Thoughts on grief and kindness

It's funny how things happen. The day is 15th of January of 2024, me and my brother play a game where i have to try lift and move his limp body, i kind of sort of do it, he says i didn't, I tell him "i did move you tho, in an emergency i could", he tells me "you are so right dude".

The day is 16th of January of 2024, i read Rainne Fisher-Quann sub stack about grief before bed, i think of my mother and how is it possible to grieve a woman who is still alive. "I have never had an emotion i could hold in my hands", you are so right, dude.

The day is 17th of January 2024, i wake up confused, dad is in my room and he's asking for help in his "professional man" voice. Something is wrong. Mom tried to kill herself. Overdose on pills. The day is 17th of January 2024 and we are trying to take her outside to an uber that's waiting for us, we fall twice, it turns out i could do it in an emergency, ha. The day 17th of january 2024 and im sobbing in my front yard, trembling, hands on face. The day is 17th (she sent me our song before she tried) of january (she left me her favourite necklace in a place easy for me to find) 2024 (her favourite comforter is in my shower) and im grieving a woman that tried and somehow is still alive.

The day is May 6th 2024, I've been thinking about this draft, the fact that i never posted it, Mom is doing fine, she is still alive and im glad for it, even tho sometimes i don't know if she feels the same. I never told anyone about what happened that night. It doesn't feel like grieving anymore, it feels like relief

SECONDLY.... ITS HAPPENING. IT HAPPENED. RILEY X MILLY.

Me and Hella went through HELL AND BACK trying to help him figure it out and after ALL OF THAT WORK he SUDDENLY decides he's just gonna... ignore it all?? FORGET IT ALL?? Riley loves Milly. There's no denying, this is written in stone. Milly will find out if its the last thing I do.

Thirdly, Pips been officially added to the spirit phone gang! Well, the rp of her intro is done as of right now but the contracts been signed. Personally, I think her concept is SO cute so maybe I'm a little biased in terms of Pip.

Fourthly... Horace, and Davey. If you didn't know, Davey is a younger version of good old grandpappy Leeching and Horace is his father, along with the father of Olivia and Percy. That makes Horace the eldest (in terms of timeline) character in the Leeching family.

I do hold my concerns as Davey is a significant crack in the timeline. Grandpappy Leeching and Davey are 2 separate characters, both derived from the same concept and both are beginning to play significant parts in lore. What will happen when they overlap??

Also fun mention Davey has a stuffed duck called Mr Quackers who may or may not be sentient

FINALLY: CONTENTS FOR MAGICAL A+ GIRLS SEASON 2 IS OUT!! I'll make a separate post about this but I am SO HAPPY the supporting boys get more screentime as Bailey wasn't even MENTIONED in season 1 other than as a filler for an evil role which was defo not suited for him.

hey! so as y’all may or may not know, i’ve been super sick for the past like week or so. a couple days ago i started taking this medicine and it basically knocked me out for like 4 days, and because of this, i haven’t been posting.

however, on a brighter note, i am feeling much better! so, starting tomorrow (may 16th), i will get back to posting regularly (up to 3 times per day). i might post more since i’m super behind on my requests right now, so keep checking my page for updates.

he's a criminally underrated defenseman who loves his family and posts really cute pics with his family's dog gracie.

he was born in florida but chooses to play for canada on the international level. while living in florida as a young teenager he regularly flew to michigan to play for little caesar's, which is honestly more dedication than i've ever experienced for anything. the yotes drafted him 16th overall in the 2016 draft, which is lower than he was projected to be drafted, and they also took clayton keller in that same draft 7th overall.

he's really close w christian dvorak (rip about that trade) and had him and clayton keller living with him this summer (and dvo lived with him during last season as well) and maybe someone else im forgetting?? side note: his house is gorgeous and if you want a glimpse at his view you can see kinda see it in these (1, 2) and im incredibly jealous.

as far as hockey goes, he led all defensemen in goals last season, including a hat trick where he scored all the yotes' goals in the game including the OT winner! he's coming into his own after having two major surgeries early in his nhl career and i think last season was his first full season.

he's also just very athletic in general and has said that if he wasn't playing hockey professionally he thinks he may have played baseball. he played baseball up until he absolutely could not anymore due to hockey commitments.

the yotes' new head coach came to his cottage up in canada over the summer to meet him and talk about expectations and stuff, including chych's leadership and many ppl expect him to eventually be named the next captain of the coyotes. personally, i was surprised when he didn't get an A last season, at least part time, so i'm hoping he gets that this year, at the very least.

he's really close with his whole family. his sister has a tattoo of his name in ukrainian! he's a momma's boy and ms nancy posts the cutest things about him. he plays hockey during the summer w his dad (a former nhl player and an analyst for the panthers) and his grandpa!! his uncle is luke richardson, who was the assistant coach who took over during the playoffs when mtl's head coach was out w covid. he and his gf are both absurdly beautiful!!

tw: suicide - he's really passionate about mental health, in part because of his cousin daron, luke's daughter. after her death her parents created DIFD (do it for daron) in her honor, and chych regularly talks about it and supports various events and related causes.

i saved that as a draft before i got drunk off my ass. since that night, i have dropped the group chat that this post was originally about. i did get drunk alone in my dorm room that night. but since then, ive found much much better friends who do make me feel better about myself. and with that, its only those people who made me want to drop what i love. i later learned that everyone else in that group wants me there, and that other people in that group find me valuable. so my point is, look up. it gets better.

a year and a half later (thought it feels like more) you are still growing, people change, and you are with the people you’re supposed to be with. the growth has been immense; and you are (probably) more loved than you know. those days were dark, they’re now full of light and love and support. and damn right, theyve kept you in the place you love doing what you love. you did more than alright.

this really has been sitting in my drafts for nearly two years, with edits happening on mentioned dates. the people who this is about, can see this. and i hope they know its about them, how they made me feel, and how much i grew without them. how much i grew because of them. if i’m allowed to rub anything in anyone’s face, its how happy i finally am.

Just a little update on where I’m at with my stuff for those patiently waiting.

On my tracker, I’m up to about 16th May (2 1/2 weeks ish).

Anything in my drafts (starters, things I’d like to carry on) I’m up to about 20th May. This doesn’t include quiz things I’ve been tagged in that I do as and when I’m in the mood.

Inbox-wise, I have one thing that I plan on answering at present. The rest I’ve either already got plenty of things going with your muse and don’t yet have a specific plan for a new dohickey, or it was the ‘don’t die on me’ meme which I haven’t answered because reasons. She says, writing angsty crap all over the place regardless.

If you’re waiting for something in particular, please check with me as to whether I meant to keep it, whether it got to me in the first place, whether I’m a dumb who didn’t put something in my drafts/Tumblr didn’t notify me and especially if I agreed to something in IMs and then got distracted. ramblin abt my ocs (a lot)

i think im starting to care abt my ocs again, which is good bc it seems like every time i go hard in a fandom for a while i get extremely apathetic abt my own characters (bc the ones im obsessed w/ at the time seem to outshine them in every conceivable way and make them look painfully boring in comparison), so im glad the current wave of those feelings is finally starting to wear off bc god

anyway i’ve been thinking about some old ocs lately (like from when i was 13/14) and i wanted to look into them some more so i pulled out the notebook that had their story, which was coincidentally the one that silan & sythra are originally from and wow it turns out there was actually a legit explanation for their alternate eye colors?? 

i know i’ve gone back to find this story before too (quite recently actually) so idk why i didn’t already know this, i think i literally just keep forgetting every time fkdfksjd

tbh it’s probably because it doesn’t apply anymore because ok their original story had a whole cast of characters with super powers (i’ve talked abt it a little before), and originally their Thing was that they could read each other’s minds, which is kind of still how they work now but the other thing they could do was share their literal sight? here’s the actual description from the story

If they are apart, they can do something called sight division, where they can choose to see what the other is seeing. It’s like because their eyes are opposite colors, they can match their missing eye with the other’s and share the sight.

like it makes sense and it’s a pretty cool idea tbh? and idk how i forgot about it but somewhere down the line their psychic relationship developed past the point of something like sight division even being necessary, like

in may 16th, the story i transferred them to after this, the link’s concept changed from simply being able to read each other’s minds to being a constant connection between them- it’s not a conscious decision they make to “read” what the other is thinking, they’re just always there in each other’s heads, aware of what is happening with the other person at all times 

but even then the story would often have them mentally speaking full sentences to each other as a means of communication, whereas now it’s evolved even further past that; the current idea is that they are two separate entities that share the same mind space, constantly influencing and being influenced by each other’s thoughts, feelings, natures and personalities to the point that the line between the two of them distinguishing who’s who would be more accurately described as a gradient

so the concept of “sight division” has been rendered completely obsolete at this point because why would they need to share their sight when they literally know exactly what is happening with the other person at every waking moment of their connected lives

the reason for their eye colors became merely symbolic at some point between the original story and may 16th (i probably just forgot about the sight division & didn’t ever go back to check tbh) and the idea i’ve had ever since was that it was just a physical manifestation of their mental link; sythra’s eyes are originally blue and silan’s are originally brown, but because of the connection it’s like they have a little piece of each other within them, ergo the switching of their left eyes

that’s the explanation i’ve been using this whole time & i thought that’s how it always was, so reading the original concept kind of blew my mind & made me a little sad that i can’t use it anymore bc honestly??? good post op

anyway i rly want to do more with silan & sythra bc i feel like they have a lot of potential and i’ve had some cool ideas for them in the past, so maybe i’ll develop those more hmmm

i think i’d have to migrate them into another story separate from may 16th to really explore them, though. which is kind of a scary thought because may 16th is my baby, but. i think that time in my life has passed and it’s time to do something Bigger with these characters, because at this point they deserve so much more than Shitty High School Romance In Which Sythra Is Pretty Much Shoved To The Side To Make Room For The Main Relationship Plotline Where The Most Mediocre Dude Ever Shows Up & Steals Silan’s Heart By Being A Complete Dick To Him Wow (But Like, A Handsome Dick)

and ok that’s being a little harsh because that’s only the original draft- i’ve been salvaging it & rearranging it to make it leagues better, but the thing is, in the process i’ve only come to realize that it needs to become something bigger; my ideas are evolving it past that original high school romance setting, and while that setting will always hold a special place in my heart, i want to let this story and these characters breathe and grow to their full potential instead of caging them with nostalgia, you know? i think i’ll remember may 16th as the high school romance au, that is how it will live on in my heart

god i dont even know what i would do with chris in a new story though?? he is Truly the most mediocre and the only reason he was a prominent character in may 16th was because of his relationship with silan; if we’re gonna take that relationship away though then what is he even here for. his motivations include 1. Playing Sport and 2. Ignoring Every Emotion Especially The Gay Ones like god what an uninspired character what am i supposed to do with him. i mean i have been working on him lately but deep down i really do think he’s a boring character and i probably care about him the least out of all my main ocs hgjdgkdjksdg I FEEL BAD BUT

literally the only thing that has ever made him interesting to me is his relationship with silan like he has a fun dynamic with him and pretty decent development as a result of his interaction with him but as soon as he’s on his own he’s just sUch a boring character im snoring i need to fix chris somebody save him (read: me)

that’s the big problem here, i think. if im going to transfer these characters into a new story that’ll focus primarily on silan and sythra (or at least a lot more than may 16th did), chris would just be a huge distraction like he was in may 16th; if silan is what makes him interesting then he’ll just end up immediately latching onto silan and stealing the focus away from sythra bc chris only exists to be with silan, right. so the options im looking at here are 

omit chris completely because he’d just be an unnecessary dead weight on the story or

find another purpose for him, give him new depth that doesn’t conform to a romance, reinvent him as a compelling standalone character who could fit right into any given setting- discover what defines him and build on it until he feels like he could be his own protagonist

....obviously one of these requires a lot more energy & dedication but. i cant just abandon my boy. my dumbass mediocre af shit boy

aaaaaanyway i’ve definitely gone on for way too long Oops i didnt mean to shit on chris for so many paragraphs hghdghsdgdj but im kinda glad i did bc that was smth i really needed to admit & come to that conclusion so That’s Cool. if anything u at least got to see a bit of what my brainstorming documents usually look like (theyre a mess)

i just wanted to make a quick post to let you all know that i’m going to be mia this week b/c i’m taking a much needed vacation!! i’ll be living my best life at disney world on a mother/daughter adventure! how things have been going lately, i defo need this break so, i’m looking forward to recharging and having some fun!  SO. all my replies that i’ve received will be posting in my usual queue -- if you posted something for me or replied to something and you don’t see it, please let me know because i either missed it or have it in my drafts (aka i saved it after i finished my queues so i didn’t get a chance to write it before vacay)!
