“I feel my style is ever changing. Today I did not want to go back to wearing any puffers, so I decided on this Schott leather jacket. Though I love the color, I was not yet used to its length and texture. But I've felt more comfortable after pairing it with my favorite Comme des Garcon pants, which was my very first secondhand designer purchase. You can see my desire for warmer weather on the inside with a red mesh long sleeve and the Issey Miyake pleat shirt.“

Here’s the modern outfits I was talking about the other day! I wish I knew how to sew bc I’d totally wear these dresses. 😭
Now I wanna design dresses for other characters like Qi Rong, Shi Qingxuan and Pei Ming. Idk why I like those three so much but I do. 🤷🏻‍♀️
If anyone wants to use any of my designs please tag me bc I’d love to see what y’all make!! 💕💕💕
There’s an alternate version with more glitter and concept sketches under here! vvv
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I couldn’t decide on if I wanted Hua Cheng’s dress to have a bodycon skirt or one that flows more. I ended up going with the flowy one because I like how the skirt is pleated & loose. The texture looks more interesting to me. I also like the ribbons that help hold the dress together. I need to stop now sorry for gushing over this dress so much. 💀💀
Xie Lian’s dress is supposed to have a lotus on the torso. Idk how well that translated into the design. It was originally just going to be white, but I ended up taking the blue from his official design and played with the brightness so the lotus would stand out more. Ofc the blue ribbon reflects the one he has in his official design.
Aaaand ofc they have matching silver butterfly hair clips. Their jewelry also matches Hua Cheng’s boot chain thingies.
I really like how these designs turned out so I can’t stop talking about them… sorry! 😭

Amazon is ramping up promotions for s2.
I love love love love Suroth’s outfit. The western style kimono, the pleats, the beautiful colors and patterns, her headpiece…
Ishamael still looks like a modern if highly fashionable business man who wandered on set.
I wonder if all Aiel viels will have that texture and detailing. It would make sense, the veils are incredibly important to them- they’ll fight naked except for the scarf.

Out and about | New York City, NY | September 8, 2023
Foundrae 'Sister Hook Choker' - $6,365.00 Foundrae 'Forever & Always A Pair Oval Pendant' - $1,450.00 Sandy Liang ‘Paris Skort’ - $625.00 Louis Vuitton 'Camera Box Bag’ - $3,450.00 Gucci 'Half Horsebit Almond Toe Boots' - $905.42
One thing I love about this outfit is the tension of shapes and textures. The soft, angular swoop of her asymmetric top, knife pleats of her skort, and the sharp boxy lines of her LV camera bag all create certain, strong lines. These all work in direct contrast to the mussed, textured curls we see here that prevent it all from being too put together and polished.
I’m not one to look a gift skort in the mouth, so I won’t be reading into the “Paris” Easter Egg of it all. Especially one as chic as this. Any outfit defined by some sharp pleats and black is perfect in my books.
Let us instead admire how the confidence of an inner pair of shorts has given us all the gift of Taylor’s killer legs thanks to short hemlines.
If I had to, and could, copy and paste an outfit in its entirety on my body from recent Taylor history - it would be this one. At my core, I’m a girl who loves neutrals and polish served with a side of edge. And you all know I’m a proponent of the sandwich style (that is, to match two elements of an outfit between a contrasting colour).
Just add a blazer and we’re golden.
Get the look: Emory Park skort, $56.00 and Gap boots, $134.00

alana champion style guide
Requested by the lovely @lazylace7 (ily) here's a guide to American model Alana Champions style
First off, we have tank tops. She seems to favour a simple style and her wide collection of tank tops reflect that. These are a staple in her wardrobe and she wears multiple different colours and patterns. Mainly in lighter shades.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Where to buy: Brandy Melville, New Look, Diesel, Primark, Hollister, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren all offer a wide range of basic and sometimes more creative tank tops
Jean shorts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another simple piece of clothing, Jean shorts add to her summery laid back style. She wears a mix of dark wash, ribbed and low cut shorts.
Where to buy: Diesel, Primark, Hollister, Levis and Miu Miu. I recommend buying Jean products second hand due to the immense amount of waste they produce.
Dresses
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lighter colours and sometimes off the shoulder looks. Either ones that cling to the body or looser looks with bell sleeves
Specifc dresses that remind me of these
Blue Crush Slip Dress from Wolf and Badger (for dress 2)
ASOS DESIGN lace detail mini dress with tiered skirt in dobby from ASOS (dress 5)
White Textured Milkmaid Mini Dress from New Look (dress 5)
Plunge Pleated Mini Dress from Abercrombie and Fitch (dress 1)

Although she does seem to prefer to be barefaced, she definitely does have some very good makeup looks.
How to replicate: Lots of pink blush, natural brows, pale brown and red eyeshadow with a bit of smudged eyeliner at the bottom, curled lashes and mascara, glitter on the inner eye, pink or pinky red glossy lips.
Sunglasses

So sunglasses are basically my favourite thing ever. I love finding them in vintage shops and petrol stations and pretty much anywhere. Miss Champion definitely has an extensive and cool collection
Where to buy: Miu Miu, Ysl, Bershka, New Look, Stella McCartney, Primark and Moschino
Hair

Random thoughts on my TNG rewatch:
So neat to see the costumes in more detail than on the crappy tvs of my childhood — so many pleats and textures! My favourite are Picard’s casual clothes (like his outfit in “Starship Mine” and Riker’s shiny blue shirt.
Love the dynamic between Crusher and Picard in the middle/late seasons. She enjoys teasing him so much. It’s great.
Poor Data has to deal with Riker putting his leg up on his work area right at eye level. I laugh every time.
I finally realised that the theme music for the first season (or two ?) of Picard is based on one of the flute pieces from “Inner Light”
Trying to imagine what it would be like to work on the Enterprise and having to go to all those classical music concerts and poetry recitals— not to mention getting roped into one of Dr. Crusher’s dramatic productions. Like you can’t really escape your coworkers and have to take part in their weird hobbies because you’re all on the ship together.

We had a fabulous time visiting Batuu yesterday! Our outfits were comfortable and functional and well suited to what turned out to be a relatively cold and cloudy day in southern California. Disney cast members definitely seemed to interact with us more because we made the effort to dress up, and we got some lovely compliments from other guests, too. We were even gifted some BSO credit coins by random strangers who liked our outfits!
Tumblr media
It was Jack's first visit to Batuu, and while I did get to spend a little bit of time there with my mom in October, this was my first opportunity to really explore the entire area, browse through the shops, and sample all the food and drinks available. It was at least as cool as my first impression of it back in October, and Jack was impressed and delighted by all of it. We spent a good portion of the day just admiring all the details and world-building and excellent sets.
Jack has requested no photos, but I did manage to snag this pic of him blocking the camera like a victim of the paparazzi, lol.
Tumblr media
But look at those pleats! Both Jack and I are so pleased with how they turned out. Several of the Resistance jackets on display in the Rise of the Resistance queue had similar pleat details, and it was fun to look at them up close.
Tumblr media
Over this last weekend and all the way up to late Monday night, I was able to add a few last details to our outfits. I finally adjusted the chain length of my dangley earrings and glued the leather cording wraps to the back of my kyber crystal necklace so that it wouldn't slip out. While I had the glue out, I figured I'd take a stab at making some spat-type things to cover the lacings of my tall Doc Marten boots. I was completely winging it from start to finish, but I'm really happy with how they turned out!
The spats are made from some left over suede I've had in my stash for literally more than 20 years now -- it's been used for an Aragorn vest for Jack, a couple of bags for me, and the inner layers of the big wedge shaped piece on my Oswin belt. And I still have some left over! Maybe I'll make myself a belt pouch to match these spats at some point in the future.
Tumblr media
The narrow end of each spat tucks under the laces closest to the toe of my boot, and theoretically secures to itself with a hook and eye, though I found the hook didn't really hold from that angle, and really wasn't necessary anyway. The straps then velcro around the back of my leg, at the lowest point of the bend of my ankle, and right at the top of the boot, so that the strap sits just above the top edge of the boot in the back, which helps keep it from slipping down.
To make these I really just draped scrap suede on my boot while wearing it, started cutting it to the shape I thought might make sense, then copied that over for a second spat. I measured how much I would need for the straps and how much of an overlap I wanted for the velcro, then cut out all those pieces and glued them together using E6000 -- which works wonderful for adhering velcro to suede and suede to suede, but is a bit more iffy with the metal hooks and eyes (one eye popped off when I was taking off the spat at the end of the night, but since it wasn't staying hooked anyway, I'm not fussed).
Despite being such a quick off-the-cuff project, the spats worked out great, and added that last little bit to my outfit by covering the laces of my boots. They're visible in the third photo, the full-length shot in front of the door (and in the video below), and I think they add an understated bit of texture difference in all the black-on-black there, in addition to obscuring the modern look of the boots a bit.
Besides those detail bits for me, I also made a pair of little pockets for Jack's jacket, to hold 'code cylinders'. It's a tiny detail that really makes the jacket look that much more Star Wars-y, and the cylinders themselves are empty and their tops unscrew, so the space can actually be functional, too. (Currently they're filled with gum!)
Tumblr media
And at Jack's request, I threw together a quick insert for the zipper section on his collar that used to hold the hood before we removed it. The hood was making the collar too puffy, but without it the collar didn't have enough body to stand up on its own.
I took some measurements, then cut a piece of cotton duck canvas (that I had originally bought to cover the zippers on my Moment vest, before I changed gears and made the Batuu vest instead) to the right length and about three times the height of the interior of the hood section. I did a simple zigzag tri-fold on the height, ironed it flat, and marked some guide lines perpendicular to the length. Then it was just a simple process of quilting the three layers together by machine sewing in short vertical rows ~1cm apart.
Tumblr media
The quilting gave the canvas even more stiffness, and after that point it absolutely did not want to fold or droop along the short vertical axis. I slipped it into the former hood pocket (after snipping one corner to fit around the snap I hadn't accounted for), zipped it closed, and gave the whole collar area a quick pressing. It's removable if we ever need to, completely washable, and keeps the collar standing upright without looking too stiff. Jack was very happy with the result.
With our outfits finally done, we headed into the park around mid-morning, with a plan to stay late. I wasn't quite sure what to expect with Batuu Bounding at Disneyland (which is notoriously a bit more hit-and-miss than Batuu East, in Florida), but we got through security without incident and through the rest of the park without anyone commenting on our outfits. We saw someone else wearing the same leather-look leggings as me, and a guy wearing similar jacket and pants to Jack (but without the pleating), which made us feel like we didn't look too weird, by general Disneyland standards.
Tumblr media
Once we were in Batuu, though, our bounding definitely got noticed more. A couple of fellow guests complemented our outfits (including the kind strangers who gave us the coins!), and cast members seemed way more interested in interacting with us in-character. I got to bring up a bit about the history I'd made up for Samæni Ray -- which led to one cast member later referring to me and Jack as "my friends from Denon!" All of the prep and character design made it a lot easier to think on my feet in those little improv interactions.
One cast member in particular kept finding us throughout the day, just suddenly appearing out of nowhere it felt like, and kept trying to sell us a speederbike that totally wasn't a broken down lemon.
Tumblr media
Later in the day, he kind of sold us out to Kylo Ren and a pair of stormtroopers (but like, in a fun way, lol) which led to an intense interaction with Kylo Ren right up in both my face and Jack's. Kylo Ren is tall, and the voice and the mask and the body language was all perfect up close. There was a bit of nervous laughter on our part, but we kept our cool and convinced Ren that that since we'd only just arrived on Batuu from Denon, we couldn't possibly know anything about any Resistance activity in Black Spire Outpost.
We were way too in the moment to get any photos, but because we were dressed up and Kylo Ren was so much up in our faces, we did draw a bit of a crowd, so for all I know other people may have taken pictures or videos of the event, lol. My family has a saying about 'look hard' rather than take photos, and it was definitely that for us.
Overall the whole day was wonderful, and we ended up spending nearly 12 hours in Batuu without leaving once. I got to pilot the Falcon multiple times (though I can't really say I've gotten any better at it, lol), and got to try out gunner and engineer, too. We managed to ride Rise of the Resistance both during the day and again after dark, explore every part of Black Spire Outpost in detail, learn to play Sabacc with a cast member, have drinks at Oga's, and eat a bunch of really tasty, really well-presented food.
Tumblr media
All together it was an excellent, excellent birthday. And we're already talking about when we might want to go back again.

SOME THOUGHTS ON NEW TD CHARACTER DESIGNS
Tumblr media
she has beads in her hair and they look fantastic. also she has brown eyes as does a fair chunk of the cast which is making me so happy because very few td characters have brown eyes :)
Tumblr media
it took me a bit to realize but this guy actually has a longass ponytail
Tumblr media
i think this is a hockey shirt?
Tumblr media
she has an eyebrow piercing in addition to ear piercings and i feel kinda cursed saying this but she looks like someone combined courtney and duncan with maybe a splash of brick. regardless she is my fav character in terms of looks so far (little confused about what is going on with her shirt(s?) though)
Tumblr media
bleached blond hair and an undercut plus a purple shirt, what i’m gonna guess is a purple vest, and a cool necklace. loving the fashion sense. pretty sure ive seen one of my best friends in this exact outfir
Tumblr media
it might be the quality of the image but she looks like her eyes could be purple? maybe just an odd shade of brown though
Tumblr media
love the pleated skirt as opposed to those weird wrap things fresh used to do. glad we’ve moved on. the winged eyeliner!! also super cute sneakers which brings me to the observation that only one female character is visibly wearing heels which makes me SO happy. im so sick of girls on the show being designed with 3+ inch heels like how tf are they supposed to do challenges like that. but almost every female member of this cast is wearing sneakers and im so here for it
Tumblr media
THE CURLY HAIR WE LOVE TO SEE IT!! actually this cast has a fair amount of curly/textured hair it’s making my curly self so happy
Tumblr media
the first td character to wear high waisted jeans!! looks a little weird to me tbh but i get it considering how extreme the art style is when it comes to waists. anyways this character looks very sweet :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bonus: my guess for the gay couple is these two bc they’re looking at each other like this from across the campfire
in conclusion, while the designs aren’t as colorful/intense as, say, the pahkitew or roti designs, i love how natural/realistic they look and am super happy fresh changed things that bothered me in the past (heels, lack of brown eyes + curly hair) very excited to learn more about these characters!

✧⊹JARETH BALLROOM COAT⊹✧
[This post is part of a series about constructing Jareth's entire masquerade ball costume. Visit the master post here.]
Fabric Selection [Part 2 of 2] The Drama of the Lining
Hello all you fine goblins, goblinettes, masqueraders, bog creatures(?)... I'm back to ramble a lot, and unless you are really into sewing or want to make this coat, this post will probably bore the hell out of you but by all means here it is.
Firstly I want to say that I'm part of a Labyrinth cosplay group now, have a beautiful Sarah waiting for me in just a state above, a masquerade dancer who is already my good friend, and we'd love to do a dreamy photoshoot for everyone at a ballroom or wedding venue somewhere between us. However, I'm financially strained. I'm working extra shifts, offering commissions, etc, but it's only doing so much. If you've made it this far and have been appreciating any of my content, please consider tipping the blog. All the posts have a button that looks like this ($). Please help us unite. Please please, throw a dollar into my guitar case, won't you?
ANYHOO! I'm not good at lining, as I think I've mentioned. There's a lot more I need to learn to get it looking good and structured, and in this case there was so much gravity working against it too. I also am sure you notice that there are ghastly black stitches across the middle of the pleats on the inside... had thought that wouldn't be showing... whoops.
・・・・☆・・・・☆ ・・・・☆・・・・☆ ・・・・☆ ・・・・
We’ll start with the creamy, slightly sparkly, crimped(?) fabric that lines the tail first. It doesn’t appear to be lurex/foiled silk or satin, as it seems to be even lighter weight than those fabrics. That’s the first thing that I would say is important about picking this lining: it needs to be something SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT.
The reason being that, at least for the way I did the pleats, there was as much of it needed as the velvet, as it all got folded together. Even if you didn't do it this way, you would only want to add the least amount of extra weight as possible, using something that is still durable and isn't going to blow every which way.
That made the search pretty limiting, as did the fact that it needed to be opaque, flowy, and non-stretchy. Originally when I began searching, I was looking for things like organza or chiffon with crimps/ridges, which looked very pretty, but they were too sheer unless layered, and layering would have made them too stiff.
After doing further research post-completion of the coat, viscose seems like it would have looked and behaved correctly, since it's soft, light, non-stretchy and not sheer, but apparently it isn't the most environmentally friendly fabric, so it’s something to consider. There's also cupro, though I've never gotten my hands on either of these so it's hard to say that definitively. It’s supposed to have a similar appearance and drape as silk, but it's not quite as shiny. It's opaque, and unless it's mixed with elastane or rayon it's not supposed to be very stretchy either, which leads me to…
What not to use: a stretchy fabric, like for any lining on any project. I already made that clear, but did I follow my own advice? Not this time. I got fed up with fabric drama and settled for a very pretty but stretchy foiled fabric, hell if I know what it was because it was late one evening at Jo-Ann Fabric, and I was Over That Shit™ and suffered a lapse in judgment. The result was slight warping from over-handling, and the entire seam between it and the inner facing was bubbly. I’m still kicking myself. Shoulda’ gone home. Shoulda’ said “no, Jo-Ann.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's what I used. Yeah, it's pretty right? But that's all it is.
Another thing to note is that there are subtle ridges in the bottom lining. Not pleats, but like, crimping? It’s a very similar texture to Sarah’s dress. Searching for terms related to ridges would help find something similar, and as for colors, I searched for mainly creams, or borderline beige. Sometimes “champagne” also yielded good results. It’s definitely not white or even ivory, as white will turn the color scheme of the coat way too cold, stark, and sterile. Ivory (while warm-toned) may have the same effect.
It helped me to look at a color wheel and decide the most complimentary combination based on the exact shade of blue that my velvet was. The ballroom coat’s actual shade of blue may seem to vary based on the photograph, but after seeing a lot of reference photos, I started to be able to tell which ones had been, em, tweaked, enhanced, etc. and that tended to be the ones that presented it as electric blue or leaning towards turquoise. The true shade seems to be like one shade cooler than true-blue. Am I making sense?
Tumblr media
Given that, the lining’s shade of cream would need to be basically a pure cream color, not leaning towards rosy/orange NOR towards green on the color wheel, in order to be complimentary. However, for anyone who’s making the coat who wants to use a warmer shade of blue for the velvet, this is perfectly fine, it just will change just about every other color choice that you make, down to the color of the jewels and buttons. You may find that all your other blues need to be warmer shades, and that a rosier cream lining (champagne) looks best.
Before moving on to the top lining, I want to mention that there is - strangely – a piece of cream colored tulle in the back? Not sure how that looks if you were to open the coat and look in, and since I couldn’t think of a way to make that look good, I didn’t include it.
・・・・☆・・・・☆ ・・・・☆・・・・☆ ・・・・☆ ・・・・
The top lining! We can’t see what’s in there, so this comes down to intuition and preference. I wanted a fully lined coat that looked good and had an aesthetically pleasing transition from one fabric to another, so I pretty much lined the top as if it was its own mini jacket, and I chose satin in a slightly lighter shade of cool blue. A little too light to be called navy but I’m sure people still would call it that.
I wouldn’t recommend using the same fabric used on the tail for the top because the fabric for the tail seems too textured to be smooth enough to get in and out of without issues. Best to stick with classic lining: silk or satin, in blue or a neutral that would match something else on the coat. Black, cream, maybe even dark/metallic grey or silver? The extra challenge of using a shade of blue is that you’d have to be very discerning about whether or not it matched. I had to take the velvet with me everywhere when making my decisions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Almost nothing featured here is what I used, but here's me being diligant and bringing my swatches everywhere.
Not only did the color have to match, but the texture and amount of shimmer also mattered. Super matte silks/satins seemed to anchor down the splendor of the sparkling velvet too much. The really shiny fabrics looked best. I settled for something a little more subdued, but okay. It was okayyyy. Again, I was Over It™.
Well, was that super interesting, or what?

Chat GPT couldn’t write My Immortal
So the fun thing about Chat GPT is that is the worst writer I have ever interacted with, but it is bad in a special unique way that a full decade of over-involvement on a bad fanfic forum could not have prepared me for.  I legitimately think My Immortal is better written in most ways (except technically obvs).  Maybe I just hate the feeling of getting thru several paragraphs and realizing I’ve read basically nothing, idk, but at least My Immortal is interesting and sometimes things happen in it.  I can’t even prompt Chat GPT into giving me outfit descriptions that are as good as Tara’s!  I’ve tried! So for shits and giggles I prompted Chat GPT to write like Tara.  The best part was I phrased it like a question so it responded with “OMG!!111 I can totally do that for you!”  But overall  it did a pretty shitty job. I thought I would share anyway.
Part I
First I tried to get it to describe a character’s outfit, as mentioned.  It started okish but without and of the characteristic bad grammar and spelling errors:
So, like, his outfit was, like, so edgy and gothic, it was like a total masterpiece of dark fashion. His go-to look was a black turtleneck, which hugged his rock-hard bod in all the right ways,
Chat GPT loves to just fixate on one aspect of the prompt you give it, so it couldn’t help but regurgitate a phrase I used in the most awkward way it could:
And OMG, let's talk about his pants, or should I say "pant-adjacent abomination"? LOL!
But eventually it became less Tara and more like a parody of gen Z:
The fabric, in all its darkness, flowed and draped in this super cool way, embracing the curves and angles of his legs. It was like fashion magic, I tell you!
But the best part? The lower part of the pants had all these intricate pleats and folds. They, like, embraced his leg structure and gave his outfit this rebellious and avant-garde vibe.
It was a fashion statement that screamed, "I'm unique, I'm fierce, and I'm ready to kick some serious ass!
The fabric had this rad texture, adding that extra touch of awesomeness to his ensemble. It was a fusion of practicality and personal style, showing the world that Gargoyle was not just a badass protector but a fashion icon in his own right.
As if Tara would ever use the word “avant-garde”.  Or “vibe” for that matter.
It did end with my favorite touch tho:
It was a style statement that only a true goth queen like him could pull off with such dark grace.
OK Chat GPT, you got me there.  It’s still wrong, but I like it.
Part II
Next I gave it a completely different prompt from something I’ve been working on.  This one is like one of those Korean webtoons where people die and get reincarnated as their younger selves but Chat GPT took a couple creative liberties (surprisingly rare, but always a delight):
Wretch woke up, feeling soooo goffik and angsty. He sat up in his bed, his long, black hair cascading around his pale face. He looked around the room, which was still a dark and brooding place, just like he left it. But something was off. He felt strange, like he was trapped in a bad fanfiction crossover. He touched his long, silky hair, shocked to find it was no longer jet black but now a shimmering shade of silver. "What the hell?" he muttered to himself, his voice deep and mysterious.
He got out of bed and stood in front of the mirror, his black eyeliner perfectly applied. He gasped when he saw his reflection. Staring back at him was a much younger version of himself, no older than 10 years old. His face was chubby and innocent, so different from his usual brooding and menacing appearance. "How the f*** did this happen?" he mumbled, running his fingers through his hair, which was no longer slicked back but loose and flowing.
I’m not sure why getting younger changed his hair color, but ok.  The My Immortal-ness of it is so obviously surface level tho.  IDK if it is as clear when you ask it to pretend to be Stephan King or whatever, but here is it pretty clear it’s only picking up on a couple key traits.
The weird thing about this one is it must be getting some of its information about how to write this from parodies because the meta “jokes” don’t stop coming:
Was this some kind of twisted nightmare or a poorly written plot twist?
The realization hit him like a poorly spelled Avada Kedavra.
Umm, excuse me, but Tara would never.   One thing I will give it tho, its extremely awkward use of swears, especially from adult figures, is very good:
Valorous turned to face Wretch, a look of confusion on his face. "Wretch? What's going on? Why do you look like a f***ing child?
Wretch scowled at Valorous, his dark eyes narrowing. "I don't know what the f*** is happening, but Verity's here, and I need to find her. This could be our chance to finally end this endless war and... maybe even find love or some s***," he said, his voice laced with a hint of doubt.
This also ends on a pretty good note:
But seriously, what the

A sleeping giant.
The months of Jimin’s absence are finally revealing what he’s been up to.
Tumblr media
From the W Korea article:
"Jimin begins to leap in the air on a sizable mattress surrounded by flowers, bouncing up and falling backwards countless times; every movement he makes recalls his graceful performance onstage; Jimin, who studied dance at an arts high school, doesn’t simply jump. Instead, he rises and appears to float in the air for an instant. The camera captures the fleeting seconds of his flight...
...Jimin casts a giant’s shadow on a large backdrop."
Tumblr media
The hoi polloi (actually most were people who are more wealthy than we are and were invited to this fashion shindig) were getting pushed out of the way so Jimin could enter the building. MOVE OUT OF THE WAY PEASANTS, ROYALTY IS COMING THROUGH!
Tumblr media
Commanding without even being conscious of it.
Tumblr media
As I was browsing Getty Images, I noticed a lot of the other guests posing for the cameras as they arrived...trying to get their moment in the flashing cameras... and there were a lot of special guests from the fashion and entertainment industries. And all Jimin wanted to do is get the heck inside the building ...fuck posing, where’s my Hobi-ah?
I could talk about the actual fashion show but I'm not sure if anyone is interested. All eyes are on Jimin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I should probably know who that shaggy white guy is sitting behind them but I could care less... but he sure was trying to figure out who those two young men in front of him were...
Tumblr media
If I may, a few of my thoughts on this particular Dior menswear collection is that the silhouettes were so voluminous... shapeless really... especially the pants. They were like that in the Louis Vuitton show as well. Not a fan of billowy, wide-leg pants on men (you know how I feel about tight pants...I’m sure I’ve mentioned it a time or two). There were a lot of skirt/skort/kilt pleated type bottoms. Lots of tweed. Beautifully draping fabrics as usual. Flowy thingy details. And those rubber boots. The sounds those had to have made as the models strode around the backdrop to the narration of whatever that was ... The vibe was outdoorsy (which is what we know the summer collection was inspired by) and the ambience was... well... British country? Hoity toity quail hunting? With a dash of impracticality? Those flowy thingys are sure to get all muddy as you drag them behind you walking through that bog.
However, there were a few pieces that stood out for me because of the texture and silhouette:
Tumblr media
That ribbed sweatery texture looks very cozy and luxurious.
Tumblr media
The tweed (or pattern) is classic and that jacket and pants look like something that could be tailored well for Jimin. I could see Jimin wearing either of those pieces. The bucket hats were sort of oversized (Jungkook would love them).
I love that Hobi attended the Dior show and was able to be a familiar face for Jimin. It made me feel better that he was there.
Tumblr media
I can imagine Hobi oohing and aahing as the models went by... and Jimin trying not to giggle at him (being at his core ‘my goofy friend in sweatpants who loves soju…’) and Hobi is decked out head to toe in Dior as well.
Tumblr media
Between the Dior show coverage and the WKorea magazine article, my poor brain is overwhelmed.
I wonder if Dior is aware of the unicorn it scored at its Menswear Fall ‘23 show... the presence of Jimin AND Hobi.... no other fashion house may ever get that lucky.
Tumblr media
And now the Vibe making-of video.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I commented not too long ago about when I thought the Vibe MV had been filmed and my guess was late August...and I was WRONG WRONG WRONG! Lo and behold! in the Vibe making video! Jimin's hair is blonde! under that beanie! when he and Taeyang are prepping for the video! The only time we've seen a hint of blonde Jimin was Jin's enlistment day DECEMBER 13!. Look closely, blonde hair peeking out from under Jimin’s beanie:
Tumblr media
This little Vibe making video also showed me the friendship between Jimin and Taeyang and knowing that Jimin was influenced in his youth by Taeyang makes me understand more clearly why Jimin is not afraid and wants to be naked for us:
Tumblr media
So I am here to thank Taeyang for that.

Note
im trying to not with that outfit but I can't
a cardigan, a high hip cut cardigan at that, is an accent piece, not the whole top, am I appreciating the low cut of the undershirt? yes, but I cannot with the rest of it.
THAT CARDIGAN IS TOO SMALL AND IT IS SUFFERING THE MAN IS TOO BROAD
the pants are... fine?... I certainly think he looks better with more form fitting pant legs, his silhouette is very boxy. not like, Max in WW84 boxy but it feels close to me.
so i think, with the right top the pants would be salvageable, the cardigan... undo the bottom two buttons, a nice dark undershirt, and form fitting pants, I'd still have questions, but they'd prob be fewer
I'm gonna apologize for the old lady I will some day become because if I'm sitting on my porch and someone walks by wearing that? I can just hear my cranky old self. "This world's goin' to shit."
WARNING: Do not read more. Adira's gonna go flip some tables.
Tumblr media
Transcript: Begin rant.
Listen. I woke up to that monstrosity and had to go to an online meeting and engage for two hours on very little sleep. I went and took a nap and I'm still fkn cranky about it.
No. You know what? I'm REALLY fkn cranky about it. Like, it feels like a personal attack.
I also need to apologize to everyone who has felt this way over Fabio's choices lately. I feel your pain. But I actually love his style and that he keeps our boy comfy and whimsical and up to date (because, let's face it, left to his own devices, Pedro is a teenage boy). I mean, I didn't exactly love the pants for the wine event, but let's not get into that. I got over those. Because you know what? Pedro looks good in everything.
Or so I thought until this morning.
When I woke up from my nap I actually groaned. Not because my back fkn sucks but because I knew this outfit was still out there. That it had happened. That someone whose job it is to dress people found the most beautiful man on earth and did that to him.
How do you pick four colors and not have any of them compliment each other???? And then pick four BLOCK colors, no patterns, but all different fabric textures? And then choose a sweater that's made from something so shiny and synthetic that I can hear it creaking every time it stretches over his shoulders? Like, that's the kind of shit they can't sell at Kohls so they take it off the racks and put it in clothing subscription boxes and try to convince people that "it's not ugly, it's just new and hip and so fashion forward you're not used to it yet." If it caught fire it wouldn't even burn, just melt into a bubbling pool and then cool into a puddle of silly putty.
No.
*screams into a smushmallow*
You know, I'm gonna scoot past the fit of the pants and their zoot-suit pleats and their droopy cuffs and forgive them just so I can concentrate on that sweater. Don't put him in that color!!!! Boy has beautiful undertones and can wear just about anything and you picked the one fkn color that makes him look like an abomination!!!
*throws an arm over my eyes like a drama queen except really not ironically*
There are so many crimes happening here and on a not so cranky day I'd mostly just feel protective that she made him look terrible oh mah gahhhhh
But it's a cranky day. And someone that works in the fashion industry thinks it's okay to pair camel shit plastic with Heinz 57 Stray Cats. If that's what's coming of the runways these days give me two spoons and I'll remove my own damn eyeballs my own damn self--
*takes a deep sigh. tries to forget the pain. lies in an agonized heap*
Did you know edibles are legal in Minnesota now? Yeah. The dems put it on a bill with a bunch of other great stuff and the republicans in the state house didn't read it and signed it into law. It was really great. That was a good day. Legalized gummies.
I'm gonna go get some. BRB.

DIY Paper Flower Bouquet
Tumblr media
Project by Kelsey Elam:
Despite my recent good luck streak with growing plants at home, I still have a soft spot for paper flowers because of their relative ease of care (minus a little dusting now and then). I’m happy to share one more “forever” flower project from paper artist Kelsey Elam of MOON flora. I first discovered Kelsey’s work on Instagram, where she was sharing gorgeous photos on our #DSLOOKING feed, and I have been a fan ever since. I love the bright, vivid colors she works with; they’re a nice break from all the muted florals that seem to own Instagram these days. Kelsey has been papercrafting since she was 5, so her projects are time-tested and easy to follow. Today she’s teaching us to make a full bouquet with paper dahlias, peonies and vines. Thanks for sharing your paper expertise, Kelsey! xo, grace
*Note: this project makes a 19-piece bouquet, however, each blossom could be made and displayed singularly, or multiplied for larger arrangements and statement decor*
Bouquet includes:
– 5 peony blossoms
– 3 peony buds
– 3 dahlia blossoms
– 3 vine stems
– 5 large leaves
Tools:
– glue (I prefer Aleene’s tacky glue, but any craft glue will do!)
– a pair of wire cutters
– a sharp pair of scissors
– ruler
Supplies:
– 3 cotton balls
– yarn + embroidery thread in a similar tone (you will need 50” of each per peony)
– 4 sheets of tissue paper (I used 4 colors for this project, but the color options are truly unlimited)
– craft wire (28 gauge silver wire is my favorite to use and available at any craft store)
– floral wire for stems (20 gauge floral wire is my go-to for most blossoms and comes in 18” lengths)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tips from Kelsey:
– “When cutting the tissue paper into the shapes needed, I always fold multiple layers of tissue together depending on how many pieces I need per project and keep a good grasp on the stack as I cut the shapes free-handed to get organic and uneven edges. You could also paperclip the layers together and trace a shape, which will give you the ability to get a very precise shape and gives you the chance to cut quite a few pieces if you are making large quantities.”
– “While glue is still wet, I’ve found that I can usually move petals and leaves around slightly by very carefully pulling the paper in the direction I want.”
– “If you find that the tissue paper is wrapped too loose when covering stems, start at one end and twist the paper tighter between your fingers working your way to the other end of the stem. Make sure you twist the same direction.”
To make a large leaf (x5)
You will need:
5 – 12” lengths of floral wire
5 – 15” x 1/2” strips of tissue paper
5 – 3 1/2” wide x 5” long leaves creased down the center
First, take the strip of tissue paper and run 2 lines of glue down the length and a dab at each end. On a diagonal, place the floral stem on one end of the tissue paper and fold the corners over the stem. Using a twisting motion, grasp the stem in one hand and guide the tissue around the wire with the other hand. When you reach the end, fold the edges over and twist the tissue paper to smooth over the stem. Next, take your leaf and fold in half at the crease, then accordion pleat along the folded side, keeping in mind that imperfect folds look more natural than even pleats. When you open the leaf it should be textured. Gently dab glue down the crease, but try to avoid smoothing the leaf because that reduces the striped texture. Lay the stem over the crease and adjust the pleating to your liking as you attach the leaf with your fingers on the underside. After adjusting the leaf, pinch the base of the leaf around the stem. Once the glue on your leaf is completely dry you can gently bend the stem in a curve where the leaf is attached and it will create a curling effect.

To Make Vine Stems (x3)
You will need:
2 – 12” lengths of floral wire
1 – 15” length of floral wire
3 – 15” x 1/2” strips of tissue paper
16 – 1 1/2” wide x 2” long leaves creased down the center (12” stems get 5 leaves each + 15” stem gets 6 leaves)
To start, cover the stems using the same technique as the stems for the large leaves. Next apply a small dab of glue to one end of the crease on each leaf. Attach your first leaf to the tip of the stem by pinching the leaf at the crease around the dab of glue. Then, working in a zig-zag pattern down the stem, use the same technique to attach the other leaves at a slight angle to the stem.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To make Peony blossoms (x5)
5 – 50” pieces of yarn
5 – 50” pieces of embroidery thread
5 – 4” sections of craft wire
5 – 9” lengths of floral wire
5 – 12” x 1/2” strips of tissue paper
5 – 2 1/2” tall x 3” wide sections of 5 smaller scalloped petals
10 – 3” tall x 7.5” wide sections of 3 larger scalloped petals
To make the stamen first, hold your ruler and 4” piece of craft wire in one hand and line up the yarn and embroidery thread perpendicular over the wire. Hold the wire, and ends of yarn and thread under your thumb and wind the length of yarn and thread around the ruler. Once you reach the end, hold the bundle between your thumb and index finger and use your other hand to pull the wire ends down to the edge of the ruler and tightly twist the wire. Slip the bundle of loops off the ruler and use a sharp pair of scissors to cut the loops to create a mini pompom. Twist the wire tighter if you can, so the yarn doesn’t slip out. Then attach the yarn stamen by twisting the craft wire ends around the floral wire stem.
Now to make the peony blossom, gently scrunch the bottom of each section of petals and apply glue along the edge. Center the yarn stamen over your first petal section and wrap the edges over the top to meet in the center. Hold the petals around the yarn in one hand and use the other hand to scrunch the bottom around the stem. Using a twisting motion, keep moulding the tissue paper until it is secured to the stem. Making sure to stagger the petals, repeat with the next section of larger petals. Then add the smaller petal section to create the sepal. Next apply 2 lines of glue down the length of the tissue paper strip and a dab at each end. Holding the end of the strip at a diagonal angle to the base of your peony, fold over the corner. Using a twisting motion grasp the stem in one hand and guide the tissue around the wire with the other hand. When you reach the end, fold the edges over and twist the tissue paper to smooth over.

To make Peony buds (x3)
You will need:
3 – cotton balls
3 – 9” lengths of floral wire
3 – 12” x 1/2” strips of tissue paper
3 – 2 1/2” tall x 3” wide sections of 5 smaller scalloped petals
3 – 4” x 4” pieces of tissue paper
Start by putting a small dab of glue on the end of the floral wire and twist into the center of a cotton ball. Apply a light yet even amount of glue on the tissue paper square. Place cotton ball end of your stem on the tissue paper and gently cup your hand around the cotton ball, guiding the paper to adhere to the cotton. Grasp tissue paper around the stem and manipulate with your fingers, working in a twisting motion. Scrunch the section of scalloped petals and apply glue. Arrange petals around the bud to create the sepal and using the same technique, carefully adhere the glued section to the stem. Cover the stem with a strip of tissue paper.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To make Dahlia blossoms (x3)
You will need:
3 – 9” lengths of floral wire
3 – 12” x 1/2” strips of tissue paper
3 – 2 1/2” tall x 3” wide sections of 5 smaller pointed petals
9 – 3 1/2” tall x 5” wide sections of 5 larger pointed petals (6 pieces of darker color + 3 pieces of lighter color)
First, gently scrunch the bottom of each section of petals and apply glue along the edge. Attach the first layer by folding one petal over, sandwiching about 1/2” of the floral wire and then scrunch the petal section upon itself while slowly twisting the wire in your hand. Once you get the entire section adhered to itself, use your fingers to twist the paper even tighter around the stem. Then repeat the same steps to attach the other two layers of larger petals and then the smaller section of petals to create the sepal. Cover the stem with a strip of tissue paper.
