JB Week Day 7

Day 7: Which JB moment do you believe is underrated?

Honestly, I don't know that there is one. It's been so many years, every scene has been dissected within an inch of its life, book and show. 😂

I guess one that I see very little talk about on the whole is from the show, when Jaime and Brienne are talking outside of Winterfell (watching Pod train) in 8x02. 

This scene is one of my favorites, because we get Jaime in full I Appreciate You mode, and Brienne wary and watchful.

"I came to Winterfell because..." That silence is so loud and so full of all the reasons he can't say, and then he hits her with "if you'll have me" and she can only nod, too overwhelmed to speak. It's such a perfect representation of the way that it's so often what they don't say where the real feelings lie. And that it's Jaime who finds the words first. I love this scene. (Plus bonus Proud Mama Brienne watching Pod!!)

Will that make a difference? Will she ever forgive him? A dozen questions come to mind, each raising his doubt a notch.

But Jaime nods.

There’s an odd connection between him and her and water. And it has always led him down the right path.

He will make this voyage.

She reads his letter. Then she reads it again.

The lump in her throat only grows. It is accompanied by the pricking sensation in her eyes.

He writes to seek her forgiveness. He pours his heart out.

He wants her trust again. He wants her to make this voyage.

Brienne brushes away the streak of tears. This can’t go wrong anymore.

There’s an odd connection between him and her and water. And it has always led her down the right path.

She will make this voyage.

JB Week - Day Four

Day 4: Favorite Canon Scene book or show?

This is a really tough call. There are so many good moments for both book and show - and shared between the two. I think... oof. This is hard! I think my favorite scene is the red tent scene in Game of Thrones. It's such a perfect distillation of everything I personally love best about them, both individually and together: Brienne's righteous belief, Jaime's well-earned skepticism, the ways the politics of the world keep them apart and how they are still so deeply bound together though neither of them can say a single damn thing out loud about it. How they're always leaving though they both want to stay. "It's yours. It will always be yours." I have watched this scene a hundred times and it still fills me with the most intense waves of emotion, even now.
