So Wednesday gets to hear he didn’t buy her “sweet” act, he knew the note was fake and it played into the plan and he did it all intentionally, what a freaking manipulative jerk!

Milestone Celebration

So, turns out I'm about to have over half a million words posted on ao3 (not counting anything I've got floating around anywhere else on the internet, more recently or from forever ago). I know that's not a huge deal for some people (especially over a whole decade), but it's pretty cool to me.

In honor of that, plus my most prolific writing year on record (no really I've never written this much creative work in one year, this consistently), I'm doing a little prompt/request event. So feel free to send something in (some kind of prompt or an actual specific request), if there's something you think you'd like, and we'll see where it goes!

There's really not much I absolutely won't write, so in the interest of having the loosest, lowest-effort parameters possible, the only request is this: if it's a fandom you see I've written for before (like it's on my ao3 works page), then that fandom is fair game. No preferences other than that. (And I will give anything an honest shot, though it may take me some time and I can't absolutely promise results.)

I've seen other people do stuff like this before, and it looks like fun, so I figured I'd give it a shot. No pressure. (I'm very shy and I very rarely come up with prompts on demand, so I get it.)

im ngl i just think kub0ka1 is so overrated 🧍🏻‍♀️ theyre the most popular ship in this fandom but i personally dont think they work as a monogamous relationship.. neither of them are getting what they actually need from a relationship with just each other imo, so even if they did date it wouldnt last

yakumo lets some of his serpentine features peek through in front of quincy one day by complete accident. usually he would recognize the excess of essence coursing through his veins, but he’s far too distracted by the way quincy is standing so close to him, checking him for injuries.

“i-i’m alright, mr. quincy.. thank you.” just a moment ago, the two of them had encountered a group of starving beasts. usually the animals in the forest know better than to try and attack quincy, but hunger was clearly clouding their senses. the forest guardian easily took care of most of them, but a few of them had the element of surprise on their side, forcing yakumo to tap into his serpent powers to protect himself.

quincy hums, confirming for himself that yakumo had indeed escaped the encounter unharmed. he leans back slightly, eyes tracing over the serpent’s face one last time, before he pauses and his own face scrunches up in confusion.

“u-um..” before yakumo can speak, quincy is brushing his bangs away from his forehead, always so unexpectedly gentle for such a large man.

“have your eyes always been this bright?”

yakumo blinks, not expecting the question, before an intense feeling of shame washes over him. he must have let his serpentine features show when he tapped into his yokai powers, and forgotten to transform back.

“oh gosh, i-i’m so sorry! p-please don’t look at me, i-i’ll change back in a secon-” in his frantic, instinctive need to apologize for appearing so unsightly, he almost missed what quincy mutters under his breath.

“..pretty.”

that makes yakumo freeze completely. he’s hardly been called pretty, especially not when he looks.. like this. his thoughts are coming and going so rapidly, he almost can’t pinpoint a specific one. until his mind settles on one crushingly negative thought that’s louder than all the others, and he feels his heart sink.

“p-please don’t.. tease me like that, mr. quincy..” the way he’s far too aware of the space his now visible fangs take up as he says this makes yakumo tear up. he desperately wishes a hole would suddenly appear and devour him, saving him from this terrible situation. quincy has to be joking, that’s the only logical explanation he can come up with. there’s no other way, nothing else that makes sense. how could quincy say anything positive about him when he looks so.. strange? so different? so unsightly? so-

“i wasn’t teasing. you’re pretty.”

a few tears must have slipped out unbeknownst to yakumo, as he feels quincy cup his cheek and gently thumb away the wetness under his eye. the serpent braves taking a look at the man still towering over him, searching for any reason to doubt his words, but all he’s able to see is the sincerity written all over quincy’s face.

yakumo’s blushed many, many times in his life, but he doesn’t think he’s ever blushed this hard. his heartbeat is so loud in his ears he’s convinced quincy can hear it too. if he was flustered before, by quincy nearly standing close to him, he’s barely functional now.

yakumo finds it impossible to look at quincy another second, the fondness in his eyes almost palpable. he settles for ducking his head and staring a hole in the ground, the hand still present on his cheek providing protection as much as it reminds him of the current situation. quincy has to be able to feel how hot his cheek is, but he just keeps rubbing, thumb reaching out to catch tears that streak down his face for an entirely different reason.

quincy thinks he’s pretty. quincy thinks he’s pretty. even with his slit pupils and unnaturally bright eyes, quincy doesn’t think he’s repulsive but rather.. the opposite?

yakumo doesn’t think he’s ever felt this giddy, energy rushing through him with each frantic beat of his heart. normally, he would wonder if someone like him was allowed to feel such happiness. but for the first time, he simply basks in the wonderful feeling of being loved and accepted, even despite his ‘flaws’.
