I was a fan of OFMD S1, like, loved it, hyperfixation central, but didn't get involved in fandom beyond tweeting a load of my own meta, then S2 happened, me and my friends just ADORED it, I came online looking for fandom, and it was like '...oh no what's happening'. Finding a few blogs like yours has been a lifeline because I WANT to do fannish things and talk about the show and do meta and suchlike, but there's this huge wave of 'nope nope nope' I've been trying to navigate and avoid. I've been doing fandom fuckery for like fifteen years, so I've seen a lot, and I've seen a lot of shit go down like this, but it still hurts when you have so much joy and love that you just want to share. One thing I will say, for anyone whose losing hope or feeling down, is that it does seem to be a few people being very loud on the internet - I went to comic con in London with a friend to meet some of the cast, and all of the conversations I had in auto/photo queues with other fans were extremely sensible, rational, people talking about how they loved the show, fanning together, and quite a few conversations that were like 'I don't understand what people on the internet are saying, it's really weird?'. Was chatting with someone cosplaying as Calypso's Birthday Izzy, and the topic of the finale came up, and my friend and I were bracing for what the response would be, and they were like 'oh I really loved it, broke my heart but so good, hope we get a season three!'. It's really stark to see the response in person, the level of love and adoration and joy around this show, that really doesn't match up with the internet experience I was having. Anyway, thanks for being a blog I could cling to as I try to find a place in this fandom, and helping be part of a space where people can express and share how much they love this show (and feel like we're not actually going mad for doing so).

one of the main reasons i continue to engage with shit takes etc is bc of the sheer amount of people who have sent asks/dms saying that they feel unable to post izzy critical content or they aren't enjoying engaging with the fandom bc of the amount of izzy-related weirdness that's going on

and it's important for people to be able to see that they're not alone, they're actually part of the majority, it's just that the minority are very good at yelling and harassing anyone who dares to post stuff they disagree with

(that sounds so wanky. i am fully aware i'm sitting on my couch and typing on the fandom website like i promise i'm not under any illusions that this is a whole Cause or anything i just. want folks to be able to post izzy critical meta in the izzy tag without getting bullied for it)

ofmd is an incredibly special show and the fandom is mostly a really nice friendly space with some great art and fics from some of the most talented people i've ever met and really insightful meta and beautiful gifsets and it's such a shame that the whole thing gets tainted by a few idiots

i haven't seen much support but as an ace person i'm SO glad you can feel that, i always think about how lonely we are in a community that should be celebrating? or rather accepting others for their sexulity/gender, but we are changing that

honestly, i get what you mean. it was such a surprise to see a good amount of ppl I follow reblogging posts saying “ace ppl are lgbt+ and if you disagree unfollow me” precisely because I don’t usually feel that sentiment online.

I think a lot of it is unintentional. like, people will reblog things thinking they’re lighthearted jokes, not spotting things that we do because we can recognise and be more hyperaware of the specific ways in which people devalue aces (including, ironically, making even us recognising and worrying about those things into a meme)

I spend more time on twitter than tumblr these days and exclusionism definitely still feels rife there, sadly.. I have 1000+ people blocked, without the help of a blocklist lmao. and i still feel it, so I get you.

i would say, for anyone who feels this way too:

don’t be shy with the block button!! for random users, i used to try give ppl the benefit of the doubt if they made an iffy tweet/post, give second or third chances. nope! no more. don’t even give them the chance to ruin your mood again. they’ll survive, often not even notice or realise, and your space just got that little bit safer.

unfortunately there are people who don’t bother to read or will just straight up ignore about/byf pages, but it’s always worth clearly stating u don’t want exclusionists to interact with/follow u. many ppl will look and listen, as it works for them too.

with friends, don’t be afraid to approach or talk to them about it. as i say above, some of it is just other ppl genuinely just don’t spot the aphobe/ace exclusionist dog-whistles we do.

when an online friend does say or reblog/retweet something exclusionary, i usually approach (privately in dms, ppl can get defensive if they feel confronted publicly) with something along the lines of “hey, this post you made/retweeted made me uncomfortable. i can explain more if you wanna hear it, but if you actually feel that way about aces i’m not comfortable being mutuals, so i hope we can just break the mutual on good terms”. this has a few possible outcomes: they maintain their point and break the mutual but do so at least respectfully and without a fuss, OR, you might just get them to hear you out! the latter has happened more with me than the former. ofc there is a chance they’ll be rude, but given you’re being calm/polite, they’d only be showing themselves to be the ass - and you don’t need “friends” like that anyway.

when ur tired and hurt and fed up of seeing exclusionism, talk to ur trusted friends about it! it really does make you feel so alienated from the community and lonely, so talking to my other ace & otherwise lgbt friends about it and having their support and love is the best thing and helps more than anything else, for me.

i know im not the most active ever, but im here if you ever wanna shoot me an ask or message to talk. you specifically, anon, or anyone else here. i promise you the support is there, it’s just sometimes the loud hate can drown it out, especially when ur already tired and hurting. but we’ll get there!!

I'm glad Callie and AJ are cool again. But I hope they don't start dating again. Sadly she will probably make up with Aaron. I just hope if she has to choose between them she should choose herself. I wish the writers would give us that. Of course I hope AJ and Callie friendship last. No dating. Just caring about each other and being there for each other.

I would like Callie to not date. That would be ideal. It sounds like they want to fix callie and aaron but honestly, realistically speaking, controlling boys can’t be fixed.

Absolutely. There’s no realism here. In what world would Stef invite monte to lena’s 40th? Like seriously nope. I assume both of these are from the same person. I don’t think it’s that many people, I think it’s one anon I have. I think you can love Sherri and not love everything she loves or does. It’s like with Teri, i love her but I am not watching that movie she made. I hate rape in movies, period. And, I don’t follow him, so I don’t see him unless someone tells me something. As long as people don’t tweet to him or Sherri about it, I don’t see what the issue is with people expressing an opinion on tumblr. I'm actually sorta obsessed with drawing tiny, dabbing figures right now because I just discovered an easy way to draw dabs and…well. It’s fun?)

AWW tysm! Tbh though I get the struggle. I hated all paints for the longest time because I also had no idea how to use brushes and control the amount of water I used and ended up with shapeless blobs or super runny pics (also I’ve never actually learned how to paint or draw…a couple of short lessons when I was really little, a month(?) of lessons around last year or the year before, that’s pretty much it. So idk how to do things really lol). But I sorta-recently got obsessed with watercolor paintings (SO PRETTY) and that’s why I started ‘practicing’ (AKA watching/reading a bunch of tutorials and trying my best to remember the few things I actually learned XD). I still can’t draw stuff just with watercolors though, I need to do a light pencil sketch and then color with paint.

OK that sounds so cool but problem: My phone is a super old flip phone that I’ve had since I was eight(?), so mobile games are a no XD and my parents probably wouldn’t buy me anything that costs money (they let me play simple free RP games and dating games on the internet since those are usually fairly innocent (I mean, it’s plot/character-based stuff, almost like a manga) but not anything too 'big’ you know? If I was old enough to buy games like that with my own money I don’t think they’d care tho, as long as I didn’t get obsessed with games or anything.)

Also just realized that I’m stupid and apparently forgot that I don’t have Steam. I was going to install it but can I ask you exactly what it is/how it works, first? I’m just kinda worried about randomly installing this since I don’t quite get it yet ^^;; (sorry I can be really, really stupid when it comes to stuff like this)

THAT’S SO CUTE. Let me recommend you a game too- a free RPG/Dating game called Ascension by ImpQueen! No download, you just go to ImpQueen and play it. There are three(?) chapters. The first chapter might not be that interesting compared to other games, but the game and the story keep getting more complex as you go on :D you also get new dateable characters every chapter and the MC, Aida, is AWESOME. Also, in chapter two and three you can actually customize the main cast’s appearances, like you’d do in a dress-up game! Another cool thing is that you get different 'personality points' depending on the things you say/do, and the amount of points you have for a certain personality can change the outcomes of certain situations.

It’s also really fun because other than the romance, the plot and Aida’s journey is super interesting too.

Funny thing is I thought I liked physical contact (like cuddling, hugging, hand-holding) but turns out that’s not the case XD I get super awkward when anyone who’s not my mom, dad, or my little sister/younger cousin touches me. Ah, that’s what makes it even more impressive! I mean, we had art in elementary school, but it was mostly the ‘learn stuff yourself’ kind of art. Needles to say, I didn’t learn a lot. But watercolours really are a nice way of painting, since they can have really vibrant colours, yet be serene at the same time. Most people I know who draw, watercolour or not, use sketches and references, so I don’t see anything wrong with that ^^ Just take your time to learn what you want ^^

Oh, I see! So, free, computer games for you… Well, right now, CP is the only one I can think of, but I’ll discover more in the future and share them with you when I do ^^ The only paid games I play are on my phone, since I’m too shy to ask my parents to but me otome games… I have 0 problems playing them on my own, but not a lot of people know that I play them.

Right, steam. It’s a gaming platform. Technically, it’s an app for the computer on which you can download games that are available in the steam store. Some are free, some are paid.

This is how the page looks. The little green button in the upper left corner is to download the app itself, and you’ll also need to create an account. You’ll need to give an email, but it’s only for account verification and to send you bills if you decide to buy anything. However, if you don’t buy anything, the email will mostly be useless after the verification. I mean, I don’t remember getting a spam email from them at all. After that, just go to the search bar, type Cinderella Phenomenon. And press play the game! It should automatically download the game to the steam app and you’re good to play ^^ No worries about asking questions! It’s actually admirable how you’re so careful around the internet ^^

5I have sleeping hours, I am on the west coast and not working. I am sleeping in!

I expected something, so I am not surprised. And I know Robert isn’t around much after this, so who cares in terms of my viewing pleasure.

The message is terrible, and I can’t stand it. It makes all the straights feel so smug. I don’t know where they are going with this. And clearly, to our horror, this is what they meant by return to family. It’s atrocious. Gabe is still 1000x worse to me, because they shoved him in their home and his role is clearly to be “the man." Ana as well. Let’s remember this woman has recently fallen off the wagon. Her kids were removed from her. She was legally deemed not be able to take care of kids. Till they’re adults, they shouldn’t even be around her, Stef and Lena risk their own custody by exposing them to someone who has been deemed unable to take care of kids. Oh, and she fell off the wagon by hanging out with a drinking Gabe. Guess what she was doing last episode.. yep.

I do think that all those kids need a firm hand right now. As we saw in the preview, she has Lena’s soft touch. I really liked Lena reassuring Callie by putting her hand on her leg. They don’t want to push her out. I think in some ways, Callie’s still pushing them to see if they want her out. She assumes they are going to send her away when she fucks up. She always does. The most important thing for Callie is that her moms choose her. That they continue to choose her because they love her, not because they share DNA. And once she gets that in her head, her life will improve. I would love to see Lena getting closer to Callie. Maia said that Stef and Lena keep a closer eye on her this season. We’ll see.

Yes, incredible! This show is so reality loving as I am told on twitter lol At least this is a coincidence that will bring mama drama and Mariana drama.

Ok, on IMDB, the actress is shown to be in 5 episodes. Now, not all the info on IMDB is correct before the show airs. There are some things you can weed out as wrong. They still have Mike as a regular and they added AJ. BTS alone tells you that is wrong. Sometimes minor characters appear to be in ever ep, also wrong. Annika is usually on top of her IMDB so she’ll put in all her eps pretty early. That’s why despite the fact that she wasn’t spotted in ep 9, or told the world as she usually does, she probably is in it.

Now, the actress who plays Tess is listed as being in 5 and those episodes that are listed, we have evidence of her presence in at least 4 of them. So, it’s accurate. 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9. Evidence proves 2,3,5 and 9.
