Like. Hiveswap/friendsim take place *hundreds of years* before homestuck proper. We *know* that nothing changes. We *know* that everything the friendsim characters are trying to achieve isn't going to work out for any of them - the hemospectrum just keeps going, and the signless cult is forced to stay underground, and the culling is just going to keep going. So is hiveswap just ultimately pointless narratively? Joey and dammek swap universes, somehow make their way back home, and then just. Never think of it again? Or does they somehow set up important homestuck plot points from years in the past??
