him up and carry him out, whenever it is silly or wanting to be romantic towards the bedroom.
Plus carry him over the shoulder gives Kaiba the chance to smack that ass for misbehaving 🤣🤣🤣

assumption: you prefer new smosh to old smosh
I guess so?
I started watching Smosh after Anthony’s return so all I know is new Smosh and every time I watch old Smosh, it feels like a different universe or that it happened years before it actually did. But with Anthony and Ian’s relationship being in strongest it is, all the new cast they have, and how high the production value, I do prefer new Smosh.

Jane fairfax anon here with another question 😭 I'm curious as to how secret engagements actually worked? I can understand for edward and lucy that they lived in the same house and were cousins, there must have been some moments when they were alone, just the two of them. But how did jane and frank manage it without attracting the notice of the Campbells and their other acquaintances? If they spent too much time with each other they would have attracted attention. Also, from Sense and Sensibility I understood that it was impossible to receive a letter without the whole household knowing about it. The only plausible explanation is that Jane sneaked out at night lmao but that doesn't really sit with her character? I'm curious about what you think, how do you think they managed to meet in private, often and enough to get into and arrange a secret engagement?
Hey! So quick correction first, Edward and Lucy are not cousins (Mrs. Jennings and Lucy are allegedly cousins, I wouldn't put it past Lucy to make that up). But yes, she would visit her uncle while Edward was at school and then when he was hanging out after graduating. They had a lot of time possibly alone.
On to Jane Fairfax! We actually have some clues as to how they met and fell in love. Firstly, the Campbells might know a lot more than they let on:
With regard to her not accompanying them to Ireland, her account to her aunt contained nothing but truth, though there might be some truths not told. It was her own choice to give the time of their absence to Highbury; to spend, perhaps, her last months of perfect liberty with those kind relations to whom she was so very dear: and the Campbells, whatever might be their motive or motives, whether single, or double, or treble, gave the arrangement their ready sanction, and said, that they depended more on a few months spent in her native air, for the recovery of her health, than on any thing else.
This is about Jane not accompanying the family to Ireland, where obviously it would be hard for her to meet with Frank. I will be bold enough to say that the Campbells probably have strong suspicions of an attachment, if not outright knowledge of the engagement. Maybe Frank was going to try and go with them but he was denied by his aunt?
Next, some hints, mostly dropped by Frank Churchill:
I met her frequently at Weymouth. I had known the Campbells a little in town; and at Weymouth we were very much in the same set.... I have been used to hear her’s admired; and I remember one proof of her being thought to play well:—a man [Mr. Dixon], a very musical man, and in love with another woman [Miss Campbell]—engaged to her—on the point of marriage—would yet never ask that other woman [Jane] to sit down to the instrument, if the lady in question could sit down instead—never seemed to like to hear one if he could hear the other.
Now this last statement from Frank gives Emma suspicions, but there is an easy second explanation. By having Jane play, Mr. Dixon could talk in confidence to Miss Campbell. But we know Frank can't stay away from the instrument, he was no doubt there, turning her music pages and singing duets. Also, sounds like they hung out at Weymouth a lot. We know they both danced and sang duets at Weymouth.
The early letter from Jane to her grandmother also gives me suspicions:
and as Jane used to be very often walking out with them—for Colonel and Mrs. Campbell were very particular about their daughter’s not walking out often with only Mr. Dixon, for which I do not at all blame them
So either Frank (who seems to have a lot of autonomy to travel within England) is meeting them during these walks in London or Miss Campbell is taking Jane to the post office. Sneaky sneaks!!!
I also suspect that it was Frank, not Mr. Dixon, who saved Jane from falling off the sailboat. This would be perfect actually because Emma's suspicions that Jane fell in love with Mr. Dixon also stem from this dramatic episode.
I do think it is a whirlwind engagement, but the key really seems to be Weymouth and I have strong suspicions that Miss Campbell was playing matchmaker.

Trans Hyrule trans Hyrule trans hyrule
Extremely curious about how the gender presentation/cultural differences present in the Rito, and how different gender in cultures is treated with the Gerudo! Do they just have a cheatsheet of what a Rito woman might present like vs a Hylian woman
Also curious about how the Gerudo would treat folks that don't really have a binary gender (or any gender at all)
i think that the Gerudo might just not necessarily account for other cultural ideas of gender either! assuming that they would account for other cultures entirely is a stretch imho; it’s certainly not how people treat the performance of femininity IRL! their system is flawed; i don’t think i can tell a story about a trans Hyrule without pointing that out. Gerudo women are probably very good at recognising hylian gender presentation, pretty good at recognising Rito gender presentation (becauee Rito can much more easily visit Gerudo Town than most other people), and then most of them are probably pretty bad at recognising Zora gender presentation (less Zora visiting, plus it seems like lots of people can’t seem to tell Zora men and women apart).
As for how the Gerudo treat non-binary identities i think we need to look no further than real transphobia — certain non-binary people would find it quite easy to live in Gerudo Town, and certain wouldn’t; “non-binary” is more of an anti-descriptor than it is a descriptor, but generally, those seen as completely ungendered (such as the gorons) would likely be allowed, but those seen as men/closer to masculinity would likely find it harder. note that i said “seen as” — i think much like in real life, how people identify doesn’t necessarily inform how they are treated, but rather their perceived positional relationship to gender(s) do most of the time.

Assumption - you miss damien’s purple hair era 💜
It’s the first look that comes to mind (to me personally) when I think of Damien Haas, it’s so iconic. Though I think the era I miss the most was the partial-white hair. THAT was a good style on him.

You've said before your favorite nimi ku suli is tonsi (couldn't agree more btw), what's your least favorite nimi ku suli? And what are your favorite and least favorite nimi ku lili and why? Maybe any other notable words that didn't make it into ku at all?
before ku, I considered tonsi to be the only nimi sin worth using, so I don't really like any of the other ones haha
my least favorite nimi ku suli is lanpan, because it's literally just "kama jo (derogatory)", and my least favorite nimi ku lili is konwe ("life, organism") because of how John Conway was very vocal when he was alive about how he didn't like how the Game of Life was the main thing people associated with his name despite all his other accomplishments
