Heket gave an abrupt snort through her nose, but it was enough to make them both look at her. She scribbled on the pad of paper, before holding it out to Lambert. They took the pad gently to examine it. Riddle: Can Gods be killed?
The mystery of the on-goings of the cult continues, with no proper leads as to who might be behind it. A trip to Anchordeep contains a strange incident where some of the denizens of the underwater grotto are nearly too much for a former God to handle, but also a visit to a cat Narinder is all too aware of.
Later in the night, the Lamb pays a visit to two former Gods in the healing bay; while Narinder's thoughts run so rampant that he decides to take a walk.
A certain 'old friend' is there to greet him when he ventures outside the cult.

A Tail of Two Cats Ch. 1
Summary: For Narinder, life as a Bishop was dull. Until he met a priestess named Forneus.
AO3 Link in the replies!
Leshy’s temple is filled with all different ranks in the Old Faith. There are priests, deacons, and even regular followers. The festival of the flowers is going on. A yearly festival that Leshy holds each year that is celebrated throughout Darkwood.
Narinder isn’t a fan of these festivals. There’s far too much noise and so many people. This whole place is chaos. Which makes sense, this is Leshy’s temple and his domain is chaos.
If Narinder didn’t care so much about Leshy he wouldn’t be here, but Leshy insisted that he come. He pleaded saying that the others were going to be there, so he should be too. It seemed like there wasn’t going to be any way out, so he relented. The things he does for his little brother.
When he enters the temple everyone stops and stares at him. He’s used to it. For one he’s towers above the crowd. Out of his four siblings he’s the tallest, which on its own is intimidating. It doesn’t help that his domain is death. All are afraid of him.
Ignoring the hundreds of stares he is getting, he makes his way through the temple. The crowd parts to let him through, half out of respect and half out of fear. He hears whispers from the crowd. “What’s he doing here? I thought that this was a festival for celebrating life,” One whisperer says.
Narinder isn’t sure who specifically said that, but he glares in the direction that it came from. Instant silence.
He holds his head up high as he continues through the temple.
“Narinder!” He hears a voice call out. He looks over and its Leshy.
Leshy rushes over to Narinder and gives him a hug. “You came!”
“Of course, I did,” Narinder says. He gives Leshy a reassuring smile.
His other three siblings follow in shortly after. Heket crosses her arms. “You’re late,” Heket says.
“Be nice, Heket. At least he came,” Shamura says. “Narinder, I’m glad you’re here.” They smile at him.
“Thanks. I’m glad you’re here too,” Narinder replies.
“Hello, Narinder,” Kallamar says. He is standing the furthest away from Narinder. He’s not happy to see Narinder right now, not that he ever is.
“Hello, Kallamar.” Narinder says. The feeling is mutual.
“Now that we are all here we can begin!” Leshy says.
Narinder groans. There’s a harvest ritual that occurs before the festival can officially begin. Him and his other three siblings follow behind as Leshy leads the way.
They get to a platform that has five chairs for each of them. Kallamar sits on the farthest left, and Heket sits next to him. Shamura sits on the farthest right chair and Narinder sits next to them. The middle Chair is left open for Leshy, who is leading the ritual.
Narinder barely pays attention to the ritual. He’s seen it done hundreds of times over the past few centuries. Leshy gives a speech, there’s a couple of sacrifices, and then flowers sprout everywhere. It’s nothing special.
He looks around trying to see if there’s anything interesting. A priestess involved with the ritual catches his eye. She’s a black cat like him. Either she’s new or he didn’t notice her last year. Narinder feels like he would have noticed her last year though.
The ritual ends and flowers that had been planted all throughout the temple sprout. There is no rhyme and reason for where they were planted. Its chaos plain and simple.
He looks over at that cat priestess again and sees that her eyes are lit up at the sight of all these flowers. For some reason, his heart starts to race when he sees that look in her eyes. He looks away from her and at all the flowers that have bloomed. They are quite beautiful.
The rest that followed is a bit of a blur. All Narinder can think about is that cat priestess and how she looked when she saw the flowers fill the temple. He wonders if any of the flowers were planted by her.
Narinder’s mind is plagued by thoughts about her and he can’t stand it. He needs to know more about her. Perhaps meeting her will put his mind at rest. He finds that his liking of people often goes away after a short conversation.
He thinks about where she might be. The main celebration is occurring out in Leshy’s garden, plus there’s even more flowers. If she’s going to be anywhere she’s going to be there.
When he arrives at the garden he sees that his other siblings are already there. None of them really mingle with the followers. It’s seen as beneath them. The expectation is that a follower will approach them, and many followers do.
Narinder goes over and joins his siblings. Kallamar moves away from him by a few feet. Leshy isn’t with them as he other responsibilities with this festival. The four of them don’t really talk to each other. They don’t really get the chance. Followers come up to them. The vast majority of them ask for blessings. The protocol is to simply smile and assure them about whatever their concern is will be taken care of. Rarely, do they remember the blessing that was requested.
None come up to talk to Narinder. No one wants to think about death or talk about it. Least of all, talk to the god of death. So, Narinder stands there watching the crowd hoping to see the cat priestess.
After about an hour of standing he finally sees her. She’s with some other priests and she looks so happy. Her eyes light up the in the same way they did when flowers bloom when she looks around at the flowers that fill the garden. One of the priests says something that Narinder can’t hear and she laughs. That laugh carries throughout the garden. It’s so warm and filled with life.
The group disperses shortly after. Narinder is about to go up and talk to her when she approaches him first. She bows. “Greetings Bishop Narinder. I am Forneus.”
He reciprocates her greeting. For the first time in centuries he isn’t sure what to say. Thankfully, Forneus does. “This festival is beautiful,” She says.
“It certainly is.” He tries to look around, but his gaze is fixed to her. “I’ve been coming to them since Leshy first started them almost four hundred years ago.”
Her eyes light up again. “Wow, you must have gazed upon so many beautiful flowers!”
“I have, but I must say that this is the most beautiful festival of flowers that I have seen,” Narinder says.
“Really? Why is that?” Forneus asks.
“Well for one, you’re here,” Narinder says.
Forneus blushes. “That’s quite nice of you to say. I must admit that I was quite nervous as this is my first festival as a priestess.”
Narinder smiles. “You did quite well. Did you plant any of these flowers yourself?” He asks.
“Not any in this garden, but around the rest of the temple I planted many,” Forneus says.
“I must say you did a wonderful job,” Narinder says.
“Thank you,” Forneus says. “I’ve heard that you have quite the garden at your temple.”
“I do. While it isn’t as grand as the one here, but it is still incredibly beautiful,” Narinder says.
“I hope that one day, I get to say it,” Forneus says.
“If you’re ever there I wouldn’t mind giving a tour of the place,” Narinder says.
“That would be nice,” Forneus says. “I must go, but before I do I have something to give you.” She pulls out a bouquet of Camellias. There’s not many about 10 of them, but they’re all spectacular.
Narinder takes hold of the bouquet. “These are… spectacular. Thank you.” He holds it gently in his hands.
“You’re welcome.” Forneus bows again. “Thank you for talking to me Bishop Narinder.” She leaves.
Narinder stands there holding the bouquet, running his hands over the petals. He imagines that Forneus’s fur is as soft as them. His mind replaying the conversation he just had with her. Could it be possible that she likes him too? After all, she didn’t gave him flowers and didn’t ask for anything in return.
“Are you all right, Narinder? You have been staring at those flowers for a while,” Shamura asks.
Narinder looks up from the bouquet. He wasn’t aware of how long he had been staring at it. “Oh, yes, I am quite fine.” He puts the bouquet away in his robes.
The festival reaches its conclusion. Before it ends, Narinder sees Forneus a couple of times, but they never get the chance to talk. Each time Forneus smiles at him and Narinder gives her a wave. Waving at Forneus would be various noticeable could be considered a scandal, so he simply smiles when he sees her.
When Narinder gets back to his temple he takes the flower bouquet and plants it in his garden. The vibrant red stands out against his white flowers, but it’s a welcome pop of color.
For a while, he tries to go about his day, but finds that he’s distracted by thoughts of Forneus. There’s only one way to quiet these thoughts, and that is to go and see her. Hopefully, she’s at Leshy’s temple and not in some random village.
When he goes back to Leshy’s temple, Leshy immediately greets him. Narinder hasn’t given much thought about what excuse he would give Leshy if he asks him why he is there, but thankfully Leshy doesn’t ask.
They talk for a while. Narinder is anxious to see Forneus again, but he’s happy to spend time with his brother. Every now and then he looks around to see if he can find her, but he doesn’t have such luck.
It isn’t until he is just about to leave that he finds her or more precisely she finds him. She bows. “Bishop Narinder, it is so nice to see you again.”
“It’s nice to see you too, Forneus. I want to thank you again for the flowers, I planted them in my garden. They add a much need pop of color,” Narinder says.
“That’s really nice. Have they grown at all?” She asks.
“They have in fact,” Narinder reaches into his coat and pulls out a Camilla, “This is one of the new flowers that grew from the ones you gave me.” He gives it to her.
Her eyes light up and she gently takes it from him. “Wow. This is gorgeous.”
“I figured that I give you one of them as thanks,” Narinder says.
“When I heard you were here at the temple, I went in search of you. I wanted to see you again,” Forneus says.
Hearing that his heart starts pounding. “What a coincidence. I was visiting, because I hoped to see you again.”
Forneus blushes. “That’s very sweet for you to say. I really like it when you visit the temple.”
“Well, now that you’re here, I think that I will be visiting more often,” Narinder says.
“That would be lovely,” Forneus says. She smiles and Narinder feels as though the room is lighter now.
“I must go, but I’ll see you again. I promise.” With that Narinder leaves Leshy’s temple.
Within a few days he returns, and he once again sees Forneus. This time they sneak away to a more remote part of the temple where few people tread.
They sit in a room that overlooks the garden. Forneus gazes out the window, but Narinder can’t stop looking at her. “It really is quite lovely isn’t it?” She says.
“Indeed it is.” Narinder says. “I brought something for you.” He pulls out a bouquet made out of white lilies and white hydrangeas.
Forneus’s eyes lit up. She gleefully takes the bouquet. “Oh, Narinder! It’s so marvelous!”
“I was hoping you’d like it. I grew all these flowers myself in my garden,” He says.
“They’re so beautiful! I love them! Thank you!” Forneus exclaims. She pulls Narinder down and kisses him.
Narinder freezes. If there is one thing he wasn’t expecting it was a kiss. Once again, he can feel his heart beat as he sits next to her. All he can muster is a quick “You’re welcome.”
Even after he and Forneus have said their goodbyes, Narinder can still feel the kiss.
He wants to grow more flowers for Forneus, but he doesn’t have a clue as to what kind he should grow. There is only one flower expert he can think of that could help, Leshy, but that would mean explaining why he’s so interested in flowers, which is the last thing he wants to do.
It’s for Forneus, he tells himself, so he sucks up his pride and goes to look for his brother.
He finds Leshy in the main sanctuary talking to some followers. When Leshy sees Narinder he smiles and dismisses the followers. “Hey, Leshy. I have been thinking about adding more color to my garden. What flowers would you recommend?” Narinder asks.
“Looking for flowers for Forneus?” He asks with a smirk.
Narinder crosses his arms. “What makes you think something so ridiculous? I don’t even know who that is.”
Leshy laughs. “Oh, come on. I know that you’re not visiting for me. I’ve seen you sneaking off with her.” He nudges Narinder with his elbow.
“All right. Maybe, I do want to grow some flowers for her. So what?” Narinder says.
“I think it’s cute, and I know the right flowers if you really want to wow her.” He turns around digs through a box.
After a few seconds he’s holding a bunch of seeds. “Here’s some seeds. There are lilacs, roses, and daisies.”
Leshy drops the seeds in Narinder’s hand. “Are you sure these are the right seeds?” He asks.
“Of course, they are. I can recognize seeds by just looking at them.”
Narinder isn’t too convinced, but even if they aren’t the flowers Leshy says they are, they’re still flowers. Probably. “Thank you, Leshy,” Narinder says.
He turns to leave, but before he does, he looks back at Leshy, “Hey Leshy, you aren’t going to tell the others about this? You know how they can be, and I really don’t want a repeat of what happened last time.”
“I promise I won’t tell anyone.” Leshy smiles reassuringly.
With that Narinder leaves.

Since I personally don't see enough Aym/Baal content, how about Aym and Baal x reader (separate)? Where the reader, who is a lamb, gets sacrificed and is basically the lamb in the game. But every time the reader appears in Narinder's realm after perishing, they're constantly flirting with him. They consistently compliment everything about him and are just.. practically obsessed with him (not in a weird way).
Oh yeah! We gotta give them more love tbh (also I'm not 100% sure if you meant flirting with Narinder or the brothers, but I'll assume the brothers)
.....
Aym
At first he thinks you're incompetent as a vessel, given the number of times you've perished to something stupid and ended up in Narinder's realm...
And then he realizes you're literally dying to see him (which is no exaggeration), but he's just confused and irritated by your attitude, thinking you're taking full advantage of his master's power.
He doesn't see why you wanna talk to him.
"You know, I love the broody types..not many of us lambs were ever broody-"
"You think serving our master is a joke to you?" He sneers quietly. "The prophecy is to be fulfilled by you. I suggest you act like it. Master, will you send them away-"
"It is not your place to order me around, Aym." Narinder warned. "For I am quite amused by these interactions...I've never seen you become so..flustered." He snickers
At this point, Aym realizes he has no choice but to accept his fate just for his master's amusement-
He is, however, a little flattered when one day you gift him a bracelet made from the bones of your enemies.
It stuns him into silence, only snapping at Baal after you leave and he teases him over it.
Anytime you ask about it thereon, he'll claim that he got rid of it..
But you see it on his wrist, hiding underneath his sleeve.
Even after reuniting him with his mother, she learns of the gift and fawns over how "cute" you two are (with Aym rolling his eyes and trying not to blush).
Baal
While Baal showed concern that you weren't the right fit for being the prophesized liberator, he wasn't as condescending as his brother.
Every time you died, he got to see what fresh new injury killed you, and he wondered why you'd put yourself through this suffering.
Then he realizes you're just trying to revisit his master's realm to flirt with him.
He gets tongue-tied, unsure of how to respond to your compliments, trying to hide his blush behind his staff or clench his jaw so he doesn't smile.
But as much as he appreciates your kindness, he worries for your health despite death being of little consequence to you.
"Doesn't it hurt your cult every time you die in a crusade? Doesn't it hurt...you?"
"Baal, the only thing that hurts is that I can't marry you.." You pout, offering him a camelia flower bouquet. "My followers throw their hearts at me every day...but I feel nothing for them. I've rejected dozens of proposals, because one day I want you to be-"
"So this is why my cult's faith is so low...go back and kill Heket. This is no time for marriage vows." Narinder scorns, sending you away immediately.
When you resurrect Baal, however, you married him on the spot (with Forneus' blessing of course).
Ngl, he's happy and always hoped this day would come. He couldn't say anything before but he can now.

COTL x SDV Crossover AU
I've been brewing something, and it's not Ancient Fruit Wine I promise. Inspired by Husky's Farmer AU I started working on a Crossover AU with Stardew Valley.
Prepare for some of my unfiltered notes and messy doodles.
Tumblr media
Lamb - Charlie, he/they
Their family owns a livestock farm, which is owned by their parents. He and his siblings often help out around, taking care of the animals but he still has enough freedom and time to help other villagers and farmers such as Narinder. Livestock because that's kind of similar to taking care of the cultists, right? Right?? :'D
(this is basically like Marnie's Farm)
Charlie was found as an infant in the forest by his parents who brought him home to be raised like one of their own children. He is not aware of that, but he understands junimo language & can sense a certain aura from the deeper parts of the forest. He's also better at picking up the magical aura surrounding the magical creatures.
Bishops
Their god form is similar to their Eldritch form, whilst their disguise / mortal form is similar to their regular Bishop design. In their mortal form they still stand out though, considering they're usually taller than regular villagers and always surrounded by a mystic aura of sorts.
Narinder
Narinder moved to the valley recently. It's not clear if he did so on his own wish or if someone, or something made him. Either way he's here to start a new life, and despite not having any experience he still somewhat grows into this role. He's glad he can turn over a new leaf without the prejudice of his past life.
Lamb welcomes him the day he moves to the valley and quickly notices he has no idea what he is doing, and after watching him struggle for a bit he offers his help. Narinder, being too prideful to ask help on his own accord, accepts the neighbouring farmer's advice and help albeit a bit hesitant at first.
His original domain is the very bottom of Skull Cavern, but since he left for unknown reasons the residing monsters have run wild and rampant and the very cavern itself has twisted and distorted by the uncontrolled magic, making it run seemingly endlessly.
Tumblr media
Twins
Baal is a full time adventurer in the Adventurer's Guild, he frequently goes on long trips down the dungeons to slay monsters, collect loot and bring home ores, minerals and weapons. Aym used to be an adventurer as well, but stepped down from a full time position after he injured his eye. He runs a flower shop attached to Forneus' General Store & sometimes helps out in the Guild selling goods.
Most other characters fill pretty expected or similar roles.
Forneus runs the local general store.
Rakshasa works at the Saloon.
Kudaii runs the blacksmith/weaponsmith. Clauneck is the fortune teller, perhaps also with a semi-permanent location in or near town.
Fisherman runs the fish shop.
Leshy
Leshy, a magical, possibly godly creature residing in the deep woods [based on the DeepWoods Mod that adds an infinite dungeon to the secret woods]. Sometimes he surfaces to the lighter parts of the forest. Not the only godly creature in the valley.
Heket
Heket resides in the Witch's Swamp. She stays mostly hidden and rarely shows herself to mortals, being more reclusive and drawn back. Few villagers are aware of the strange rune in the cave near the Railroads leading to her Swamp, and even if any dared to enter they'd be chased away quickly.
Kallamar
Kallamar resides in a deep ocean cave near shore. He frequently exits his domain to pass as mortal and help the villagers around town, usually dealing with illness and disease. He does not disclose his godly status though and villagers are under the assumption he's the doctor from the next village, coming into the valley ever so often to help patients.
Shamura
Shamura is the museum curator, at least that’s what it seems like. Them being the oldest they are very skilled at passing as a mortal with little to no flaw. Despite this they avoid the outdoors and don’t attend any holidays or town gatherings so as to not slip up in their disguise.
Their origin is unknown, but some suspect them to come from a faraway island.

Once Upon a Midnight Stroll
Forneus x Narinder ship fic
[quick context: in my AU, Forneus was made immortal in one of Narinder's resurrection experiments. Narinder also unknowingly fathered the twins just before his imprisonment, only learning the truth recently.]
Narinder walked the outskirts of the cult grounds, enjoying the quiet that night brought with it. The lamb’s followers were always a bother to him. Pestering him with questions or making comments when they think they are out of hearing range. At least they were allowed to wander alone freely. Though tonight, their mind was anything but quiet. The immortal priestess, Forneus, had seen fit to mention the time the two laid together. It was a lifetime ago, a footnote in the story of his godhood, but enough to embarrass him in front of his usurper. The indignity of her to speak of the night so casually.
“Enjoying your evening walk, my lord?” Narinder looked up to find they had come across Forneus’ cart, with her sitting beside it. They had stopped by the cult grounds for one of lamb’s ridiculous holy days. Why they had not left yet was beyond them. “I was. But now, I would like to return to isolation.” Narinder turned around to leave, not wanting to speak with his former follower.
“Do you hate me?” Narinder stopped, looking back at Forneus as she pawed the grass at her lap. “I’m sure you consider me a traitor, being so friendly to the lamb. But while they may have stolen your crown, they have given me so much to be grateful for.” She stopped and looked over her shoulder at the cart, where Baal and Aym no doubt slept. “My kits have returned to me, and I have had the blessing of your presence again. All thanks to them.”
Narinder stared at the cart for a second. They had never considered Forneus a true traitor, but just simple minded. Or maybe insane. That instead of turning their back on him, their loyalty had simply transferred with the crown. That they cared not who was the lord of death, only that there was one. “…it matters little. The crown is outside of my reach anyways. Even if you were willing to help. So, you abandoning your loyalty to me is of no consequence.”
Forneus looked hurt at his words. “Abandon you? You misunderstand.” Forneus got to her feet and walked to her lord, stopping inches from him, causing Narinder to step back. “My lord, I could never turn on you. While I am grateful to the lamb for all they have done to me, my heart will always belong to you.” Forneus pulled his paw out between her own. “I love you, my dear Nari. Always have. Always will.”
Narinder stared, his mind spinning in circles. She was just a priestess. Never even earned the rank of disciple. Yet she was the only one he allowed to butcher his name in such a way. She was nothing. Just a mortal. And yet…he can still remember every detail of that night. Why? Why that of all things? He cannot remember his last ritual with his siblings, or what Heket’s favorite food was.
But he can still feel the gentleness of Forneus’ paw on his nose as they rested in each other’s arms. Hear the love in her voice when she first called him by that pet name. The same love she speaks with now.
Narinder realizes he has been staring for some time and yanks back his paw. He turned his back on Forneus, partly to hide his embarrassment. His ability to hide emotion has gotten rusty. “We had but one night together. One of little importance. I am surprised you even bothered to remember, given you likely have had more…experienced partners since then.”
Forneus giggled heartily. “Ah, yes. Looking back, it is obvious we were both new to such an experience…but how could I forget such an important night? Why, I remember it every time I look at our kits.” Narinder straightened up, his fur on end. Surely, he had simply misheard the woman. He turned, intending to ask a repeat of her words. Before he could speak, a paw cupped his face. Forneus smiled, eyes tearing up. “I meant to tell you all those centuries ago, but I never got the chance. I am just happy you three got to know and spend time with each other. Even if it meant I had to wait so long to see the boys again.”
Narinder pulled away from her. He could not believe it. Baal and Aym? His children? No. Demigods should not be possible. It isn’t possible. “No… it’s not possible. How could a mortal- How could I-…Shamura said-”
“Shamura was also the first to figure it out.” Forneus spoke up, their tone reassuring to try and calm the panicked god. “That's why they sent them to you. You always were their favorite. Even mortals could tell. If any of your other siblings had gotten to us first…” She trailed off, her face falling as she imagined the worst. “…the rest found out eventually. Heket sent troops to bring me in. Demanded the children. They didn’t believe me at first, when I said Shamura had already taken them. Tried to force the answer she wanted out of me.” Forneus held herself tightly, trying and failing to hold back tears. Even with time, not all memories had faded. And not all that stuck around were pleasant. Narinder tried to think of something to say to comfort her but failed to find the words. Instead, he simply pulled her into his embrace, letting her cry on his shoulder.
Eventually she pulled herself off him, wiping her remaining tears away. “A-apologies, my lord. I-” Narinder raised a hand to quiet her. “There is no need to apologize. I know how ruthless my sister can be. It is not surprising she would not believe you.” If anything, Heket should be the one to apologize, Narinder thought. He will have to bring this up with his sister later.
Forneus managed to calm herself somewhat, but still avoided meeting her beloved’s gaze. “It’s not just that. I should have told you about the boys. About our sons…but I feared you would react poorly. By the time I decided you should know…it was too late to get an audience.” Forneus returned to sitting by her cart, patting the ground for Narinder to join her. He considered walking away, but figured the lamb would scold him if he didn’t. So, he sat next to her, leaving a space between them for his own comfort and to not get roped into a hug before he could escape.
Forneus looked off across the grounds, eyes unfocused, lost in thought. “Do you remember that age, my lord? Back when I was mortal, and you were divine?” she smiled, looking towards Narinder for a response. His ear twitched with mild annoyance, unsure why he was still humoring her. “I remember little of that time. I know you were zealous in your worship. Climbed the ranks of the priesthood quickly. But little else.” Forneus smiled at her god’s recognition. She reached out for his paw but stopped when Narinder shifted away.
“Twas never simply zeal, my lord. I wished to be by your side. If not as a consort, then as a disciple. The closer, the better.” She chuckled, “And somehow, I got what I wanted. And more. Two little kittens. My sun and moon...” Forneus reached up with her paw, placing the back of it to the cart. She looked over at Narinder with a smile. A smile that faded when she saw Narinder standing. “I think I shall be returning to bed. Goodnight, Forneus.”  Narinder attempted to leave, the conversation having stirred a cocktail of emotions in him. Guilt and hatred. Remorse and pain. Nostalgia and regret. He needed to distance himself for the outgoing mother. From these painful memories he would rather not remember.
“My lord?” Narinder grumbled to himself and looked over his shoulder at the approaching cat. She wrung her fingers as she spoke. “If I may…well, I…” She looked back at the cart, then back to him. “Well, it’s rather cramped in my cart with the boys around and it would be a shame to wake them... Would you mind if I spent the night in your hut? I would be no trouble, honest.” Narinder may not be able to read minds, but the cat's intent was clear. Despite the thousand years apart, her desire to be beside him remained. His mind fought itself trying to decide. His emotions drowning his reason. He did not want to remember the past…but like her, he could never fully forget that night. He had never slept better, before or since.
Narinder turned his head, his back to Forneus. “…very well. But my hut is not built for two. I will not apologize if it is still cramped.” With that, he made his way back to his hut by the temple, hearing the familiar purrs of his lover behind him.
As they enter the residential area, he gave a silent prayer that his siblings don’t learn of what he is doing. Leshy would tease him endlessly over it, despite clearly favoring another cat in the cult. Heket would be disappointed in him being won over so easily by a traitor, but at least she would be easy to ignore with the loss of her voice. Kallamar, ever the romantic, would probably try to give him dating advice. Not that he ever went on a proper date. All his mates were sworn high priests before they even got their chance to impress him. And Shamura-
“Brother, you are being followed.” Narinder stopped in his tracks, fear putting his hairs on end as he recognized the voice off to his side. Seems his prayer was ignored. Narinder took a breath to compose himself before addressing his sibling. “I am aware of Forneus, Shamura. They are no treat. What are you doing up so late?” Shamura stepped out from their shared hut’s doorway. “You are not the only one who prefers the quiet of twilight.” Shamura faced Forneus and bowed slightly. “Lady Forneus, a pleasure as always.” Forneus chuckled. “Please, Shamura, no need to be so formal!” Shamura smiled slightly, looking from one cat to another. “I assume I am interrupting something then. I shall leave you two be. take good care of Narinder for me, Miss Forneus.” Shamura turned to re enter their hut.
“I- Come now, Shamura, do not misunderstand this. She simply didn’t want me wandering alone is all. I couldn’t convince her otherwise.” Narinder tried to recover the situation, knowing full well the others would find out if he didn’t. Shamura looked over their shoulder with a smile, their eyes barely visible in the shadows. “Come now, Brother. I know this isn’t the first time you two have been together…I’m happy you found someone.” Shamura disappeared inside without another word. Narinder stared, growly softly as their eyes burned a hole in Shamura’s hut. He didn’t notice Forneus until she wrapped her arms around his. “My lord, am I really that unworthy, even now, that you would deny me?” Her words were heavy, but her tone was light and teasing. “Should I just…leave?” Narinder sighed in defeat, his humiliation by his family inevitable. He pulled his paw out from her grasp and returned both of his to his sleeves. Forneus looked hurt for a moment, before she felt Narinder’s tail intertwine with hers. “…I’d prefer not to have you hanging off me, if you don’t mind. Now, let us head for bed. It will be morning soon.” Narinder waited for Forneus to nod in acknowledgement before continuing the walk to his hut.
As they walked, Narinder silently daydreamed of his time as a bishop. To be walking through the corridors of his grand palace, with Forneus at his side as a disciple. Followers bowing as they pass. The twins growing up in luxury instead of the gateway.
He couldn’t help but smile at the thought.

Hi again! I really enjoyed what you did with the Heket x Male Reader one I asked you and was wondering if you could do the same with Kallamar? I would like for the reader to find pretty gems for Kallamar to make him feel loved or wanted. My silly squid man needs more love!
(I also headcanon Kallamar as transmasc but you don't have to follow that hc in this if you don't want to.)
Kallamar Scenario
𑁍 Featuring 𑁍 ♡ Romantic Relationship w/ Kallamar ✦ Male Follower Reader ✦ Sea Otter Follower Reader ⋆ Takes place post-game ⋆ CONTAINS POST-GAME SPOILERS ✦ I am still forming my own headcanons for characters- but I will use this headcanon for this work :> ✦✦ Warnings: Swears, Impiled self-harming behaviour ✦ Sorry if it's not what you wanted I wrote it in one go after i got motivated
|⌨|Stressful Price for Love|⌨|
Reader was pacing back and forth in his tent, stress and fear gnawing at his chest. Oh, he fucking hated feeling so exposed and nervous. He had asked the leader if he could go on a trip to Anchordeep recently and was waiting for them to return to grant him their blessing. He had been waiting for a week and his nerves had only gotten worse by the second. His fur had patches where he had overgroomed himself to the point there were claw marks on his arms and such. He forgot the last time he actually slept or left his tent without instantly getting aggressive. Kallamar had tried to interact with him a couple of times by now and would end up snapping at the ex-bishop every time. He hated his behavior towards Kallamar... he just hoped the leader got home soon.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ When The Lamb returned, Reader instantly left after getting their blessing and a new necklace. He refused to spend another day in his tent, stressed out and panicking. He needed to get this over with before he ended up driving himself mad. He got bruised up a bit while in Anchordeep but he found a couple rocks and gemstones that he felt like Kallmar would like. He went through Anchordeep a couple times, encountering Forneus some time into his third trip for some more gems. The cat had stopped him, helping him patch up and leaving him some parting words before he left for the next room...
"You need listen only to your heart, for there lie your truest desires!"
He just forced a smile and nodded before he kept going farther through the biome. When he returned four days later, he had a large amount of gems and even some seaweed. He got to work on making his gift for Kallamar for his confession... he had spent almost months stressing over the event and now it was time to admit his feelings for the nervous squid. He made the crystals into a small bouquet using the seaweed and had gained permission from the leader to set up a small gem garden a bit off the set bounds of the cult grounds.
He could have planned it out better, Reader would admit later, since he did scare the living daylights out of Kallamar by suddenly dragging him into the forest. But he couldn't wait to get this whole thing over with so if he got rejected he would have a chance to deal with it.
"... Kallamar... I'll be blunt I guess... the reason I've been so odd was because... I've developed a crush on you- um..."
Kallamar had broken after hearing the confession and passed out. Not giving Reader a chance to even show him the gift. When he came through, he had admitted to sharing feelings and awkwardly grabbed Reader's hand. He also loved the gift and ended up hugging Reader tightly.
