An offering for the Professor Layton fandom <3
So... I recently finished the 6 Professor Layton main games and I couldn't help myself~ These games are so much fun and frustration in one neat package orz Honestly, if there was a time to get into them, it's now!
I've been craving something different to draw for such a long time. The color wheel challenge's format granted me the perfect excuse tbh. Given that I didn't want to risk spoilers, I asked a friend for input on who to draw.

Inspector Chelmey’s Casebook: Special Recipe is now finally accessible outside of Japan!
Just like the (somewhat) more widely known Professor Layton and the Mansion of the Deathly Mirror, Chelmey’s Casebook is a Japan-exclusive DoCoMo game. Because of this, it is a game that not only never left Japan at all, but was also considered lost media up until very recently, when someone kindly recorded and published a full playthrough of it.
This two-part cosy little game is a mini story in which the protagonists are Chelmey and Barton, who investigate in St. Mystere in hopes of solving a certain case involving a lost recipe…
Thanks to this playthrough and the help of a few other people, we finally were able to archive the full story and dialogue with text and images! The github website I host now gives a full transcript of what this playthrough showed us, in both its original Japanese text and its (Google Translate) English translation.
» Go read it here! «
All this being said, please please please reblog this to any Layton fan, and ESPECIALLY to Chelmey/Barton fans! This game’s story was adorable and gave us some actual lore and backstory for Chelmey, so do take a look and let the others know that this game exists!
PS: I don’t actually speak Japanese. If you do, Google Translate and I gummed up most of the work for you. The Japanese text is available as is, so you can rely solely on the website for translation work. So please, if you have the time and motivation, it would be a great help to provide me with a more reliable translation!

Lady Dahlia hitting on Professor Layton:
Miracles happen. The hot baroness likes your Lego looking ass:
Dahlia: *sees Layton's picture in the newspaper* Him. I want him. He's the one.
Matthew: Are you sure about this madam? It says here he was responsible for taking down an entire army of ancient robots.
Dahlia: How would that be a problem?
Matthew:........
Dahlia:............
Dahlia: He's here? Excellent. Time to walk all the way to the back of the room so I can dramatically walk all the way towards him.
Dahlia: Ooooh! His hands are so big!!! And so's his hat!!
Dahlia: My nephew may have been murdered, but as long as my man's with me, I'll be alright.
Dahlia:*waiting for her man*
Dahlia: Matthew! Quit interrupting my alone time with my new man!
Dahlia: Must. Resist. Looking. At. His. Backside.
Dahlia: *dramatically falls into Layton's arms* Oh! What a terrible situation! Thank goodness I have such a strong and smart man around to protect me!
Layton: You good?
Dahlia: *confesses a deeply personal dream to a man she's known for a few days*
Dahlia: If you need me, I'll be in my bedroom. In bed. Alone. Feel free to see me if you want.
But Layton never did. RIP.

What are your headcanons for PL characters in the years following Layton and Luke’s disappearance?
For example, when Alfendi got promoted to inspector, I think Chelmey finally resigned from Scotland Yard. Chelmey claimed he wanted to dedicate more time to his wife but also he couldn't bear the thought of working another minute with Alfendi Layton. (Chelmey wishes he was more like Hershel.)
Another example… Dr. Schrader, the eternal bachelor, had a close brush with death during an investigation (possibly searching for Layton). Schrader survived but had to get his leg amputated. He’ll constantly change the story of how he lost his leg
Another example… Janice Quatlane opened her own school of music.
It doesn’t have to be related to LMJ or Layton’s disappearance at all
