Thinking more Thoughts about Skirk and Tartaglia and while he does seem to have had a drastic personality change while in the abyss, I personally enjoy the interpretation that Tartaglia was always Like That. It was always just kind of simmering beneath the surface, maybe not fully developed yet, but definitely there. He ran away from home for a reason, after all! It was too monotonous for him! He wanted something more! An adventure, a great battle! Literally all he took with him was a bag of bread and a weapon!

And Skirk was the first one to not only drag all that out of him, to see all these pieces of Tartaglia that he wasn't really sure about yet, but she embraced it (she "nurtured the ability to stir up endless havoc from within Ajax's trouble-mongering nature" according to canon), and that helped him to embrace it and sharpen it in turn.

So when they do finally reunite, and she of course calls him Ajax because that was how she knew him back then, I love the thought of Tartaglia noticing he strangely doesn't feel the need to correct her. He maybe tells her later that he changed his name when he became a Fatui Harbinger, because she would notice everyone addressing him differently from her, but it's just to state a fact. He doesn't tell her that she needs to call him "Tartaglia" too. Because the name change had been meant as a new start and a new path, something different and further away from the legend his father had named him after, but Skirk was the one person to see Ajax as he really was and not only fully accept, but encourage it. So he finds he doesn't mind it when she uses his old name. It's ok when it's coming from her. ♡

There are just SO MANY bugs I could talk about and this is from someone who hasn't ever considered studying bugs. However I think I'll pick something that just mostly gets looked over, not really hated or loved.

I have a special spot in my heart for fish flies/mayflies.

I always thought their wings were pretty! They're clear but also just a little iridescent. And they're completely harmless to people so I was never afraid to pick them up when I was a kid to get a closer look. Something I'm sure the poor things did NOT appreciate LOL

Where I grew up we used to get so many it was impossible to go anywhere without accidentally squishing a bunch. I remember them covering the windows at the local 7-11. Any given building there'd just be like a hundred of them.

They're small and cute (to me I know their long ass bodies are weird to a lot of people LOL) and don't really do a whole lot. But to me they mean childhood. They mean summer. They mean playing outside and ice cream trucks and swimming and car rides and exploring and learning. I just like them.

I miss how many bugs we used to have.

I have honestly thought of this for a stupid long time. Given that Cindy is basically Cid’s baby girl and has been protective of her since she was born; more so after her parents’ parting. She is literally the only family he has left, so there’s some high level of protectiveness going on. Sure, he knows she can take care of herself and can no doubt put the hurt on someone if they step out of line, but still, he’s always going to be there for that added support in her corner. That being said, let's get to it. Also, you could ask Cid directly over at mastermechaniic ( totally not a shameless plug ) but it's cool x3 Hennyway...

Prompto:

I think right out of the gate, Cid would give Prompto a hard time, knowing from jump that he had a crush on Cindy. But it's mostly in a lighthearted "hazing" kinda way. Writing him opposite @battleshot is pretty fun as it seems Cid thrives on getting those nervous reactions out of him, it makes Prom seem more genuine in his eyes. He honestly thinks it's too wholesome for words and may also think Prom might not be able to handle a woman like Cindy ( We know this to be false as Prom is very capable owo ) but does see them as a good match.

Gladio: 

Ok tbh If Cid caught the way Gladdy was trying to flirt with Cindy the first time they met, on sight he'd snatch that boy up with the quickness. I think Gladio kinda reminds Cid of himself in his younger younger, and not in the most positive way. However, there's also that slight inner conflict given his connection and friendship with Clarus. Like, he knows Gladio is a good kid, that he's intelligent and would probably be as protective over Cindy as he is, but, ya know there's probably gonna be that "I'm watchin' you O.o" vibe for a little bit. And as I'm typing this, I'm not sure if I've really bugged @strictomiles with Paw-Paw yet.... should get on that XD

Ignis: 

Not as apprehensive as the rest of the boys. It’s safe to say that Iggy has garnered some brownie ( kinda pun kinda intended) points in the beginning. Knowing Ignis seems to be the more level-headed one out of the bunch ( also considering @tenebriism has occasionally.. I wouldn't say bribed Cid with desserts on Wire buuuuuut I'm not gonna say it's not a good strategy either >.> ) it puts his mind more at ease in a way. Also given how dedicated they both are to their professions, and how they carry that level of loyalty and drive, to him it just makes sense when it happens. But Iggy's still gonna get the talk cause everyone gets the talk x3

All in all, the main takeaway is while he knows Cindy can handle her own relationships, both the good and bad that come with it. What he is more hesitant about with the Chocobros is the consideration of their fealty to the crown. Working for the Lucian House in the past, knowing the path they're on and the sacrifices they might have to make, including the possibility of them dying in service to it. I think that's the kind of pain he doesn't wish Cindy to go through again. However, it does give him some comfort knowing there could be someone for Cindy when he himself has to leave her.

Ok but in true ask tradition! :U im hijacking this ask to talk about a dumb theory thats been rolling around in my head for like 2 years now: android 16 and broly similarities:

Ok so. If you aren't aware. The android arc of dragon ball was originally going to focus on the androids 19 & 20 and trunks even names them specifically

But Toriyamas former editor, Kazuhiko Torishima, didn't like them as the main antagonists and so Toriyama changed it to focus on 17 & 18 as the bad guys and introduced 16 as a sort of mystery

Now. This gets almost completely dropped once that same former editor ALSO doesn't like these androids and cell becomes the main villian for the arc (yeah yeah, the bomb thing is technically *there*, but its so inconsequential most people forget its even a thing :T )

So. Idk exactly when movie 8 went into production, but we know Brolys LSSJ form was inspired by trunks SSJ grade3 form that appears several chapters after cell has been introduced and the androids have become power-up fodder, so im gonna argue its safe to say the decision to move away from their story had been made

(side tangent that I find absolutely hilarious btw- despite gokus commentary in the HTC, SSJ grade 3 was the strongest form of ssj we saw at this point, so its pretty appropriate to use it as the basis of the strongest scariest ssj form.... rrriiiiiiiiggght up until toriyama introduced SSJ2 on Feb 2, 1993- near exactly 1 month before the first Broly movie hit theaters. Completely undermined what, up til then, looked like a trend in stronger form = bigger and beefier right as the big beefy strongest guy ever movie came out 🤣 absolutely love it!)

So anyways. The movies overall also tend to have varying degrees of similarities with recent arcs in the show and Toriyama, while not overly involved, would give the studio designs and story notes. And. Idk. Yall can tell me im reaching if ya want, but: A guy who's made into a weapon by his father who's on a quest for revenge and has this conflicting view of his son as both someone he feels he failed to protect, someone he cares about, but also as a tool for that revenge, and someone who's destructive power hes become deeply afraid of.. now where have we seen somethin like that 🤔 may be an extra reach but I also think its neat that despite their different face shape, Toriyamas gave em the same expression

Lol they're also both just ridiculously tall bastards. Like for no gd reason. And yeah, to me atleast, it explains why hating goku specifically gets shoehorned into brolys backstory (listen I can absolutely do the mental gymnastics to make it make sense! I'm fine with it! Its fine! I actually like it! ... but it IS a dumb shoehorned plot point! Both things can be true D:< ) look just lookit these tall ass shits

Anyway. My last note is just this statement from Toriyama about 16 and Gero. The way gero is presented is really in line with how I see Paragus as this tragic failure of a father- honestly caring about his kid, but letting grief and revenge drive him into conflicting corners where he wants revenge FOR the life denied his son, but also actively shaping his son into such a terrifying weapon that ultimately hed rather his kid just never be conscious cause thats the 'only way to keep them safe'

“Dr. Gero’s son who died young a long time ago served as the visual model for Android 16. He was a high-ranking soldier for the Red Ribbon Army but was shot down by the enemy. Hero is the kinda autistic that cannot absorb any information about their special interests. He just starts happy stimming and pointing excitedly at the thing, but cannot answer a single thing about his interests that aren't some very basic information. He'll also tell you the same facts over and over cuz he keeps forgetting them, and tells you again when he finds it.

If Contra stays inside for too long, they'll start getting restless and irritable. He's an outsy guy, he needs to go out and just fool around for their brain to stay happy and calm. Going out and exploring is also their go-to for when they need to decompress or have some problem they want to avoid. Sometimes they stay out for days on end.

Cold has no spatial awareness and will walk right onto walls and tables. They're also very hyposensitive, tho, so she barely notices it. Has all kind of objects stuck in its big-ass wings cuz it doesn't even try to avoid hitting stuff with them, and always more than a few purple marks on his body from everywhere he hit it.

Paranoid is terrified of dolls and most plushies, but plushies that have no eyes/the eyes are closed are very comforting for her. Has lots of sleeping animals with her, and some food plushies.

Skeptic cannot cook. Just didn't think it was an usefull skill to learn since he prefers ready-to-digest food anyway, and is hopeless in the kitchen. Often skips full meals unless someone (Hunted or Smitten) forces him to eat.

Smitten's vision isn't all that great, but he forgones glasses cuz it feels uncomfortable over his puffy feathers. Wears contacts once he learns about those, but before, he just kinda trusted his friends to keep him from walking into too much danger.

Cheated cannot feel her detachable arm at all. It's like a phantom limb, except the limb is right there and she can still move it. The cut off spot hurts during rains and colder seasons.

Broken is the kinda person to go from reading cute and cozy slice-of-life, to the most unsettling psychological horror known to men. Finds both comforting in different ways.

Stubborn is color blind. I have no reasoning for this other than I think it's a neat trait to throw at him.

To contrast Hunted, Oppy has a terrible sense of smell. Which is probably why he can handle to put on the most eye-watering perfumes known to men.

Hunted is great at predicting the weather, and often advices others about staying at home a little longer or taking an umbrella and some extra food if they get stuck.
