Went to Canton Paradise (乐天小香港) at Junction 8 after praying at the temple. We were seated at two different tables, so each ordered their dishes separately. This Braised Peanut & Chestnut was the appetizer they placed on the table. Whole savoury peanuts with sweet chestnuts perked up the tastebuds as we poured ourselves the Glutinous Rice Pu-Erh Tea (糯米沱普洱茶).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We started off with the classic dim sum Siew Mai or Steamed Pork Dumpling (鱼子蒸烧卖皇). The pork and prawn filling with sprinkling of flying fish roe adding specks of colour is both meaty and wholesome tasting. Then came the Har Gow or Steamed Prawn Dumpling (笋尖鲜虾饺) with chunky succulent and crunchy prawn enclosed inside the translucent skin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Steamed Xiao Long Bao (上海小笼包) or soup dumpling is also another must order item. Pick it up gently with chopsticks into a soup spoon. Take a small bite in the dumpling skin and proceed to suck out the soup (beware, it's hot) then popped the whole thing into the mouth.

babe wake up new oc just dropped
info below the cut!
Her name is Libby (short for Liberty) and she's an ex-Child of Atom. She's still a fervent believer, but she left her sect over disagreements about the sanctity of fusion. She has the Blessing of Atom, making her immune to radiation, instead feeling it as a comforting glow. She lives in the ruins of New York City. While most people can only survive in the less-irradiated subway tunnels (I imagine NYC being like Metro) she's free to explore aboveground. She makes her living by climbing destroyed skyscrapers and scavenging for valuable tech that nobody else could reach. Libby also occasionally acts as a guide, leading groups of travellers through the city - as long as they provide their own protection, and are willing to listen to her proselytizing. Libby is a peaceful, friendly, and crafty survivalist. She enjoys her solitude, but makes time to be sociable between trips aboveground.
Additional notes:
she's a highly skilled climber and parkour-er(?), and is very athletic
her climbing rig is a repurposed parachute harness
she wears through shoes like nobody's business
she has alopecia, unrelated to the Blessing of Atom. (her brows are part of her tattoo)
originally from Broadway Junction, but does most of her trading in Grand Central Station
really wants to bang a non-feral glowing one

“A car crash harnesses elements of eroticism, aggression, desire, speed, drama, kinesthetic factors, the stylizing of motion, consumer goods, status — all these in one event. I myself see the car crash as a tremendous sexual event really: a liberation of human and machine libido (if there is such a thing).” — JG Ballard

“I think the key image of the 20th century is the man in the motor car. It sums up everything: the elements of speed, drama, aggression, the junction of advertising and consumer goods with the technological landscape. The sense of violence and desire, power and energy; the shared experience of moving together through an elaborately signalled landscape. We spend a substantial part of our lives in the motor car, and the experience of driving condenses many of the experiences of being a human being in the 1970s, the marriage of the physical aspects of ourselves with the imaginative and technological aspects of our lives. I think the 20th century reaches its highest expression on the highway.
Everything is there: the speed and violence of our age; the strange love affair with the machine, with its own death.”

Harness Strain to Harvest Solar Energy
The engineering of structural deformations in light-sensitive semiconductors can boost the efficiency of solar cells. [...] The quest for an efficient method to convert solar energy into electricity is crucial in the pursuit of carbon neutrality and environmental sustainability. Traditional solar cells are based on junctions between semiconductors, where a current is produced by photogenerated carriers separated by an electric field at the junction. Efforts to enhance solar-cell performance have focused on refining semiconductor properties and on perfecting devices. Concurrently, researchers are exploring alternative photovoltaic mechanisms that could work in synergy with the junction-based photovoltaic effect to boost solar-cell efficiency. Within this context, the engineering of a strain gradient in the material has emerged as a promising research direction. In this phenomenon, known as the flexophotovoltaic effect, an inhomogeneous strain in the material produces a photovoltaic effect in the absence of a junction [1].

Anyone and everyone will talk shit about the humble turkey, but it’s that very bird which poses the greatest threat to humans in your neighbourhood. Letter carriers, package delivery folks, law enforcement, and newscasters alike are all subservient to the whims of an ornery tom. If I had a penny for every time I’ve had to face down some vicious poultry in my own front yard (they think the loose wiring harnesses lying in my lawn are tasty worms) then I’d have almost enough money to get my water switched back on.
One year, things were a little different. It was after Thanksgiving, almost time for Halloween. The air was cold and crisp, and you could see your breath in it. Every burst of profanity would condense onto the metalwork of the car you were swearing at, beautiful little bubbles of rage. That kind of night, you don’t want to stop turning a wrench, or your shitbox won’t be ready for the snowfall in a week or two. That’s when I heard it.
A turkey had wandered away from the nature preserve down the street. I say “nature preserve,” but both you and I fully understand that I actually mean “abandoned lot.” This was something I was prepared for, as it happened every year. As the baby turkeys mature, they want to wander away from mom and dad in search of new things to have sex with and/or eat. Unfortunately, one of the places that this turkey decided to wander was into my garage, where I was currently trapped beneath a decaying ‘83 Imperial, fighting a corroded brake-line junction.
I would be lying to you if I told you that the situation was resolved without violence. Of course, that violence was unidirectional. If you asked a physicist to draw the force diagram, they would sketch a lot of arrows pointed directly towards Yours Truly’s feet, legs, and genitals. The fates intervened in my favour, though, and the beast slipped on a pool of spilled ATF and slid to the other side of the garage, where it was knocked unconscious by a pile of precariously-stacked broken parts falling on it.
I’ll never forget that turkey. Now, when I work on cars, I first close the garage door, or use the buddy system. The big benefit of the latter option is that I can grab a YouTube video of my friend being attacked by an angry bird instead. That’s the kind of footage that might be able to get me a hot shower again, on some glorious future day.

Warning: Warp Core Breach A Lot Sooner Than You Think
Continued from [x]
@fasciinating
"Lead? Oh, I think you're rather mistaken, my good man." He had underestimated just how badly life support had been damaged if it had already started to affect a human/Vulcan hybrid presumably used to Vulcan's thin air so severely. Hank had lungs the sizes of balloons, a cardiopulmonary system so well developed he could win any Olympic event - Spock was struggling to stand, even if he was doing his best not to show it.
Then again, explosive decompression of the outer hull and most of the interior atmosphere did tend to have that effect.
Tumblr media
"Lead implies I believe you to be of sound enough body and mind to traverse the hallways of a collapsing space vessel on yon shaky ambulatory limbs - but I do not, in fact, believe this to be the case." With an agility that belies his hulking blue form, Hank all but hoists Spock up onto his back, securing him with an articulated rescue harness.
"Therefore, your recommended mode of travel is the Beast Express. If you wouldn't awfully mind keeping all hands and legs inside the vehicle, your rescue will proceed apace!"
Tumblr media
The instant he was certain the Ambassador's son was secure, Hank began to move through the ship like a propulsive ping pong ball, bouncing from wall to bulkhead to ceiling to railing like the vessel was a jungle gym. For him, by and large, it was.
Though, depending on Spock's constitution, he might have some complaints.
"Blast - we're coming up on engineering sub-deck C. Junction thirty four alpha is out, we're going to have to re-route." Coming to a momentary stop, Hank fiddled with his handheld scanner, attempting to map out an alternate path around a rather comprehensive blockage. Half the damned deck had blown out.
"Suggestions? This is your vessel, I'd hate to steal your thunder."

It wouldn’t take much common sense to realise camping under a bridge in the rain gives potential to being flooded out. Getting out out of the rain was priority number one, and it slightly escaped my mind of this fact. I set alarms every few hours during the night to check the water level, too stubborn to move camp. The river did come up, and was a foot or two from my tent, but thankfully by that time the sun had come up and I packed my things and hit the road.
Doing some recon on google maps the night before I could tell I was in for a mountain climb this morning. Tight squiggly lines on the map are usually a telltale sign. I didn’t quite know what I was in for though. The tarmac came to an end as I climbed up into the bush, the road mud as the rain continued to pelt. My phone died and it was a proper adventure half walking half cycling up the deserted hill. I don’t think I saw a car for two hours, and when I came to a junction, with no map, I gambled on which road to take. 10 minutes later, on the downhill now, I saw a signpost for the direction of Mathinna, my intended destination. There was definitely some excitement that I had taken the correct trail and didn’t have to backtrack. The temperature dropped so I put on my winter gloves and carried on careering down the hill.
A few trees had fallen from the wind and I helped a truck driver move one. A few more kilometres of flat with a tailwind brought me to Mathinna. A very small town, the only place open was the old weatherboard post office. I charged up my phone abit to find it was only midday.
Hopping on the bike again I headed the 25km to Fingal, another small town. It was flat terrain the rest of the day, and making good time with the tail wind I was there in good time. I chilled out at the community centre which was a cool old hotel built in the 1850s. The rain stopped and with plenty of daylight still I carried on another 20km to the town of St Marys.
Tumblr media
I harnessed the wind with my pannier bags the whole way to the pub.
Tumblr media
I set my tent up in the domain, originally under the cover of the stables but some male Karen wasn’t having it so I moved to the designated camping area open to the elements, but still free so I wasn’t complaining.
Lots of different roadkill today. Wallabies, Wombats, Tasmanian Devil and a decently sized snake over a metre in length. Despite the brutal climb in the morning the wind had helped me make some great distance, clocking 100km by days end.

Metal Madness AU Lore dump
it’s just essentially a bunch of what-ifs smooshed together (i’m just describing what an AU is haha) coupled with a bad ending premise.
For those that don’t want spoilers- long story short, Bunk Bed Junction became the big bad after some events and now they rule the city (or what remains of the city) and they’re all edgy and stuff.
I hc that all genres of music can become “corrupted” or used for evil, EDM or Rock or any musician can be corrupted regardless.
In my headcanoned NSR, magic/power can be harnessed in two ways- Natural abilities (the stuff that people just kinda have from birth) and magic harnessed through creative passion (music, art, all the stuff with creativity involved). For music, you need three components: Passion, Fan Power, and well, how well the music is. The better the music, the more powerful it is. Genre is somewhat of a factor as well (mainly minor tweaks like “oh well rock is more on attack than for example, lo-fi which is defensive and support”).
But a musician can be corrupted when they harness Hatred, and Fear. Twisting their abilities to hurt others around them and even themselves unintentionally at points. While it does make their music more powerful by a lot, it comes at very very high prices. It changes them as a person. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, after all.
Though now I think Madness wouldn’t be a good term for what May and Zuke are experiencing, more of a corruption- but Metal Corruption wouldn’t sound as good as Metal Madness. So in this AU, Madness = Corruption. Not Insanity or any pretty awful “ooh i’m goin insane n evil” tropes like that as this corruption is more of an entity possessing them and the duo succumbing and listening to this entity as their personalities and beliefs are being affected supernaturally. There are auditory and visual hallucinations induced by this entity to further coerce them into making bad decisions and further losing themselves.
By the way, please let me know if I’m writing anything not very good from a different standpoint/perspective, I want to write a story that involves corruption and making bad decisions as this is a bad ending, but I want to avoid things such as the Insanity trope or villainizing people who experience such things like hallucinations! I'm open to taking suggestions for a new name and for how better to write this AU while keeping all the important plot points and some of the vibe. I'm researching things as best I can so it can be enjoyed by everyone. Of course I know I can't please everyone, but constructive criticism will still help me out in the long run!
Now for the premise/lore that is full of SPOILERS!
After Tatiana was defeated, Mayday learned the truth: That the person making the shots against all the indie artists in Vinyl City is actually her idol- Kul Fyra. But instead of a funny gag we get in game, Mayday is overcome with rage and attacks Tatiana, forcing her to flee- with the legendary guitar. (that'll be a special thing we'll talk about later)
So Kliff and Tatiana don't get to have their little spat in front of May and Zuke, which means May and Zuke don't realize that Kliff has just been using them this entire time. They take their rightful place as Queen and King of Vinyl City.
They're..not very good at the whole running a city thing just yet, but they're at least trying at this point in time. The stress is kind of getting to them so they're relying on Kliff more to ease the load which means they're a lot more dependent on him.
But, of course, as Tatiana predicted, EDM supporters, plus NSR Charters did fight back to claim back the city. And when Tatiana mentioned that Bunk Bed Junction wouldn't stand a chance when they're at a level playing field, oh boy does she mean it. Imagine having to juggle all the charters in one fight.
Kliff, in what he'd call a "moment of genius", recommended B2J to..switch up the genre. With Metal, which would be easy to transition to considering B2J's genre of Rock, and it gives them a significant power boost.
It all went fine at first, the music just giving them an advantage, and they beat the charters one by one like before. But..when it came to Tatiana, Mayday was immediately getting corrupted due to her hatred and feelings of betrayal. Tatiana was defeated, again, but was injured greatly.
The win certainly changed Vinyl City, and Bunk Bed Junction..as now, Mayday had other plans. She was gonna allow EDM to keep on thriving, but..she decided, if they're just gonna make another uprising, why not give them a taste of their own medicine? She banned EDM entirely.
While ruling the city from there on afterwards, the duo began to slowly get corrupted, even kicking out Kliff from Vinyl City after an argument over power distribution. They ruled the city however they pleased, and their sense of justice twisted. They still had good intentions, and believed they were "helping" the city but did more bad than good.
And that's where the story leaves off~ Current day of the duo still ruling, but who knows? Things might change.

Ch. 2 of In which Bokuto loves having sleepovers & "Deep Man Chats" (DMCs) with Akaashi
Read on AO3 Bokuto and Akaashi walked home from the restaurant together, Bokuto hanging off of Akaashi’s arm and chattering non-stop. As they neared the junction in the road where they needed to part ways, Akaashi drew to a halt and faced his friend.
“See you tomorrow,” he said. “Don’t stay up late watching anime, kay?”
Bokuto didn’t let go of his arm. “Can I come home with you instead?”
Akaashi frowned. He knew Bokuto was a sucker for sleepovers—said they were the optimal environment for “Deep Man Chats” (more commonly referred to as “DMCs”). And normally Akaashi wouldn’t hesitate to do anything that would make Bokuto happy. But if they were going to win again tomorrow, they both needed their rest.
“I dunno if that’s the best idea tonight, Bokuto-san. We shouldn’t be staying up late DMC-ing in the middle of the tournament.”
“We don’t have to stay up late!” Bokuto said, in the tone of a child bargaining with his parents. “We can go straight to bed, honest.”
Akaashi raised a skeptical eyebrow. “Well what’s the point of sleeping over then?”
Bokuto shrugged. “I’d just rather be with you than not.”
Akaashi felt something hitch in his chest—a sensation that was at once pleasurable and painful. He looked to the side for a moment, under the pretext of considering Bokuto’s proposal. But really, he just needed to break the eye-contact that was causing him to feel far too much.
Before he managed to summon a response, Bokuto stepped closer towards him. Akaashi had to stifle a gasp as the ace dropped his face into his shoulder and practically nuzzled him like a dog. A really cheerful, carefree, utterly oblivious dog.
“I’ll be good, Kaashi, I promise,” Bokuto mewled, his lips brushing against Akaashi’s collarbone. Akaashi positively bit his tongue.
After a couple breaths (he could only count the time in breaths, now that he felt Bokuto’s on his skin), Akaashi managed a strangled “Okay.”
Bokuto pulled back and beamed. Unfortunately, that didn’t help Akaashi regain his sanity. ------------
Akaashi began stripping the sheets of his bed, as Bokuto hovered over his shoulder.
“I can take the futon,” Bokuto said.
“Nope.”
Akaashi’s mother had raised all her children to have impeccable manners. One of the things they were taught was to always offer their guest the bed at sleepovers. Despite the many times Akaashi and Bokuto had done this sleepover thing, Bokuto always protested at this point.
“I don’t like sleeping in the bed when you’re on the floor. It makes me feel like you think I’m above you or something.”
“You are above me,” Akaashi said, wrapping the sheets up into a ball under his arm. “When you’re in the bed and I’m on the floor.”
Bokuto rolled his eyes. “Hardy, har, har.” Then he stepped closer to Akaashi, practically eliminating the distance between them. Standing on tiptoes, he pressed his nose to Akaashi’s forehead. “Technically, I’m above you always. By exactly three centimeters.”
Akaashi promptly pulled away. “Exactly,” he said, managing with considerable effort to keep his voice even. “So case closed.”
Bokuto’s grin faltered. Then, it transformed into a child-like pout. “Well you at least don’t have to change the sheets. It isn’t like I’m not used to your sweat or anything.”
Akaashi shrugged. “Fair. But I’m already halfway done.” He walked over to his laundry basket and dropped the bundled sheets in. “Returning were as tedious as go o’er.”
Bokuto blinked. “Did you just quote Bob Marley?”
Akaashi laughed, surprising himself with how joyful the sound was. (Bokuto could do that to him.)
“Shakespeare,” Akaashi corrected. “But good guess.”
Akaashi walked to his wardrobe and dug up some clothes for Bokuto to use as PJ’s. He tossed them at him and Bokuto looked right pleased with himself when he caught both the pants and shirt in one hand. Smiling privately, Akaaahi exited the room and closed the door behind him. He made his way to the linen closets to get a set of fresh sheets.
When he returned to the bedroom, he knocked.
“Come in!” Bokuto called cheerfully.
“Are you done changing?”  Akaashi had learned the hard way that he needed to ask this, after being told to enter. Bokuto had no sense of modesty. Not around him anyway.
“Nope!”
There you go.
“Tell me when you are, please.”
“Okay!” A few beats. “I’m done!”
Akaashi entered.
Bokuto stood grinning at him, ankle bones sticking out from Akaashi’s sweat pants, arms swinging at his sides as though to amuse himself… There was nothing remarkable about the picture. It was just Bokuto. All the same, Akaashi felt such a surge of love towards his friend that he almost physically tipped forward with the momentum of it.
Bokuto held up both his hands, poised as though to catch a ball. “Send ’em here.”
Akaashi cocked his head, non-plussed. “What?”
“The sheets. I wanna do it.”
Akaashi looked down at the folded sheets under his arm. Then, mouth twitching in a smile, he chucked them towards the ace.
Bokuto caught them and busied himself making the bed. Akaashi watched in silence.
“Good job,” he said, when Bokuto was done.
Bokuto grinned. “Y’know I heard about these sheets for men that are made of this special material that needs to be washed less often? Cause like, guys don’t wash their sheets. Cool, right?”
Akaashi rolled his eyes and let out a small chuckle. “That’s disgusting. Also, a generalization. I wash my sheets.”
“Well yeah. Guys who aren’t you.” Bokuto paused, thoughtfully. “Or Kageyama. Oh and definitely Inarizaki’s captain. What’s his name again?”
“Kita.”
“Right. He definitely washes his sheets.”
Akaashi smiled. “I’m gonna get changed, okay?”
“Kay. I’ll set up the futon for ya.”
“Thank you.”
Akaashi grabbed his clothes and headed to the washroom. When he came back, Bokuto was sitting cross-legged in his bed.
“Kaashi?”
“Yeah?”
“If you could be an amphibian, what kind would you be?”
Akaashi shook his head. “No DMC’s tonight, remember?”
“Oh! Right. I’m sorry, I forgot.”
Akaashi walked to the light switch and paused with his hand over it. He allowed himself to enjoy one more look at Bokuto.
“Night, Kaashi,” Bokuto said. He was still sitting cross-legged on the bed, smiling like a child on his birthday.
“Goodnight, Bokuto.”
Akaashi turned off the light. He made his way to his futon in the dark and settled into it. Pulling the covers over himself, Akaashi rolled over and closed his eyes.
“Kaashi?” Bokuto’s voice called out after a few seconds.
Akaashi held back a sigh. He didn’t like reprimanding Bokuto, but they really needed to get their sleep for tomorrow.
“Yes, Bokuto?” he said, keeping his eyes closed and his back turned.
“I really did forget about the no DMC agreement. I didn’t mean to break my promise.”
Akaashi’s eyes flicked open.
Then, he smiled softly into the dark.
“Okay,” he said, shifting around to face Bokuto’s hazy form. “I believe you.”
“Night, Kaashi.”
“Goodnight, Bokuto.”

You know, I was also thinking about the progression of musical instruments in NSR. Because obviously there's some music tech going on that allows for drums to be played with just drumsticks.
I've had this idea and wip around for months, hopefully I can finish now that school is done, but it was going to show the progression of musical instruments through the generations of rock.
So yeah, gonna use this as an excuse to talk about instrument lore in NSR because I find it really interesting to think about.
The Goolings had entirely "normal" instruments, from a full drum set to guitars that had cool shapes but did nothing more than play music like they were supposed to. Basically the same musical instruments that we have in our world, or at least what we had like about 40 years ago. By the time the Goolings disbanded I don't think a lot of musical tech advancements actually happened.
Ex-Jay was when musical tech started to advance. Guitars and other instruments were probably still the same, at least when they started, but the drums are where most of the progression too place and they were more like those drum hero games. Not a full set, but still physically real and probably needed some kind of power or something. It was easier to move and probably soon advanced to not even needing physical drums to be hit. Just need the drumsticks and the base that would hold a holographic drum.
Then would be Bunk Bed Junction. At their start is when a lot of instruments would start getting upgrades/better features. Guitars could now be customized to the max, allowing for all kinds of features and powers to go through them. Drums no longer even needed bases to work, just the sticks themselves (and probably some calibration like a Wii remote lol). Other instruments also got upgrades like pianos, strings, woodwinds, tech instruments. All of them got some kind of upgrade to make them easier for the user to transport or to better harness their magical capabilities. Also being more versatile for people with disabilities or are left handed.
Like this is when the strings on guitars are either STARTING to be holographic or there are no physical stings, just like an input on the neck of the guitar. You can turn off the holo strings and just turn the head of the guitar to make it left handed. Or if you have an uneven guitar body, then guitars are double sided and you just have a case over one side that seamlessly hides one side. If you want to change what hand is dominant then you just take the case off and put it on the other side (the tech makes the casing work, I can see how it works in my head but I doubt I'd be able to explain it fully). But this was all coming out around the time of the revolution, maybe a year or two beforehand. Which is why Mayday has a more traditional guitar for the time. The truly customizable, holographic guitars were way too expensive for her.
And finally, the generation of Yiruk's band, or like a year or two after the revolution. This is basically the age of holographic instruments. Guitars only need the stem/neck and can then create the head and body holographically. Piano/keyboards just need a set of bracelets to be worn and you have a keyboard that can appear at any point in front of you. Drums I don't think got any kind of upgrade as just having the drumsticks were already revolutionary to the musical industry. The only thing I can see is if they cut the drumstick in half and make it half holo. When not holo, the two sticks can be put together to make just one stick for easy carry (and probably a lot easier to lose too).
But yeah, a lot of instruments become easy to carry around, easy to customize, and easy to make accessible. The only thing not easy is the fact this tech is pretty new and so would be pretty expensive for the first few years. Thankfully, the B2J generation of instruments is also really versatile and have gotten really cheap by this point. Ex-Jay instruments are still kicking around but they are seen a lot more like hassles now.
The Gooling's generation of instruments are definitely still around, and probably making a retro comeback, especially with Yinu having an instrument from that time period and Mayday bringing back Kul Fyra's guitar. Though they are also really expensive to get since they are no longer made, or really expensive to having someone make because someone has to basically hand make instruments without all the tech as no mainstream instrument makers are making those kinds of instruments anymore. So yeah, they are instruments that are collected more than played.
I'm sure a lot of people don't like the holographic instruments and probably say they should have stopped making upgrades at B2J's generation (heck, some probably say the instruments from Ex-Jays gen should have been the end of the upgrades), but that's not how business runs. Some of the main critiques is running out of power and not being able to use an instrument at all, having to keep up with updates and software patches, and just losing the overall feel of what an instrument should be. Some musicians feel like they can't even connect with their instruments because it feels more like touching a screen half the time than playing an instrument. Not to mention people feel the sound is not the same coming out of an electric instrument than an acoustic one, but that's a fight that's been going on for decades.
There have been advances in holo-tech that do allow for more tactile sensations with holo-instruments, but that is still being worked on for most instruments other than guitars and drums which have the most advancements out of all instruments. Well, I think piano is also up there with some pretty good advancements.
There are some experimental instruments being tested that would allow for little to seemingly no outside instrument base for holo-instruments. Meaning, instead of having a stick for drums, a neck for a guitar, or a base for a keyboard to be projected in front of you, a musician might only need a few rings on their fingers or like a bracelet.
Already pianos have been making this advancement where a player only needs a bracelet on each wrist to properly allow their hand to play a holo-piano, however, as of now they also need a necklace to make the height requirements and body direction consistent. Otherwise if you tried to play on one side of the piano without the necklace then you might just turn the piano entirely. This doesn't happen with a base on the floor because if you turn your body then the keyboard doesn't follow you.
There's also people trying out belts for keyboards to project from, but as of now it is too finicky as clothes can get in the way or depending on how a person stands, sits, or moves, the holo-keyboard can get messed up or be in a very awkward position.
It's really trying to find a way to calibrate height and direction of an instrument like the drumsticks can do. So far it is more difficult with instruments that aren't hit with the holo-projector (the drumsticks for drums). So percussion instruments are really easy to holo-fy, but guitars, pianos, string instruments are very difficult to without some kind of glove. Even the bracelets mess up sometimes because it is hard to tell what keys/strings the hand is trying to hit.
There just has to be a lot more advancements in holo-tech before holo instruments become a reliable experience for anyone. Like 1010 and other robots/people with cybernetic hands can easily use holo-instruments because they can just get some software to connect with their robotic limbs. The instrument will know exactly what key/string is being played and almost no problems occur other than the occasional glitch in the system. But humans/people without cybernetics have a tougher time getting consistent feedback out of holo-instruments.
I don't even know how far along woodwind and brass instruments are in musical tech. Those are probably still in the transitioning stage of where Ex-Jay and B2J generations were at. There are little to no holo-instruments that you have to blow in to. So far it was just too much work for companies to really be bothered with at the moment. But I do think some advancements are being made. Like there are definitely electric brass and woodwind instruments, but definitely no holo ones. If there are holo ones, then they belong to the elites like 1010 or other very famous musicians.

Harnessing Solar Power: The Future of Sustainable Energy
Tumblr media
Solar power, derived from the radiant energy emitted by the sun, has emerged as a pivotal solution to the global energy crisis. As the world grapples with the twin challenges of climate change and depleting fossil fuel reserves, solar energy offers a clean, renewable, and increasingly cost-effective alternative. This article delves into the mechanisms of solar power, its benefits, technological advancements, and the challenges that need to be addressed for its broader adoption.
Understanding Solar Power
Solar power harnesses energy from sunlight through two primary technologies: photovoltaic (PV) systems and solar thermal systems.
1. Photovoltaic Systems: These systems use solar cells to convert sunlight directly into electricity. Made primarily from silicon, these cells generate electric current when exposed to sunlight, a phenomenon known as the photovoltaic effect. PV systems are commonly seen in rooftop solar panels and large solar farms.

Researchers discover a potential application of unwanted electronic noise in semiconductors
Random Telegraph Noise (RTN), a type of unwanted electronic noise, has long been a nuisance in electronic systems, causing fluctuations and errors in signal processing. However, a team of researchers from the Center for Integrated Nanostructure Physics within the Institute for Basic Science (IBS), South Korea has made an intriguing breakthrough that can potentially harness these fluctuations in semiconductors. Led by Professor Lee Young Hee, the team reported that magnetic fluctuations and their gigantic RTN signals can be generated in a vdW-layered semiconductor by introducing vanadium in tungsten diselenide (V-WSe2) as a minute magnetic dopant. The team's work is published in Nature Electronics . High contact resistance in lateral devices usually limits the manifestation of inherent quantum states and further degrades the device's performance. To overcome these limitations, the researchers introduced a vertical magnetic tunneling junction device by sandwiching a few layers of V-WSe2, a magnetic material, between the top and bottom graphene electrodes. This device was able to manifest inherent quantum states such as magnetic fluctuations and achieve high-amplitude RTN signals, even with a small vanadium doping concentration of just ~0.2%.
