Could I request chocobros reaction to their small and cute s/o making them to go to the concert of her favourite band and it turns out to be alternative/hardcore rock band 😁 actually I'm really small and cute so people are often shocked when I show them my music taste (Get Scared, Nothing But Thieves, the Neighbourhood and System of a down are my favourites 😅) so it would make my day ❤
Oh, a request!
I have never done requests, so I really, really, really do hope this is good enough! I’m not a small not sure about cute either person, so I thank @bleucommelhiver for giving me some ideas. :3
Also, I loved changing the band names just enough to fit the FFXV world. Because I love doing that, just for the giggles.
I did my best! Apologies if this isn’t something you expected! *bows and ninja-vanishes into thin air*
Warnings: None? SFW?
Scenario: A Surprising Rock Concert
Noctis
Whenyou asked Noctis to go to a concert with you, he hesitated for amoment. He would have rather lied in his bed with you all day, listening to your favourite songs from his stereo — maybe evensharing a kiss or two, but the cute and begging face you pulled athim made his heart melt instantly.
Obviouslyhe thought that you two would go to an EDM concert, after all youboth had listened to the music back at his apartment and you hadn’tcomplained at all, despite you being a fan of a bit more differentgenre. But as you saw your favourite band coming into town, it wasjust too hard to resist.
Noctiswas ultimately surprised, when he saw the tickets you had booked.
“Systemof a Phoenix Down?” he hadnot expected someone like you to listen a band like that. You seemedso innocent in his eyes to listen something so…hardcore.
“Ihope that’s okay,” you beamed at him, sending his heart flutterand made his cheeks burn mildly.
“Uh,sure it’s just that—” he found himself at a loss for words whenit started.
Hequickly found himself enjoying the music. It was different from whathe usually listened to, but seeing you enjoy the concert as youbounced in the rhythm of the furiously played tune he couldn’t stophimself from joining in on the fun too.
Someone— much taller than you— bumped into you, causing you to almost trip, but Noctis was quickwith his reactions and he stopped you from falling by embracing youinto a tight hug.
“Youowe me one now,” he husked, after parting from the hug just enoughto get a look of your face. Noctis give annoyed side-eyes to the tallperson, who hadn’t obviously noticed you. He still held you tightlyand you batted your lashes curiously at him.
Noctis’sirked expression softened as he saw the confused look on your face,“you owe me a kiss now, how about it?”
Prompto
Promptowas so hyped to go to a concert with you. He even forgot to ask whichband it was you were going to see, while he was engulfed by hisexcitement. And he even had his camera prepared for the event eversince you two made plans for the ‘date.’
Inthe back of his thrilled mind he thought that you were going to seeOne Chocobo, because the band was quite popular and topped the charts with theirattractive love songs. Prompto wouldn’t complain —  what matteredthe most was to have good time with you.
Andoh how the reality hit him hard once you arrived at the concertplace. The place was filled with people wearing so dark and gloomyclothes that it made him shudder. “A-are you sure t-this is theplace?” he stammered, while squeezing your hand. He couldn’tpossibly let you disappear into the masses.
“We’llbe fine! Come!” you encouraged him with a heart-warming wink and hesighed, but complied. After all, who would say no to that sweet lookthat pulled your lips into an inviting smile. You pulled him with youcloser to the stage. Zigzagging through the fans was easy — thanksto your smallness.
However, you never noticed how his hand slipped from yours and Prompto foundhimself lost in the middle of a dozen of scary looking GetPetrified-fans.
Themusic started playing and Prompto felt like his heart was going tojump out of his chest. He couldn’t find you and the people aroundhim started fisting the air and bouncing along the beat. Promptodesperately tried to peer around for you, only to feel a gentle tapon his shoulders.
Heturned around and saw you flashing him an apologetic smile, “I’msorry Prom!” you had to shout for him to be able to hear you overthe music. He looked confused and his eyes were a little bit teary.
“Justdon’t disappear like that,” he mumbled shyly, his cheeks turningrosy pink. His gaze darted on and off you and he bit his lipnervously.
“What?”you had to shout again, as you couldn’t hear his sad mumbles.
Henever answered, as he just pulled you into a hug and buried his faceinto your hair — feeling relaxed again.
Gladiolus
Youpiqued his curiosity, when you showed him the tickets to theCitadel’s concert. He wouldhave guessed that your music taste was just a bit different from hisand was genuinely surprised that you, out of all people, would sharethe taste with him.
Whenit was time for the concert, you found yourself pouting — becauseall the other fans were so tall and you couldn’t possibly get agood view of the band.
“What’swrong, babe?” Gladio asked softly as he saw the tears forming atthe corners of your eyes. You had been waiting to see them for solong… only for the taller people to block your view.
“N-nothing,”you answered meekly, your shoulders slumping from disappointment.
However,it never passed Gladio’s eyes to see someone he cared deeply about,to look so heartbroken all the sudden. He could only guess what wasbothering you so badly.
Withouta word he scooped you up with his arms, and lifted you on top of hisshoulders and you let out a surprised squeal. You could hear and feelthe chuckle he made, making his body vibrate slightly. “Betternow?” he asked and glanced up at you with an amused smirk.
“U-uh!Y-es!” you huffed, while your heart was still pounding madly fromthe surprise.
“Okay, now pull that cute smile back and enjoy,” Gladio winked and gentlypatted your leg.
Andso, he carried you around for the whole evening, while theCitadel pulled the best gigever.
Ignis
Afteryou had told him that there was a band in town, that you had alwayswanted to see, Ignis almost instantly assumed it to be one of thoseboy bands — or maybe a twerking pop artist that was gainingattention with delicious gossips.
“Alright,I shall come with you. Someone should make sure you’re safeanyway,” Ignis volunteered to keep you some company for theevening, despite that neither of his assumptions wasn’t somethinghe enjoyed.
Ignishad never been so surprised as he was, when you two walked into theconcert place.
Heblinked his eyes and clenched his jaws. NothingBut Tonberries was going toplay that day and he had never heard of the band. Ignis had no ideawhat to expect and as you dragged him towards the stage, his worrygrew deeper at every step.
Peoplewere dressed up for a rockconcert.
Ignisswallowed.
“Everythingokay?” you bit your lip as you saw his cheeks turn pale.
“Myapologies, but what kind of music this… NothingBut Tonberries play?” hequestioned, while his eyes scouted the area. People seemed to havegood time already, but still he pulled you a bit closer to his body.Just incase something might happen.
“It’srock,” you chimed cheerfully at him and you could hear the tinygasp escaping his lips. You furrowed your brows as his lips pursedeven tighter. “What? Did you expect that this was OneChocobo concert?”
“Whywould I…” he breathed and caught you giving him a cute butmischievous grin, that sparkled your eyes in the dim lighting. “Ishould’ve done a better research on the concerts in town,” hebroke into a sorry smile, his cheeks flushing mildly red.
“It’sfine Iggy,” you giggled and jumped up to give a peck on his cheek, making him even more flustered, “we can go to a concert you likethe next time.”

blog entry #4 -- astoria & m a n i a
i don’t know if every music lover remembers the first band or artist they really loved - and i don’t mean “loved” like genuinely appreciated their music or related to their lyrics or anything; i mean cringey, young fangirl/fanboy, major-crush-on-at-least-one-member-of-the-band “loved”. i feel like for those who remember that time, they either still love the band to pieces or look back on those days with horror and wonder how the hell they chose that band to obsess over. thankfully for me, it’s the former - my first major fangirl band was marianas trench, a relatively well-known pop punk and symphonic rock band (and now with some cool 80s pop-funk influences) from vancouver, canada.
when i was about eleven or twelve, i discovered their song “cross my heart”, and immediately fell in love. i was never into taylor swift, katy perry, or any of the major pop artists of that time, and as a young guitar player myself, marianas trench’s guitar-driven, punk rock sound twisted into pop tracks through catchy drumbeats and radio music harmonies instantly appealed to me. bit by bit, i discovered more of their tracks, notably from their album “masterpiece theatre”, as that was the one out at the time. “ever after”, their third studio album, came out right as my fangirl obsession really began.
spotify and similar apps not really existing at the time, i had to be careful with my money, and my parents really monitored the music i purchased, and so i played it safe and only bought my three favourite tracks on itunes, not wanting to accidentally waste any money; “cross my heart”, “all to myself”, and “celebrity status”, all from “masterpiece theatre”. to discover more of their music, i remember typing their name into the youtube search bar, and then trying every single letter of the alphabet afterwards to find a song title that i hadn’t seen before - i actually discovered a lot of music like that, not just from marianas trench.
anyways, as i became more obsessed, i started watching interviews, acoustic or live versions of songs, and funny clips and music video bloopers all over youtube, and i have to say; for my age and maturity level at the time, i could not have found a better “introductory” band into the vast world of bands and fangirling. marianas trench were funny but never obscenely rude, they were largely unproblematic and drama-free within the music world, their music evolved towards a more pop-funk and symphonic sound but they never forgot their pop punk and rock roots, and their lyrics were always intriguing but not too dark (with the exception of their first album “fix me” and the occasional tracks on the other three albums). all of these things are still 100% true about them. bottom line, they were an awesome band for me to discover at the time, and are still what i’d describe as a model band to this day. they’ve always been so good.
what i really wanted to say (after this unnecessarily long intro) is that musically, they are still an excellent band nowadays. as a huge fan of their first three albums (especially “masterpiece theatre”, when their symphonic rock drift began - i loved the big productions and mash-ups), i didn’t pay much mind to their fourth album “astoria”. i heard of its release and listened to the first single that was put out beforehand, which was “here’s to all the zeroes” (which they actually didn’t even end up putting on the album since it didn’t fit with the vibe of it), and i really didn’t like it - i felt like it was a bit too pop and losing the originality for which i loved them. i had always loved that they stuck true to who they were and didn’t try to change themselves to get more listeners outside of canada.
so, when they released that song, i felt like they might lose themselves in the world of common radio pop, so i didn’t look into “astoria” at all when it came out. but yesterday, as i was feeling low and looking to listen to some of their older, darker tracks, i saw the “astoria” album cover go by on my phone, and i guess i just thought “yeah why not?”. the first track immediately caught my interest, as it reminded me of the “masterpiece theatre i, ii & iii” tracks from their second album, as well as “ever after” and “no place like home” from their third album (these were often longer than the other songs, and incorporated lyrics for all of the songs from the album within a huge, dramatic, overproduced track - if you’ve taken a peak at my favourite albums, many of them are alternative, unique, and deliberately overproduced records, which i love and almost always have).
all this to say - the rest of the album was awesome. i was very impressed with the filler tracks as well as the final song “end of an era”, among all the other great songs. original lyrics, great emotion, good guitar, and unique, typical trench vocal and string arrangements - essentially, everything that a long-time, dedicated marianas trench fan could ask for.
apart from the fact that i needed to rant somewhere about and emphasize how good “astoria” and marianas trench are, i also wanted to say this: trust the bands you love. you started loving them for a reason; because they made good music time after time. even if their style changed, if they lost a member, disbanded for a while, or switched genres completely, you will be able to find that thing that drew you to them initially in all of their music, i promise. you just need to come in with an open mind.
good fans don’t have to like everything that their favourite artists or bands make, but in my opinion, good fans can not only root for the band’s changes and support their road to self-discovery as artists by not hating on them and asking for the “old them” back, but can also come to identify the reasons for which they loved the band initially and find these aspects in all of their music. for example, at the core, i was drawn to marianas trench because of josh ramsay’s unique voice, the band’s song arrangements and harmonies, poppy guitar riffs and drum beats, originality, and the fact that they are a canadian band - ultimately, all of this can be found in anything that marianas trench has ever released, even the songs that aren’t as popular among the fans. i guess this is supposed to be some kind of optimistic view on band evolution… i don’t know to be honest.
i think i also kind of wrote this in connection to fall out boy’s “m a n i a” album coming out in less than two weeks. a lot of longtime fans are worried that this one is going to be very different (too different) from other things that the band has made, and i guess they’re worried that they won’t like it or something.
i understand. in all honesty, i’m always worried that i won’t like an album when one of my favourite bands releases it - fuck, i was equally excited as i was terrified when imagine dragons released “evolve”. but i trusted them to make good music no matter what, and though the album was different from “night visions” and “smoke + mirrors”, how could i expect it not to be? and yet, it was absolutely incredible nonetheless.
hence, i’m really going to try and adopt an optimistic attitude for “m a n i a”, because i trust fall out boy. they have proven time and time again (and despite a five year break) that they can produce incredible music. yes, it will be different. maybe it’ll drift away from “american beauty/american psycho” and back towards some of their older things - maybe it won’t. maybe it will be something totally different, which is kind of what i’m hoping for. the songs released so far seem to be drifting towards a bit of an alternative pop and even edm inspired direction in the case of “young & menace” (which would be a dream come true for an alternative music lover like me), but hey, we’ll see. i trust fall out boy.
either way, i sure as hell won’t keep myself from listening to “m a n i a” for two years like i did marianas trench’s “astoria”, because as i’ve seen, i’d likely miss out big time. so sorry about this long ass post on your dash by the way (i get a little carried away sometimes yikes i’m sorry, i love talking about music way too much).

Maybe it was because of the stuffy, humid heat produced by the horde of inebriated college students or the pulsating, pounding sounds of EDM blaring through speakers, but regardless of whatever it was, one thing was for sure:
Parties were the bane of his existence.
He was okay with hanging out with familiar, old faces or heading somewhere with a very small group of people. Never was he one for meeting a sea of strangers, grinding up against someone else, drinking to the point beyond being shit-faced, and so on.
At least he had Bill, though.
The brunet turned his gaze from the shifting and squirming mass of people who were all dancing and packed in the other part of the room like sardines in a tin to the young man sitting beside him. The two were watching the crowd from the sidelines, idly seated on a nearby couch. The fingers of the blond’s right hand were laced and entwined with Dipper’s left while the ones of the guy’s free hand were restlessly drumming against a fairly shabby, stained armrest to the beat of the music.
Bill wanted to party and dance like the others, that much was obvious.
The young, sleep-deprived adult stared at the remainder of the swishing and sloshing liquid held by the obligatory red solo cup in his hand. He drew his lips into a thin line, contemplating something before letting an almost inaudible sigh as he forced a faint smile.
Times like these were when he’d truly realized how different they and their worlds really were.
“Y’know,” he started, catching Cipher’s attention, “you can go out there too if you want. You don’t need to force yourself to stay with me.”
Cobalt eyes widened, similar to those of a preteen found reading his father’s porn mags. The action was so short-lived that he would’ve missed it had he blinked.
The affable first-year was quick—but not quick enough—to conceal his blunder that screamed, “I’ve been caught!” by quirking his lips and slinging an arm over the shoulders of the boy beside him.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, kid.”
“You look really bored,” Dipper countered.
“Geez, Pine Tree! I think you need more glasses or something since I clearly can’t see what you’re—”
“You really shouldn’t lie to your seniors, Billy Boy, especially if they’re your psychology study buddy.”
In reaction to the interruption accompanied with a smug, knowing look, the taller male looked away, uncharacteristically flustered as he grumbled something along the lines of “stupid smart guy”.
The shorter young adult let out an amused, good-natured sigh.
A serene though brief quiet passed between the couple as they listened to the thrumming beats of the song that was currently playing and the drunken shouting of their fellow peers. The introverted Pines twin was the one to break it.
“You can go if you want to. I don’t mind.”
“But you would mind joining me, right? Plus I’ll be leaving my poor, little tree all alone!” the blond dramatically cried out that last part. He threw an arm against over his eyes—well, eye—swooning like some damsel in distress as he swung his legs back and forth, kicking the air while flopping back into the cushions of the sofa.
Mason smirked at his antics and singsonged, “Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t mind watching you.”
Bronzed cheeks gave away a faint blush. Another tranquil and momentary silence transpired. This time Bill broke it.
“You sure about this, Pine Tree?”
“Absolutely.”
“Really, really sure?”
“Positively.”
“Really, really, really—”
The brunet stopped the probably never-ending river of what would essentially be the same, pointless question rephrased over and over again by turning to face the man, swiftly grabbing and tugging down on the other’s collar until their faces were a mere breath apart.
“Bill, just shut up and go dance. I want to see if my boyfriend can actually pull off the legendary moves he’s been claiming to be capable of for the past few days.”
Said boyfriend smiled mirthfully, genuinely and with a noticeable hint of guilt, arctic-blue irises softening fondly at the playful challenge.
Dipper wasn’t prepared for such an uncommon expression to cross his love’s visage. Nor was he prepared for a fleeting but warm and comforting peck against the tresses curtaining his constellatory birthmark from the younger.
“I promise I’ll make this up to you, sapling,” the smitten beaut whispered fondly. The guy’s smirk grew wider at the sight of a rosy flush blooming across the pillow-soft cheeks to the originally pale-tipped ears of a certain mystery-loving lad.
“Yeah, yeah,” the second-year mumbled, shooing the other away as he bit the insides of his cheeks and turned his florid mess of a face away from the other’s gaze. “Now go have some fun.”
And with that, the Pines boy watched his eccentric other half walk away, content though somewhat forlorn…
…only for the sapphire-eyed man to come back not even five minutes after his departure, deciding to return just in order to literally carry his unwilling, bibliophilic significant other with him as he dove back into the dense flock of college students.
After weaving and struggling their way through several waves of mainly inebriated people, they eventually reached an oh-so-very marginally less busy area near one of the sides of the room. Throughout their ephemeral but still rather arduous and tedious journey, the (much) smaller male was fruitlessly kicking and releasing shouts and protests that went unheard by both Bill and the surrounding students. To the freshman, it was honestly like carrying an adorably irked, drowsy kitten.
When he finally decided to gently put the thrashing nerd in his arms down, he received a punch to the shoulder and an aggravated sigh.
“You’re such an ass!” Dipper exclaimed. The blond gave him a faux sheepish grin.
“What can I say? I started missing and worrying about my favorite tree!”
The brunet attempted to force down the redness that threatened to creep up his cheeks and threw his hands up in the air in exasperation.
“What happened to the ‘I promise I’ll make this up to you’!? You’re serio—”
The first-year abruptly cut him off by placing a finger on his sapling’s plush lips. “Shh! Just dance with me.”
His lover sputtered, flustered before a sudden anxiousness and nervousness seeped in after realizing where they currently were.
The sophomore was beginning to panic, starting to feel like everyone was staring at him—even when they actually weren’t—with scornful looks that stabbed through his body, leaving it a porous, gory carcass. It wasn’t as if he wasn’t used to this, however, due to the numerous groups of girls and guys lusting after his popular boyfriend. Thankfully, though the other was deranged and unpredictable, he was always the first to notice and the first to be there to reassure and console him all those other times, so what made this time any different?
“Bill, I-I told you! I r-really don’t like crowds an-and I’m really bad at-at dancing and I really don’t want to—!”
He was cut off again, this time by the dark-skinned man looping an arm around his waist, partially and effortlessly dipping him while being mindful of the bustling people around them and the lack of space they gave. The taller male titled his Pine Tree’s chin slightly upwards, forcing gingerbread-brown eyes as wide as dinner plates to meet relaxed and confident blue ones.
“Focus on me, kid, just me.”
Dipper didn’t bother trying to bite back a soft smile.
The duo danced the night away afterwards—or, well, at least until Bill began getting more “aggressive” in their dance which inevitably led to the two of them retiring early for the evening because of certain very recently-planned activities they had much, much later that night (and yes, these activities did drag out to the ungodly hours of the morning).
A few people around them had realized just how heated their dancing was becoming. It’s not like it mattered to either party, though. Many others in the room were doing the same, so the couple forgot about the world around them during their dance.
The day after, while in bed and being securely wrapped in the safety of his partner’s arms, Dipper supposed that parties aren’t all that bad, so long as he’s with Bill.
