CHAPTER 1

"You must be J.T. Hope." a woman asked.

"Ma'am?" the man questioned as she looked at his cowboy boots.

"Sam's expecting you, I'll

take you to your office." The woman said leading the way.

"She'll be with you in a moment." she finished.

"Morning, Mr. Hope." a woman said walking into the room,sam brookes was her name.

"What is this all about?" J.t asked.

"It's a department requirement." Sam told him.

"Every new program has to be evaluated by a qualified professional." She continued.

"A single mother from out of state?" He questioned.

"She'll be at the ranch

by the time you get back,I also understand you have a teen girl living there,with nothing but men,she might need someone to look up to." Sam continued.

"What?, and Daisy is the daughter of one of the ranch hands its different." He started to say.

"The department pays her salary,you'll have to look

after her room and board,I also saw that Daisy has a record." Sam started.

"Tagging,stealing,assualt,her father not coming into her life until she turned fourteen , must've been hard on her,

Her being around these boys ,

could make her go back to her ways." Sam explained with concern.

"You load my up with extra costs,and still you refuse to fund the program?,and Daisy

won't be an issue." J.t questioned and explained.

"We've already discussed this." Sam stated.

"I only applied for my expenses!" J.t Exclaimed.

"Prove to me that your program works,and we will revisit the subject of funding."

Sam continued.

" If your approach worked,

I wouldn't be doing this." J.t said.

"Mr. Hope, if you're so determined to work with kids, why don't you re enter the force,and work the juvenile division?" Sam questioned.

"Look, let's not start giving

each other career advice, okay?Now, I have met your requirements,I'm doing this program,I came here for my firstthree kids and I am not

leaving without 'em." J.t stated sternly.

"Fine,I'll introduce you." Sam started.

"First, we've got Booker Stokes,17 year old bipolar bully moved in the stock market,also convicted for

possession, assault in bed."

"Sounds like a real charmer." J.t said.

"No, actually that would be Ernesto Mendoza,16 year old tagger, gangbanger and car thief,who would follow you into a revolving door and come out ahead of you,I would keep him away from Daisy." She stated.

"Lastly, Kieth Frasier, 17, we busted him breaking into a pharmaceutical warehouse.

Ran the cops asses off, Mother's in jail, no father,

God knows how long he's been using,He's been here before,hasn't responded to any program or treatment yet

And like the other two,

goes straight to adult court

next time he's picked up,

I wanna see these kids back

here in exactly two weeks." Sam finished explaining.

"Two weeks?" J.t questioned.

"What do you want old man?" Daisy questioned.

"I told ya to stop calling me that, Need your help rounding up the cattle." Shorty said from the door of the cabin.

"Yeah, yeah im comin'." Daisy said putting on her hat.

"Hurry up now!" He yelled.

"Im comin'" She exclaimed.

"J.T is doing some program, now I don't want you to hang out with whoever he brings." Colt said to his kid.

"Don't tell me what to do old man!,stop acting like my father when you barely apleared in my life." Daisy said as a truck came down the trail.

"Why you little!" Colt said as she stuck her tongue out.

Shorty let out a sigh.

"How are you doing boss?" Shorty questioned.

Daisy noticed one boy in the passenger seat and two in the back.

She was pretty sure the two in the back were lookin' at her.

"Colt,Shorty,Daisy." J.t greeted.

"Come on out boys,line up over here,grab your gear two." He continued.

"Why don't you meet our new friends." J.t said as Daisy walked up to them.

"Im gonna enjoy this." Daisy stated seeing one of them look her up and down.

"hola nena mi nombre es Ernesto." The boy said with a smirk kissing her hand.

(Hi babe my name is ernesto)

"Well Ernesto,Im Daisy." She said with a blush.

"Alright Daisy is off limits,unless you want Colt to rip you a new one,This is Ernesto,Booker,And Keith." J.t Said clapping Daisy and Ernesto on the Shoulder.

Colt glared at the three,specifically Ernesto.

Daisy gave him a "Oh this pisses you off,well too bad imma do it anyway." Look.

"This is shorty." J.t said as the old man walked up to shake their hands,none of em' did.

Colt scoffed out a laugh.

"Daisy if you would be so kind." J.t said.

"Out here our days start at six and ends at six,What you do after that is entirely up to you,there is no leaving the bunkhouse after nine under any circumstances,make sure you take care of your buisness before than." Daisy said , the words burned into the back of her mind.

"Wait I stay in the Bunker house!" Daisy exclaimed.

"She ain't gonna be in there with em'!" Colt said.

"We'll see what we can do." J.t said.

"Ernesto wouldn't mind waking up to your beatiful face every day." Ernesto said winking at her.

"Back off boy!" Colt exclaimed.

"You back off, Old man!" Daisy exclaimed.

"Alright! now we got you some new clothes , I want ya'll to put them on." J.t said cutting the tension.

"No more of this whatever you call this here,Daisy your clothing also need to be... changed." J.t said.

"Whats wrong with what im wearing,Im not changing what im wearing all because of them." Daisy said with a glare, her plaid shirt was cropped and opened showing a black crop top,her shorts torn up almost too her thighs.

"Don't argue,I already told you about those clothes!" Colt

exclaimed.

"Yeah,Yeah,Whatever old man!" Daisy exclaimed.

"Ernesto thinks you look good." Ernesto said winking.

"I swear boy you better-" Colt started only to be cutoff.

"Why thank you Ernesto." Daisy said running her hand through her hair.

"Get a good nights sleep,you've got a busy day ahead of you,oh and keep an eye on Keith here,seems he's training for the olympic track team,reminds me of when we met Daisy." J.t stated.

"There all yours shorty." He finished as Shorty Laughed,spitting on the ground.

"Oh this is gonna be fun." Daisy clapped her hands.

It was now in the middle of the night , Daisy was out by the stable's , silence filled the air.

"What ya thinking about querida ?" Ernesto questioned as Daisy launched backwards.

"Jesus christ! , Ernesto why do you feel the need to do that?!" Daisy exclaimed quietly as the boy laughed.

"Because the more Ernesto scares you , the more of a chance you'll jump into Ernesto's arms." Ernesto said as She leaned closer to his face.

"Is it wrong that Ernesto wants to-" Ernesto was cut off as Daisy pulled him in for a kiss.

After being cockblocked and innteruppted , now was better than later.

"Is it wrong that I think Im falling in love with you Daisy." Ernesto said as the two kissed again.

"Not at all." Daisy said , The two said before kissing once again.

"Did you lock your keys in the car , Partner?" Ernesto said with a laug as the two walked up to colt , locked out of his car.

Colt took in the appearance of the two sixteen year olds , Messy hair , wrinkled shirts , oh dear god.

"Relax old man , We made out , got a bit handsy with eachother , but thats it , not like im a virgin anyways." Daisy said as Ernesto turned to her with a raised brow.

"Oh please , You and your looks got you a little somthing." Daisy said as Ernesto smirked , Colt growled as the two turned back to him.

As Ernesto took the crowbar from colt and shimmed it , the door unlocked.

"Feels so good , Don't say I never did nothing for you homie." Ernesto stated.

"Im gonna head back to the house." Daisy said , kissing Ernesto on the cheek and heading home.

"Hey , you gotta show me that trick , and if you hurt my kid , your dead." Colt said.

"Just say the word amigo , It's Ernesto , And I would never hurt Daisy , Ernesto." Ernesto stated , chanting his name at the end.

"Ernesto , what are you doing here?" Daisy said washing the dishes as June put them up.

"Hey Daisy , June , need some clean towells please." He said.

"No one brought up the dirty ones , so there are none." June said.

"I might have one ." Daisy said as The two looked at the schedule.

"Looks like that's keiths chore , sorry about that." june said , Daisy noticed Ernesto's clenched jaw , following after him.

Back at the cabin Ernesto dragged Keith out of bed , ignoring Daisy calling him.

"Get off the bed punk." Ernesto stated as Keith argued.

"Ernesto leave it , he's pissed because you fidn't do the laundry , booker help!" Daisy

said as the tension got thicker.

"So freakin' sick and tired of you punk!, moping around here like you live on your own, man we got ten year olds more useful in my gang than you , you don't even deserve to be called a homie cause homies are always there for each other." Ernesto

stated as Booker and Daisy stood by , booker had pushed her behind him.

"Your not even there for your sorry self punk." Ernesto said pushing him.

"Boys enough!" Daisy exclaimed , Booker telling keith to get himself and his act together.

Keith had tackled Ernesto onto the bed , booker trying to help.

He banged Bookers head against the walls , landing punches , little did they know Colt and Shorty heard Daisy's angry screams .

They came in finding Booker holding keith on the floor , Ernesto kicking him , and Daisy glaring.

"Sit down , Knock it off you boneheads!" Colt exclaimed , pushing them onto the bed.

"You wanna get hurt , there's plenty of oppurtunities on this ranch." Colt said to them.

"Don't you be afraid of snake boy , you be afraid of me and of Daisy ." Shorty said with his rattle snake rattler.

And Daisy got up , The boys not expecting it .

SLAP!

All three of them Got the back of her hand , She glared , if you looked closly her glare slightly softened on ernesto , but it was still harsh.

"Your lucky you three got the back of my hand , and not the barrel of my shotgun to your face , Now get some sleep , Ernesto come with me." She stated.

The men , Daisy ,and Ernesto walked out of the cabin , Colt glaring as Daisy practically dragged Ernesto to the house , luckily June was in bed as they went to her room.

"Here." Daisy said Passing him a clean towel , boxers , and a wife beater.

"Im sorry." Ernesto said as Daisy leaned in kissing his unbruised cheek .

He showered , upon getting dressed and coming into her room , he noticed the first aid

kit.

"Sit." She said as he followed her directions , wincing as she cleaned his face .

"All done , You better hope you three get to stay ." Daisy sid putting up the kit , Pushing the boy onto the bed.

"I know , Ernesto screwed up ." Ernesto said running a hand through his hair as Daisy laid on his chest.

"all three of you did , but enough of that , just stay with me , and be here when I wake up , Please?" Daisy said with a yawn.

"Always querida." He said kissing the now sleeping girls forhead.

ch 5 of his down bitch , her cholo

Daisy helped the boys with saddling the horses.

"Alright , button up those shirts ,tuck em' in , and roll down those sleeves." J.t said to the boys.

"Órale chica mis nombres ernesto , aye mira que lindas , chiquita." Ernesto said to the horse.

(Orale girl my names Ernesto, oh look how pretty, little girl)

"Cute , his name is ranger." Daisy snickered as Ernesto looked at her , before looking down to see if he really was a boy.

"It's good talking to your horse , forms a critical bond , Like me and Seraphina." She stated as J.t came over.

"She's right , now mount up." J.t said.

"What you gonna make me button up too?" Ernesto questioned.

"That's right , Button up , tuck that shirt in , and roll down those sleeves." J.t said as Ernesto rolled his eyes , Daisy walked over to him helping.

"sabes nena ernesto le gustaria mas esto si me estuvieras quitando la ropa." Ernesto smirked as Daisy blushed a bit before scoffing out a laugh.

(you know babe Ernesto would like this more if you were taking off my clothes )

"Your a flirt." Daisy laughed as he kissed her hand.

"Watch it boy!" Colt yelled to him.

"Hold still damnit !" Booker exclaimed , yanking the horses harness.

"Booker , how'd you like if I put a metal bar in your mouth , Pulled it to the back of your teeth and started yanking it around." J.t said to the boy.

"Well the damn thing won't listen to me , what the hell am I supposed to do?" Booker questioned.

"Your a big man right , you demand respect? , well so does he , now step back here and show him some." J.t stated.

"Alright shorty." J.t said.

"Take this saddle and throw it on em' ." Shorty said.

After getting Keith on his horse , bareback , due to fact he didn't want to , they rode off , Daisy laughing as Ernesto said somthing to the Ranger .

When they got back , Daisy and Ernesto headed with shorty , to give calves their shots.

"You mexican , ain't you?" Shorty asked the sixteen year old boy , who was almost distracted when Daisy hopped the fence , a great view of her - Shorty wacked his head as Ernesto replied to his question.

"Oh Sí , sí . " Daisy heard Ernesto say , as she was petting the calves.

"Don't be a smart aleck boy , no intendo Español ." Shorty said to him as they reached the gate.

"Mexican vaqueros , they taught us old cowboys everything we know about horse backin' and how to work the cows." Shorty explained as Ernesto looked at Daisy.

"They have a holiday for it , call it Charro day , you ever hear of it?" Shorty said.

"No." Ernesto said.

"You didn't , well you ought to , it's in your blood , them cows there , their mexican." Shorty said to him.

"Corrientes , And we're gonna vaccinate them wuth four way." Daisy explaied grabbing Ernesto's hand , leading him over to the cows.

"Pay attention here and learn somthin." Shorty said whistling to the cows , using the Lasso.

"Come here and hold this rope." Shorty said to Ernesto as he put the calf on its side.

"Get that leg up like that and it can't go anywhere." Daisy said holding a shot.

"Daisy do tha' honors." Shorty sId as Daisy gave the calf a shot.

"Alright there you go." Shorty said handing Ernesto the empty shot from daisy's hand.

"Now then, Go on." Shorty said as Daisy released the calf from the lasso.

"Man , looks like it doesn't hurt him none." Ernesto said.

"Doesn't hurt em' att all , your turn." Daisy said.

"You know these ropes were given to us by the mexicans too , they call them la reata , thats where we got the name Lariat we just knocked off the a at the end." Shorty explained as he lassoed the other calf .

"Man shorty watch were your flingin' that thing." Daisy said as the two teens dodged the lasso.

"All yours." Shorty said to Ernesto.

"What- I ?" Ernesto stamered as be he went over to the calf , copying Shorty's actions.

"That's it get that leg , okay here we go." Daisy said passing him the shot.

And they released the calf , as Ernesto got up and cheered.

"Yeah if the homies could see me now!, Ernesto!" He exclaimed as Daisy laughed , Going over to him , pecking his cheek.

"That was a good job!" Shorty said , Although the boy was a blushing mess from the kiss Daisy gave him.

Chapter 4

"Should of seen the look on your face." Daisy laughed as Ernesto scoffed leaning toward the window.

"Yeah yeah." He said with a smirk , Staring her up and down.

"Hurry up boys!" Daisy said clapping her hands , leaving the three to get dressed.

"Daisy yer doin' that on purpose!" Shorty exclaimed as he was caught in her lasso.

"C'mon Shorty its funny!" She exclaimed with a laugh as the boys walked up to them.

"buenos días amor." Ernesto said kissing her hand.

"Good mornin' to you too Ernesto , looking good." Daisy said walking around him.

"You look like one of the village people." Booker said to Ernesto as Daisy pointed at the food.

"Oh! , estas yoloso porque soy moy guapo." Ernesto said to him as he made finger guns , pretending to blow on them.

"Morning Shorty , Daisy." J.t said to them raising a brow at her clothes.

"Good mornin' Hope." Shorty said.

Shorts that go to her knees , her boots , and hat , the only thing throwing him off?, her shirt , which was a red and black plaid bustier , it had no sleeves , and was cropped a bit under her chest area.

"What?,it was hot." She questioned spinning around , rolling her eyes , grabbing her matching jacket.

"She is hot." Ernesto said grabbing a plate.

"See!" She pointed.

"Daisy just-, Ernesto hows it fit?" J.t said cutting himself off asking Ernesto about his oufit.

"Perfecto man , like pants on J.lo." The sixteen year old said hitting his butt to make a point.

"He's not wrong." Daisy winked as she nudged the boy when J.t sighed.

"Yeah you put a silk bow on a hog , but you still got a hot." Shorty said as he swung the lasso onto his head.

Daisy let out a laugh as She grabbed Ernesto and pulled him toward the food.

"Keith , Booker , you understand english right?" J.t told the two boys , who replied yes.

"Si , well you wanna eat ,

you go put on the clothes

that we gave you , or you'd be wearing that jumpsuit

they'll give you back at juvie." J.t explained as the two looked at him , Daisy stared as she ate her breakfest.

"Now!" He exclaimed as the two walked off.

Shorty laughed as J.t stared at him , Daisy glanced at Ernesto , who winked with

a smile.

"C'mon serephina , let's do some tricks." She said as She let The horse out of her stall.

She grabbed her trick saddle , placing it on Serephina , who neighed in agreement , Daisy then led her to the pen , where the course was set up in one area , the other part was clear for other tricks.

"This ranch is 2,000 acres , we have to take care of all of them." She heard J.t say.

"Woah!" Booker yelled as He and the boys saw Daisy Doing standing as she rode serephina , she held a flag spinning it in the air.

"Daisy's horse is one of the dozen we have , serephina is a trick horse , Daisy is gonna be one of the openers for the rodeo coming up." J.t said as The boys stared in amazement.

"We also have four hundred head of cattle , you better show them all respect ,

you will learn to ride a horse , not like Daisy ,

work cattle , you'll stay

out of trouble , because

you'll be too damn tired

to try ." J.t explained as one of the horses neighed.

Daisy rode Serephina to the fence , Ernesto petted the horse , who nudged him , Daisy let out a laugh.

"She likes you." Daisy said as Serephina nudged him again.

"Ernesto is liked by everybody." Ernesto said smirking at her.

"You'd have chores , I expect them to get done." J.t said clearing his throught , Booker leaned away from the horse.

"You're here to learn and be part of a team , refusal to participate is not an option

gentlemen." J.t said as Ernesto turned back to Daisy who shrugged.

"This is the cattle pen , now the dozen that colt brought in are here for inoculations , shots , the rest are still out on the ranch." J.t said to the boys , Daisy who let Serephina chill in the pen , stood by ernesto , who was being glared at by Colt.

"Ernesto don't think Your dad likes me much." Ernesto said to Daisy, who laughed , why he speaks in third person , no one knows , but Daisy thinks its cute.

"He'll get over it." She said as Booker stepped in a cow pie , yelling out crap.

"No that's a cow pie , it's a smell your gonna learn to love." Colt said as Daisy and Ernesto laughed , Colt glared as The boy wrapped his arm around Daisy's shoulder.

But no matter what he does , Colt will never be seen by her as a father.

"Now the next few weeks we'll be bringing in thirty-five header ropers

to release too the rodeo." J.t said to them.

"I'll expect you to learn enough to be useful to use , You are our new ranch hands , we're counting on you , each of you to do your

part." He continued.

"Here you're on the honor system , any of you lie , steal , or betray a trust , that's it you are gone , You'll be shipped back to juvie so that three other more willing participants can be sprung from that hell hole to enjoy the wonders that mother nature has provided." J.t finished as Daisy grabbed Ernesto's hand.

"Yeah includes the deadly plant Keith's screwing with." Daisy siad pointing to the plant.

"Now when we're done here you go wash your hands and next time , next time you ask before you start shredding the greenery." J.t told him.

"Why are you doing this man?" Keith asked.

"Because im tired of kids your age , not growing up to become guys my age." J.t replied.

CHAPTER 3

Later on After Daisy had Finished taking her stuff to the house she was now staying in with June and Molly , she decided she needed some air.

Jogging to the stables she stopped by her horse,a beautiful midnight Black mare,Seriphina.

"Hey girl , remember those boys J.t Brought, they had this fight and Wam!,I punched Booker in the face,

Keith looks like a good guy ,

asked why colt was so protective, and Ernesto ,

wow." Daisy ranted to her horse.

"Just a wow? Ernesto's kinda offended Querida." Ernesto said entering the stable.

"Its almost curfew,what are you doing out here?" Daisy questioned , her face turning red.

"Ernesto could ask you the same question." He said with a smirk.

It was then she noticed that she was in her nightgown and he was in a white wife-beater and boxers.

"Why do you speak in third person?" Daisy questioned.

"I don't know, It just happens querida." Ernesto shrugged.

"You have questions,ask em' I'll answer." Daisy said as he stood infront of her.

"Your Colt's daughter,but I can see that you don't really see him as a father." Ernesto said,his eyes gazing into hers.

"He just appeared into my life at fourteen, my mom is somewhere out there , probably drinking herself silly, or dead." Daisy said.

"He also said you had done time, I mean Ernesto can't believe it." Ernesto said leaning towards her in curiousity.

"Yeah that's how he found out about me, Imagine finding out you had a kid because the detention center called you !, Stealing , tagging,and assault..."

Daisy exclaimed laughing.

"híjole chica ! , you just get more and more amazing, don't you." Ernesto smirked.

"Well we should probably turn in , G'night Ernesto." Daisy said with a smile.

"buenas noches,Mi novia." Ernesto said kissing her cheek.

As he was walking away , Daisy was red in the face,turning around

she gave Seriphina a

"did you see that." look.

The horse neighed in encouregment.

"There's a baby alligator in here, man!" Ernesto exclaimed with a scream.

"It's a lizard, man!" Keith Exclaimed.

Suddenly the three boys heard two laughs , Daisy and Shorty sat outside the window,Shorty had a rattlesnake rattler in his hand,While Daisy was looking at Ernesto.

"Oh boy, you're lucky

he didn't piss on you,You bellerin' like a branded calf." Shorty exclaimed.

"Rise and shine, boys,

we're wastin' daylight." Daisy said clapping her hands.

CHAPTER 2

"Well, this is home, fellers." Shorty said to the boys as Daisy picked up some of her stuff wondering where the hell she would sleep.

"Kinda messy, but she cleans up nice." Daisy finshed.

"It's a dump, man!" Ernesto said as Daisy glared.

"Are you calling me a messy woman , because I sleep here just fine,although now im gonna have to find somewhere else to sleep." Daisy said raising her brow.

Ernesto looked anywhere but at her.

" Hey, I ain't no animal!

, I don't have to stay in no shed!" booker exclaimed.

"No, you ain't an animal." Daisy stated placing down a box of sandwhiches, grabbing a cup to make herself a drink.

"Animals got rights, you're a ranch hand." Shorty finished coming out of the kitchen.

"This is where ranch hands stay,Daisy didn't minf staying here." He continued.

"This sucks,hey are we gonna have to stay with her,no offense." Keith said.

"None taken,I'll probably find a tree or somthin'" Daisy said finishing her drink standing by Ernesto.

" Ernesto would love waking up to your beatiful face everyday." Ernesto said smirking.

"Im sure you would Ernesto." Daisy laughed.

"They got sandwiches from juvie out here." Ernesto said with a unamused laugh.

" This is crap." Booker said throwing it to the ground.

"Well, if you hungry, it'll taste good." shorty said as Daisy took a sip from her cup.

"I'd pick that up if I was you,

unless you want a visit from the locals." Daisy said with a laugh.

"We got a lot of wildlife around here,Fox, coyote..." Shorty said.

"Bear." Daisy chirped as the boys stared.

Ernesto stopped chewing on his sandwich,giving Daisy a "Is he forreal." look.

Daisy cackled going back into the kitchen.

"Come on, Moss." J.t said to the dog,who let out a bark.

"Jim Hope?,June Anderson,

Nice to finally meet you in person." June said coming outside.

" Nice to meet you,Call me J.T." He said to the blonde.

"Well, did Shorty and Daisy help you settle in okay?" J.t asked.

"Fine,My daughter is so excited about all the room

she's got for her pets,She likes Daisy alot too,Speaking of she's welcome to stay with us,I understand the cabin she stays in is where the boys currently are." June said to him.

"Anybody pulls a knife on anyone again...You're gonna have an unfortunate accident with it." Colt stated sternly,Shorty smiled at Ernesto,Who Daisy helped off the ground.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Ernesto said,Colt glared,pulling Daisy out with him.

"Hey let go!,I have to get my stuff!" Daisy exclaimed.

"Gotta get my stuff,My hat looks good on you Ernesto,keep it I have many." Daisy said to the boys,before winking at Ernesto.

"You throw a hell of a punch." Booker said.

"You were an ass,but Im calling a truce for now,also try not to piss off colt." Daisy said to them.

"He sounds very protective of you." Keith said.

"He's my Dad." Daisy stated.

"Oh." Keith said scratching his head.

"Yeah,anyways there's one thing shorty forgot to tell you,when you're cleaning up around here,watch out for rattlesnakes,They like to find little dark spots to hide." Daisy finished.

"G'night boys." Daisy cackled leaving the cabin.
