Scattershot Blades post, because I watched yesterday and didn’t have the energy to comment.

I liked this one, but it also felt a little off? Like, similar to the way To The Depths felt a little off. I don’t know, this might be because I was yet again drop-dead exhausted and also life’s been weird for a couple days, so I might need a rewatch, it might be me and not the episode.

There was a Tabaxi, though, that was great, I love him, I want him to become a permanent friend of the gang. I have the same very minor, mostly joking complaint about Blades that I do OxPrime: I really wish some NPCs reoccured more often. I love both Luke and Johnny’s NPCs and I would be happy to see some of them more often. Some of them don’t have as much reason to (especially in Prime when they’re always on the move), but I feel like this one could be useful as a gang friend!

Speaking of reoccuring NPCs -- I first thought this episode was going to be, like, the collapse of the Dimmers as a whole, but I like where this went better. Kind of like that people associated with the society keep having room for shades of grey? It’s much more interesting if some people have their own motives, or are part of this for genuine reasons, than if they’re just. mustache-twirling evil to the core!

Also, two for one with Ironhook, who is fun. I expected him to be an antagonist if he came back; I guess now he’ll be an antagonist if he comes back again. XD

Barnaby playing overeager security was a really great way to handle things and fun to watch. And Lilith trying and failing to do her ritual was maybe the funniest part of the whole episode despite the tension around it.

Curious what next week’s going to be, if it’s going to be the whole gang, if we’re going to get K/E/Z trying to escape, or if maybe we start with the three-person and then they’ll bring Lilith and Barnaby in for the end. That “to be concluded” - I don’t know if that’s going to be re the cliffhanger, or the whole season. If it’s the season, on the one hand, not ready, on the other, I don’t think we’re at a point where ending the show makes sense, so we’ll probably get a season 3 or 2.5 or something? Unless they all die in this one, I guess.

I feel like I had something else to say yesterday, but my brain is flat. No fic thoughts, cause I am tired, and nothing really sparked me on this one specifically -- I want Dimmer Sister fic in general, I want Rosie and Josie to become weird questionable allies to the gang (and I kind of want them to meet the gutcutters?), and I want Cart-on-the-Road to show up in fic a lot, but that’s about it. Also I still haven’t written any of my no-true-pair fics so I’m trying to chill on coming up with new ideas for a bit.

I was rewatching Gutcutters Bargain pt. 1 and . . .

I forgot how much I absolutely love this show.

Edvard, Zillah, and Kas *totally* live there.

Lilith does not live there, but swings by when she needs a break from her roommates.

Barnaby does not live there, but swings by at the most random hours of the day.

It’s 3 in the morning and Barnaby is drunkenly knocking on the door while Lilith tries to study.

It’s Friday, you know what that means, Blades react post. (Quick one before movies for mother’s birthday, though.)

TRAIN HEIST TRAIN HEIST TRAIN HEIST. OF A TRAIN. COOOOOL.

And the Gut-Cutters! Man I love the Gut-Cutters. :D Mumbles looking to Lilith for when to stab! Kasimir and Bug’s mutual respect! Excited child playing with the smoke bomb at the worst time possible! Singing and coloring books with Edvard! and Bug’s tiny crush on Zillah is so fucking cute oh my god I love it.

Kasimir and Barnaby have the greatest odd-friendship two-man comedy troupe thing going on this season? I crack up every time they interact, I really hope we get a duo for them at some point. Edvard’s train joy was so fitting and beautiful. Zillah refusing to let the skinny boys go in alone. Lilith successfully pulling a hitman, bringing things around full circle from episode one! This is just a string of things I loved this episode at this point. It was so much fun. I need to rewatch again, I think, to really take everything in, but it was a DELIGHT.

I definitely thought we were going to the barricade this episode, so I’m curious when that’s going to happen. Season finale maybe? I also think I need to rewatch Depths and Horrors for the lore info, because I feel like I missed something in one of those lore dumps -- I kind of thought the barrier was the ghost field, whoops. But a full-episode train heist was a glorious idea. Really curious what happens next time too, cause this could be horrifying, depending on where it goes.

Curious about Eleanor pushing them; I still think Eleanor’s going to turn out to be on the level, but I wonder if there’s going to end up being friction between her and the gang nonetheless. Also wondering if we’re gonna get a breather episode that’s just for profit, maybe after the Dimmers. (Or maybe they’ll be working on that and then Dimmers will happen.)

Fic idea watch:

- I think this is player memory and not a sign of missing something, but I’m pretty sure they were even with the Gutcutters last time they showed up, so I kind of want to write a missing job where they helped them out in the early part of the six-month timeskip.

- Also just. rekindling my desire to write Mumbles and/or Bug hanging around with the gang. Possibly with the others as well.

- Still want things to come of Kasimir being haunted and Barnaby’s foxspirit and them bringing it up and elaborating on the ghost made that desire stronger. Also still want them to go full 5/5 hauntings.

- For like. half a second I thought Lilith was gonna scare off the desert scavengers by pulling down her hood? and now I want that. And somebody sees. Awkward revelations on a speeding stolen train!
