i ain't nothing but a lonely rider i do not know who is right, who is wrong sing this song for you to sing when i'm gone
my courier oscar sees himself as a very ordinary person in extraordinary circumstances, surrounded by one of a kind, exceptional people. it's a burden and a marvel for him to decide their fates. arcade’s very special too, even if he’s been trapped in mundanity for most of his life. his fate is yet to be decided

Also also Orion Moreno is the most homophobic homosexual man you'll ever fucking meet. Half of his hatred for Johnson is fueled by lust for his old man body and Judah just sits back and laughs at it half the time. This has been going on for 35 years and nobody's stopping it

Fic where the Enclave remnants were in a polycule with Arcade's parents and they were just the most overbearing gang of parents imaginable but then they all break up when Arcade is a teenager and he's like the stereotypical divorced parents kid but there's five of them.
During For Auld Lang Syne Arcade's like "I guess they can help at Hoover Dam, but I really just want to stop having to go to five different places every time I want to talk to my parents."

You've really gotta respect Daisy Whitman's hiding in plain sight. The woman lives in the same Motel as two ex-NCR First Recon Snipers (Boone's room is underneath hers) and accross fron an ex-NCR Ranger's bungalow (an ex-Ranger who is in contact with NCR constantly).
And unlike, say Judah or Orion who only bring up their pasts during the quest, she openly admits to previously being a Vertibird Pilot who went on 71 missions and was active near Klamath at least once. While she doesn't outright state she was Enclave if you ask if she was a Pilot for the NCR she literally says ""For?" No, not exactly. It was a long time ago. Things are a lot different these days, and those days are way behind me." and, like, the only person more open about their Enclave past who lives in a populated area is Henry and he's living with Super Mutants far away from NCR territory.
But no, she's just there in Novac, she helps dismantle engines and stuff. Daisy Whitman is a valuable member of her community who also just happens to constantly make it very clear that she's got a very questionable past.

FNV Minor Character Poll - Preliminary Voting Round 4-A: Enclave Remnants
Tumblr media
Top left: Cannibal Johnson, former Enclave soldier. —"I'm old and I'm starting to feel it. It's not pleasant, especially when you know your mind's slipping away. We all gotta go sometime, but I was hoping for something a little more heroic."
Top middle: Daisy Whitman, former Enclave pilot. —"Some of the things we did were questionable, I know. That's just how it was back then. Figure I've done enough good to make up for any sins, anyhow."
Top right: Doc Henry, former Enclave scientist. —"I prefer the solitude, and having a bunch of Super Mutants around tends to keep things safe and quiet."
Bottom left: Judah Kreger, former Enclave captain. —"We are here as promised. Now let's kick some ass."
Bottom right: Orion Moreno, former Enclave soldier. —"No amount of caps will ever repay what the NCR robbed from me."

Yeehawgust 22: Reach For The Sky
The Second Battle of Hoover Dam has broke out, and now, the Remnants, under the ‘smooth’ sailing of Daisy, are once again back in action. 471 words.
At Hoover Dam, the battle finally broke out. After weeks of tension, steady build-ups on every side of the war, the Legion had attacked. However, unlike how the last effort had been, this one was not just two sides of a coin. A new player had been added to the Battle, and, shockingly, it wasn't House.
The Remnants didn't care much for this at all. When the day came, Arcade arrived back at the Remnants base, and the hatch leading outside slowly opened. Daisy cheered happily, being the first to load onto the vertibird.
Before Arcade could follow, Judah stopped him by placing an armored hand on his covered shoulder. "You're ready for this?"
Arcade nodded. "I am."
He patted his shoulder, hopping up into the vertibird and holding a steady hand out to help him up. Gratefully, he accepted. "Welcome aboard, then.
"Everyone else gradually joined them, Moreno staying carefully as far away from Johnson as possible, which meant that they found themselves on either side of an annoyed-looking Henry. Judah addressed the group as a whole while Arcade took up an awkward stand beside Daisy.
"Now. Our job here is to assist the Securitrons under Arcade's friend, alright? And we were asked not to target any of the NCR." He spared a stern look at Moreno, who, having already gotten the same talk from the Courier just over a month ago, huffed in irritation. "The Legion is our main enemy, which means we're aiming for red and leather skirts. Objections?"
Nobody spoke up.
"Good. Daisy, make sure you're ready to come back once it's all over, alright?"
"Sure."
Judah nodded. "Alright. Arcade, I'd take a seat. I know how Daisy can get."
Raising an eyebrow beneath his helmet, he did so, and, directly after Judah gave her the go ahead, Daisy placed her hands back on the long forgotten control panel, feeling herself grin in a way she hadn't in decades. Based entirely off of her memories of soaring in the sky, swooping in the air like she had been made to do so, the vertibird followed her motions, and slowly, they were being lifted up.
Moreno grumbled to himself from the back, but Daisy couldn't at all see where the disdain came from as they raised into the sky, almost high-fiving the clouds with their wings. The vertibird shook in the air, and Arcade grabbed at the sides of his chair. Judah chuckled a bit, patting his shoulder again.
"If that's scary, wait 'till we get on moving!" Daisy called, and suddenly the vertibird surged in the sky, like an eagle taking flight. One of the Remnants grumbled, but Daisy sighed contentedly. The clouds had welcomed her and the vertibird back with a kind hug, and the wind served as her guide, just like all those decades ago.

Alrighty, here’s some Enclave Remnants headcannons! This might have a little bit of an overlap with my headcannons about Little Arcade post and my ranking of the remnant’s parenting skills post lol, but this will be focused on the remnants specifically. And maybe also Arcade’s parents. Also this got a little long- oops.
Mark Gannon was a big ol’ nerd. I mean he canonically knew Latin (there’s a quote of him saying a latin phrase in front of Arcade’s character binder). He came off as a soft spoken, affable person but he was brutal when it came to his job as the leading officer in the Devil’s Brigade.
Arcade’s mom was a very witty (and also nerdy) person. She came off as lively, elegant but incredibly cunning. She used to be a scientist in the Enclave. Something with either genetics or mechanical engineering.
Daisy is a lesbian. She was closeted until Arcade was a preteen because of a lot of stigma that was in the Enclave. She was also the first-person Arcade came out to and she helped support him and help him transition.
After the Second Battle of Hoover Dam she became friends with Pearl from the Boomers and then they started dating. They bonded over pilot things.
Johnson was the moral compass in the group. Even though he came to odds with the others when it came to subverting orders, they covered his back and made sure he wouldn’t get in trouble.
Johnson’s first name is Richard.
Judah tries his best to hold the others together but there were times when he felt that he couldn’t really fill Mark’s shoes as the ‘leader’. He'd blame himself if something bad happened to the group.
Daisy helped Arcade’s parents take care of him even before they died. She was close friends with them.
Johnson is bisexual. He also had a teeny crush on Mark Gannon (I don’t think he ever admitted it to anyone- they all just suspected it)
The Remnants homeschooled Arcade when he was little. They didn’t want him accidentally saying something to a teacher or another student- especially in an NCR backed school.
The group met Dr. Henry sometime after Arcade’s mom died. He quit his job working as a scientist in the NCR out of fear that he’d be outed as being formerly Enclave.
Mark Gannon had facial hair (I’m thinking like a long stubble beard)- Once Arcade tried to grow out his facial hair and then Daisy said he looked a lot like his dad. Arcade shaved it off after a minor existential crisis and prefers to be clean shaven cause of that.
Judah is ridiculously good at strategy games. His favorite game is chess.
Moreno threatened to leave the group and join the other members of the Enclave who were leaving for the east coast multiple times when they first left the Enclave. He could never actually bring himself to leave the group though.
I’m really sure Johnson is clinically depressed. Please get him some therapy.
You know what- get all of them therapy.
Henry doesn’t like children very much. He finds that they drain his patience and distract him from his work. He used to give Arcade busy work whenever he had to take care of him so he could focus on his actual research. He still does this whenever Arcade visits him in Jacobstown (much to Arcade’s annoyance).
Johnson and Moreno knew each other since they were teens. They never really got along.
Johnson smokes to calm his nerves.
The remnants gave Arcade a gun when he turned 11 to defend himself. Johnson and Judah taught him how to use it. They gave him his plasma defender on his 18th birthday sometime before he left to study with the Followers.
Moreno had a “tough love” approach when it came to parenting Arcade. Sometimes this led to some…less than ideal parenting situations. He meant well but he isn’t suited to be a parent like- at all. Ex: Once when Arcade was 15, he tried one of Johnson’s cigarettes and Moreno caught him smoking. He then made Arcade smoke the entire box in one sitting as a punishment. Now, Arcade can’t stand the smell of cigarette smoke because of the incident.
Daisy keeps in touch with Old Lady Gibson. She sometimes tells her news on what Henry is up to these days.
All of them are awful at giving advice in their own special way. Judah and Daisy would somewhat miss the point, Johnson goes off into a tangent about his own life/What Mark Would Have Done if it was Arcade asking, Moreno would go off into a tangent about the ‘Good Old Days’, and Henry just wouldn’t care. Daisy is probably the best bet for advice in that she is 100% Supportive even if her advice isn’t the most useful.
Daisy’s hair was strawberry blonde when she was younger.
Arcade gets his nose and his blonde hair from his mom.
They used to move around very often when they first left the Enclave, the longest they stayed in a town was 3 weeks tops. They started to attempt to settle down when Arcade got a little older for his sake.
The Remnants were hesitant to completely explain to Arcade why they were always moving and running away from the NCR because they didn’t want to have him think bad about his dad or the rest of them. Johnson and Judah told him bits and pieces because they didn’t want to completely keep him in the dark and Arcade was somewhat aware of the situation just from observing the others but he didn’t know a lot of details about the Enclave or his father. He found out about the extent of the Enclave’s war crimes through stories/rumors other wastelanders told him before he finally got the full story about what happened to the Enclave from the remnants when he was a preteen.
Arcade used to ask Daisy if he could learn how to fly the vertibird for his birthday or Christmas when he was little.

does the final panel at the end imply that oscar dies?! 😰
you can interpret it like that! oscar definitely could die before arcade and most of his friends but i don't have a fixed headcanon or a story about it
in my mind this panel is about how many deaths arcade (and almost anyone from the wastelands) had seen. the mundanity of death and grief. it could be about arcade visiting his mother's grave (works pretty well to me since i've opened the story with arcade being held and "called" a cottonflower by her). it could be foreshadowing for arcade's death. it could be about anybody else, even arcade witnessing someone else's flowers on someone else's grave. or it could be about how oscar is the type of person you could mourn one day, too, because of his dangerous lifestyle. he had cheated death (not once and not twice) but somehow it feels unnatural to people around him and to himself. i feel like the remnants have similar vibes and they think similar thoughts (survival guilt basically). they're "regular" people, not even particularly "good" ones; they've risked their lives countless times, they've lost their purpose and their future, but who eventually ends up dead? the good-natured (probably) gannons, the only ones with a kid and with this whole intelligent mystique around them (and arcade himself has so many ways to die it feels almost like his destiny). also that's why i compare oscar to judah kreger and cannibal johnson in this comic. especially johnson — he has basically the same lifestyle as oscar (a drifter and a mercenary of sorts) and he's a dead man walking the very moment you meet him. and yet. him and oscar survive. for how long?
so basically the way i see it: oscar *should* be dead but he's not and it sure as hell doesn't feel right (he's a miracle and an oddity of sorts, it's very unusual for such person to change the whole political landscape of mojave). and arcade *should* have a future ahead of him but, speaking of mentioned foreshadowing, he more likely dies or ends up a nobody (he's a case of "wasted potential", a person who was special almost by birth but ended up special only to people who knew him personally, in the context of the comic it's oscar himself and arcade's mom — people who see him as a "cottonflower"). thematically oscar and arcade are like polar opposites
so. yeah. sorry this answer is very vibes-oriented and kinda unrelated to the original question. i rarely have set in stone story elements and i think of most characters as tropes and archetypes. it's very hard to explain. but thanks! i really appreciate any kind of interest

A few headcanons for my miscellaneous favorite New Vegas characters
No particular rhyme or reason behind the selection. Most of these are pretty light-hearted. Just feel like starting up a conversation.
I think everyone should share their own headcanons in the replies, especially for non-human companions or non-companion characters. They are so under-appreciated.
----------
Arcade:
Arcade and Cass are best friends and have been for years. This comes as a surprise to many people. They don't see each other often, but they keep in touch and meet up when they can. Arcade appreciates Cass's up-front attitude, and her dry, sarcastic humor similar to his, and Cass likes that he's non-judgemental, and optimistic, because it balances out her tendencies towards pessimism.
Arcade is autistic and has ADHD. I don't have specific neurodivergence headcanons for the other companions but there's no way he's the only neurodivergent person in that group.
I actually thought he was shorter than average for the first few months I played New Vegas. I was always so confused as to why people drew him so tall in fan art. Now I understand that he's supposed to be really tall, but in my mind he's visually much shorter, so I think it makes a pretty funny headcanon to say that he's, like, 5'8" at best.
He was not the typical, palatable nerd stereotype as a child, but rather the titular "weird kid" who liked to play warrior cats at recess and establish entire micro-societies in his free time. And, not understanding social norms for the life of him, he might tell the neighborhood bully that he'll "have Judah Kreger blast you with a plasma caster" (not knowing that you can't.. say that..)
Arcade and Boone don't get along well. They don't hate each other by any means, but they clash often.
Arcade's closest friends are Cass, Julie Farkas, Emily Ortal, and Veronica.
He got locked in the White Glove Society's meat freezer one time. Not because the courier was trying to leave him in there but because he just got stuck. He's fine now.
This one is courtesy of my dear friend cryptidarin—Arcade, though not a huge fan of the Strip, tolerates it at times because there's a specific drink at the bar at the Tops that he really likes. And, autism be damned, he will go to great lengths to get it. The issue is the name of the drink. It's fucking stupid. It's something like "the Fruity Nutblaster 3000". And Arcade has to grit his teeth and experience the mortifying ordeal of ordering it.
"Hi, can I get the uh.. This one on the menu here?"
"Which one?"
"This one.."
"You mean the raspberry mojito?"
"No, the.. the, what's it called—the one with the lime, and it's green,"
"We've got a lot of drinks like that."
"The.. the fruity nutblaster.."
"Sorry, didn't quite hear that."
(Through gritted teeth) "The fruity nutblaster."
"I must be losing my hearing, what did you say?"
"The fruity nutblaster!"
And in the back the bartenders are howling. That's not the name of the drink, they just change it on the menu every so often to something even stupider so they can watch Arcade struggle with it.
Veronica:
She'd run either a twitter page or a surreal instagram text post/meme page if she could. Maybe something like nocontextwasteland. And it would be an actually good one.
She and Arcade like to go junk-hunting in abandoned buildings to see what they can recover from before the war. They find cool little items and often useful artifacts that Arcade can then turn over to the Followers.
She has a collection of anime holotapes she's built up over the years. Her favorites are Sailor Moon, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Ghost in the Shell. (Arcade often borrows her copy of Ghost in the Shell and watches it over and over again.)
Cass:
Cass is at times brutally honest, and she's very good at giving tough love. Arcade really appreciates her advice for this reason.
Cass is great at caravan and wins just about every game.
She hates talking about her love life in a serious sense, but secretly confides in Arcade and Veronica about her issues.
Cass has a horrible habit/curse of accidentally walking in on people in private/intimate situations. To her credit, she's a good sport about it, but there are a few little things she'll tease people about occasionally.
To put it simply, Cass likes to do a little bit of trolling. She's good at coming up with practical jokes, and in the technical sense, you can guarantee she is wreaking the most havoc possible on the Mojave's rudimentary internet. (She is banned from three NCR messaging boards.)
Particularly with the courier, Cass and the other companions like to play stupid party/drinking games together. Cass usually loses at Never Have I Ever but Arcade has come close a surprising number of times.
Vulpes:
Despite his high status, he is not liked by virtually anyone in the Legion. They tend to see him as skittish and overly-dramatic, or not personable enough. Caesar is the one keeping him alive. Most people just think he's.. annoying. They say that if he were to suddenly go missing one day, the scouting parties would take their sweet time looking for him.
Vulpes has dark hair and brown eyes. I had no idea they were supposed to be blue lul
Vulpes and Antony are good friends. Vulpes likes to spend his time with him and the dogs.
Vulpes uses his trips to the Strip more as opportunities to find "interesting" people rather than ones useful to the Legion. He does do his job most of the time, but sometimes, he just feels like observing people.
Vulpes and Arcade have met before; that's why Arcade instantly recognizes him on the Strip. It was a humiliating encounter that Arcade will not dare admit ever happened. (Vulpes was in disguise at a bar and Arcade saw him reading Dante's Inferno, approached him and started infodumping about it because he was maybe a little tipsy and then started bashing the Legion, and Vulpes was dumbfounded because he thought at first that Arcade was another disguised Legion ally trying to signal that he was on his side. Arcade could not take a hint so Vulpes eventually told him point-blank that he's the Legion's top Frumentarii. The conversation ended abruptly.)
Bonus:
Personally I don't think you need any "justification" or "reason" to assume a character is trans so essentially any of them could be, but in particular I like to think that Arcade and Julie Farkas are trans.
I like to think that some elements of modern/pop culture and rudimentary internet have survived. For that reason I say Arcade is an avid fan of music artists like Bad Religion, Black Dresses, and she/Lain Volta. Why? Because I like them. No good reasons. That's it. LOL
(I also think it would be extremely funny if the artists we consider to be niche, underground and/or largely out of the mainstream ended up being the only ones whose content survived the war.)

working on my enclave remnants characterisations for my longfic & I decided Arcade doesn’t know when he first killed someone due to this incident:
Moreno: Nice shot, kid! Arcade: Did I… kill him?? :o Moreno: Haha yeah you wasted that NCR fu— I mean, man. Ahem. Anyway, here’s to many more! I still remember killing my first mutie :) Arcade: waaah Johnson: Mutie?? Ugh. Arcade, listen to me. You were defending yourself and your mother - you didn’t do anything wrong. Lydia: He didn’t do anything! Sweetie, you didn’t kill that man. He’s — he’s not even dead— Daisy: Oh, c’mon, Lydia, he isn’t gonna believe that. But look, kid, your mom’s right: you didn’t kill him. You can’t aim - you’re half-blind for god’s sake. I don’t know what your dad would make of it— Lydia: Daisy! Daisy: Well, he’s got time to grow into it or whatever. Lydia: Arcade, your father would definitely be proud of you. Very proud of you. Moreno: For what? You’re saying he didn’t even kill him… (He did though.) Johnson: (Yeah :/) Judah Kreger: I don’t care who killed who, we need to get out of here!
Arcade reminiscing in 2281: hehe my fambly :)

arcade
Arcade Israel Gannon is a member of the Followers of the Apocalypse and possible companion in 2281.
Arcade was an only child, the son of an Enclave officer, born at a military base in Navarro. His father passed away when he was young, but the circumstances and leading to his death were never shared with him. When the New California Republic sacked Navarro, he and his mother fled with troopers from his father's old unit. The group moved south, attempting to integrate, but were still sought by the NCR and Brotherhood of Steel, requiring repetitive relocation to the fringes.
Gannon credits the Followers of the Apocalypse for his knowledge base, including having received his medical training from the group while he lived within the NCR. His drive to help people and enjoyment of learning led him to move to the New Vegas area, where communities were especially in need of assistance. From his tent in Freeside's Old Mormon Fort, Arcade is currently researching alternative treatments for common illnesses and injuries, utilizing local flora such as barrel cacti.
Intentionally deflecting questions about himself at first, he will only describe in detail finding his niche in conducting research, sharing his goals of developing new ways of producing medical supplies as pre-War medical supplies are finite in number. Shortly thereafter, he will admit that the Followers may have overextended themselves by reaching out to the individuals there, but is determined to assist where no one else would. In addition, he will comment that research into his projects are slow going, but that he is enthusiastic about the possibility of his work helping people regardless.
He has remained close with the Enclave remnants who he sees as family. His closest bond is with Daisy Whitman, who he describes as being "the only woman in his life" after the death of his mother. He shares with the Courier that he has had many men in his life, but that "lovers make poor confidantes," instead choosing to remain close to Daisy, who never had children of her own and was always willing to listen. Arcade remembers Orion Moreno's unwavering support of the Enclave, and Cannibal Johnson's distain for it. He will also share that Judah Kreger did his best to make Arcade feel welcome in the group, doing so out of a sense of loyalty to his late father.
Arcade laments not being able to completely move past growing up without a father figure, wondering if what he had planned for him, and if those plans aligned with reality. He makes peace with what the remnant members recount about his father's good character, sharing that although he won't attempt to fill his father's shoes, he aims to do his best to follow in his footsteps in terms of making a difference in the lives of others. He feels a strong desire to repay the remnants for their support throughout his life, ultimately accepting that their path and his own were different, and that he is satisfied with having chosen the direction he did.
Arcade is strongly averse to groups he views as fascist or imperialist, such as the New California Republic and Caesar's Legion. Arcade feels strongly about Caesar's Legion and their potential desirous effects on the area, noting Caesar's inability to learn from the past, instead recreating it.

How would the Remnants parent Arcade?
Doctor Henry has more of a teacher role than a parental role. He’s where Arcade gained his love of science. Though Henry can be very short/blunt with people, he had a lot more patience for Arcade.
Just like in everyday life, Orion Moreno and Cannibal Johnson argue so much about what to teach Arcade that Judah Kreger had to step in and separate the two. Orion didn’t really reach out to Arcade much, unlike Johnson. Johnson honestly cared about Arcade.
Judah Kreger treated Arcade like he was his own. He was kind and understanding, and always did his best to be there for him.
Daisy Whitman adored Arcade, doting on him whenever she had the chance. She loved to tell him (appropriate) stories when he was young and loved to describe what it was like flying and what it looked like down below.

#1-#10 and #12-20 for your courier 😺✨
Oh my gosh this is so many! I’ll try to do the best I can.
1. Faction: Technically she’s aligned with Yes-Man, but she’s Followers all the way. She’s too optimistic and idealistic to be anything else.
2. Preferred Armor: she can use power armor after getting training from Judah Kreger, but after it broke down in the Big MT, she chooses not to. Right now, her “uniform” is Mobius’s Labcoat and the Gannon Power Helmet. I really like how they look together, it gives off a “Rocketeer” vibe. (Sorry for no pictures, I’ll try to get some as soon as she’s out of the Sierra Madre)
3. Weapon type: she’s a pacifist except when absolutely necessary, at which point she uses Energy Weapons.
4. Highest Skills: she’s a talented doctor and scientist, meaning that Medicine and Science are her highest skills. She also has a high speech skill (it was the only way to recruit Arcade), although this often translates to “says endearing things that make people like her” rather than the typical smooth talker. During OWB, she upped her stealth skill in order to better avoid robodogs, nightstalkers, and lobotomites, at least until she got the Stealth Suit. She’s working on Survival and Repair in the Sierra Madre right now. Her lowest are Barter and Guns.
5. SPECIAL: S 6 P 9 E 7 C 6 I 10 A 4 L 6
6. (Important) Perks: Cherchez la Femme, Big Brained, Comprehension, Computer Whiz, Educated, Four Eyes, Good Natured, Swift Learner, Lessons Learned. Obviously that’s not all of them but it’s the ones that matter most to her character.
7. Companions: She’s very close with Arcade, Veronica, and Christine, and loves her pets/robot friends Rex and Ed-E. God gets on her nerves, but she pities him more than anything else. Dean’s a bastard, but he’s a useful bastard, and so she deals with him and tries to stay in his good graces.
8. Relationships: No romantic partners, no. Most women aren’t interested in a gal covered in someone else’s blood, and the ones who would be are usually disinterested when they learn that the other person is still alive. She did harbor a mini-crush on Veronica when they first met, but that stopped cold when they first talked about Christine.
9. Demographics: white lesbian.
10. She was born and raised in Freeside, helping her mother in and around the Old Mormon Fort. They had a small apartment near Mick and Ralph’s.
12. I’m going to modify this question, and answer “How did the courier affect her?”. To that end, I don’t think she ever wanted a bigger life than a Wasteland medic, because a) it suited her and b) she knew she was doing real good in the Mojave. But when she was mistaken for the courier and saw what House was planning, she realized she had to step up and do what had to be done, for the good of the Mojave.
13. How did she deal with Benny: regrettably, she had to abandon him in the Fort, as there was no way for her and Arcade to fight their way out. It’s entirely possible that decision will come back to bite her eventually.
14. NCR/Legion rep: I think by this point she’s certainly a blip on their radars, especially the Legion, considering she visited their leader’s camp. She was stationed at Camp Golf briefly as a medic, but they haven’t connected the dots of her former life to her current. Besides that, her only direct interaction with the NCR thus far has been fixing the solar panels at Helios One and creating a redundancy in case the dam fell. Once she returns from the Sierra Madre, though, she’s going to start forging alliance across the Mojave, and that’s going to get their attention.
15. Freeside Rep: to them, Sophia is a shining example of what a kid from Freeside can grow up to become. The Kings all love her, especially after stopping a war between the gang and the NCR and fixing the King’s robo-dog. Mick and Ralph watched her grow up and always give her discounts on whatever she needs. Even the Garetts and the Van Graffs admire her from afar, and she often buys ammo for her weapons from the Silver Rush. And obviously, she’s in very good graces with the Followers of the Apocalypse.
16. Goodsprings/Novac/Primm Rep: not a lot, honestly. She stopped in and fixed Johnson Nash’s broken down eyebot for him, but other than, she doesn’t visit them very often.
17. Minor faction Rep: she actually hasn’t met any of the factions besides the Khans yet. While recovering at the Old Mormon Fort from her adventures in the Big MT, she discovered that the Followers had helped the Khans in the past, which encouraged her to reforge the alliance. She’s never interacted with the Brotherhood directly, only with its agents: Veronica, Christine, and Father Elijah, which has given her a … mixed reaction. I think she’ll like the Boomers once she gets to know them; they’re good people if a little weaponry-obsessed. The Gangers can rot.
18. NV Strip Rep: House isn’t fond of Sophia, but his opinion doesn’t matter much anymore. After installing Cachino in charge of the Omertas, she’s made sure that they won’t make any trouble with her. The Chairmen vaguely recognize her as “that doll that made Benny wig out and disappear” but don’t really know much beyond that. She knows something is up with the White Gloves, but she can’t figure it out. And the NCR Military Police are a little uneasy about the new faces on all the Securitrons, but they haven’t let it bother them yet.
19. Motives: originally, she just wanted to stop House out of fear that he would use the newly-upgraded Securitrons to take over Freeside. But she quickly realized that a power vacuum on that scale would only lead to the collapse of New Vegas and the surrounding area, allowing either Caesar or the NCR to move in and take over. Her ideal government is a loose syndicate of mutually-cooperating communities, with a newly-assertive Yes Man to defuse situations, using Securitrons if necessary. The NCR is welcome to remain in the Mojave, but they have to leave the greater New Vegas area alone and stop conquering absorbing communities - if they want to make a nation, they have to do it themselves. The Legion can, again, rot.
20. Theme song: I think there’d be a different one for each period of her story. (Note: not all of these are period correct, but I tried to fit the Old West vibe). When she’s just a wasteland medic, I think Ain’t That A Kick In the Head by Dean Martin fits her outlook on life and optimistic personality. From her trip to the Fort to just after assembling the Enclave Remnants, Short Change Hero by the Heavy fits how she’s panicky and suddenly realizes the enormity of her place in the Wasteland, even though she doesn’t want it. Throughout the Big MT, Devil at the Door by the Highlonesome encapsulates how she feels: scared, alone, surrounded by enemies and an expendable pawn for greater beings. But once she gets her brain back from Mobius and realizes the truth of why she was brought to the Big MT, her theme song changes to The World Ender by Lord Huron as she comes back from the brink of death and despair to become an unstoppable juggernaut of revenge, tearing down first the Think Tank, then tracking Elijah and Christine to the Sierra Madre to find out who Elijah is and then kick his ass for putting a bomb collar on her and Christine. If there’s another theme song for post-Dead Money, I haven’t found it yet.
Thanks for all the questions OP! It was really fun to think of answers to all of these.
