The most heat-breaking moment in Harry Potter

Many people point to Snape, Dumbledore, The Longbottoms, or commonly Harry’s Parents. But let’s take a moment to talk about this man below!

But my personal most heart-breaking moment. Luna Lovegood’s Father, Xenophilius. He was a very proud believer in Harry Potter, when the Wizarding World was against him. He took the risk of using his platform, a well circulated magazine to keep support for Harry alive. But he did this at the even greater risk, his daughter. Luna is already one of my favorite characters and could go on for days about her. But she was so much like her father and so brave in her own right. Which is why I think her father didn’t even think they’d target him, through her.

The moment that broke me was when he says “They took my Luna, and I don’t know where she is” This is a single parent who lost his wife in a tragic accident, he was considered a outcast in many circles; but he had Luna.

They had taken his daughter and he had to finally question everything he’d ever done. He was faced with a awful choice. Save his daughter or save Harry Potter. I don’t blame him in one bit for picking his daughter, and neither did Harry. Luna was his friend also and if Harry has shown us anything; it’s he will go to the ends of the earth for the ones he cares about.

It’s heart-breaking for everyone in the scene. Cause the Trio know that he has betrayed them the moment he says they took Luna. But they have to accept it and run again. It’s a moment in the story where as a reader you feel for everyone, another set back and another safe space is taken from the three of them. It also comes at a time in the story, where they have been running and looking for so long, they are just so exhausted. But they have to run again.

This one scene, in my mind, set the tone for the final sprint of this whole story. At this point, we now have to question every character we come across that is not one of the Trio. At this point I was sucked in and I don’t think I stopped reading until I was done with the book. It was the hook and the sign that shit was about to get real.

(Not to mention alllllll the info we get in this one scene, the true mission of the Hollows is explained in this one short scene and also he looses everything by the end of this and spends months more waiting for his daughter to come home!)
