"When Reputation arrived in 2017, the media was neck-deep in an exhausting thinkpiece war about what Taylor Swift meant to pop culture – and Twitter was aflame debating whether she was a saint or a snake. Realizing she could no longer choose to be excluded from these narratives, Swift did the next best thing: She owned them."

Okay so here it is.
Evermore is a reflection of reputation. Obviously not in every single track (like champagne prob and tolerate it for example).
Evermore shows the same thoughts/feelings/fears that reputation does but this is after she’s gotten past them?
In reputation it’s all current and it’s angry and bombastic, but it’s secretly a love story under it all. But she’s actively worrying, actively angry and wounded and lashing out and taking the first steps to be vulnerable.
“Is it cool that I said all that? I know it’s delicate”
“Maybe I got mine but you’ll all get yours”
“This is why we can’t have nice things!!!”
“Don’t blame me, love made me crazy”
“I don’t regret it one bit”
But in evermore, she’s healed. She let it all go. She now looks back on her leap of faith with love and confidence with security.
All of happiness and closure.
“Long story short I survived”
“This pain wouldn’t be forevermore” (that whole song really)
The difference between RFI and willow, between LWYMMD or TIWWCHNT and closure.
And also how she’s written SO many songs on that one pivotal moment with joe. When she realized he’s so special to her, she’s in love with something real (not just the idea of something). So many songs on rep, lover, folklore and evermore. It shows how important it was to her and how much of a turning point it was in her life to just let go of all of her fears and leap.
It’s so beautiful.
you’re so right and just like.. what I love the most about rep & evermore (rep-evermore really) is how she manages to tell the same story of healing and falling in love over and over in different ways and it’s still good every single time. there’s so many parallels and I would die for all of them

The story of Reputation
Aka how I think the tracklist should’ve been
1. ...Ready for it?
It’s a really good opener to the album and introduces Tays Reputation as a persona. This person is ruthless and knows it. They’re a serial dater and it’s very very similar to the blank space persona. Tay begins the bridge with “Baby let the games begin!” It could be just a line used for opening the album, but it could also mean “Let this happen. I’ll never let you go, but I’ll play games the whole time (according to my reputation).”
2. I Did Something Bad
Tays Reputation (what I’m calling the persona on this album) got with this guy, and started playing games but she likes it. The verses are what seem to be the bad things she does (possibly the things in her dreams from rfi). People say she did something bad, but it doesn’t matter to Tays Reputation. It felt good to her. “They’re burning all the witches even if you aren’t one. So light me up” is probably one of the most important parts of this song, and where Real Taylor happens to shine through. Real Taylor isn’t a witch, but her reputation is. But maybe it isn’t so bad that she’s getting burned (at least they were electrified?).
3. Gorgeous
Who is that? Is that.. is that a gorgeous guy? But.. but I’m with this other guy I’m playing games with... Oh gosh I’m gonna die if I can’t be with this person. Maybe I’ll invite him over if he’s single... no that’s honestly worse. (Aka this song is crush central but also frustrating crush central where you want to leave your boyfriend for this guy but that’s really bad to do. This is also where Real Taylor starts to come in on the album.)
4. Getaway Car
Taylor does it. She leaves (presumably) Tom for Joe. The most prominent line that follows this narrative is “I wanted to leave him, I needed a reason.” Joe is her reason for leaving/switching to the other side. This song also is one of the few that includes a key change, which represents her “switch to the other side.” It could also just be for drama in the bridge but we know taytay better than that.
5. Delicate
In keeping with the track five theme, I think delicate should stay here. Delicate is when Real Taylor is the most prominent and vulnerable. She got into an actual relationship but it’s not Official™️ yet. This is the delicate stage of the relationship, and where Tay has anxiety over whether or not Taylor’s Reputation is what Joe really thinks she is. She’s scared that he might leave her because of her reputation, and rightfully so. She spent two whole songs saying all the bad things Taylor’s Reputation has done. But is it cool that she likes him? Is it chill that he knows her deepest darkest secrets? Because it’s really delicate and she doesn’t want it to break. The bridge explodes into her hoping and praying that the relationship works. “Sometimes when I close my eyes I pretend your mine all the damn time!” Because she likes him. Like a lot.
6. King of My Heart
Okay okay Tays relationship has officially begun and holy. shit. This is the honeymoon stage but Taylor has decided that he’s the king of her heart already because she’s been waiting all this time for someone who finally is what she needs and he is that. She fell in love fast and all at once, but it isn’t so fast that it’s dangerous like Red. The tour visuals (and daylight) confirm that this relationship is golden (like a crown). This kind of explains some of her anxiety too, since she’s afraid that it might turn out like Red did (hi Cornelia Street). He’s the King of Her Heart, Body, and Soul and that’s enough for her.
7. So it Goes...
I think this one is about the ~sexy~ times with the king of her heart, and finding out that Joe is really really good at the ~sex~ and together they’re really good at the ~sex~. I think we see a little bit of Taylor’s Reputation in the chorus in the line “I’m not a bad girl but I do bad things with you.” But above all, I think she hints at how much everything aligned perfectly for both of them to get together, and it uses sex to symbolize that. Specifically, I see this in the line “All the pieces fall right into place.”
8. Don’t Blame Me
Taylor’s Reputation comes back for a bit, but she’s changed a little. She found a lover and won’t let it go because it’s her drug. To be honest, this one seems a little self-explanatory. Don’t Blame Taylor’s Reputation for this magnetic force pulling her in so strongly. I also think this has a possibility of being a sort of undercover Blank Space, but the guy is the one that “traps” lovers into a relationship just by the way he is.
9. Endgame
If I could throw away one song, it would be Endgame. It doesn’t quite fit here, but I’m not mad at where it ended up. Endgame is another self-explanatory song, but Taylor and the other featured artists make the verses a really powerful love song. Tay has found her endgame, the person she wants to be with forever. He’s made such an impact on her life that she’s ready for the endgame.
10. Dress
Another sexy song, but Dress has a hidden layer of a really sweet love song underneath it. In the bridge, Taylor sings “Even in my worst times, you could see the truth in me.” He stayed when no one else did. This is a “flashback” song, looking at the past details and explaining how Taylor is so vulnerable and herself around this guy. She bought that dress for him to take it off, even if it makes her nervous and her hands start shaking. She can’t explain it but he made her feel that way.
11. Look What You Made Me Do
The return of Taylor’s Reputation!! But this time it’s in a really complex and sort of meta way, where she looks at writing rfi and idsb (and tiwwchnt) as the thing the drama made her do. The verses are simple and take control of the narrative of the story. She doesn’t like his titled stage and how he gets away with everything, so she tells him. The bridge is another explosive moment, ending with one of the most iconic lines Taylor has ever written. She says in the voice of Taylor’s Reputation that she killed the old Taylor (the Real Taylor), for what I’m assuming is the clap back of the century. It’s sort of like “In the Death of her Reputation, she felt Truly Alive” but the opposite. Taylor’s Reputation had to kill Real Taylor to save herself and take control of the narrative. All in the context of a phone call.
12. This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
Taylor’s Reputation is again still here, but she’s helping explain to those who hurt her why she’s here, and why she had to kill Real Taylor for a moment. She’s been burned and had to save herself after they rained on her parade. Again, the bridge is where Taylor is talking to the people who really stood up for her. Her real friends, her baby, her momma, and even the people who hurt her. It’s kind of a “Thanks for making me tougher.” and an ironic “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
13. Call It What You Want
Taylor’s baby is really what kept her sane through all of that mess, and call it what you want is his thank-you note. Everything came crashing down (They took the crown but it’s alright) but he built a fire just to keep her warm while they hid from the world. She fell in love with him and found real golden love in spite of the fears and hate she was getting. Also I just really love this song and could write an entire book on how perfect it is and also it’s track thirteen
14. Dancing with Our Hands Tied
If Call It What You Want is the fire keeping Taylor warm inside her hideout with her lover, Dancing with Our Hands Tied is the dark and cold outside world. Taylor explains her anxiety best in that January Third diary entry (I’ll try to link it if I remember). She dances with her lover with their hands tied because the outside world is so so so toxic for her that she just wants to cuddle up and ignore everything but her lover while she waits this out. He represents safety and security in the trying times.
15. New Year’s Day
This simple piano ballad is a beautiful closer to the album. It symbolizes new beginnings with the person that will be with Taylor through it all. She’s confident that he’ll be there to help her on New Year’s Day, after the metaphorical chaotic new year’s eve party and the real-life shit storm that was her life in 2016/2017. He’s gonna have her midnights and will also be there to help clean up the mess afterward. Vulnerable Taylor also makes an appearance in the line “Please don’t ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere.”  Overall I think this metaphorical New Year’s Day clean up time is a perfect end to a complex album that showcases Taylor’s amazing lyrical skills and her ability to twist her struggles into art. Reputation is obviously my favorite album, and I tried to explain the way I listen to the album and understand it’s complexities. This is my longest post ever, so thanks for reading it all the way through!

bad blood and ...ready for it? are related
This is going to be a long post so brew the tea, curl up in your favorite chair with a fluffy blanket and get ready to read because I’m going to write to process all of this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay so after @9w1ft made this post about the ...ready for it? pack in TSL covered in palms @reintrothrurep and started talking about the music videos released in the reputation era, specifically...ready for it? The TSL pack covered in palms seemed like nothing much during the reputation era but when you think of it after the star palm tree post it’s kind of a big deal because it’s a clue!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The song ...ready for it? at first listen sounds like an introduction because asking someone if they are ready for it implies something is about to happen. For us in reputation era that is new music and the whole reputation album release because this was the second single. Plus the song is in the very beginning of the album. Now I think the song itself is alluding to TS7. I think it’s a dance between the reputation era and the next era. Imagine reputation was listened to in reverse and ...ready for it? was the last song on the album. It would be an introduction into the next chapter.
She sings about an ‘island breeze’, ‘in the middle of the night in my dreams’, singing softly in the chorus but in the beginning she’s almost threatening ‘I keep him like a vendetta, holding him for ransom’. She’s singing about two different people. The love the public sees and her true love. OR depending on how you want to interpret it singing about two versions of herself. A very very common theme on the reputation album. Which never occurred to me until I watched the ...ready for it? music video.
Tumblr media
When the music video came out it felt like the beginning of a film and then there was no other correlation to it in the rep era. Something about it felt unfinished to me. I always thought rep was going to be released ala Lemonade style as a visual album but maybe I was close to that idea in a different way...
What if TS7 is the one in the glass cube? Her leaving up the stairs is beginning the next chapter. She’s in a glass cube and is finally released. Plus so many blue eyes flashing it’s very curious. She’s also looking down at her cage when she leaves at the end. Probably because we are still in rep era at this time.
Tumblr media
@reintrothrurep noticed the elements of Bad Blood music video are similar to RFI: “The leather suit from BB with the left arm added equipment kind of mirrors the armor and equipped weapon she has on her left arm when she transforms in RFI. Even the 6 masks that cover the faces of Selena's side in BB look similar to the 8 faces of the machines in RFI to symbolize her beards.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What if it's a trilogy being played out?” - @reintrothrurep
I suggested it is a trilogy like 1. Blank Space, 2. Bad Blood, 3. ...ready for it?  but @reintrothrurep said she considers Blank Space as the prequel while BB and RFI would be considered as part of a trilogy. So that would mean we haven’t seen the third video yet. ;)
Tumblr media
Thinking about the music videos in that context I re-watched BB and found it to be eye opening when looked at as a trilogy. First,
I think Bad Blood is making the robots for RFI music video.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That is why there are so many celebrities in the music video because they are all in training for their image/reputation to the public. There are lots of moments when the characters are looking at mirrors at their reflections. Or viewed through glass in some way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One could argue that the Taylor in the beginning of the Bad Blood music video is being herself trusting others but then she is betrayed by her partner interesting to think about when you also consider she put it with “should’ve said no” on the reputation stadium tour set list. Have a feeling it was inspired by someone who inspired Red...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bad Blood music video shows she has to go through training to build her image her, reputation to the public. Interesting because that is what she did in 1989 era only to be broken down by the public so she locked away The real Taylor (or glass cube Taylor, or the album that never was Taylor, OR TS7 Taylor whatever you want to call her) reputation era Taylor released her during the reputation era....am I losing you?
Picture this: Bad Blood Taylor in the music video is Red era/1989 era Taylor, black hood Taylor is reputation era Taylor and glass cube Taylor is TS7 Taylor. It’s almost like the real Taylor is locked away in the fortress because she wasn’t ready to come out in public as herself. The real Taylor had to be protected, trained and ready for what the public would throw at her. and with the death of her reputation she felt truly alive.
Tumblr media
When the robot black hood Taylor comes to see the glass cube Taylor she keeps asking if she is RFI? The thing about the robots is and Taylor says in the BTS ‘they aren’t real’. We are seeing behind closed doors in this music video. The robots are what we see of Taylor, the black hood robot looks just like Taylor but it’s not the real Taylor.
Tumblr media
In RFI we see the public Taylor and the private Taylor by the end we see the real Taylor released by her own voice out into the actual public. If we go back to the thought process that Taylor is singing about two different versions of herself in this song then the island breeze lights down low would be the natural curly hair Taylor part which is arguably one of the themes of her next album TS7.
This is where the palm tree imagery comes into play. Which she has been hinting to all throughout the reputation era. And it also goes hand in hand with my theory that reputation is only half the story. The other half or ‘the album that got away’ has mostly love songs. Because a good portion of the songs were written in 1989 era and some were released on reputation and some were saved for TS7 (this is my theory she could’ve ‘scrapped’ the album she was making and made reputation instead).
Something to note her hairstyle at this part in Bad Blood and her hair style in ...ready for it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We all know Taylor likes to change her hair style when she is sending a specific message. If you are going off of the theory that the real Taylor is the one in the back of the LWYMMD video in the palm tree outfit then that would imply TS7 is about the real Taylor, her most authentic self. So if the real Taylor is in the glass cube with her curly hair and using her hairstyle as a clue then one would argue she’s her real self when she’s with Karlie or ‘knockout’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s my points:
...ready for it? is alluding to the next album (TS7)
Bad Blood and ...ready for it? music videos are related to each other they are on the same timeline & have a third one coming that finishes the story line.
Taylor is using island imagery to convey her true love is tucked away on a remote paradise hidden from the public.
Taylor is no longer keeping her most authentic self in a glass cube away from the world she’s ready to come out.
reputation era Taylor released her.
Taylor is her ‘real’ self with her true love sunshine Karlie Kloss.
Thank you to @reintrothrurep and @9w1ft for inspiring me to think outside the glass cube on this one ;)

once you get around to listening to lover what did you think !!! im v curious on your opinions about it heh
thank u for wanting my opinion. i thought i was gonna make it a brief review thingy but i cannot be brief for the life of me. i’m sorry. anyway,
i’mthankful it’s a long album because based on me! i knew i’d like it. not thatme! is a masterpiece or anything but it’s brighter and more fun than herprevious era which i Did Not like. i know reputation is, taylor swift history-wise, important. it’san album she did no press for and allowed the songs speak for themselves and i really like this idea and the sentiment behind it, i’m just Not A Fan of the execution. edgy taylor swift doesn’twork for me. don’t blame me slaps tho. i’ll probably compare these songs to alot of reputation, sorry.
anyway. loveris a more colorful album and probably my favorite pop album from ms. swift, i’m not good at like. Grading things so i won’t be like ‘this is a 8.5 kind of album’ cause like. i don’t know numbers? what you need to know is that it’s a good album. let’s gowith the tracks:
may i add that this is not coming from a taylor swift fan, however i have several friends who are into taylor swift so it’s hard not to get the slightest 2nd hand interest.
i forgot that you existed: was excited as soon as it started! theproduction is lighter and less dramatic. i feel like contrary to reputationwhere she was kind of obsessed with the people who hurt her and betrayed her inthe previous years, this song is a nice way of letting go. a nicer, yet stillkind of shady, revenge by being like. Oh. You Mean Nothing To Me Anymore.
fave lyrics: “it isn’t love, it isn’thate, it’s just indifference so.. yeah.”
cruel summer: the chorus…. amazing! i remember reallydisliking her reputation singles, especially “ready for it” because it was veryunnecessarily dark and, again – in my opinion – dark and edgy doesn’t work fortaylor swift.  BUT, rfi had that chorusthat escaped the intense beats and kind of went back a little to her 1989 eraand it’s the one thing from the song that i actually tolerated. and i feel likeall of cruel summer is song that fits the melody of the rfi chorus better thanrfi itself. does that make sense?
fave lyrics:the entire bridge but especially: “i don’twanna keep secrets just to keep you” and “i love you, ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard?”
lover: 11/10. fucked me the fuck up. it’s a song aboutlove that isn’t a still-too-fresh-and-uncertain love, or some angsty love. it’sjust love. she’s properly in love and is singing about it with somuch care and certainty. it’s a happy song about the one she loves and how could i hate it? bestsong in the entire album. probably my 2nd fave taylor swift song ofall time
favelyrics: “with every guitar string scar onmy hand” so much is being said in this one fucking line. i absolutelyfucking love it. the fact that this song was 100% written by her is a big plus.
the man: honestly was kinda stressed about the kind of discoursethis one could cause, especially cause of the lack of addressing the whitenessof it all but idk. this is her ownexperience so how much can we ask from her? and also in many ways this feels like 5years late but i’m not gonna complain about this. better late than never (andshe has addressed sexism in her songs before so it’s not like she’s just starting at feminism). she’s made severalpoints w this one and it sounds good.
favelyrics: the part where she’s like “what if i was bragging about the models i’mfucking?” cause like. girl is aware of aspecific group in her fandom and i appreciate the little nod (it being real ornot)
archer: love the lyrics. this was like. the 3rdsong from this album that she released and i was So Relieved to actually SEEsongwriter taylor swift coming through. it’s a great song about self hatred andreflection, etc. but i’ve listened to it enough times to know i’m gonna be skippingthis one when i’m listening to this album.
favelyrics: “screaming ‘who could ever leaveme darling?’ but who could stay?”
i think he knows: the chorus and her vocals… *chef’s kiss*. loveit. cute crush song. more mature yet fun style that works for her.
fave lyrics:all of the chorus.
miss americana: i get it, i see the politics of it all but. i’mgonna skip it. soz
favelyrics: “my team is losing, battered andbruising i see the high fives between the bad guys”
paper rings: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS. again, pure, happy, bubbly, unashamed love. a love bop that i adore.
fave lyrics:“i like shiny things but i’d marry youwith paper rings / i hate accidents except when we went from friends to this”
corneliastreet: it’s a nostalgic song that i can’t decide if it’s exactly abreak-up song or not. i like to think the “sacrednew beginning / that became my religion” lyrics are a nod to her bestreputation song aka don’t blame me. i’m so-so on this one but it’s definitely notbad, don’t think i’ll be skipping it for now.
favelyrics: “that’s the kinda heartbreak timecould never mend / (…) and baby i get mystified by how this city scream yourname”
death by a thousand cuts: eh? it’s nice and soft and sad-ish but. idk.not right now - since the album is still pretty fresh to me - but i’ll probablystart skipping this one eventually.
favelyrics: “you said it was a great love, one for the ages / but if the story’s over why am I still writing pages?”
bondon boy: i am so sorry for every londoner that had tolisten to this one. i could hear it being offensive as soon as she startedsaying those words. it sounds nice and fun but jesus christ taylor. it’s likesomeone from her label said “you gottamake it clear you’re fucking that joe dude or your album won’t sell” andtaylor immediately googled ‘british slang’ and wrote this song.
fave lyrics:“but something happened i heard himlaughing / i saw the dimples first and then i heard the accent” i’m asimple phannie. i hear the word dimples i think of dan
soon you’ll get better: bro. was not ready. you can hear thepain and fear in her voice. the chorus kind of reminds me of “never grow up”(aka my fave taylor swift song), etc. the sad, almost hopeless addition of “cause you have to” is so heartbreaking. it’sa personal and gorgeous yet sad song, and she goes back to her country roots for this one,so that’s nice. absolutely beautiful.
fave lyrics:hard to choose but “you like the nicernurses you make the best of a bad deal / i just pretend it isn’t real / i’llpaint the kitchen neon, i’ll brighten up the sky / i know i’ll never get itthere’s not a day that i won’t try” i hate, hate, the notion ofromanticizing a sad and scary situation like this one, and i think i understandthis as less of romanticizing and more of sympathizing with, cause i’ve alsobee in this situation with my family – but because it was just a few days agothat phil revealed his father’s battle with cancer, i couldn’t help but thinkof him too and how much he must have feared for his dad while still trying to keep it together for everyone around him.
false god: love the sax. i know i will fully love thissong at some point. i know it. i’m just not there yet. i like the parts when she has torush her words. i’ll get there with this one.
favelyrics: “they all warned us about timeslike this / they say the road gets hard and you get lost”
you need to calm down: fun, boppy, cute. i get what shewas going for and appreciate it. it’s a more carefree pop song and i’m okaywith it. not unskippable though.
fave lyrics:“and i ain’t tryna mess with your self expressionbut i’ve learned a lesson that stressing and obsessing bout somebody else is nofun”
afterglow: i don’t know yet. probably one i’ll skip. notbad, i don’t think there’s a song in this album that is necessarily Bad, butthis one is just not really memorable.
fave lyrics:don’t have one actually. soz
me!: definitely not a masterpiece BUT introduced usto this era which is probably her best pop era. i loved the absolute changefrom the reputation era, bringing back colors, bringing back fun, introducing amore politically active taylor swift, etc. i also like the idea that she knowsthat this is not her best work but she knew that if she was gonna make a catchyradio friendly pop song, she’d make one that’s about self love, etc.
fave lyrics: i’m a simple girl, “me e e e, o o o oh”
it’s nice to have a friend: this folk-y vibe? works? is thisfolk? sorry if im being dumb. but it has a lonely vibe, it’s kind of really sadin a way, but it’s lovely at the same time.
fave lyrics:“something gave you the nerve / to touchmy hand”
daylight: a song about letting go and forgiving herselffor her past mistakes and learning to focus on the good parts of her life, morespecifically her lover. like new year’s eve was to reputation, this is a nicesong to wrap this album.
fave lyrics:“you are what you love”

My Top 10 Favorite Hit Songs of 2018
I’m going to say it. This year’s popular music SUCKED. As I attempted to keep in touch with the US Billboard charts, the music I saw getting big every week only assisted in my losing faith in humanity. Pop music just wasn’t popular this year. And that’s not to say that pop music is dead or that there isn’t any good pop music being made, (just look at my entire page,) but it certainly wasn’t getting as much success in the mainstream as usual. I get it. Music trends come and go, and what’s big in at one point in time might not be in another Just think about how much R&B there was in the 2000s, and how club/EDM anthems were giant in the early 2010s. This year was dominated by hip hop, which I have nothing against in theory, but at least have it be GOOD hip hop music. I know there’s amazing hip hop out there, but that’s not what I saw getting popular. The bad stuff this year was really bad, at best bland and forgettable and at worst unlistenable garbage music made by garbage people. But rather than focus on the bad, I think that it’ll be better for my sanity to focus on the good, just to assure myself that even when the charts are dominated by shit there might a diamond hidden somewhere. This is the chart I will be using. So, without further ado, here are my best hit songs of 2018.
Tumblr media
10) One Kiss by Calvin Harris ft. Dua Lipa This isn’t my favorite Dua Lipa song by far, (or Calvin Harris song,) but this is still a ton of fun. The production is simple, but tropical and uptempo, with a glossy, shuffling background beat and synthy horn riffs, and Dua Lipa’s performance helps elevate it all. This song radiates summer, it’s like having a tall glass of orange juice on the beach. My only problem with the song is the drop, with the pitch-lowered vocals and continuation of the background track. It feels a bit lazy and is too short to really build up steam. Otherwise, this song is pretty good. It was certainly refreshing to hear on the radio every so often.
Tumblr media
9) Eastside by Benny Blanco ft. Khalid & Halsey This song is so relaxing and smooth. The production is simple, with a mid-tempo beat and a couple fluttering notes her and there, but it suits the subject matter of the song, which is very nostalgic and bittersweet. As always, I love the sound of Khalid’s voice, (though his pronunciation on this song is kind of garbled, it’s hard to tell what he’s saying,) and Halsey’s performance is good too, never dipping into grating territory like it does sometimes. The two of them have great chemistry. Also, the music video for this song is both funny and heartbreaking. It low key made me cry? I never heard this on the radio where I live, and only listening to it recently when making this list, but it’s certainly one of the best hit songs of the year.
Tumblr media
8) LOVE. by Kendrick Lamar ft. Zacari Kendrick Lamar made a… pop song? Kind of? Okay, I wouldn’t call it pop, it’s definitely still hip hop, but it’s got some R&B and pop elements to it. It’s his version of a pop song. While it may not Kendrick Lamar’s best song, it’s still Kendrick Lamar. Him not at his “not best” is a whole lot better than other artists at their peak. The production is bold but at the same time chill, with a smoky kind of atmosphere. I’ve never listened to Zaraci, but his voice is wonderful here, cutting through the background music and Kendrick Lamar’s rapping like a ray of sunlight. I’m going to be honest, I mostly love this song because the CHVRCHES version is so good (listen to that here.)
Tumblr media
7) Love Lies by Khalid ft. Normani This is one of the only pop songs that got consistent radio play where I live, and while the overplay did wear this track out a bit, I still like it. I never changed the station when it came on. Khalid and Normani have great chemistry, (what is it about Khalid that makes him so good at duets? With Eastside, this, lovely with Billie Eilish…) I love their harmonies on the chorus. Normani is a very promising vocalist, I’m excited to see what she comes out with in the future. The production is solid, with that low (I think guitar? synths? IDK) riff, snap percussion, and vocal layering in the backgrounds.

6) IDGAF by Dua Lipa The. Tell. Off. Anthem. Of. The. Year. This is a guilty pleasure of mine, I can’t say that this song is particularly good, but I’m literally in love Dua Lipa, so I don’t care. She’s sassy as hell on this song. The production is so catchy, especially with that plucky guitar melody and those pianos that come in as the song progresses. I love the bridge, where it goes back to just her and guitar, and it slowly builds back up to the final chorus. My only problem with hearing this on the radio is that it always had to be the censored version! I mean, I get why, but listening to the censored version of this song is like eating an unsalted Saltine cracker. It’s completely against the point.
Tumblr media
5) Delicate by Taylor Swift I haven’t heard the entirety of Reputation. I don’t think I’ll ever go out of my way to listen to it. Look What You Made Me Do and ...Ready For It? were pretty awful, but Delicate? Delicate I really love. I didn’t like LWYMMD or ...RFI? because they were grating, lacked subtlety in their lyrics, and the production was all over the place. But this song takes the lyrical themes in those songs and presents them in a more vulnerable light, which works a lot better. And the production is very nice too. Everything flows together so smoothly. I like how the chorus is just her voice with the snaps in the background, and then melodies rush back in for the “drop.” This song washes over you and it’s perfect for a late night drive.
Tumblr media
4) Boo’d Up by Ella Mai Praise the heavens for this song’s success. I remember when I first head it, it was so pants-shittingly good that it blew my mind. Ella Mai’s vocals are gorgeous, going through the melodies with such ease and grace and using vibrato in just the right places. The production on this song is lush as hell. I love the blocky percussion, light cymbals, and twinkling pianos. My only problem with this song is the extended spoken word outro, which gets a bit tiring. Otherwise, this is an amazing song.
Tumblr media
3) when the party’s over by Billie Eilish  I’m cheating here. This song didn’t make it onto the year end list, but I just had to include it. This song is heart-wrenching in all the right ways. Billie Eilish’s vocals are quiet and reserved, dipping into her higher register, they’re just so vulnerable and sad. She emits so much emotion on this song. The production on this song is simple, with just a piano, some distortion, background vocals, and not much else, but that’s what makes it work so perfectly. Anything else, and this song would become too cluttered. I’m so happy that this has hit the charts and is picking up steam, because god knows we need more promising, unique, and talented voices like Billie Eilish’s in the mainstream.
Tumblr media
2) Finesse (Remix) by Bruno Mars ft. Cardi B Sometimes, you just need a song that’s downright fun. That’s how to describe this song. FUN! It’s so energetic and fucking catchy, everything about it clicks into just the right place. I don’t like Cardi B, but she’s pretty great here. Bruno Mars is great here. The production is slick as hell, with the bells and the drums and the sound effects. That little doh-pah sound in the chorus? Amazing, low key my favorite part of this song. You can’t not dance to this song. It’s perfect for a party playlist, or even when you just want to feel happy. This was such a relief to hear on the radio in between all the forgettable mush, like a rainbow pouring through the clouds.

Should Have Been Hits
Strangers by Sigrid This song had a ton of chart success in Europe, but didn’t cross over to the U.S. I guess we weren’t interested in listening to a bubbly, sunny BOP AND A HALF.
Paradise by George Ezra George Ezra, you know, the “Budapest” guy? That song was pretty good, wasn’t it? Another hit in the UK, this song features an electric, rushing beat, sick guitars, and George Ezra’s wonderful deep voice. I only have one issue with this song, and that’s that the line “running though your bloody veins” makes my skin crawl. Otherwise, this song is a total jam.
Answerphone by Banx & Ranx & Ella Eyre featuring Yxng Bane Slaps to the gods. Holy lord. This is the summer smash we deserved. Listen to it NOW.
Sun In Our Eyes by MØ ft. Diplo C’mon, we can give MØ another hit, can’t we? One where she isn’t sidelined into a feature slot? No? Our loss, then. This song isn’t my favorite off Forever Neverland, but had the most potential to become a hit, (I even heard it in a Starbucks one time,) and it deserved to.
Honorable Mentions/Guilty Pleasures
Wait by Maroon 5 I’m willing to admit that this song isn’t that good. Adam Levine’s falsetto is grating, the beat staggers all over the place like it’s drunk, and the production turns everything into soup. But something about this song keeps me from hating it like I know I should. Maybe it’s the fact that I find it kind of relaxing, maybe it’s because Alexandra Daddario is in the music video and she’s really pretty... I don’t know.
Friends by Marshmello ft. Anne-Marie Okay, this song straight up SUCKS and I kind of like it a lot? The production is a mish mash of random noises that sound like a robot having a seizure, Anne-Marie’s voice get annoying, and the lyrics are reprehensible. Still low key love it though. It’s like drinking Mountain Dew: you know it tastes cruddy and is bad for you, but there’s a spark to it that keeps you coming back.
Nice for What by Drake In a year where Drake absolutely DOMINATED the charts, this is the song by him that I liked the most. It’s got a groove to it with that Ms. Lauryn Hill sample and some decent lyrics.
Lucid Dreams by Juice WRLD It’s just fucking catchy, man I don’t know what else to say. (It’s not even his melody, really. It’s a Sting sample.) This song is the epitome of whiny sad boi emo rap, and the positively dreadful lyrics reflect that. I’m not going to say this song is even remotely good, (it’s probably one of the worst songs of the yeah, tbh,) and I’m not going to defend it. I’m ashamed enough as it is.
Youngblood by 5 Seconds Of Summer Who would’ve thought that the band that came up with “you look so perfect standing there in my American Apparel underwear,” one of the dumbest lyrics ever put to music, could come up with something good? This song has a propulsive feel, like you could go on a run to it. I like the “ooooh” that come in during the chorus too. Count this in as my number 11 pick.
All the shitty schlock music that got big this year was starting to weigh me down. I was in a state of mind, if you will. But then, something happened. I heard a song, a pop song, a good pop song. A great pop song. A song with an angelic opening, a surprising yet amazing switch-up, and uplifting lyrics. And then, in that moment, I knew that something wonderful had happened, that a god has returned from the heavens, and that I, now, had no tears left to cry.
Tumblr media
1) no tears left to cry by Ariana Grande  This song is awesome, okay? The production is catchy, the lyrics and fun, the chorus soars like a goddamn eagle, and the vocals? Do I even have to tell you? It’s Ariana Grande. This powerhouse performance puts all those mushy mouthed vocal deliveries that ruled the charts this year to shame. And in the midst of all the slower tempoed songs, I remember hearing this song and thinking: “by god, you can dance to this.” All of these elements come together and form something special, something damn near perfect. no tears left to cry by Ariana Grande. My favorite hit song of 2018.
Do you agree with this list? What were your favorite hit songs of 2018? Leave a comment and let me know!

alright folks. settle in. this is the story of how i met taylor swift after waiting 10 years. whew.
i don’t honestly know how to start this bc i never thought i’d make this text post.
so it all started on tuesday night. i was reading and scrolling my phone as one does, and then i get a text from hailee aka @ootwoodsyet aka my twin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
taylornation sent her a dm and both of us FREAKED OUT. we were cautiously optimistic but i think both of us were like OKAY THIS IS IT! THIS IS WHAT WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR! EVERYONE STAY CALM IT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENING! so anyway, obviously hailee is the best person in the universe and replied putting my name in as her plus one and then we just texted each other non-stop for like two hours straight. tn replied to her email and asked for our social media handles, my full name, and our birthdays. we could hardly sleep that night, so when we woke up early the next morning we texted each other still freaking out. finally TN emailed back and was like OKAY YOU TWO ARE ON THE GUEST LIST! HAILEE LITERALLY FACETIMED ME FROM HER CAR AND WE BOTH LOST IT. at that point we immediately started making plans bc the next day thursday was the event in chicago. we had no idea when or where it was happening, but we knew we were going to be there. so we started prepping. i had to cancel on a client photoshoot (oops...but i’m not sorry) and uh hailee may or may not have had food poisoning that morning......so i went to platos closet and bought a new dress (velvet, blue, and PERFECT) and then i packed up a bag bc i was gonna go straight from my parents’ house to louisville on saturday for the rep show (wtf). neither of us slept very well wednesday night, and then AND THEN IT WAS TIME FOR THE WEIRDEST BEST DAY OF LIVES.
thursday june 28, 2018 --
i woke up at 7:15 and drove like 8 hours north from nashville to chicago. there was actually a decent amount of traffic that day but at one point i had to take a detour because there was a crash on i65. so on this random detour in southern indiana, a little ways outside of louisville, i was blasting better than revenge and i look to my left and I SAW TAYLORS FACE ON A TRUCK AND I SCREAMED BECAUSE THE REP TOUR BUSES WERE JUST SITTING IN THIS RANDOM LOT
Tumblr media
I THOUGHT IT HAD TO BE A SIGN AND UH I GUESS I WAS RIGHT???? i also passed a place called “swifty farms” (what) and of course i drove through taylorsville so um needless to say....it was all meant to be
i eventually made it to chicago at 5:30pm and i picked up hailee from the train station. we flipped bc we literally did this exact same thing less than a month about for the 2nd chicago show and HERE WE WERE AGAIN FOR THE SAME WOMAN soooo we made our way to the first location that TN said to meet at by 7pm. we pulled up at like 6:15 and the parking lot was full but they already had a line of people. after finding a nearby garage to park in, we literally RAN across the way to get in line (it was like 10 minutes and we were so sweaty wow) and then we were in line and we had to go through two different security sections - each one asked for our names and ids. then at the second checkpoint they gave us wristbands based on our ages (i’m over 21) and eventually we went off to give them our phones and bags and stuff. then we were directed onto a greyhound bus and when we got on we legitimately became the most obnoxious people i’ve ever known in my entire life.
Tumblr media
when we got on they were playing reputation (duh) and RFI was on so we literally listened through the album one whole time and it was WILD. we didn’t have our phones so we were just freaking out about twitter. we spent the whole time singing along and being totally in awe. the whole bus did 123 LETS GO BITCH during delicate, and thennn during getaway car when she goes SAID GOODBYE IN A GETAWAY CAR the bus MOVED AND WE LEFT TO GO TO THE SECONDARY LOCATION (john mulaney???)
so we drove until new years day came on and then we pulled into this random alley. before we could get up, this CAMERA crew showed up and went to the back of the bus to film us. they told us to be excited so we WERE?? and then we got off and went inside this random venue. hailee and i gripped each other’s hands so hard and then we went down this tunnel with mirrors & screens & then i almost broke down into tears bc it was all so overwhelming. they had so many professional photographers asking to take our photos and then the taylor people were handing out raffle tickets telling us to do stuff. it was like this weird underground area that had these gorgeous industrial bathrooms (with so many toiletries like oil sheets & dry shampoo & tampons & gum & hair ties) and there were arcade games and an led dance floor that lit up with hearts where you stood and there was a skee ball thing where we STOOD ON IT AND GOT OUR PHOTO TAKEN and they had claw machines with merch inside and these HUGE photobooth backdrops (BIG REPUTATION + taylors face + a huge snake) and basically you had to do stuff to get tickets and then you could use the tickets to get free merch! we didnt catch on quick enough though so we didn’t get anything more exciting than a water bottle & a tote (which were still so cool)
so anyway, we did some stuff, got a BIG REPUTATION non-alcoholic drink that was like soda water + blackberry syrup + a lime and it was just okay haha and as we went over to try and get our free merch we heard a THATS TAYLOR SWIFT scream from across the room and basically RAN to see what was happening. and that’s when this wall opened up and uh WE WALKED INTO A CONCERT VENUE AND LOST ALL CHILL
IT WAS SUCH A SMALL VENUE HAILEE AND I WERE IN THE BACK ROW BUT LITERALLY WE SPENT 10 MINUTES HYPERVENTILATING AND SCREAMING AT EACH OTHER!!! there were cameras everywhere, and it was so industrial but there was PIANO + THE SPARKLY GUITAR + THE KOI GUITAR?????? AND HER BLACK GUITAR WITH THE STARS ON THE FRETS!! so we hung out for a while in taylor limbo and felt like we were gonna combust and then AND THEN THE NIGHT KICKED INTO HIGH GEAR AND I SWEAR HAILEE AND I BOTH JUST BLACKED OUT
THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND TAYLOR JUST FREAKING WALKED OUT ON STAGE AND I ALMOST BURST INTO TEARS SHE WASN’T REAL BUT SHE WAS RIGHT THERE AND I WANTED TO EXPLODE anyway she wore a green jumpsuit with a huge belt and some cute high heeled booties and uh she was her usual cute self being like HI GUYS WHATS UP there were like 200 people there and i couldn’t get over that!!! this was her smallest show in like 10 years???? AND I WAS THERE??? uh but yeah so she did 6 songs - gorgeous + delicate on guitar, all too well + new years day on piano, and shake it off on guitar. here are some highlights from that set...
the whole crowd did *DING* during gorgeous and 123 LET’S GO BITCH during delicate
taylor said that they were trying to decide if they needed backing vocalists and she decided not to and it turned out they didnt need them because we sung literally ALL the backing parts - like the high pitched “delicate” - we did that
she didnt even finish the last delicate bc we sang it so loud and she just laughed
she was so so SOOOOO comfortable with us like i have never seen her so candid and chill and relaxed?? like she was smiling and giggling and she made mistakes and didn’t even care and it was so CUTE I CANT STAND IT
at the piano she was like “oooh sorry i didnt get to sound check hang on lemme figure this out”
when she sat at the piano she was like “wow my hair’s so long” and how she thought about cutting it for these upcoming florida shows since it’s so hot and then the crowd was like OMG CUT IT or OMG DONT CUT IT and our section was like CUT ITTTT and she looked directly at us and was like mmmmm “you guys dont want it....” and wow i think she looked at me then wowowow
she explained that for all too well it was such an emotional song and she used to hate playing it bc it made her so sad but bc we love it so much now she loves playing it bc it makes her think of us and she was freaking SMILING DURING THIS WHOLE PERFORMANCE!! like the last time i saw her perform it live in my presence was 5 years ago at the red tour in chicago and she was crying but during this time she was LAUGHING AND SMILING
someone sang all to welllllll really terribly and off key and the whole audience fell silent and taylor just looked at that person and laughed and we all lost it
then she talked about writing reputation and how it was so cathartic for her and like she came up with the “there will be no explanation there will just be reputation” rhyme and it was so cool that now she has to stick to it and not give interviews so she was excited to explain to us more about the album
AND THEN she told this story about how 2 new years ago she was celebrating and just like realizing that everyone just wants to kiss someone at midnight but you really need someone to look after you while you’re popping advils the next day
she played new years day and we were all so emo wow
so then she gets up to get her guitar and we’re all like PLAY THE SPARKLY GUITAR!!!! and she looked so dismayed she was like “guys it’s just a prop it isn’t tuned” and we were so sad we were like TUNE IT!!! and she’s like NO I CANT
so thennnn she’s like “okay so i have one more song” and we were all like “PLAY MORE PLAY MORE” and she said “well, i could play you three more songs ORRRR we could take pictures...” and wow everyone died it was wild
she played shake it off acoustic and im not okay
then she explained what was gonna happen next and she was like FIRST OF ALL i cant really talk to you since i’m touring i need to save my voice and i’m not supposed to talk and second, we’re doing it in groups of four so make friends bc you’ll get photos in groups of four!
then as she finished she was like “uh i guess i’ll just go back here? no one really told me what was happening or what to do so...ILL SEE YOU SOON!!!”
as we walked out i saw a girl hugging her friend and crying. relatable. so hailee and i waited for our blue color to be called and went to claim our free merch. after we freshened up, we were waiting and this girl offered us poptarts and we both looked at each other and were like “omg poptarts” soooo then we got at the end of the line for the M&G. we were freaking out and we didn’t know what we’re gonna say and it was so surreal. like, we were gonna meet taylor swift. TAYLOR SWIFT! FUCK
so we’re waiting. and then these staff people come over and ask how many we have in our party (we say 2) and immediately they’re like...i think we have 2 openings over here hang on. so they deliberate, and then we’re being motioned to the FRONT OF THE LINE and we skip like 50 people and OUR HEARTBEATS TOOK OFF! WE WERE NOT ALL THERE! WE EXPLODED! WE WERE SO UNPREPARED TO JUMP THAT LINE BUT WOW WE WERE REALLY OUT THERE GETTING READY TO MEET TAYLOR.
we then were ushered upstairs and they lead us over a little bridge that was above the concert venue. eventually we made it past another security checkpoint and got to this fabric walled hallway where we glimpsed MAMA SWIFT and we almost lost it.
as we approached the very front of the line, TREE PAINE SHOWED UP and was just so sweet and nice and bubbly and we immediately decided to stan her. she was like “wow this is such a beautiful group of people you all look fantastic!” and we were like WOW ITS TREE PAINE and so then THEN ANDREA CAME BACK OUT AND WAS LIKE HELLO WOW YOU ALL LOOK SO BEAUTIFUL!!! and i shook her hand and told her it was honor to meet her and she was so so happy
(this whole time dont blame me and delicate was playing in the background)
((at one point tree was trying to figure out what was playing and i was like ITS DELICATE and she was like OH YEAH YOU’RE RIGHT))
sooooooo ummmmmm then security was ushering us around the corner and into this back area and TAYLOR SWIFT WAS RIGHT THERE??????? hailee and i were GRIPPING each others hands and i almost broke down into tears but hailee was like NO YOUR MAKE UP DONT DO IT YET NOT YET HOLD IT TOGETHER
and taylor (that sneaky bitch i love her) saw us together and basically took a photo with the other 2 people in our group and THEN came over to us to do us separately (!!!) ((apparently according to hailee the at&t lady running the thing was like “what is happening” but it’s taylor swift so she can do anything) so she walked over to us and we kept our cool somehow and i was like “WE WAITED 10 YEARS FOR THIS” and she high fived me and was like “WE DID IT!!” and i told her i drove 8 hours from nashville and she was baffled about how far that was. hailee thanked her for making her more courageous and resilient and we thanked her for the pride speech in chicago and she was so excited we went to the rain show. then i thanked her for writing “invisible” and she looked at me like OH WOW IM SHOCKED she was like “wow no one ever talks about that song thank you!” and i told her it made me feel seen and she was just so so kind and warm and did i mention she hugged us? and she’s kinda tall but she felt like our height and she felt like our best friend? ummm yeah so then the at&t people were like PICTURE and we went over and hailee and i both blacked out like we don’t remember what the background looked like??? i assume it’s the same as it always is but we didn’t notice lol um yeah so i remember smiling for the photo and i LEANED MY HEAD AGAINST TAYLORS???!?!? and then as we were finishing i was like IM GOING TO LOUISVILLE ON SATURDAY!!! and she was like “wow im so excited! i cant wait to be back on tour! i always hate the breaks in between!” and then i was like “CAN YOU PLAY SOMETHING FROM SPEAK NOW” and she was like “oh maybe” but she looked so disinterested i was thinking TAYLOR COME ON ITS SPEAK NOW and then i said i love you and she said i love you i think and then we got out and wowowowowowow
tree paine was there again and we were like OMG THAKN YOU CAN WE HUG YOU and she was so sweet like YES OF COURSE!!!! (um @tree-paine you are literally the kindest i would die for you) anyway hailee had a letter for taylor and she asked tree if someone could give it to her and tree was like i’ll put it in my back pocket!! and then we left and we kept thanking people as we walked out and that is the story of the greatest night of my life.
thank you to at&t and to hailee and to @taylornation and of course to @taylorswift wowowow i never thought this would happen to me and it did IT REALLY DID WOW

Everyone keeps asking me about my SS story and I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to post about it but tbh it’s taking me this long to wrap my mind around the idea that it actually happened to me!!! (Also I’m sorry this ended up being so long??? I really didn’t think I would have this much to say lol)
So it all started on Oct 19th at around 9:30 am I was scrolling through my feed before I left for work and all of a sudden I heard the IM alert go off and saw the notification from Taylor Nation. It took me three times to read through it and realize it was REAL and not just one of those fake accounts. My dad was sitting in front of me and all of sudden I shot up from my seat and started freaking out, he seriously had no idea what was going and jokingly said “What did Taylor like something of yours again?!” And I was like “No no no this is her people contacting me asking me for my phone number!!” I was basically in shock the rest of the day and literally couldn’t keep my hands off my phone. Finally around 2pm I saw a NY number calling me and immediately answered it and heard Natalie from TN’s voice. We talked for a good 3-5 minutes and she said Taylor wanted to invite me to a special event on Sunday the 22nd (3 days away!!) and asked if I was willing to make the drive down to LA (its like 5 hours away from where I live), I immediately said yes and knew there was no way in hell I would miss this opportunity. After getting off the phone with TN I was rushed with tons of different emotions. I was extremely ecstatic, in shock, denial, and tbh I even felt a little guilty (weird right?) that it was happening to me and I couldn't share the experience with anyone else.
ANYWAY FAST FORWARD TO SUNDAY.
When I got to where we were all suppose to meet, I checked in with TN and immediately had so much anxiety, thankfully I met @ithinkiamfinallyswift @redlipclassic91 and @cryslovestaylor right off the bat and we all instantly clicked. (seriously love you girls and so glad I got to experience this night with you girls.)
ANYWHO after we got loaded up into the these buses we were driven up to Taylor’s house, where we were led into her back yard and I kid you not when I say it was the most magical experience. The sun was starting to set behind a few palm trees and we were all out by her pool. There was tons of food spread out on three or four different tables (and the cutest REP cookies and special REP M&Ms). She had the BEST smelling candles with speciality labels with reputation & the SS date printed on each one of them. (Cutest details ever). We all hangout in the backyard for a while, admiring her gorgeous pool, eating food, mingling, Tree was out there talking to fans for a good while as well.
Eventually it was time for us to head inside. We barley had a chance to even sit down and get settled before Taylor came out from one of the rooms, she immediately said she had friends with her and Jack Antonoff, Danielle and Alana Haim, and Ruby Rose all came out and joined us in her living room..casual right?
Taylor made her way to the front of the room, saying hi to everyone. She explained what the night was going to entail and how we had all gotten picked. She explained the meaning or inspiration behind each and every song on reputation, when LWYMMD she asked us if we all wanted to get up and dance.. obviously we did. I remember her running over to where our little group was and started dancing with us, she booty bumped with Kimani and danced with her before she spotted me and came over to me and started GRINDED on me??? Me??? THIS ISN’T EVEN AN EXAGGERATION, HER BUTT WAS UP AGAINST MY WAIST AND WE WERE DANCING TOGETHER. It wasn't until the song stopped until I realized that it had actually happened and one of the girls was like “OMFG KENDRA THAT HAPPENED” dead.  I SWEAR TO GOD THIS HAS TO BE ON FILM SOMEWHERE. We watched her cute little self struggle with technology before we got a sneak peek at the ...RFI MV and we all died the two times she showed it to us. THEN, we listened to the rest of reputation, and I wish I could put into words how truly amazing this album is. I loved watching Taylor as she reacted to our reaction to each parts of different songs or lyrics.
I took away SO much from Sunday night but one big thing was that Taylor is honestly SO happy and SO proud of this album.
Our group photo came first and Taylor welcomed us into the room, giving the four of us each another hug before bringing us into a huddle. Taylor walked us over to the LWYMMD throne and said: “So we basically have to make this the best group picture in all of history”. She handed me the phone and told me to act sassy and then insisted she didn’t want to be in the middle of the throne and set us up before we all posed.
Tumblr media
When it was my turn, she ran up to me saying, “Kendra? Ken- Kenny? Is it okay iif I call you that?!” I was beyond shook at this point and Taylor looked at me and started laughing. “Yeah, that was a bit more stalkery than you thought huh? I stalked you pretty hard for about a year or so. That’s kinda embarrassing huh?” She pulled me in for a hug and the thing about Taylor never pulling away first from a hug is 100% accurate. After we pulled away she looked at me and shook her head. “Wow it’s so nice to finally hug you!” She said before grabbing both of my hands. I told her how this was 11 years in the making and she had the audacity to thank me for sticking by her for 11 years. I told her about jingle ball among other things and how I loved her shoes 🤦🏼‍♀️ There was a million other things I wanted to say in that moment but literally my mind went blank.
Taylor made me feel so at home and so special Sunday night and it’s definitely something I’ll never forget. I’m so thankful for this opportunity that I never imagined could ever happen to me. I’m also sooo thankful for all the new friends I met and got to experience this with. ❤️

I… have no excuse. I just love reputation, I love Taylor, and I got stoked for everything she released. I had RFI on repeat for days. Hi, my name is Kit and I’m Tswizzle Trash.
4 - “In Cold Blood” by Alt-J
My writing and driving jam!
17 - “Don’t Wake Me Up” by The Hush Sound
This is on both of Veri’s playlists, so I… listened to it a lot in the last couple months.
45 - “Playing Dead” by CHVRCHES
A bop! I loved Every Open Eye, and I listen to it a lot in the car. That’s really the theme here–I listen to a lot of these songs while driving.
71 - “The Club” from In The Heights
I just… I listened to The Club to Blackout a LOT!! I love LMM.
89 - “I Didn’t Just Come Here to Dance” by Carly Rae Jepsen
Okay, hear me out….. E.MO.TION was an album of jams that the GP slept on, and it’s a travesty. Queen Carly is coming for us, though.

Note
To recap, you think Molly got jealous of Taylor after hearing Rep and broke up with Dianna, but Taylor put 5 songs (which 5?) about Dianna on the album and Karlie's okay with this?
That’s “A” theory.
The following are my thoughts, my thoughts ALONE.
Here’s my take:
Karlie followed Dianna Agron (THE ex), Molly Howard (The Ex’s new gf), and Tracy Dubb, on a whim it seems, several weeks ago.  We don’t know why, but we assumed it had something to do with the album dropping and all of the GAY af lyrics. It makes sense to be on the same page.
An anon hit me up earlier this week, and asked me to look into Dianna’s IG. She had just posted a song by Allan Rayman, called 13. 13 is her favorite number, her and Taylor share a lot of those things. From her posts, she came off as not happy.  We also have the short film uploaded after RFI dropped. It’s called “Glass House”.  Notice any similarities to RFI??? Glass??? Going back earlier, we have the “Zombie Love” post the day Rep. dropped. I’m just an observer.  If I’m the girlfriend, I notice that crap.
I’m not saying Reputation is the reason for a break up, but you can’t NOT notice the timing. I’m sure there were some deep seeded feelings on Dianna’s part for Selby, but we just dont know enough to say.  I’m providing my take on how a segment of rumors could apply.

Reputation in my eyes: a thread
Track 1 - Ready For It, this is the beginning of the album so the title ready for it serves as both a figurative question of are you ready for my side of the story as well a metaphor as if she's asking her new lover are you ready for my crazy life and all that comes with it? The song is so catchy yet straight to the point and I think that really sets the mood for what Reputation is about: it's unapologetically honest. Track 2 - End Game! This song is so 🔥! It's so refreshing hearing Ed on an album again! Though I can't really pin who it's about it could go many directions. In a way it's kinda like she's talking to all her supporters saying I'm in it for the long haul so don't play games with me. This song also introduces another powerful theme throughout the album and that is she's pointing out somewhat proudly but also anxiously that she has a big reputation and she doesn't know how people in her life will react to it. Track 3 - I Did Something Bad. I think Taylor's best revenge for Calvin was not giving him attention by writing songs about their love or even destruction but instead by giving him Nothing! The best revenge is the one where you show that person you are unaffected and happier than ever and this is what this song is about. Everyone's saying she did something bad but she feels so good because she's getting revenge in her own way because she "owes him nothing." Track 4 - Don't Blame Me kind of goes hand in hand with Blank Space doesn't it? I can't help but feel it's her writing about everything everyone says about her and how the media paints her as a boy obsessed crazy person. But because Reputation is all about taking back that reputation she paints the story to seem as though she's okay with that description now and owns it like a boss. Track 5 - Delicate is just stripping everything down to honesty. If we are correct about the theory about the "..." starting her fake rep to her real one in RFI and So It Goes then Delicate is the middle song that just lays everything out on the table. She has finally found a lover who "loves me for me" so she wants to hold on to this boy and take it careful. This time she doesn't want to rush into promises that can't be kept and information that would scare him away. Track 6 - Look What You Made Me Do: I think all I have to say about this one is it's the clap back the media deserved. She is tired of others writing HER narrative so now she's grown up and finally ready to take it back. Track 7 - So It Goes... ends the first half of the album. In a way it's an aside where Taylor's addressing her life away from all the media all the attention and just experiencing life with her man, Joe. She says "all the pieces fall right into place" when it's just the two of them ignoring the world. Track 8 - Gorgeous is one of my favs because I think it's such a raw and adorable view into Taylor's viewpoint. It's no hiding Taylor has always had an obsession with love and boys and this is just the cute girly song that perfectly represents our girl. Secondly it kind of starts the narrative of her and Joe and how smitten she was with him from the beginning. When she says "I hate what I can't have" I think it refers to how when she met Joe she was already dating Calvin so she couldn't have him. And "you make me so happy it turns back to sad" is just one of her more brilliant lyrics because in life it's SO TRUE. Track 9 - Don't let the upbeat tune and melodies fool you this song is so sad. First of all it is the most Jack Antonoff styled song on the album and I LOVE IT!!! Secondly, I have no authority to claim I know exactly what each song is about but let me just try this one because as of now it's my fav song on the album:) In this one she's basically saying we met while I was running away so you shouldn't be surprised I left you too. Anyways to start off I think it has to do with Taylor being in a relationship where she feels trapped. The person she's with (cough cough Calvin) had her hands tied "the ties were black the lies were white" and she just had to get out of that toxic relationship "I wanted to leave him I needed a reason" but she needed a reason and that's when she met Tom. But if you recall the same night she met Tom she also met Joe, but we will come back to that later. Anyways he frees her of her bad relationship and they "were flying" in a getaway car as they escaped and travelled around the world (Rome remember?) and had a good time but taylor warns a getaway car "never gets far" and as we know their relationship only lasted a few months. Now here's the sad part, reputation is all about putting everything on the table plain and simple and I think the bride highlights that. She says "it's no surprise I turned you in" she's admitting what she did in retrospect was hurtful and wrong and what really connected the dots for me was that last line where she says "should have known I'd be the first to leave, think about the place where you first met me" this lyric is loaded!!! If you think about it the place where tay first Tom was the MET Gala. She met Tom there while she was still dating Calvin but left him for Tom, consequently she also met Joe there and ended up doing the exact same thing she did to Calvin to Tom despite the fact Tom saved her and that's why she owns up to her crime "I was crying in a getaway Car said goodbye in a getaway car" she knows she hurt his feelings but nonetheless escaped in the car to Joe. I'm a swiftie first but I also adore Hiddleston and if you know the story their romance than this song definitely has a distinguished hurt and sting to it. Track 10 - King Of My Heart this song perfectly wraps up all three of her past relationships into one song. She starts by saying "she's better off alone" because nothing works even with boys she thought she loved like Calvin and Tom. But in the end their "expensive cars" (quick aside: I cracked up at that lyric because it's no secret Calvin always drives range rovers and Tom's jaguars) didn't do anything for her. Then she met Joe and she knew "all at once" he was the one and that's beautiful. It further shares their love story and how he has been picking up the broken pieces of her heart. Track 11 - This one is also difficult to pin point but the message in itself is clear: because of her fame status her hands will always be tied by lies and spotlights and what not but she wants her lover to chose to dance through the storm. In a way it's kinda like I Know Places on pop steroids. Track 12 - I honestly don't know what to make of Dress yet so... I think if anything it's a little view into her private life with her lover. One thing that is for sure is it's about Joe. I mean the lyric "your buzz cut and my bleached hair" gives it away and also further supports the ideas behind Getaway Car. Track 13 - This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things is the shade the world desperately needed. I think this is a clap back at Kim and Kayne but it could be about Calvin or the court trial or hell even the whole world really lol. All I know is Taylor losing all control in that laugh is my aesthetic. Track 14 - The song’s titled “Call It What You Want” because no matter how blatantly obvious who the song is about people will still be trying to guess past lovers and bring up dirt. End of story. Track 15 - News Year Day. This song is so perfect I don’t know how she does it but it perfectly captures true love in the sense that it’s not one of those love songs about dancing in the rain or kissing or something romantically dramatic because that’s not all love is, love is cherishing the moments doing the simple little things like cleaning up bottles together the day after a party and call me crazy but that was the most romantic lyric of the whole song! So simple and beautiful and I wish I could experience love like that

... Ready for it? THEORY
So I just stumbled across a comment under a video about the RFI video, where a lovely girl ("Major Swifti") wrote down her theory. I really liked that theory and told her to post it on tumblr, but she hasn't any social media and asked me to post it for her. So I hope you guys like the theory as much as I ;) here it is:
"Okay, I have a Theory!!! When the bad Taylor (her Reputation) first walks in on the real Taylor, the real Taylor is crouching down like she's super sweetband innocent and just getting started ("Taylor Swift"-Taylor (her first Album Cycle)).
Then she gets up and realizes she's getting a bad reputation and for the first time is finding out some people think she has a bad reputation ("Fearless" - Taylor).
Then we see real Taylor building on some armor ("Speak Now" - Taylor), since she not only wrote the entire album all by herself but it was the first time she shared any revenge songs.
After that we see her burst into an absolutely beautiful Taylor on a white horse (which is also a nod to her song from Fearless "White Horse" and the music video of her 1989 hit "Blank Space", where she's riding than standing on a white horse), but its like the real Taylor is trying to show the bad Taylor/ Reputation that she is a beautiful person and that she is riding high selling a ton of records and her reputation is actually impressed (During her Red album cycle people started liking her a little more and there was nearly no drama).
Then the horse grows even more beautiful scales (Between Red & 1989 she was featured in several beauty magazines) and her Reputation is truly impressed).
Next we see her start floating up with little soucer things floating around (16 to be exact), which is the "1989" - Taylor when she was at the top of her game and the 16 soucers stand for her 16 Tracks on 1989 (including the bonus tracks) and Reputation-Taylor is SUPER impressed. But then bad Taylor decides she's gonna burst the real-Taylor's bubble and the real Taylor falls down (the Kimye beef which hit her reputation HARD!!! and her ratings went WAY down)
Then the real Taylor is like "Oh yeah!?!?" and the two Taylors battle each other (Taylor from September 2016-August 2017 when people were still taking sides). Suddenly the real Taylor rips of the bad Taylors face exposing her as a robot (That's reputation-Taylor meaning shes gonna destroy the bad satanic girl the media has portrayed her as)
At the very end we see the real Taylor's eyes light up like bad Taylors did at the beginning, meaning she is going to control her own Reputation from now on!"
So the RFI music video shows Taylor's developpement through the years as a star and what it brought with it. It shows how people where hating on her and how the media ruined her reputation (and some other people). But it is not a revenge song, it's not about hating the media and throwing shade on Kim & Kanye. It is telling the story of Taylor growing strong enough to free herself from what others think about her. About her making her own narrative and getting the control back. And about letting the reputation be reputation and focusing on the positive things (which seems to be the motto of this era, because she's spending so much time with us and giving the media no more information than what they can hear/see in her music +videos and what all the swifties post)
All those people focussing on the bad parts didn't get the message right, because I believe Taylor wanted to show us that she is now strong enough and that we can also grow strong and get out of narratives we never asked to be a part of and we can free ourselves from those who control us and our reputation!

Ready For it? the Breakdown
So. I’m gonna start off with a disclaimer that I usually do not write these kind of posts. I don't know why, I just haven’t gotten ‘round to writing them yet. SO if this seems like it’s all over the place, that’s why. Secondly, the reason I felt the need to put this down in words is because, literally EVERYONE on the internet, save for a select few which maybe I haven’t seen are clueless about the video. They are misinterpreting it and it is messing with my head.
@taylorswift if I totally butchered it, I am so sorry.
So here goes.
First things first.
Tumblr media
I’m sure everyone noticed the lip curl. And I’m sure everyone remembered her do the same one in LWYMMD.
Now as we all know, we saw two taylors in the RFI video. Now here’s what those two taylors are according to my theory.
The Taylor wearing the bodysuit is the old taylor and the one in hood is the new taylor who was starring in the LWYMMD video. Did you see how, in the last line up, there were some new taylors, and there were some old taylors and all the new taylors were taking a shot at insulting the old taylors? Yeah. SO according to the LWYMMD video, taylor wants us to think that the new taylor is against the old one and hates her with passion.
But things change in RFI!
Here we see, that The new taylor is in a shady place with gangsters and stuff which I think is supposed to symbolise the dark corner of herself. (forgive me if it sounds corny. Or dont. I don't care)
And we see that she’s enclosed the old taylor in a glass box. Notice how I said ‘enclosed’ and not ‘trapped’ Cz she wasn’t trapped. The new taylor hid her there because she was so broken that she needed protection.
Further proof.
Tumblr media
(maybe? It's a theory)
The new Taylor is still TAYLOR! And this is symbolic of how only she can understand how truly broken she was.
The new taylor isn’t against the old taylor, she’s PROTECTING old taylor. Its almost as if she’s working for the old taylor. She’s feeding her, nursing her and letting her rest while the new taylor faces the world and slams everyone down who doesn’t treat her with respect.
And when she doesn’t need the facade anymore, she destroys it. Time to get real. (PS. did you see how the new her has straighter and styled hair while the old taylor is rocking her natural curls? Thats sick!)
Also, do you see how, throughout the video, the new taylor is not at all upset, or scared or angry by the fact the the taylor inside the glass box is gaining power and actually seems to be pleased and excited that the old taylor is now strong and can break free? She herself encourages her to get out of the box now and the new taylor is actually the one who presses the buttons to let er out.
More proof that the taylor in the bodysuit is the old @taylorswift. She literally spoon-fed it to us and we didn’t see. Which is a shame on us really.
Tumblr media
White horse? WHITE HORSE? white horse. Rings a bell? No? Let me break it down for you.
And it's too late for you and your ‘white horse’ to come around.
Okay? Okay.
Oh this also means that now she’s the one on the white horse. Meaning she don't need no knight in shining armour on a white horse to save her. She ain’t no damsel in distress. She can save herself. WHICH SHE DID!
And for all those who are critical of the nude bodysuit, fuck you! (excuse my french).
DON'T YOU SEE IT? ITS SYMBOLIC OF THE VULNERABILITY OF THE OLD TAYLOR! YOU GUYS!
Did all you swifties really believe that @taylorswift, the queen of deeper layers in her songs, would herself, with her own free will, put on a nude bodysuit, which is slightly promiscuous, without it having some deeper meaning to it? Like really?
Why do you think the new taylor isn’t letting anyone see her? Why do you think there’s only one person the old taylor trusts and that person is herself? Because she’s vulnerable. Now, more than ever! She is not using the media in any way for promoting her album. The media on the other hand has turned her into a clickbait! And I’m glad @taylorswift isn’t letting them use her just to increase the views and ratings. I’m honestly so happy. There’s not press interviews, no TV appearances. She is not letting anyone in! Except for the people she truly trusts. which is her fans. She trusts us enough to know that if she releases music, we will know about it, we will jam to it and we will give it the love it deserves without necessarily judging her.
Now that that’s out of the way. (I'm sorry if Im coming off too strong, I just feel really strongly about people misunderstanding her and then judging her.)
But Now, things are changing. The old taylor has almost recovered and is now stronger than before. She has rebuilt herself and mended all that was broken.
Tumblr media
Do you see this? The ball of light? That ball of lights is the power that she found when she stopped caring about her reputation and became the 'new' taylor. The look of wonder in her eyes is the uplifting she felt when she realised that she doesn’t need to change herself to save herself. She just has to shut out all the negative voices and focus on the ones that truly care for her.
Which brings me to.
'Touch me and you"ll never be alone'
'Touch me and you"ll never be alone'
It’s not just a superficial touch! You guys! Dig deep!
She actually means to say that now, after the old taylor is back if what you do for me and how you treat people touches my heart, If you are genuine and truly care for me, I'll never let u be alone...
Thats why shes been scouring the net for true fans… That she sends goodies to the ones who can’t meet her... @taylornation is legit contacting anyone taylor mentions and invites them to the Secret sessions if @taylorswift wants. She’s filtering people by how much she trusts them and by how much they touch her.
It’s also a clever sexual pun ‘cz the media has labelled her as being irresistible but fast. But I believe she really means touching her emotionally when she says that. (I may be wrong but that's how i think it goes.)
Speaking of clever lyrics. Here’s one more.
She says 'no one has to know' to the old taylor.
So she’s healing herself without letting anyone know that she was broken in the first place. No one has to know she is broken. No one has to know that this is just a mask. no one has to know that she’s soft and healing underneath the hard surface.
And here comes another connection to the LWYMMD lyric. She says the old taylor can’t come to the phone right now ‘coz she’s dead. But in RFI we clearly see she is not. So the new taylor is hiding the fact that the old taylor is still there, under all those layers of new she has put around herself, she’s still there. But ‘no one has to know’ this until the old taylor is ready to let everyone know.
And now ‘Baby let the games begin!’ Shes ready now. To come out of hiding as herself. And show the world that she can still conquer the world even if she doesn’t morph according to the society’s standards.
And also, the lightning?
Tumblr media
The one that gives taylor the power and strength back in flash of seconds. I think it’s a play on the word ‘enlightening.’
Again for the realisation she had that she doesn’t have to care what people think about her decisions as long as she herself is okay with it.
Oh My god! This whole video, in first look doesn’t seem like it makes sense, or has concept.
But for people who have been here a long time, and for people who know taylor for who she truly is, it’s the most epic video she can make. And it’s the first song of the album. So it makes sense that the taylor that was dormant for so many years is now coming back. So are you ready for it?
the album, my thoughts.
I think the album is gonna show both sides of taylor. One that she shows only to the people close to her and the other that she shows the entire world.
You know how people have been saying that ‘Gorgeous’ sounds more like a mix of Red and Fearless? Yup. that's the old taylor of the album! It's the third track. SO i have a feeling that after she breaks out of the glass box in RFI, she starts being herself again, only this time, there's no inhibitions and she’s not letting others know that she’s back to her old self (again ‘no one has to know’). So we can expect the 2nd track to also be like the stuff that taylor usually makes. But the song would be with a more empowering lyric. Like, a lyric that shows how she’s getting stronger. Kinda along the lines of Out of the woods - She lost him but she found herself.
I dont know, thats a shot in the dark I’m taking.
I really urge you to watch the video again, with all this in mind, and I guarantee you, you will not be confused anymore.
Also, if there’s any theories that you guys might have that make more sense than this, PLEASE let me know. This video has been messing with my head and I’m just glad that now I have some context to it.
P.S. I Love you @taylorswift. You are an inspiration for me in so many ways! You show that you dont have to stop loving people altogether just because you have been hurt. You showed me that feeling for people is not a weakness. Feeling Love and being compassionate is not a weakness. Its strength. You just need to nurture the love and compassion that you have within you instead of banishing it.
PPS. I think the reason the new taylor is a filter for boyfriends to. And this guy that she’s singing about, he’s won her trust and is much more compassionate and caring and loving than anyone she’s met before. and thats why she’s now letting the old, real taylor come out and expose herself to him, because she trust him.
@taylornation Please help me get Taylor read this. I really want to know if it makes sense. Thank you for being so nice to the fans and working so hard for @taylorswift

here I go now with my reactions because, i just listened to the album (!!!!!!!!!) whose metascore is 82... whose first week sales is predicted to be 2million. :) :) an evident proof that taylor swift was NEVER over. #reputation okay, i am saying too much. @taylorswift, feel free to jump into my ride of emotions.
okay.. when "...ready for it?" was over, I honestly paused the album and said, "WAIT I AM NOT READY FOR IT." ohymygod END GAME!!!!
"I know what they all say... but I ain't trying to play. I wanna be your end game." OKAY I LOVE THIS SONG. my expectation about this song was so wrong. okay. SWEERAN + THE FUTURE DID THAT!
"REPUTATION PRECEDES ME." - okay, it didn't make the "gorgeous" final lyrics but, it made the "end game" instead... great one, great one, swift. ‘cause that lyrics is sooo good, it deserves to be on one of your songs.
"I did something bad" sounds like the daughter of "look what you made me do." taylor honestly snapped, and I’m scared!
my jaw dropped when I heard Taylor say, “talk shit.” ooooooooooo~
"they're burning all the witches even if you aren’t one." "go ahead and light me up.. light me up.. light me up.." okay, that is seriously inspired with Fall Out Boy's "my songs know what you did in the dark," you cannot tell me otherwise.. lmao
"Don't blame me.." okay. i'll give this song some time to sink in to me but, if IDSB is the daughter, this might be the granddaughter. hahaha!
okay nevermind, the chorus did the thing. it sounds soooo gooood!!! "Lord, save me, my drug is my baby, I'll be usin' for the rest of my life. Don't blame me, your love made me crazy." asdlkdhfkldjfkdldkjglksjgjlsks Taylor.
OHMYGOD "DELICATE" DESERVES TRACK 5. I LOVE IT SOOO MUCH I AM CRYING OH MY GOD I AM NOT BEING OVERREACTING!!! ALL MY HANDS AND FEET DOWN FOR THIS SONNGGGG!!!!
"Sometimes, I wonder when you sleep, are you ever dreaming of me? Sometimes, when I look into your eyes, I pretend you're mine, all the damn time.. 'cause I like you. Is it cool that I said all that? Is it chill that you're in my head? 'Cause I know that it's delicate..."
DELICATE. DELICATE. DELICATE. DELICATE!!!!!!!! I am sooo in love with it. "Look what you made me do" is already playing and ohmygod, "Delicate" really did that!!! I'll say it once and for all; I CAN RELATE!!!!
So it goes...: "you did a number on me" "i did a number on you" TAYLOR, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?? oohhh.. hahaha. I love that whisper of "one, two, three."
OKAY BUT GETAWAY CAR IS A SONG THAT HONESTLY EXISTS NOW! IT SOUNDS SOOO GOOD, AND PLUS THE LYRICS AND THE "GO, GO GO!" AND THE FEELS I LOOOOVEEE ITTTT!!!!!!! hold me and my feelings!!!!!!! The last chorus of "getaway car" fucked me all up!!!!
asdsfdfwfklnfslgjknffknkakfsamfna;slnd;w.as i smashed my laptop keyboard SO HARD it went black and I got scared but, guys, GETAWAY CAR... HOW DO I BEGIN TO EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SONG????? oh God, oh God, oh God... I LOVE THIS SONG SOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GETAWAY CAR.... how dare you? who gave you the damn rights????
if i could, i would shout in 1000 different languages just to tell EVERY SINGLE SOUL ON THIS EARTH that "I LOVE GETAWAY CAR SO MUCH!!!!"
watch me talk about this song for the next 24hours or more.
"King of my Heart" makes me so so soooo happy for Taylor. this love is what you deserve, and i mean it with all my heart, body and soul, Taylor.
I'm listening to it in complete awe, thinking how Taylor literally wrote that song based on HER OWN experience... and not just another "daydreaming about love," or "someday, i'll find this" kinda love. ohmygod.
the way Taylor screamed “I’LL NEVER LET YOU GO” @ 03:04 of “king of my heart.” (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
OKAY NOBODY MOVE. I AM NOW IN TRACK 11 - dancing with our hands tied - and I did a pretty GREAT JOB by not skipping to this track but, here I go. Track 11.
"I, I loved you in secret" - YOU HAD ME AT FIRST LINE TAYLOR. YOU DID NOT!! YOU DID NOT!!!!
BUT WAIT OKAY. I KNEW IT I KNEW IT I KNEW IT. I GUESSED IT RIGHT!!!! YES, IT WAS TRACK 11!!! We all saw it in RFI music video and I just knew it got to be track 11. this kind of lyrics... i cannot!!!
now listening to the most anticipated, most controversial song: "Dress." omg, WILDEST DREAMS 2.0. but you guys....
"Flashback to my mistakes, my rebounds, my earthquakes" - *** HAS DONE NOTHING BUT LOVE AND SUPPORT YOU. ohmygawd,.... shooketh.
The whole song had me SHOOKETH! TAYLOR!!!!!!
"this is why we can't have nice things" okay, a great bop. i felt so exhausted just by typing the whole title. i still can't believe it's an actual song title. IT SOUNDS SO GOOD. YAS TAYLOR YOU TELL THEM.
THE BRIDGE!! THE EVIL LAUGH AND THE RAWNESS OF " I can't even say it with a straight face," it's my new favorite thing!  nice one, swift. nice one!!
I LOVE THIS SONG. IT’S WHAT THEY DESERVE.
okay, i do not deserve to have my feelings SO HYPED at "this is why we can't have nice things" just to suddenly shift it back to a soft, in love, kinda heart to adjust for "call it what you want." it's a roller coaster of emotion. 180-degree turn.
"New Year's Day" sounds sooo soft and raw.. and I love this. aww, Taylor.. I said it once and I'll say it again: you deserve a love like this. you deserve it. you deserve it. you deserve it.
Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you. Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you. And I will hold on to you.
Please, don't ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere. Please, don't ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere.
This is the happy ending that “Enchanted” deserved. YES!
I am so inlove with "New Year's Day." it was such a nice ending to an album... ohmygod.. it's like a feeling of "what do i do now?" after hearing and finishing a wild, amazing story.
These are my initial reactions to the tracks and "reputation" exceeded my expections from the secret sessioners. they were right but, there's still nothing quite like experiencing and feeling it on your own. i don't know what else to say because, i am just so proud of this album.
this is the side of taylor that we didn't get to see, know & hear for the past three years during her break. and TAYLOR I LOVE YOU and I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. hands down to another AHHHHHHMAZING masterpiece that you just shared with the whole world. I LOVE YOU.. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
before I end this thread; reputation is mindblowing! the lyrics, the melodies and how it totally captures the way Taylor feels about each track and each experience. i love how each track is different and unfolds different stories, like seriously.. yes. YAAAAS.
other than that, i'm not gonna say that it's a Speak Now 2.0 but, for me, it's definitely better than Red. 1989 is a different kind of hairbrush, dance-along songs for me but, yes - I love rep more. it's stronger and bolder and wiser than the stories from 1989. :)  i know, I'll have more to say as I listen and get to know the songs more. but CHEERS TO REPUTATION ERA. i'm excited to see how this era will unfold!!! and this is where this thread ends. :) thanks to all the ghosts who read this. lmao i'll go listen to the album again now.

Reputation
So I decided to review all of her albums! I really enjoyed Reputation whole-heartedly, I must say. So here we go!
Highest score: 🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍
1. ...Ready For It? // 🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍
Let me tell you, RFI DID NOT COME TO PLAY. What an opener for an album. I remember when I first heard this song, they played a snippet before it was released on some college football commercial and I just about fell out of my seat. I wasn’t the biggest fan of LWYMMD so hearing this was music to my ears! Still one of my favs off this album, no doubt. Pretty sure she’s talking about the beginning stages of the relationship she’s in now who she pretty much wrote a whole album for. Good for you Tay, good for you.
2. End Game // 🐍🐍🐍
So who would of ever thought we’d see Future on a Taylor Swift track? I was dumbfounded and curious all at the same time. Ed, a previous collaborator was a nice contribution but Future still sounds a little off. All together, this song is alright. I was never turning the volume up in excitement when it came on the radio and when it pops up on my shuffle, sometimes I do skip it. It’s a neat experiment but just okay for me. Lyrically, she’s just talking about being someone’s number one biotch, okay? She’s wants to be your A-team (an Ed reference which I thought was cute), we know who she’s talking about!
3. I Did Something Bad // 🐍🐍🐍🐍
This shit goes hard! My mouth nearly dropped to the floor on my first listen. Such a cool song, so different for her. Reputation was definitely her most darkest but daring album in her discography and this song is a prime example of that. She’s pretty much saying look, I mess up but it feels kinda good. I kind of like being the bad girl, alright KANYE!? just kidding. It could be about him, or about an ex-Lover. Who knows, bomb ass song though.
4. Don’t Blame Me // 🐍🐍🐍
Yet another unexpected club banger track from Taylor, this time she’s saying look, your love has me doing crazy things, it’s not my fault! Damn! It’s a pretty sweet song! My huge issue is this song resembles so much of Hoziers “Take Me To Church” instrumentals, that’s all I really think about when I hear this song, which sucks because I’ve always wanted to love it more. It’s still good, just some of the originality gets lost with every listen.
5. Delicate // 🐍🐍🐍🐍
Delicate was the first song on my first initial listen, that i vibed to the most. I really enjoy this song and how easy breezy it is. Taylor sounds smooth and collected and we can’t help but pay attention to the lyrics. Another song that sounds like the beginning of her relationship that she’s still in. She’s talking about how much she likes this guy and how he must really like her, considering all the negative attention she was getting from the press. It’s a chill song and still something I listen to everytime it comes on.
6. Look What You Made Me Do // 🐍🐍
Holy crap, this music video was dope. It was when badass Taylor came into the picture and we were all shocked and living for it at the same time. She is confronting all her haters, chanting how much she doesn’t like them and yea, she messed up but ya’ll did too. Where’s your ownership, huh? HA. Even though I did enjoy this side of her, the song was underwhelming for a first single. It’s funny because it’s rare that I actually liked any of her first singles. This was another disappointing start sonically , the lyrical content is juicy but still falls a little flat for me.
7. So It Goes... // 🐍🐍🐍🐍
Let me tell you, this track grew on me big time. When I first heard it, definitely was one of my least favorites, but now I jam out to it. It’s sexual, it’s fun, talking about scratching her mans back, Tay whattttt? I really like this song, time was on its side for sure.
8. Gorgeous // 🐍🐍🐍
When I found out Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lovely’s baby was the sweet little voice that started this number, I thought it was so cute! Put a little extra lovin’ in the song! The song is pretty straight forward, she thinks this mans hot when she’s already with someone else. Bad bad Taylor, she definitely was using that title for every reason in the book. Overall, it’s a simple cute song. Not a favorite, but I listen to it.
9. Getaway Car // 🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍
Hands down, favorite track on the album. I love love love this song so much, I lose my breath everytime it comes on. And for so many reasons too. The production and just everytime she works with Jack Antonoff, it’s pure gold. And the lyrical content man! She’s pretty much talking about a relationship that started out in jeapordy. They met when one of them was still seeing someone and she’s pretty much saying, look, this started out wrong and there will never be a happy ending for us so I have to chuck the dueces, okay!? Ugh and the last 30 seconds of the song have me going with that build up. Taylor did that with this song.
10. King of My Heart // 🐍🐍🐍🐍
Really love this song sonically! It’s the underdog of the album for sure and the lyrical content is pretty cute. Again, must be about the boyfriend she’s with now, cause he was really making her feel those butterflies in this song! Nothing really much to say, a very solid track.
11. Dancing With Our Hands Tied // 🐍🐍🐍
So this was one of those songs I started skipping in the beginning...until I started to really fall in love with the bridge. The song is actually quite beautiful, just not a huge fan of the production. But it definitely grew on me. The song is quite sad, talking about a relationship that will never work. She stripped this song down in her set on the tour, I liked it much better live.
12. Dress // 🐍
There’s always one on every Taylor album except 1989, that I dislike, and this track is it. Never connected with this song and I don’t know why. It’s definitely her most frisky song, basically talking about getting freaky with her lover. But I don’t know, nothing in this song works for me. Skip it all the time.
13. This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things //
🐍🐍🐍🐍
Woooowiiee! The first lingo we here from the most prominent diss track on the whole album. I enjoy the lyrics so much in this one. It’s fun, the production is all over the place and in the best way possible. Definitely a hand delivered diss to Kanye and Kim and she doesn’t give an F! Love this one!
14. Call It What You Want // 🐍🐍🐍🐍
In my opinion, the best ballad on the album, this is also I think the most beautiful song on the album as well. It’s very stripped and her voice is the most significant instrument in its entirety. She’s talking about how she stepped up and found herself someone who gets her, who accepts her for her past and realized all the shit she went through to finally be with someone like him. It’s raw for this album, but a standout for sure.
15. New Years Day // 🐍🐍
I never really understood why this is the closing track let alone on the album. It doesn’t sonically fit on here at all. Lyrically, the song is nice. To me, she’s talking about a relationship that is just beginning and how she has hopes for their future. It’s cute in some ways, but I felt like this was something that could’ve been out on Red.
Ultimately, Reputation killed the game. It’s a solid record and stands out from Taylor’s discography as her most experimental one to date! We like dark Taylor!!
