yes, really. i’m serious.

there’s this weird, almost disturbing obsession with the tightest pussy/biggest dicks, especially in the fanfiction circles i seem to find myself in. sure, it’s all fantasy. write for yourself. i’m also slightly guilty of that as well in that i write my preferences. but i do it with a realistic understanding of the statements above.

maybe i’m just getting old and boring, or it comes down to my own experiences. but often the most popular fics on my dash feel so unrealistic that it pulls me out of it and i have to ask, “is that normal? is it even possible? am i more clueless than i thought?”

and the answer is no, i’m probably not clueless, but fanfiction is just that: fiction. it can be so easy to get wrapped up in things that aren’t real that we question ourselves or our work unnecessarily.

maybe those popular works that make me question myself or my ability to write smut well represent someone’s experiences, but they certainly don’t represent mine. and that’s okay. i most often choose to portray what i know with certainty is or can be real.

i want smut that’s awkward and sometimes imperfect, smut where someone gets off too early or maybe not at all, smut that doesn’t talk about “size kink this, manhandling that, abs and v lines and tummy bulges, he came three times and kept going, she squirted everywhere until she couldn’t see straight,” bullshit.

like. am i crazy?

i can’t be the only fic writer who feels this way.

I think she would be an avid croc hater

I mean, she works in a lab, closed toe shoes. They’re not very practical for experimentation or any thing else

Plus her other outfit is goddess apparel or old hag.

I just can’t see her enjoying them whatsoever. They clash with her whole vibe.

If offered, Miri would most surely wrinkle her nose and scoff at the very notion.

“Ugh. Begone, mortal. The day you goad me into those atrocities of footwear is the day I surrender my subconscious to the megamycete,” Mother Miranda waves you off with a flick of a taloned hand.

Mia left a pair in the lab once and she tried them on. They remind her.

Salvatore Moreau

Fish man!

Moreau would be a huge fan.

Seriously, he lives in constant sogginess. A pair of shoes that can fit his deformed and damp feet would be welcome.

He pads around the reservoir in crocs all the fricking time

Over time, the sound of the rubber squelch becomes associated with his approach.

He would be gifted his first pair, but soon amass a bit of a collection- his favorites are the blue pair and the black one, but he’s also got green.

(In the church) *squish squish squish squosh squish* “hi, mother!” Moreau garbles. “Like ‘em?” He asks, gesturing to the tye dye crocs currently adorning the lower half of his slimy body.

He doesn’t wear them in public after Mother Miranda glared at them though

He was approached by his nieces with a pair of solid black crocs, and they were too insistent for him to deny them entirely.

Heisenberg thinks they’re fine, simply not his cup of tea though.

“Fuck!” The lord curses, his voice echoing against the metal walls of the factory for the fiftieth time. “Damn pieces of junk.” Heisenberg mutters after dropping a piece of scrap onto his croc bearing toes once more.

Alcina Dimitrescu

No.

Just no.

Absolutely not.

Lady Dimitrescu , the countess, the favorite of Mother Miranda, mother of three, would not be caught dead in such apparel.

It’s less that she has an issue with their design, and much more that she’s disgusted with the thought of looking so undignified.

She wouldn’t be threatening anyone when she whips her crocs into sports mode before unsheathing her mighty claws.

Alcina doesn’t mind them on others, but not her. She’s a noble lady and far above such peasantry.

Also they don’t make them in her shoe size.

“What…” she drawls, looking scornfully down at the maiden presenting her with such blatantly hideous shoes, “are those?”

Donna Beneviento

The dollmaker and illusionist ~

Donna is chill, I’d imagine she wouldn’t have too strong an opinion on crocs

She owns a pair in black and likes to wear them around her workshop

They’re quite comfy, and since she’s not always on her feet, they serve as very nice house slippers

She likes to pair them with fluffy socks to really get the full coziness effect

Besides, her skirt is long enough where they’re not really noticeable

A quiet melody sways within the air of Lady Beneviento’s workspace. Humming to herself as she worked and Angie looked over her shoulder. Dexterous hands wield pliers to work the last bit of wire into the joints of her newest creation. And as a finishing touch, a mini croc is slid onto this doll. A small smile quirks her lips beneath the veil.

“I want some!” Angie shrieks once she sets eyes on the crocs.

Bela Dimitrescu

The eldest of the flies, and the blondest

Bela follows in her mother’s footsteps on this one, she despises crocs.

She simply doesn’t see the appeal.

They’re rubber, they’re not particularly fashionable, and they clash with the lace of her dress.

Eyeing her sister up and down, Bela just scoffs judgmentally before walking away.

Daniela Dimitrescu

Our delulu queen <3

She is the biggest crocs person ever.

She absolutely loves them, much to her sister and Mother’s dismay.

Dani just thinks they’re the coolest thing ever

You don’t have to lace them, there’s different modes, and you can decorate them??? What more could you ask for!

She had a whole wardrobe. I think she had every color. Depending on the occasion, she mixes and matches.

Dani is also big on jibbitz.

“Look!” The ginger squeals excitedly as she swarms into a maid’s face. “It’s a fly!” Dani says with a delirious giggle, shoving the new charm into the frightened woman’s vision.

Cassandra Dimitrescu

The ravenette of the trio

Cassie likes crocs a normal amount

She doesn’t own her own pair of course, the only reason she ever wears them is to snatch them from Dani and make her mad

She also delights in how Bela and her mom glare down at her whenever she wears them

All in all, Cass doesn’t wear them as a fashion choice, she wears them for the drama

“Hehehe, you’re coming with me,” Cassandra whispers to herself as she steals Daniela’s prized flamingo print crocs from her room.

I try so hard to avoid certain parts of the fandom (you will never catch me on stranger things Reddit and like 80% of stranger things Instagram) for SO many reasons but one of the main reasons is the dislike for Barb

honestly, the dislike typically borders on a pure hatred for the character and I honestly don't get it. so many people excuse the Barb hate by waving their hand and saying "she was only alive for three episodes" as if this fact completely dismisses her importance to the overarching story of season 1 and 2

Barb, her friendship and death, is one of the most important parts of Nancy's storyline? throughout every season? so many people water Nancy down to the love triangle when in reality one of, if not her biggest, arcs in the show is losing Barb and struggling with the survivors guilt afterwards. her survivors guilt and overall grief over Barb is highlighted in every single season and has been shown to influence her actions over and over again (like when she instantly has Fred come investigate Chrissy's murder with her in season 4)

I don't know where I'm going with this post but I'm sick and tired of people in the fandom discarding Barb like she never mattered, meanwhile, the same people will obsess over Eddie despite his genuine lack of importance as a character to the plot/show in general (do not get me wrong, I like Eddie. it is just undeniable that his character role could've easily been filled by Steve or Jonathan)

Since Twitter might not be a thing for much longer I wanted to move the trivia threads for my picture books to tumblr.

OC lore dump and sketches for my first self-published picture book Hurricane Lane under the cut;

The number one thing I'm worried about is people thinking my book is related to the hurricane of the same name. I wrote this in 2010-2011 which predates it and the title is meant to convey Amelia's life in her suburban town and how she views it more dramatically then it is.

The name was also inspired by this beautiful song by The Hush Sound which I was listening to a lot whilst concepting and really influenced aesthetics (more subdued colour, the inclusion of the piano being an important story point etc).

I started getting interested in children's illustration when I saw the Penguin Design Competition advertised at my uni in 2010. I didn't make the cut but figured I'd go ahead and finish my book anyway because at that point I was invested in my story and wanted to complete it.

The contest called for an ebook with interactive pages so I made Hurricane Lane have seven special pages of  'wonders' Amelia finds throughout her story. Unfortunately with flash player gone the interactions don't play but they're still found online here;

I based Amelia's design on a Mii I had made which was supposed to represent a human Pikachu. You can see the Mii on the bottom left here. I really liked how it looked and she gradually evolved into what she is today.

Initially the dinosaur suit that her brother has was going to be worn by Amelia but I preferred her without it and thus Bailey was born. The dinosaur itself was based on a purple stegosaurus keyring I had when I was younger and loved even though I had no keys at the time.

Here are some more initial outfit designs for Amelia but in the end I went with the one on the right, inspired by Miku Hatsune's 'Out and About' module from Project Diva.

The family's father Rupert was partly based on my own dad (definitely the dress sense) but in 2010 I was also really obsessed with the BBC show Merlin and may have tried to age up Colin Morgan a bit to make this character.

The mother's design was a little based on my own Mother's and a little the title character of the film Amelié (she evolved beyond this quite early so there's not too striking a resemblence). I was also obsessed with the music in that film which inspired this book a lot.

I kept it vague whether she worked at the hospital or was staying there as a patient because at the time I had an idea for an overarching narrative where the families of Hurricane Lane and 256 Postcards Ago meet. This didn't pan out so feel free to have your own interpretation.

Here's some initial concepts of the logo which I was mostly scribbling during my Uni classes.

One more random tidbit is that I based the background of their journey home from the Toad's Turnpike track in Mario Kart 64. I really loved that game and it holds a lot of childhood memories for me so the nostalgia felt fitting. Maybe that's too weird to mention!

Towards the end I was concepting the protagonists of Hurricane Lane and 256 Postcards Ago meeting in a connecting rpgmaker game but sadly that never came to be. I'll talk about it more in my thread for the next book though!

Why I don't like the "finish the story" storyline:

Seth vs Drew has also been pushed aside for "the story" despite Drew's great heel work. They should be maineventing Night 1.

By doing this they're definitely making Seth's championship look secondary. They have a workhorse champion more focused on helping someone else win a championship to be on another show than pay attention to his own opponent and his own championship match.

He's even willing to lose his title to help someone else. That doesn't make him a hero that makes him a fool. 🤷🏾‍♀️

This tag match is unnecessary. He doesn't need to main event two matches. This reminds me of when they would do co-main events at PLEs just do give Cody's matches that status.

Made no sense.

Jey vs Jimmy:

Jey left The Bloodline to be on his own but instead he became Cody's sidekick and the twins big match is more about Cody. Just look what happened on SmackDown Friday. It should only be about the twins. Why is Seth and Cody involved in their business?

Plus this unnecessary tag match involving this storyline has pushed aside the women's matches too. Bayley vs Iyo or Rhea vs Becky should be a main event match on Night 1 if they didn't give it to Drew vs Seth.

And with all of that the storyline is just unoriginal but they're pushing it to the moon by constantly mentioning Dusty. Even at the Hall of Fame ceremony, showing Cody every chance they get. 🙄 If it was anyone else, fans would say it's being shoved down their throats.

I'm just saying it's just too much and it's uninteresting boring story. Plus this is basically a nepotism story but fans only get upset about nepo babies when it's wrestlers they don't like. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Fandom vs Canon

I think it's also something that I feel like isn't talked about enough: The fanfiction characters are no longer the show characters. How do I word this where it makes sense... Basically, Sterek was so prevalent in the fandom and became such a big thing that it took on a life of it's own. Just like, in my opinion, at some point some ships aren't even saying it could happen in canon and they don't even care about canon anymore and all that matters is these 2 characters that I love falling in love with each other. This is shown really well with crossover fics where someone has these wildly different fandoms that they mesh together simply because of their love for 2 characters. (For example, I used to be really into HP rare pair crossover fics, the more obscure the better, and I saw an HP x Transformers fic. Harry Potter and *Transformers.* Like, some people just want to watch their favs interact even if that would makes no sense in canon).

I think Sterek is a case where 2 characters that fans really love happened to be in the same show, thus making it the biggest ship to come out of the fandom. It's not about if the show was queerbaiting us, or if fans were reading too much into scenes- or at least it's not only about that. It's about the love fans had for Stiles and Derek separately and their dynamic together and their want for them both to have a happy ending so why not together? Basically, to quote an AO3 tag, "I took canon out back and shot it" and any variation of that sentiment.

  This isn't even just a Sterek thing. Other wildly popular non-canon ships like JohnLock and Destiel have also, like I said of Sterek, taken on a life of their own. They have become almost this sub-fandom or even a completely separate fandom from their source material. And I just think that's something to think about when judging ships and their fandoms because are you judging their canon relationship or are you judging their sometimes entirely different fandom created relationship?
