Okay, so I just finished my first watch of s2 of 9-1-1, and here are my overall thoughts:

- So Abby just completely disappeared? No decency to tell Buck they were over? No wonder I’d never really heard about her.

- I’ve only known Eddie for one season but if anything happened to him I would kill everyone and then myself.

- Guys, when I’d heard about the Buck and Eddie ship, I’d expected subtle queer coding, not blatant flirting…? The times they interacted this season were charged with sexual energy, what do you MEAN some people don’t see it?? I guess if you see that shit for seasons and then nothing ever happens about it, I can see why people would complain of blatant queerbaiting.

- in kind of the same point as the last… Buck and Eddie don’t really seem like best friends yet (because their interactions are few and far between, and when they do interact, it’s laden with sexual tension), but I ADORE how much Buck already seems to care for Christopher. I know there is much more to come, but it’s cute seeing them in the early days.

- The threads for Buck’s bisexuality have been there from the beginning btw, said as someone who knows very little about what the plans were. If the intention was to have Buck be a straight man, they maybe shouldn’t have had him connect with basically every gay person he meets & then stare at boys like that.

- The character development happening with every single one of the characters is soooo satisfying. This show is addictive. My fav character is definitely still Buck, but Hen is a very close second.

- I love Maddie so much, and her story is very heartbreaking. Mildly triggering, tbh, but important.

I definitely liked this season better. The character dynamics are more natural now, storylines are getting more satisfying conclusions (though I would still love more of the stuff they mention off screen to happen ON screen), and because the season was so much longer, there were episodes that were dedicated to the backstories of the characters…which helped me connect more with them. I love every character in the 118 and I’m nervous about what’s coming (bc I know the tsunami is coming 👀)

“You want to take me where?” You questioned your siblings. One minute, you were focused on doing your job for your first day. The next minute, your siblings were calling you and harassing you about letting them take you out somewhere to celebrate.

Celebrate what you might ask.

You were locked up on drug charges for the last 7 years and you were recently released on parole for good behavior. You were released four months ago and for four months straight, your two brothers and sister kept hounding you to let them throw a party or something. Each time you said no because truthfully, there wasn’t anything to celebrate in your opinion. However, they strongly disagreed.

“To a strip club. One of my homies recommended it to me, it’ll be fun” Your older brother Akeem stated.

“I don’t got no money for no strip club. I just started this job today” You responded and sorted the packages in the truck.

“Don’t worry about that. We got you covered, all you have to do is say yes you’re going” Your younger brother Jeremiah said.

“Nah I’m good, y’all go have fun though” You declined.

You hear your siblings moan and groan out of frustration due to you declining to celebrate again. You just ignored it like usual.

“You irk the shit out of me. You’ve been out for four months and haven’t done a single fun thing yet. I know you’re trying to adjust to the outside world again but a part of adjusting is to have fun. So, come out and let us celebrate being able to hold you again, talk to you face to face and not behind some glass, and be able to experience life again” Your sister Eve ranted.

Even though, you felt the way you felt about being celebrated. Eve was right. Being behind bars for seven years did a number on your mental health, not being able to freely see your loved ones was rough.

You sighed, “If I say yes, will you leave me alone after this?”

“No promises” Akeem smiled.

You rolled your eyes with a smile, “Fine whatever. What time should I be ready?”

Eve, Akeem, and Jeremiah all shouted yes and told you to be ready by 9. You nodded hung up the phone and got back to work.

“What the fuck am I going to wear?”

You finished your first day at work by 5 and with praise from your supervisor. You worked at FedEx, sorting packages and loading up trucks for deliveries. You were surprised they even hired you since your record. You were rejected from numerous jobs because of it and you were about to give up when they called you.

“Nana I’m home” You called out to your grandmother Sheryl as you entered the house. You took your shoes off by the door and hung your jacket on the hook.

“Hey sweetie, how was your first day?” Sheryl asked.

“It was alright, easy work, easy day” You shrugged and sat on the couch.

“Hmm, that’s good. Your dinner is in the microwave. I got to leave in a minute, I’m going to bingo” Sheryl said.

“Cool” You replied and watched Family Feud on the TV.

“Got any plans tonight?” Sheryl asked.

“I was planning on just taking a shower, eating, and going to bed. But your other grandchildren are dragging me out tonight against my will” You rolled your eyes.

“Oh lord, now don’t you go out and get yourself in trouble fooling with your brothers and sister. You need to stay focused, you hear me” Sheryl demanded.

“Yes ma’am” You replied.

“Alright now,” Sheryl said and turned her attention toward the TV.

You sat there until the Family Feud episode ended and then went to the kitchen. You opened the microwave and grabbed your plate.

“Yes!” You quietly cheered when you saw she made baked chicken, mac and cheese, cornbread, and string beans. You were definitely going to get the itis after eating this. You heat it up and basically inhale the food and sweet ice tea.

Not long after, Sheryl left to go to bingo as you were in the shower. You got dressed in some shorts and a tank top. You went back on the couch and laid across which was technically your bed. The other spare room your grandmother had was already preoccupied by your Uncle who was a truck driver. He was on the road but due to be back in a couple of days.

You woke up to the sound of your phone constantly ringing and dinging from calls and texts. You rubbed the sleep from your eyes and grabbed it from the coffee table.

You groan and take a minute to collect yourself before getting up and getting dressed. You put on some loose fit jeans, a white undershirt, a tan long sleeve shirt, and your Timberlands. You make sure your hair is straight and looking good. You also may have stolen some of your uncle’s cologne.

You exit the house, making sure it’s locked up.

“Damn took you forever bitch” Eve commented without looking up from her phone.

“Shut up cornflakes” You replied and smacked her phone out of her hand. Eve sucked her teeth and mumbled an insult under her breath.

“Come on let’s go I’m ready to get a lap dance” Jeremiah bounced excitedly in the passenger seat.

You roll your eyes at your excited brother and got in the backseat next to Eve. Once you were inside the car, you felt a hard smack to the back of your head.

“That was for smacking my phone out my hand bitch” She grumbled.

You muttered an ‘ow’ and rubbed the spot that hurt. Soon after Akeem starts the journey to the strip club. The two boys in the front were engrossed in a conversation about attempting to take a girl home for the night. While Eve hasn’t taken her eyes off her phone since you left the house. You wanted to question it but also didn’t want to pry into her business.

Instead, you looked out the window. You took in the passing scenery. You savored it actually. You didn’t know how much you’ll miss seeing the night life in your city until you got locked up. People watching and observing how other people how fun at night was a great pass time for you.

You didn’t realize how deep into your thoughts you were until you noticed the car stopped outside a building. Your siblings got out and you followed behind them. You make your way to the back of line, thinking that’s what supposed to do. But you noticed your siblings skipped to the front by the bouncers.

“Yo what you doing? Get up here” Jeremiah ushered you.

You gave a sheepish smile to everyone in the line as you passed them. Jeremiah grabbed your shoulders and lead you in strip club.

“How we get to skip all those people?” You asked.

“Connections baby” Jeremiah smirked before digging into his pocket. He then pulled out a band (1,000 if you didn’t know). The younger boy then placed it into your hand.

“What the fuck you giving me this for?” You questioned confused.

“Uh to disperse among all the talented and beautiful sexy ladies in this building. Or you can wipe your ass with it I don’t know and I don’t care” Jeremiah shrugged and left your side before you can even reject it.

You stood there for a minute looking stupid before you pocketed the money. Honestly, you didn’t know what to do with yourself. It smelt like strong ass marijuana and cheap fruity cologne. The bass from the music that was currently playing was vibrating your whole body. Quickly, you found a seat at the front of the stage.

You looked around and saw Jeremiah getting a lap dance in a private room. Akeem was at the bar waiting on his drink. Eve was seen at a booth with a bunch of girls laughing hard.

They beg you to take you out and then leave you as soon they can. You internally roll your eyes at the thought.

You felt a tap on your shoulder and saw a woman with nothing but a bikini top and a thong next to you.

“Follow me” She smiled and grabbed your hand.

You were confused but did as the lady told. She walked you up some stairs and towards a folding chair. You now realize that you’re on stage.

“Wait I-I don’t-”

“Enjoy the show” The woman cut you off. She gave you a wink before walking off the stage.

Suddenly, the lights in the room changed to a dark sultry red and the music cut off. Everyone’s eyes was now turned to the stage including your siblings.

“Alright, everyone for the first time in almost a year please clap your hands, hide your boners, and welcome back to the building Naughty.” The DJ introduced.

It was silent for a moment before you heard the sound of heels clicking on the floor behind you. You turned your head a little behind you and saw a short woman dressed in all red. From the bright red lacy bra corset top to her red 6-inch stilettos. You turned back around when she stood behind you as the beat of a familiar song played. It was Naughty Girl by Beyoncé, how ironic.

You felt her hands glide down the front of your body. Her scent was intoxicating, it was a mix of something fruity and sexy. You were incited by it.

She stopped just a breath away from your face. She expected you to flinch like everyone person she brought up on stage but to her surprise, you didn’t move an inch.

After the chorus, she slid down again and got off the pole. Your eyes now took the time to wander over her body. You bit your lip and a finger lifts your chin to her face again. She straddle your legs and you kept your hands to your side.

You saw the rule about no touching the dancers. It was painted in big bold letter, you couldn’t miss it.

She leaned in towards your face and you thought your lips were going to brush against each other for a second. But she pulled back a millisecond before they could.

Meanwhile, the woman on top of you applauded your self control. Most people tap out way before this part.

She then grabbed onto the pole again and climbed up it. She spin on it without any hands this time just core and leg strength. For the finale, she slid down the pole and into a split.

At the end of the song, the whole place was cheering loudly. You were blinded by the sight of falling money everywhere.

“Give it up for Naughty!” The DJ yelled and made the place cheer even louder than before.

You watched as the woman stood up and waved to everyone. Once she locked eyes with you again, she smirked and gave you a wink. She then walked off the stage.

After you were escorted off the stage and made your way to your siblings. They all stared at your flushed face with a grin.

“Money well spent” Akeem commented.

“You paid for that?” You questioned.

“Sure did. We knew if you agreed all you were going to do is either sit at the bar or watch the dancers and occasionally throw money. We had to let you experience a little something” Eve replied.

“And experience something you did” Jeremiah laughed.

You chuckled because you couldn’t even be upset at them. You had a amazing time and it was one for the books.

For the rest of the night, you hung out with your siblings, drinking and chatting. But your mind was still stuck on the sexy small woman named Naughty.

Alright gang I have been doing math and I’m calling it

We’re gonna end season 1 of the anime on chapter 50 which is great for spoilers below the cut

50’s the golden door, and our first changeling episode, so it’s a reeeeeally good spot to end season 1

51 picks up with the gargoyles just inside the door, so it’s a good place to begin again, and since we’re already on schedule to get to 50 with 2 chapters/episode

(Episode 9 of the anime was chapters 19 and 20 because of those two 3-chapter eps)

This is a good thing too cuz with 24 eps we’d otherwise have finished at chapter 48… which is Senshi getting kidnapped by the griffin, and then his backstory would start season 2, and nobody wants that

I am heartbroken about this because FUCKING CHAPTER 52. IT’S THE GODDAMN CANARIES.

We’ll see them for like 5 minutes in episode 22 and I am INCONSOLABLE

My works tab claims the number to be twenty two, but at least one is a screen-reader-friendly duplicate of a Percy Jackson themed Reskin of Kids on Brooms, so it's more like...twenty one. I'd also take off of Blister Pack one-shots because they're tiny but they are one shots and those are technically valid, so...

Naruto.

...So I what I usually write and what I actually publish to ao3 are pretty different 😅 I've been doing a bunch of dp x dc fics as of late, and one dc x marvel fic, but if left to my own devices, I go back to Star Wars and Naruto and a lot of Naruto, and I have a surprising word count on a Supernatural fic which is odd considering I've never actually finished an episode of the show before.

Once. I will occasionally write stuff for myself, but the reviews on the one posted smut chapter were generally that it was very, very funny. This does not give me much feedback to work off of lmao

The answer to both questions are dp x dc and also dp x dc. And that's generally tame as far as crossovers go.

I don't believe in genuine OTPs, but whatever Desiree!Janet and Bruce have going on in Drake Manor is hysterical to me. I hope they get divorced and then break up and then get back together and then break up again.

I want to finish Trade of Trickery. I think it will take time. But I am determined to do it. We're halfway through the Sea of Monsters and I am delusional enough to think I can make it if I just power through in some distant future

I am the recipient of divine visions which keep me going. The hard part is staying consistent when I lose steam.

Google translate is my friend, and I don't necessarily believe in providing translations. There's no irl subtitles. If the characters are meant to understand, I'll leave stuff around to make the context and content clear, but like, no creo que es necesario en todos situaciónes.

19. First Fandom you wrote for?

...Naruto...maybe...? No I'm wrong. It was Fairy Cube. My first divine visions/early fic thoughts were from Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness series and my first fandom I actually wrote/published fic for was Fairy Cube. Don't ask what account it was on. I borrowed my friend's ffn account. I don't remember the username anymore.

20. Favorite Fic you’ve written?

....hoo boy. Tie for Quiet Respite and Trade of Trickery. I love Comets and Drake Manor has a special place in my heart, but QR feels uniquely mine in ways that my dp x dc fics sometimes don't, and Trickery really is a love story about Sally Jackson and forgotten Demigod kids. Nothing else hits. Nothing else is the same. It's about collecting what you can in your hands and taking it with you.

Ground rules: 1. I had to have watched this SPECIFICALLY for no reason other than a Camelot actor. Meaning no Phillipa's many great works aren't here. I just watched Hamilton because it was well made not specifically for her. (but like she WAS THERE and she ate it up so BONUS!) 2. I'm doing the bad ones for comedic purposes so I won't talk about Spain but like just know. I don't tolerate Spain. I. LOVE. SPAIN. Spain would blow all these entries out of the water. Verdict: ??/10

Definitely the most ""refined and pristine"" of the bunch I am about to talk about, I acknowledge this. But it turns out I didn't care about mormons when I saw Book of Mormon back in the day and went "eh." and I STILL DON'T CARE ABOUT THEM NOW. I unfortunately was not strong enough to finish this show. The first two episodes barely had Andrew Burnap and it was hard to continue knowing that there was some unsavvvvourrryyyy content waiting ahead of me. I'm always torn when talking about shows like this like what do you do when you know it's technically more competent but alsooo....it's more boring to you?

Honestly I love the glasses on Phillipa Soo, they got her in some fun outfits. I love the quirked up weirdo lesbian vibes. I love how she collects girlfriends like accessories. I would watch a movie about this character. Can I have a sequel??? There's a scene where she is mercilessly chopping a cucumber with a very sharp knife, it turns out my type is Phillipa Soo threatening murder I refuse to unpack that :)

Actually AWFUL. Like in a it barely feels like a movie kind of way. It's like it was made by someone they plucked off the street. They did my girl so dirty. This whole movie has the aesthetic of a high schooler's first photoshop project being a mood board inspired by a Taylor Swift song but all they use is the first 5 images you find on google search when you type in 'fall' and 'latte'. This movie told me "salt is spicy :(((" This is like if you could turn a cursive live, laugh, love sign into a look of a whole movie. They are dressing Phillipa Soo up like the most interesting thing she has to put on her dating profile is "I like reading :)". Two points though because for exactly one brief scene she was shoulder out, hair swooped dramatically and I whispered "slay".

Charmed (2018)

My worstie. My bestie. The beginning of the end. The moment that cemented that my bar was low. Honestly this would have been far and away the worst thing I watched for a Camelot cast member but One True Loves swooped in last minute and took home the gold(?) for being even more incompetent and even cheaper. I honestly have way too much to say about it though, which is proof that I somehow got emotionally invested. I'm convinced they had some sort of business deal struck with the Zara brand because everyone dresses like a business casual 35 year old woman on her way to the office (NO MATTER WHAT THEIR PERSONALITY IS THEY ALL DRESS LIKE THIS.) They must be getting awful direction or something because nooobody is doing a good job in the acting department (I'm typing this through tears. I'm choking and sobbing as I confess this to you all). There's DEFINITELYYYY a colourism problem. The show does NOT know how to utilize it's fun setting seriously for a show with witches you'd be SHOCKED how little magic is used in this show. THERE'S SO LITTLE WHIMSY!! and yet............I found myself bewitched (I'm sorry) by the show. I have given episodes rewatches. I have literally fallen to the floor, on all fours, WHEEZING, watching the bad credit card product placement in one of the episodes. My friend and I got to the episode where they say 'The curse is lifted! :) But the struggle continues' (the struggle....IS RACISM!!!) and our jaws DROPPED. A character projectile vomited on a man and he EXPLODED and all that were left were his boots in a smoking pile. It sucks but in a way I can't look away from. I wish there were ungodly amounts of seasons of this show. I wish Jordan Donica was trapped in a 13 season cycle of being this show's damsel in distress (no actually no I don't)

thoughts on umineko 👀?

CW: this post is written with no aim to hide spoilers. It doesn't reveal any twists but speaks candidly about characters and events all the way until the end of the game.

Ah, I am delighted to be asked. It's been just over a week since we finished episode 8 and it's been rattling about as a slow digest.

The short version is that I loved it. It is the most I have felt moved by a piece of comprehensive genre fiction (I shall avoid the term "deconstruction", I feel that is only an aspect of what's at play here) outside of Twin Peaks, which remains the all-time champion in my world.

We're going to be writing a far more comprehensive post about it in the coming weeks, so consider this a preview before I give my thoughts.

The issue with commenting on Umineko is that you have to approach it a number of things.

It is a story of generational trauma and the relationship between a trauma survivor and the memories of an estranged family, which is something I resonated with deeply.

It is a genre piece that communicates with the mystery/detective novel genre in a manner that simultaneously interrogates its conceits via multiple famous author rule-sets, criticizes its conventions via parodies (most famously Erika, the sociopath detective who literally debates a 9 year old on how sleight of hand magic tricks are performed) and attempts to be itself one by the constant refrain of "keep thinking" and the beautiful innovation of red truth.

It is also an excessively Anime piece of media that has all the hallmarks of the genre that truly make me unable to actually recommend it to people who aren't familiar with and comfortable with the little things that anime fans have just had to adapt to in order to enjoy anime.

Oh and it's a meme fountain. I legitimately believe that 150 hours of reading was worth it in the end so that I could watch and enjoy this video, which is objectively the most high effort shitpost on the internet:

I enjoyed a mystery novel that actively engaged in communication with the audience, asking them to play along. I deeply admired the fact that Wilard Wright answered to the core mysteries of the saga with the same grace that Penn and Teller would tell a magician on Fool Me how their trick worked without those who do not know being spoiled.

In fact that is the best way to engage with the mystery in the book from my experience. It's simply a matter of how one engages with stage magic and as someone who is quite obsessed with stage magic it was wonderful to see the entire mystery novel genre treated like a magic trick that one could either admire the craft of, engage with as a piece of intricate skill or try to tear apart heartlessly.

Ryukishi is very much a magician putting on a heartfelt show and magic represents love, trust and an agreement between the author and the audience. He will create a story for you to engage with but you must engage with the story. To try and peel apart the mystery without engaging with the heart is tantamount to being a drunken heckler at a stage show who removes the cloth from a table to reveal the beautiful assistant hiding beneath. Congratulations, you have proven magic doesn't exist. But everyone in the audience knew that going in. We were here for a show and whether you turn your brain off and watch and believe in magic for a little while or are fascinated by the craft and inspired to join in the magic yourself, if you engage with the heart of it then you are respecting the passion being put on stage or on paper.

Basically do not be Furudo Erika and ruin a 9 year-old's sense of wonder.

In that regard, this book truly felt like it was something I was always destined to get to.

The core theme "Without love it cannot be seen" is a beautiful one and something that will cause me to reevaluate how I regard my emotional attachments to my memory.

I'll get into it in more detail with the long post later, but there's a level of nuance of the sentiment that isn't fully embraced by the story as Ange's quest ends with a binary choice and that meant the two sides of the argument were displayed in extremes, something which Ange is fully aware of, but it gives a lot to talk and type about that isn't spelled out in the text.

Suffice to say, I am firm in my belief that trusting other people, thinking well of them and accepting their reality into your own is a good thing.

Maybe don't go as far as Battler does and erase all the uncomfortable truths of a person just because your personal relationship with them is positive. But then again I think the Fight Man approaches his recollection of events with the lens of "I just spent 6 years not talking to my parents and I wish I could get that time back" having him decide that if he had ignored Rudolf's flaws then he could have had more time with him.

It's a complicated narrative and I'm no way near done dissecting it yet.

Regardless. That will all wait until the large post.

It's a fantastic game with wonderful themes and speaks directly to me in many languages that I already speak fluently.

When I do my Media, Myself and I analysis of it I'll likely do full game spoiler deep dive.

For now, I loved it. It's a remarkable tale. I think I'm a bit too old for the type of anime nonsense it stylizes itself as but the prose is pure. I wish Ryukishi had an editor, though.

I am deeply sad I did not get to it sooner. When it was first introduced to me in the early 2010s the international release was not yet out. I couldn't find a way to engage with it and I had forgotten about it largely by the time I had access. A shame as Ange is the exact type of character we would have projected onto back in our pre-transition days.

I would have loved to have told the person who got me interested in it how much I adored it.

Oh and for the record, I am an original sprites purist.

game plot:

Cody and May, a married couple, are planning on getting a divorce. After telling their daughter Rose the news, she takes her hand-made dolls, which look like her parents, into the family shed and tries to repair their relationship by play-acting. The parents find themselves trapped inside the dolls' bodies as a consequence of Rose's tears landing on the dolls. Dr. Hakim, who has assumed the anthropomorphic form of his relationship therapy book, tells May and Cody that he has been given the job of trying to fix their relationship as they try to reach Rose.

It nothing new for them to be playing together or even being a couple in-game allegedly ( read this for an example ) but this is just another level. Lol. A married couple working on their relationship? and them having to go through different games / tasks to get their happy ending.

This is like a 9 hour game play of it lol but what I gathered is the two people playing this have different strength and weaknesses and need to work together and complete the tasks. You have a split screen so you can see what the other person is doing but there are levels that the characters are together.

BXGs are pulling the “tacit understanding” card and I have to agree. This kind of game will really test that, like how partners do. I’m not saying only couples will be able to succeed in this but if we’re talking about zz/wyb. LOL. you know what I mean. They can finish each other’s sentences and communicate just by looking at each other. They laugh at things no one gets but the two of them. They may seem different — sports student and art student right? but that actually makes them stronger because they complement e/o.

This is a perfect game for them. They can play other games similar to this but they really had to pick one that’s about a couple lol 😂 granted, it is a pretty popular one so maybe they saw it and decided to play.

Add to that Yibo’s recent Q&A with Vogue Plus, where he was asked what game he wants to do in VR and he said skiing. There is a level that both them are skiing. Maybe that’s where he got the idea. We also know their plans to ski together, so this is just 🥺.

The thought of them making an effort to bridge the gap when they are apart makes me so soft. Initial Impression: Ahh, the tiktok clips I saw of eps 1 - 2 drove me a bit crazy, I loveee boyish, cute tops and then learned that apparently this is the A/B/O drama? but they’re both alphas (or rather - spoiler from tiktok comments - that Charlie’s an enigma?). and also seems like Charlie’s some sort of spy who will betray Babe? Man I kinda wanna just start watching it lol but it doesn’t end till Feb 9 next year smh give me 2 eps a week smh Anyway idk I feel like it has a lot of tropes I like, so maybe... if they can pull it off... I’d be thankful

Overall Impression: This show had everything: non-traditional alpha/alpha relationship, racecar competitions, x-men like superpowers, child trafficking, pseudo-incest if you think about it (from Kenta's side at least) and more. And it didn't have a super strong script, there were nonsensical elements and plot holes that didn't get addressed and things that happened to just move the plot along, but it was a fun watch nonetheless, both for the novelty and the entertainment factor. Babe was a very compelling character with his past and how he behaves in the present and his relationships with Tony/Way/people in general. Also helped that Pavel did a really good job with him and acted his ass off, there were quite a few emotional moments in there. I agree with some people's comments that I wish Charlie's actor Pooh as a better actor. And his character wasn't as developed or with depth as the other ones either, like in terms of emotions I guess. Although I really liked Charlie/Babe, my true ship winners might be Pete/Kenta in a Not Me ToddBlack fashion, to be honest, with Kenta as maybe my favourite character (2nd is Babe). They gave us like 2 tiny hints that they might know each other and waited until literally last 10 mins of episode 11 out of 13 to lay out their history. They have an interesting friends (-> brothers/crush) -> enemies -> allies again at the very end dynamic where I think that they could become lovers post-canon. Really had me writing a fic idea in my notes app after my few months of no drive to write.

Initial Impression: Another Idol Factory offering and this time more plot-based. It seemed to have REALLY good reception || The finale still isn't properly available yet so I don't really know how people will feel about the end but oh well, I'm gonna end up watching it either way because of how much people have been loving it

Overall Impression: I think I liked the first few eps and the potential of the series and the possibilities than I liked the actual series oof. Since everybody freaking loved this, I also had high expectations. I thought there would be more focus on the romance and fantasy and past lives aspect and less on the cop activity. I feel like they didn't choose the correct things to show on screen. I think most of the fight scenes and stuff were confusing and not choreographed very well, and some moments needed to have more time dedicated to them or have more gravitas to them. However, some moments were just shot/directed so beautifully. I enjoyed the parallels between Tharn and Phaya or their current life and past life. It shows the cyclical nature of Phaya and Tharn's lives, and it would've been even more impactful if we saw more of their past lives (their OG life or other reincarnations). Highly doubt I'm gonna think of the characters again, I somehow stopped being attached to them about halfway through - probably related to the fact that I liked the first few eps (half?) of the show better. They tried so many things, but I don't think they satisfyingly merged them or chose the correct things to focus on on-screen.

Initial Impression: Be On Cloud production with actors who I'm not super keen on (Ta followed Andrew Tate on Twitter when I last checked…) but it's like a slasher, so I'd be curious to check it out. <- added to Considering when the first ep or 2 were out || 240229 - Added to Watchlist: I’ve been meaning to watch this since like ep 1 came out and I learned it was supposed to be horror-esque/slasher and seems like people have been loving it even more these past few eps. I’m actually so excited to check it out, I hope I love it and it rots my brain.

Overall Impression: I think this show landed the ending which is very satisfying. I was afraid that's where this show was leading because of certain choices in writing in eps 10 and 11 and that maybe they were gonna go for a kinda-happy ending to make it a BL but I really enjoyed it. Also interesting that there were so many predictions but despite them not being true, the finale still managed to be coherent based on what the first 11 episodes had set up for us while still surprising me. I enjoyed the first 4 eps and last few episodes more because it was more about the actual thriller/horror aspects whereas the middle 3 - 4 episodes were just so difficult to get through due to the bullying and police and Non getting dragged in more and more D: It had some good moments like Phee and Non's relationship etc but in general, just sad. I kept wanting it to move on to when Phee (and New) come up with the plan or to just go back to the cabin and the horrors. I think some characters were done really well while others were not, like they are all flawed and varying degrees of terrible but I have some that really compelled me (Tan, Tee, Fluke - liked these 3 enough to write so many words about them in another Tumblr post) vs those who fell flat for me and the main characters (Phee, Jin) kinda fell into that.I'm glad something like this exists in BL (though there wasn't much real romance in it lol). It also made me write so many words and posts on here, really gives you the itch to Discuss because of the different threads and characters and motivations and secrets.

Overall: Nobody in this drama asks before kissing lol not Doyoon, not Seheon, not the little kiss that Seheon's brother gave to sleeping Taejoon, and the other two, Juha and Taeyi, are experts in being creeps and having internalized homophobia that they direct outwardly to the guys they like as well (Seheon's brother fits here too lol). Yet, I enjoyed it a fair amount, the story was coherent (lots of open strands at the end though...), the acting was fine, I was endeared by Doyoon (is he the Omega X kid?), and the dynamics were enjoyable, if iffy on certain counts. Not super attached though.

Initial Impression: We've been waiting on this for so long, the last one from the GMMTV 2023 batch that I'd been looking forward to. Hope it lives up to the hype.

Overall: GMMTV's first GL and MilkLove's first full GL; I was super excited, especially after having watched MilkLove in Bad Buddy and the Magic of Zero special, which is why I started watching this on-air (thought I'd start it even earlier than ep 8 but didn't because of exams). So it's a shame that I feel so... nothing about the show, especially the main couple; I think Aylin/Luna is my fave ship in here. I think I also just wasn't much in the mood for a silly high school romance series right now, which isn't the show's fault but contributed to why I didn't feel the pull to continue watching the show. When I did watch it, it could get pretty cute though, I giggled/gushed a few times, especially about Luna and Aylin. The teachers' storyline was cute too, though barely there. Aylin was the MVP for sure.

Last Twilight (Thai - Jan 26): Everybody's loving it so far, I'm curious || hmmm people have very polarizing opinions on the last ep (both the disability aspect but also the general storytelling aspect), so I'm cautious but people reallllly love the first 9 episodes. Just adding it here in case I wanna see what the hype was about

Chaser Game W (Jpn - Feb 27): Another Japanese GL and apparently it has toxic-ish workplace romance + post-breakup second chance romance yay. Also, the tweet where one of the characters is like “I’m a lesbian” *thunder* is hilarious

Perfect Propose (Jpn - Mar 1): Originally was curious about it because of the casual (?) hand job gifs from 1st ep and because while I’m not really into the sweet stuff from Japan, something like the tone of this might be appealing. Also, this Tiktok of “We’re engaged” “[...] and we’re both guys” “I’m gay” was pretty funny

Cherry Magic (Thai - Mar 2): It was getting generally good buzz, so I was curious but this Tumblr post talking about the Thai BL landscape recently and saying CM might be better than the original made me seriously consider watching it. I think I’m also more receptive to Thai shows with this sort of storyline/dynamic more than Japanese shows, so hopefully I’ll actually like the series this time.

Blank S1 & S2 (Thai - Apr 07): Only season 1 is out for now and apparently it ends on a cliffhanger, so idk if I should be adding it to the watchlist quite yet but I want age gap GL (w dubious morality? idk what the discourse is about tbh), so I’ll add it and hope S2 is released in May as expected and turns out well

Love is Better the Second Time Around (Jpn - Apr 10): I'm fond of the second chance/post-breakup romance trope, hopefully I’ll like this one

Unknown (Taiwan - Apr 20): I’d been keeping an eye on it since it started releasing and it got pretty high praise all throughout. I think I can get into the we’re-not-biological-brothers-but-we-grew-up-together-as-brothers dynamic 

Deep Night (Thai - Apr 25): I’ve enjoyed First Piyangkul in shows before and am curious about the host club setting in this. This show is such an interesting case because on Reddit and on Tumblr, everybody seems to love it and MDL has some mixed comments but mostly positive there too, and yet the MDL rating is 7.5, I wonder why the discrepancy.

To the X Who Hated Me (Kor - May 8) - 240520: another Youtube kGL short, from the same people as Girlfriend Project Day 1, I think. It has 2 seasons (unrelated couples?)

Jack and Joker: Yinwar new show ahhhh!!!!! and seems like a kinda plotty one as well. Need to watch the 12 minute trailer though lol || So fun!!!!! I like that it's 11 minutes of establishing characters and rising action (+ some history) but it doesn't show the resolution and conclusion the way pilot trailers tend to do, the mystery builds up the anticipation. The fight choreo looked good maybe? I'm not an expert in that at all but it seemed better than most of the other Thai BLs. I really hope the screenwriting makes sense and is logical and not non-sensical because pretty much all the plotty/crime BLs require a lot of suspension of belief. I've been looking forward to this since the initial liveshow trailer and now am anticipating this even more, on the edge of my seat!

Overall Impression: Firstly, fuck the message of the show. In shows like this, where they treat suicide as a personal, moral failure of selfishness and weakness rather than due to systematic issues in society, mental health struggles, or treating the characters with kindness, it's of utmost importance to just roll your eyes and see the story/acting/etc. Eps 1 to half of 3 were interesting and exciting but in the way of "I'm watching a show with murder and gore and people trying to outsmart each other" rather than about this specific show. The ending is... okay, I guess, expected it. In Part 1, Death just left something to be desired for me and this kinda continued here. Don't think I'll think of this show much (except maybe Lee Dohyun?) and the 2nd part didn't have the excellent pacing of the first one. Not as good as part 1.

Initial Impression: Been waiting for this since literally 2023 after I watched Strangers From Hell and saw in Certified Noonas' 2023 releases that it was from the same director + is an interesting concept [Kdramas mentioned in Certified Noonas 2023 Releases: Murder DIEary (the synopsis is cool and the director is the same as Strangers From Hell but I’m looking at the MDL again and 2024? D: why so far but someone on comments has also been saying that the filming ended recently - Mar 25, 2023 - and it can still come out this year). 2024: Rolled over from 2023 and now it's called A Killer Paradox]

Overall Impression: Really enjoyed the first few episodes (up to ep 4), then eps 5 - 7 were kinda meandering and it felt like not much was happening (that I cared about anyway), then ep 8 was engaging again. In the second half, we focused a lot on Song Chon and his story to me wasn't as engaging as Lee Tang's and we also strayed away from Lee Tang and his thoughts. I liked the fun shots and the imagination scenes, it was interesting. I feel like the show didn't have many twists and turns, like it was all a bit anti-climactic, which dampened it. Had high hopes because of the concept + Strangers From Hell director but that show was a lot more atmospheric and insular and the character focuses were more engaging. Don’t think I’ll ever think about it.

Lovely Runner (Krn - May 28): Got curious on 240409, I saw this edit and initial good reaction to Eps 1-2. Heard good things all throughout the run of the show and good reception to the ending as well, so I'm excited.

Finished season 3 of 9-1-1! What an incredible season. I love how easy it is to love the characters in the 118. So much character growth for my favs :’)

Some notes & observations:

- Chim is SUCH a good character 😭 the halloween episode this season was one of my favorites because of how lighthearted it felt compared to other eps.

- Abby coming back in the last episode made me hurt so bad for Buck. I beg your finest pardon- she felt like if she came back for him, she’d go back to being what she was before? That’s such a cop-out excuse. I hated that. I get that she needed to get out of there, but never communicating with Buck about how she felt is horrible and he did NOT deserve that. Good riddance. (no forgiveness to the woman who made him feel unworthy and bad)

- The tsunami arc was SO GOOD. Deeply impressed by it, and have been filed under “favorite episodes” (an ever changing list atm)

- Buck and Eddie did reach the “best friendism” I was looking forward to in season 2, but just like season 2, there is so much queer coding in their friendship. There’s little moments where they’ll say/do something for each other that feels so romantic, and it makes it difficult to look at their friendship as the platonic one it was supposedly intended to be.

- continuation of the last point : when Eddie got trapped in the well system & was dreaming of Christopher (which ultimately gave him the motivation to keep going and survive…chef kiss for that), there was A WHOLE LOTTA BUCK in that montage!! It’s almost like Buck is coparenting his child! Anyway.

- I’m not a huge fan of cops, and this season kind of highlighted many of my reasons. I really like Athena and how she interacts and supports other characters, but her attitude towards the general public feels icky to me sometimes. Michael and her kids nearly getting hate-crimed was awful and made me so sick, but the way she reacted to it was so ????. It kind of tainted her character a little bit for me. (although her arc at the end with the rapist was really sad and I gained a bunch of respect back for her wanting to take care of that)

- Maddie + Chim are a top tier couple, and MADDIE IS PREGNANT?!? what???? I’ve seen several spoilers for this show but I knew nothing about this arc!! Nada! So I am very much looking forward to seeing what happens there 👀

- I don’t know if I was imagining it, but I felt like a lot of the emergencies that happened this season felt very personal to the 118. More so than the last two seasons.

- I wish Bobby was my dad :(

- And on my last point, I fucking adore Hen and Karen. I want more of their story. Hen is such a beautiful character to me, and I’ve loved seeing her growth. Her relationship with Karen is incredible too (which I’m glad about, the cheating storyline in S1 was awful). I want more of my mother lesbians ❤️

I’ve heard from several of you, as well as my lovely sister-in-law, that season four is…exciting…so wish me luck ✋🏼
