i haven't drawn any kieflo stuff in awhile so here's so doodles inspired by me realizing how long florian's hair would be when it isn't styled into the chunky twists i usually draw him with.
[ transcription for the comics below the cut bc my handwriting can be hard to read rip ] ⤵
PART 01
FLORIAN : Oh, Kieran! You're already here?
FLORIAN : Sorry, I guess I should've mentioned it was a wash day. It's gonna take me a little longer to get ready. ( You can wait in my room if you want. )
KIERAN : Dazokie... ( W-Wowzers. )
FLORIAN : Huh?
PART 02
FLORIAN : I've still got a few things to do with my hair, but you can sit wherever or have a look around if you like!
KIERAN : T-thanks. ( Pardon the intrusion. )
KIERAN, thinking : Ugh, I really hope he didn't notice how red my face is.
Florian walks into the bathroom's door frame with a loud WHAM!
KIERAN, thinking : Actually, I think I'm in the clear... ( Guess he isn't wearing his contacts. )
KIERAN : You okay?
FLORIAN, off-screen : Y-yeah...

omfg chara is the funniest mother fucker in the whole room. i never realized just how badly i need chara and asriel on good terms content where they just joke around. like, oh my god, they're besties!
like we do get snippits of it in the comic but the plot is always barreling down at full speed so we just don't have time for them to be silly. happy to say the redraw absolutely fixes this.

chrysigil is also very fascinating because this is probably… the only situation chrysi’s been in where she is not The most important person to her s/o. she probably doesn’t even realize that she’s accustomed to being the center of attention—and with gil, she tries to ignore how much that throws her off (and tbh, upsets her to some degree) by making her relationship with him some sort of game. she’s just lost the person that means the most to her in the world (and the person that literally viewed her as The Person For Him. azure would give up his soul if it meant chrysi was happy), so with gil, she’s just distracting herself. having fun. flirting with him and making him blush. it’s fine that she’s never going to have a deep relationship with him—it’s fine, really. she doesn’t mind. everything is lighthearted and fun!
but the thing is, gil starts caring for her genuinely (oz is helping because of course the only way gil realizes he cares is via oz…) and suddenly it’s really hard for chrysi to make this lighthearted. it scares her. she doesn’t want this—because above all else, she doesn’t want to lose it. if she never has it in the first place, then she can’t be anxious about gil putting oz above her or losing gil entirely. she tries to make it clear to gil that she’s not someone to worry about (acknowledging oz is always going to be gil’s priority), she’s incredibly independent (she’s not going to let gil in because she doesn’t want to deal with any additional heartache), and, most importantly, she’s already tried out “true love” and it burned her—why bother with trying to be a couple with gil officially? (he won’t ever be azure for her).
i mean, i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: how does chrysi fall in love again—try someone new—after having been with azure? the whole new dynamic is hard for her.

... CRIME THEMED SENTENCE STARTERS : “ is this your idea of laying low ? ” @batfall .
being in gotham always seems to bring out the worst in humanity . with its high crime rates and corruption ... a storm always lingering heavy in the air -- as if the whole city is being sucked into a blackhole . suffocating all of the city , slowly and painfully . the world is normally cruel , but the city itself is unstable . the ration between the corrupt and innocent is heavily imbalanced . crime is most often encouraged and for mia ? it hardly makes much of a difference . there isn’t much that can differentiate between mia and the rest of the criminals and crime lords . yes , she adds too the chaos ( though it was her own special brand of chaos that might seem a little different . ) not many can find a home here , of course , no one sane would ... that’s why the minority is the innocent , and why folks like herself thrive among the chaos .
it’s almost like clockwork -- how her arrival sparks the the rats to crawl out from the gutter . being in a city that is essentially like a utopia for the crime driven men [ who have egos the size of the statue of liberty , and suffer from tiny dick syndrome ... ] it’s difficult to keep a low profile here , what with how the name ‘ fixer ’ falls off everyone’s tongues . though if mia truly wanted to keep off everyone’s radar . she knows she’s capable of doing just that . if you just so happen to catch a glimpse of the woman in black -- then it might just be the very last thing you see at all ( and of course , there are worse ways to die . ) it isn’t always a random act of violence , more often than not she has a reason to be here . whether it be a lead , a target , or a unique situation that brought the fixer here . she more or less tends to be working here , and no , that doesn’t always include ‘ laying low ’ ...
mia breathes heavy as she throws an unconscious man on the ground . one of the last bozo’s who tried killing her ( though not entirely his fault ... he was only doing what the don told him to do : show her what we do to people who want to try and stop the family . ) “ no , actually ... my idea of layin’ low is havin’ a cold beer and watching trash television till my eyes bleed . ” sardonic tone drips from her lips as her body then turns to face the masked anti - hero . “ and as we can both see , toto isn’t in brooklyn dorothy . ” dark brows crinkle at the middle of her nose , “ you’re a grown as man weain’ a costume , and last i checked it ain’t halloween . so i don’t think you’re one to judge about layin’ low . ”

sitting in my room for a half hour thinking about how if we lived in a better world Ada Wong would be the Ilsa Faust of Resident Evil (primarily in how she's introduced in Rogue Nation), with a dynamic to leon not unlike Fujiko Mine's and Lupin's in which they are both extremely competent and in situations in which they may have to work against and occasionally with each other on a mission, but ultimately are forced to stay apart and while they may be apart and even have different love interests from each other, ultimately still care deeply for one another. They are compelled to go after each other in part because it's so difficult and they are so often in circumstances in which they can't be with each other. The thrill of the chase and all that.
Ada being only tangentially related to the other character's stories because the world is simply larger than them and she has her own concerns and problems to deal with, and to have that be given any care or weight in a story, let alone focus. That she can be cunning and even manipulative but because she needs to and will still choose not to when the chips are down because she is genuinely caring--which I know none of that is new ground for her but I wish it was done in a more interesting way and *without leon at all*. She chooses to show mercy in a key point not because she's in love with that other character.
And also that she has more personality. I dig the subdued nature of her in 4r and her subtle sarcasm but it's just crumbs. I want her to be silly on occasion and say dumb jokes because she's alone like in 2r. I want her to shed a bit of that seriousness when she's on the clock because she's confident in herself as a professional and again has no one to put up a façade to.
It's honestly kinda embarrassing reading this back as I realize most of what I'm writing is not only already present in the games but incredibly tropey in and of itself, and wouldn't improve the character much. Dear god I think too much of my view of the character has been marred by shallow fanworks depicting her. I think if anything it's a sign that:
I'm a shit writer and need to do way more than watch movies and gesture vaguely at them to come up w a decent story or character (that being said as much as I prefer Fallout as a film, I stand by my earlier statement of Ilsa Faust being the ideal spy woman as she's depicted in Rogue Nation as she has a distinct set of goals and needs that are complex and developed largely tangentially to the protagonist's, at least initially).
It's going to take a completely new approach to her character to get something remotely interesting and that takes advantage of her potential.
For as mired in tropes as she and every other character and story in Resident Evil is, Ada could be far more memorable and enjoyable if only there was more care and effort to giver at least some interests and goals (perhaps even...characterization) on her own other than being a sexy love interest and potentially traitorous (as so many femme fatales already are).
