A Rose By Any Other Name:
a Romeo and Juliet inspired mascarpone and pistachio praline filled cream puff topped with raspberry-rose panna cotta, rose shaped raspberry-rose pate de fruit, candied Sicilian pistachios, and a chocolate dagger.
Sometimes, when it's slow, we get to practice our skills at work, and this is one of those times! today i was paired with a coworker to make a buffet portion dessert for a randomly assigned theme- ours was Shakespeare and we were inspired by Romeo and Juliet! We had 24 hours to plan and 4 hours to make everything start to finish, and this is what we came up with!

“I hope it’s not in ill-taste,” Jillian confided as excited sisters carried the boxes inside. “Camila assured me religieuses were a good choice.”
“It’s certainly generous, doctor,” Mother Superion replied, surprised and thankful for the gift. “This will be a sweeter Christmas meal than usual.”
Jillian smiled. “I’ve done my good deed, then. Merry Christmas.”
“Where are you going? You will dine with us, no?”
“The mass…”
“I said dine, Jillian, not pray. Stay.”
Jillian was convinced already but Superion glanced at the pastries again.
“Eat one of your nuns.”
They exchanged a look.
They laughed and went in together.

ah, engie certainly cooks much more often than i do. much more often than most of the team, in fact, and he is very very good at it! i cook as well of course, just not as often. but im fairly good at it as well!

Rant about croissants
I don't like croissants but when I tell people I don't like croissants something like this goes down
"I don't like them because they're buttery and flakey"
"But the butter and flakiness is the appeal!"
And this kind of interaction happens over and over again in different forms.
"I don't want to eat this because it's spicy and I don't like the taste"
"But the spice is the appeal!"
"I will not date you because I do not experience romantic attraction."
"But romance is good!"
"I don't want to travel because I don't enjoy sightseeing"
"But sightseeing is the point of travelling!"
If the appeal of the thing is unattractive then it isn't so difficult to come to the conclusion that the thing in question is unattractive by nature. Sometimes, like in the case of traveling, the 'point' of traveling can be changed. Instead of sightseeing it could be a business trip or a meeting with loved ones, and in such a case traveling would be not so bad. But other times the 'appeal' of the thing is so baked into the concept that the two are inseparable, the thing becomes defined by the appeal. There's no helping it. Stop offering me croissants.
