I made a new account bc my steam one has some really annoying limitations, but I was pretty deep in the main story and didn't do much Elysian Realm so I decided to actually do that properly this time. Insane place and Mei is taking no shit, I love it.

I started working on HI3 Retold, and I really went into it thinking "yeah, I can get chapter 1 done today. It'll be a breeze!"

Im not getting done with chapter 1 today.

I have barely started. I severely underestimated just how much I would have to write to catch all the details. Add on that CG's wont play for me in the story so I have to exit all the way out and then go back to the stage and its just a hassle.

But I have started it!'

I am giving myself to next weekend to finish up chapter 1 at least (hopefully more). I wont burn myself out on this.

Reminder that I will only post these chapters once the whole arc is finished. The first arc, the Herrscher of Wind arc, is going to be chapter 1 to chapter 4.

I am incredibly open to suggestions regarding this retelling of HI3. (more below. I do kinda end up ranting towards the end tho)

It'll mainly be for the game itself, and I want to follow the same plot points as the game. Wendy is the Herrscher of the Wind, yes, Final Lesson is going to happen, as will Lament of the Fallen, so on and so on.

What I aim to change is details and add more context to certain things. (Maybe add entire new -EX chapters. 17-EX is looking extremely likely at the moment)

But things like fixing the nonsensical airship in chapter 1. You want to tell me that Ein and Tesla sent that thing crashing towards a city, hoping Kiana would be sent to stop it, to cryptically hint to her about her previous life as Sirin with the Gems, in a longshot plan to make her the Final Herrscher, which neither Ein or Tesla EVER mentions or acts upon? Yeah, no. That's nonsensical.

Stuff like that, stuff like Mei joining World Serpent meaning nothing (exagurating a bit there) except that she hangs out with Raven for a while and she actually just ends up murdering a group of people and the story never brings it up ever again that Mei has murdered humans in cold blood. Some pacing issues like the Herrscher of Dominance being "defeated" in the middle of a chapter. Cmon, at least place that at the end of the chapter.

I'll probably also make chapters 5 and 6 mirror more closely to the actual manga events though.

But this also means that some chapters will be relatively unchanged, if not completely untouched.

I mainly just want to have an excuse to replay the game, and shore up some of the rough edges of the story while Im at it.

And Lambda will never make an apperance. I dont care what arguments I hear about her inclusion. She is a Deus Ex Machina for the devs to get out of jail free card themselves out of the bullshit they caused with New Project Stigma.

Speaking of! Do you want the Moon Arc to not be a philosophical loredump of a shitshow? Well you've come to the right place! As I said, Im open to suggestions, and the Moon Arc has a lot of issues.

Hoyo took my Kevin expy away from me....so I'm going back to hi3 :

The strongest human warrior, he who held and keeps holding the whole burden of saving the world...I recently saw some players treat him the same way he gets treated by world serpent and the ppl of the hi3 world, hailing him as the absolute leader who'll do whatever it takes, he is all mighty and knowing, he shall bring light to this world and free everyone, if Kevin is there then everything will be fine...

but Kevin was just a normal guy without any lifelong dreams or future plan, just a guy who enjoyed his everyday life with his friends and girlfriend, no deep resolve or absolute commitment, he was just 'kevin', nothing too extraordinary. Until the world forced him into the spotlight.

In the face of adversity it was Kevin that strengthened his resolve and went to slash all of his obstacles till he became numb, he couldn't even grief and cry because of his surgery, he asks mei if she ever dreamt of those she killed and those that died because of her, and his answer was not anymore, evidently Kevin could only move forward, there was no time to greif or feel sorrow, that moment he HAD to symbolize hope, because he knew ppl wouldn't continue without it...but what Abt him? Id like to think that Kevin only kept pushing forward for an ending, even after 50000 years, even after a new era begun, he still held on to the world serpent plans, never letting go, it wasn't Abt his own hope and expectations, he was just continuing a legacy from a previous era, he was driven by duty, not a grand idealism, he has always been a realistic hero. Elysia told him that because they saved the world, heros are hailed as such, yet Kevin tells her that they must become heros, this world is beyond saving, they have no other choice

You can clearly tell the difference between Kevin and Kiana, Kiana is still invigorated by hope, she still holds on that humanity can reverse everything, and that she'll continue to fight with no sacrifices for the greater good, but Kevin isn't that way, he no long feel sadness over death, he doesn't mind sacrifice, honkai can't be defeated so he'll choose the next best option, because humanity would ultimately vanish.

Kevin has been entirely devoted to his cause, That's why I was entirely in awe when I saw myrid Celestia's trailer, a Kevin that hasn't even been through the 50000, has lost all hope, there's no tomorrow, no salvation, even tho he took on the blade of the end, he believed that this world (Izumo) is already doomed

Let’s talk about how HI3 made us all believe that Elysia was suspicious, an enemy, and probably someone who hid too many secrets behind that sweet smile of hers. I believe it remains one of the saddest yet most intriguing moments of the story because of how we see Elysia present herself. Let me scream about how genuine and kind Elysia is, let me give her some love because she is truly my favorite character in Hon.kai Im.pact.

Let’s also remember what Elysia’s OST is called for 5.1 PV: Sweet Trap. Then we have all of her skill names that are so poetic and concentrate on ‘love.’ The topic of ‘love’ is also very, very prevalent in HI3 (Otto’s love for Kallen, Mei’s and Kiana’s love, Seele and Bronya, Himeko, Fu Hua, Theresa and Cecilia, Cecilia and Siegfried, Kallen and Sakura, St. Freya, etc.). Many have been bamboozled by thinking that Elysia was the enemy or had some shady thoughts about her. How can someone be so open and so genuine in the world of HI3 aside from certain character who we’ve followed for so long? Anyways, everything I say here is my personal opinion. 

Many of us from where we are used to have smiling and seemingly positive characters being shady or hiding away something. There always had to be something wrong with someone who always smiles because there is a saying that goes: “A smile is a powerful weapon. You can even break ice with it.” 

Elysia’s attitude is very different compared to many other characters we’ve met who show likes and dislikes, who show their distrust and such, but here we have Miss Pink Elf who remains smiling and friendly to us as players (and to Mei) from the beginning and continues to be the bubbly person from an era where things went straight to Hell. As the Second in Command, this pink lady makes us question her because we know how Kevin is and how World Serpent is a suspicious organization, so it’s obvious that Elysia has to be someone like that or similar too, right? Well, at least, subconsciously or not many have doubted Elysia’s reason to be so friendly and open to Mei and Captain (on the bridge). She doesn’t show dislike to anyone, she doesn’t get angry, she doesn’t lose her smile, she doesn’t lose sight of beauty in her eyes. To me, if anything, Elysia - just like Kiana in CE - represents the previous Era’s ‘fighting for all that is beautiful in this world.’ 

Elysia’s open nature and her lovely personality seems fake or suspicious at first, it makes you wonder if she tells the truth or if she holds something back, but the more you learn and the more you dive into Chapter 29, the more you understand how genuine she is. The story certainly doesn’t help with the narrative where she is called ‘traitor’ and where characters mention that Elysia cannot be trusted. Not only that, but the amount of secrets or hidden information that Mei has to uncover also makes many question Elysia’s openness. If there is anyone who was true and honest from the very beginning: it was Elysia. 

Aside from her being the Herrscher, there is really nothing shady going on, she is there to guide and she is there to lead. She always jumps first to save Mei (Mobius almost killing Mei in ER, and she was ready to jump to stop Kalpas if not for Aponia’s intervention). This attitude makes Elysia seem  like the most suspicious of all: she is too genuine for everyone’s trust. She is the truth in front of just that we do NOT see because we seek hidden motives behind each thing. This is what Otto’s arc did, this is what all other characters in the story have done: there has to be something hidden beneath a smile. The same goes for Dr. MEI and how she called people in to discuss Elysia’s possibility of being a traitor or an enemy. What did we learn from that from Elysia’s perspective too? She was upset over it. Naturally, because she was always true and honest, but even that does not help with doubts within people’s hearts. And yet, she still loved and loves every single person from Flamechasers with her whole heart. 

Elysia was the heart of the Thirteen, she was the Mother of Flamechasers. 

It is stated in CH.29: Elysia has never told a lie aside from being the 13th Herrscher.  It’s important to remember as of CH.29 as well: Elysia telling SAKURA that Rin is safe was true at the time. She genuinely believed that Rin was safe because it was the soldier inside the facility who shot Rin because they got scared. 

It is proven to us by showing what Elysia represents in Elysian Realm: The Ego/The Real Self/The True Self; it all depends on the translation. She is a person who is more unapologetic with being her true self and wishing to see others being themselves. Her love and adoration for others is true and genuine, but it’s hard to fathom because it seems almost too perfect. How can she be like that? How can she accept Mobius’ human experimentation? How can she refer to others who can be deadly as cute? How can she be like that? There are many questions that can be brought up regarding Elysia’s attitude. However, the answer is far more simpler: she simply can, she simply sees them the way they are and it is how it is. There are no hidden meanings, there are no hidden motives.

Not only that, but we must also bring into Griseo’s talent in seeing the inside of people’s hearts. When you open Griseo’s files in ER, you can see each picture that she draws for each Flamechaser and Mei. Every single person who has met Griseo brought some ‘color’ to her. A ‘color’ is their inner self, their secrets or their innermost hidden emotion. But what did Griseo do with Elysia’s painting? It was pristine, it was empty, it had nothing on it. It is another underlining of the fact that Elysia has never hid anything from anyone else. She has nothing to hide, nothing to stop herself from being the way she is, nothing to doubt or regret or not accept.

What else do we see with Elysia? We are given the ‘truth’ about her from the very beginning when she speaks about the meaning behind her name. In the language of Mu, Elysia means ‘Paradise.’ Elysian Realm follows the Biblical references quite often (Mobius as the snake, Eden being Gardens of Eden, Aponia being the Forbidden Fruit of Knowledge, etc.). We are shown from the very beginning that Elysia is ‘safe’ but many players still doubted her honesty. Paradise is a place of holiness and a place of salvation, but a paradise is too hard to believe in, right? 

In the end, I see Elysia as someone who is so true that it makes others doubt her truthfulness. All because not everyone is so confident in their true self and in their self in general. Not many can allow themselves to show what is happening inside and outside of their mind. It is not often when a person is so honest and so open with themselves and others. I believe that Elysia’s irritation of Mei also comes from the fact that she doesn’t believe Mei is able to ‘accept’ her true, beautiful self that she sees in her. This is why she reaches out for her horns: they are beautiful, they are a part of Mei, they are a part that she may dislike but should also love. She is self-love, she is True Self, she is Ego. Her truth and her honesty have always been here in front of everyone’s eyes, but it takes a courageous heart to accept this truth as well.

just now, I'm at the part in the main story that focuses on fu hua, but I haven't finished it yet, so there's going to be a lack of information, but!! I will try and write down everything that I know!!

so fu hua was once a human born 50 000 years ago in the time period called the previous era. she was very shy and she had trouble making friends. her father ran a dojo and she would practise martial arts from a young age, but everyone around her told her that it's useless and that she should study instead. before she went there, her father got attacked by a zombie and was left injured. he told her not to worry, so she went to study to a different city, that later got attacked by the honkai beasts. she survived because she got rescued by MOTH's squad leader himeko of the previous era. fu hua chose to learn about the truth of what it was that attacked the city (the ordinary people, even in the current era, supposedly don't know about the honkai...)

as far as I'm aware, she joined MOTH (organization) and underwent some sort of treatment that made her immortal

there, she met kevin kaslana, hero of the previous era, and today's sire of the world serpent (organization), and many other people, like dr. MEI (that's all that I know abt this part of her life so far, unfortunately)

she also had these friends called fuxi and nuwa

due to being immortal and having so many memories and identities, she started developing identity disorders, so dr. MEI gave her the divine key fenghuang down (this device with special powers, I suppose?) so she could seal her "unimportant" memories inside of these feathers that it utilises. however, she was delaying the sealing of those memories, because in her words, how would she remember who she was before, and how she got to the point in life where she is?

she's had many titles over the years, like phoenix, empyrea, master jingwei, celestial, etc.

she also established(?) a martial arts school on mount taixuan

500 years ago, she got "killed" by her seven disciples from said martial arts school, but she woke up 20 years after that, and has been affiliated with schicksal (organization with valkyries that fights against the honkai, ran by overseer otto apocalypse) until the schicksal battle

before the schicksal battle, she was a class monitor at st. freya high, a school for valkyries (the main trio, kiana, mei and bronya, went there)

during the battle of schicksal, the herrscher of the void (kiana) awoke due to otto's actions. she tried to intervene but he shot her in the head

however, she managed to put her consciousness into fenghuang down.

she helped kiana control the herrscher inside of her, fought kevin kaslana to buy kiana some time to escape when she got captured and she lost the battle. kevin sealed her(?)

while she was out there by kiana's side, her body, that otto put into a life support pod to heal her, gained its own consciousnes, and thus, senti, who is the herrscher of sentince, was born(?) and she killed otto

that as far into the story as I am rn!! if you have any questions, feel free to ask, or you can check the hi3 wiki for the parts of the story that I don't know about yet and I don't want to spoil myself about

Misc. hi3 headcanons

- Fu hua uses fenghuang down to cheat at poker. It's common for valkyries to play cards while traveling to missions, and oftentimes your reputation in your squadron depends on how well you play. When it comes time to break out the card deck, everyone treats Fu hua like a god... but without her feathers, she's actually pretty terrible at poker. She's got a great poker face, but can't read others' to save her life. It's a secret she'll take to the grave.

- On the contrary, Hua/Sentience uses her powers to shamelessly cheat at EVERYTHING, and everyone's fully aware of it.

- Bronya isn't actually that good at video games - she's good, but not THAT good. The real reason everyone else treats her like a gamer god is that she's just the only person out of all the main characters who knows how to block in fighting games. She refuses to teach anyone except Seele.

- Seele still loses to Bronya every time anyway because she does nothing but stare at Bronya instead of the game while mashing heavy attacks and occasionally throwing out raw supers.

- She kicks Kiana's ass tho.

- After fully becoming the herrscher of thunder, Mei can no longer use smartphones. She short-circuits every single one she touches. She sees her fellow world serpent officers use twitter and gets overwhelmed by horrible pangs of jealousy.

- Before Kiana's herrscher powers awakened, the core implanted into her had been sapping part of her energy for most of her life. This is the real reason why prior to chapter 9 she eats so fucking much.
