YIPPEE MY FAVORITE ASK EVER EVER EVER!!!!!

okay so my main two right now are actually my fame dr (ballerina ofc) and my doctor who dr.

in my ballerina dr, i’ve been getting into it so much recently because i remembered that im gonna be shifting when im 12 and not 22. meaning i’ll be sitting in my bedroom over the summer waiting for the anastasia cast list to come out while listening to belle and sebastian on my discman (probably). spoiler alert: i am cast as anya and i have the perfect summer working on it. im also starting cambridge in the fall and im so excited!! i’ve wanted to study art history forever and this is going to be the best experience of my life. i love twee as well and getting to be there as it develops is my dream life. i can go to bishop allen concerts and be tumblr famous. there will be gifsets of me!! oh god i can’t wait. this is honestly just scratching the surface of this dr. in uni im gonna meet my girls. erin alvarez and leni liu who are also extremely young students like me. i remain friends with them for the rest of my life. god how i miss them. plus, soon i’m also getting cast in my very first acting job as effy stonem in skins and that’s how i become famous (also starting my lifelong friendship with co-star hannah murray). oh AND im gonna get my first boyfriend too. i’m so obsessed with toby regbo and especially him in the movie mr nobody which is how we meet. im cast as teen anna and we are so awkward and stumble around each other. i love him. i know we have to break up because he’s not my main s/o but being with him is gonna be so fun. i hope we stay friends in the future. we’re gonna go to bookshops and cinemas together. we’re gonna kiss in the rain and just be super cliché because why not?!?! oops okay this is getting long

Never Let Me Go Episode 7 (the most favorite scene)

I keep thinking about why this particular proposal scene in episode 7 is very important to me that I feel like I need to make a gifset of it. 

In episode 3, Thanya said this to Nueng: “I want to see you be able to take care of yourself. Okay? I enrolled Palm in your shooting class. So, you will have a friend. I want you to open up to him. He may be different form you. But I believe, he will be someone that you can trust. Don’t worry about me. Okay?”

The differences between Nueng and Palm has been emphasized so many times, either offscreen by the series maker themselves, or onscreen, whether it’s explicitly talked about or implicitly showed. One that obvious is their class difference and thus their roles. This has been shown through the episodes by how people viewed and implied about their relationship, also, by the differences in their gestures and ways of talking or conversing with each other. There are also other differences that, to some extent, might not directly related to their interclass difference, such as different clothing styles, different interests, and different types of concern on school education or personal skill. It has been consistently presented in the show it sent a clear message that both Nueng and Palm need to face and work through those differences to be together. And, if all plots allowed, to be together along with those differences. 

And then, here’s Wu and David, a lovely couple arriving at Mam’s homestay. A couple that represents unity amidst their differences. One thing that was hinted during their first meeting in episode 6 is Wu’s ‘complaint’ that David doesn’t know Mandarin at all so he couldn't understand if Wu scolded him in Mandarin. When Wu and Nueng laughed about it and Palm asked what that was about, Nueng implied: “If you want to know what we are talking about, you should pay more attention in class.”

Now, this can be something too subtle it may or may not be indicating a difference the couple needs to overcome, that is language as a barrier as well as a way to understand. Since I speak bilingual myself, I can say there are somethings that I would prefer or feel more comfortable to express in my first language than the second, more especially in an intimate relationship. However, on the other hand, once I actually arrived at a decision on having such relationship, I believe, maybe just like Wu, I might no longer consider it a big issue. That is why, I think what each Wu and Nueng said can be perceived as either just something as it is (that the language is not a problem at all) or an unconscious expectation they have on the other, respectively. The first implies acceptance of being together along with the difference they have, while the second implies possible attempt expected to confront said difference. (It's important to notice their tone of speaking, though.) In the case of Nueng and Palm, however, the language might represent another thing, another kind of difference or gap between them, as had been told throughout the series thus far, that they both need to understand and work on to accept.

Finally, we have the proposal scene and this is what Wu said on his proposal: “David. Some people say we do not belong together. We are so different. But I see our differences are good. Because I can learn about you. I want to share my life with you. You are my friend, my family, and my soulmate. So, do you want to marry me?” I will be lying if I say this doesn’t feel like a meta level of Nueng-Palm relationship (to be), and thus, despite so little as of now, I have this good hope for both of them. They might need an extra work to build the 'magpie bridge' to meet (don’t forget the major foreshadowing) but the main question would be, how far they will let the bigger story affect their decision to be together?

Maybe that is why I love this scene more than any other scenes this episode. The focus might be on Wu and David, but, as pictured above, if I take a closer look to their behind, all I see is a package of the sweetest, the happiest, and the most genuine smile and stare ever exchanged between Nueng and Palm. Nobody can convince me otherwise. Regardless of whatever plot and twits might be applied. That will need another different post to talk about.

RRR Fandom Boost Bingo

Hello lovelies!

Like I recently said, I’ve been in this fandom for 7 months and they have been an absolute blast. But because I’ve been around so long, I have noticed that we have had a few friends fade away, even as we welcome so many new ones. 

I have also noticed that we are not responding or commenting as much as we used to back then, and hey, I get it. Real life is a LOT. 

I came across this challenge initially proposed by @thehighfiveproject, aimed at boosting fandom interaction. They did such a great job, and I was very impressed with their challenge, so I just tweaked it a little to suit our little fandom a bit more. But major credit for the idea/the bingo square prompts and descriptions goes to them only. Here is the link to the original card that I adapted!

I am a firm believer that fandoms live and die by how much people interact with each other, and are assured they’re not shouting into an empty void. So I thought this challenge would be a low-key game we could share to shower the fanwork creators with more love. 

That being said, what are the things you need to know?

- No sign-ups, if you want to play, just download a copy of the image and play along

- For each task that you accomplish, “cover” that space like in Bingo (I use MS Paint to place a shape over the square)

- The challenge runs from February 1st to February 15th, two whole weeks to spread the love!

- You can fill one square, or all of them. If you do fill all 9 tasks, then I will write something for you (min 300 words, no NSFW; I can’t guarantee a turn around time, but will definitely answer all of them)

So what do each of the tasks consist of?

- ‘leave kudos/likes on 3 fanworks’

This is the easiest one! Just go out and find 3 fanworks you like and leave a kudos or a like on it. It’s a small gesture but it makes a creator know that someone actually interacted with their work.

- ‘reblog an art post’

Find any art post you like and share it! Here’s the catch: you need to interact with it a little. When you reblog/retweet, please tell the creator what you thought about the piece – you can add some tags, or reply to the post, or quote-retweet or add a comment, or anything! A simple “I love this!” is nice but some details are even better (“your linework is so good!” or “that shade of blue is perfect”). 

- ‘message a fandom creator’

‘Creator’ here can mean anyone who makes *anything* to do with fandom: art, edits, fic, meta, hoodies or dolls – if they’ve made anything, they’re a creator, and now’s your chance to let them know they’re appreciated. Send a message  letting them know that you enjoyed their work!

- ‘reblog an edit/meta post’

Same as the above, but for edits/meta posts! Edits can include a gif set, or a set of screencaps, or even a fanvid. And, again, some simple tags/replies are needed. “I love that song choice!” for a vid or “great coloring!” on a gifset can let people know their work is being appreciated.

Otherwise, reblog a meta post. Meta posts are those three sentence headcanons to an essay-length dissection of why Character X is the absolute best character. It’s even better if you respond to the meta, whether that’s agreeing or (respectfully!) adding your own thoughts, but sharing it is the main thing here.

- ‘reblog a fic post’

Same as the above, but for fic! Again, tags/replies/comments are needed, preferably with a little detail. You don’t need to be super eloquent or leave a detailed review (although if you have time/energy, that would be appreciated!); a tag as simple as “that was really cute” or “great characterization!” will do. 

- ‘comment on a fanfic/ comment on a fanart’

Find a fic and a fanart, and leave a comment. That’s it! Again, no need to leave a novel-length comment (unless you’re inspired!) – a sentence or two is all we’re asking for this square to be considered complete. This is a great opportunity to let a writer know how their piece made you feel, or what section you particularly liked.

- ‘make a rec post’

This is a chance to tell your fandom friends about something they need to see. You can rec a fic, an artist, an author  – any kind of fandom thing that you want to make sure people see. This doesn’t have to be long or complicated, but feel free to go into as much detail as you want! Just make your own post on Tumblr and give that thing you loved a little fanfare.

- And lastly, this one is optional, but I think it would be cute. ‘RRR Fandom Appreciation’. Just make a post and say in a few words something you really enjoy about this fandom in particular. Be it hyping up the friends you’ve made, or any aspect of the fandom you want to share your love for.

Ultimately the challenge’s main purpose is to get people talking to each other.

Oh tea. The rarepairs I have thought about. You’ve opened a door and the ocean is at it (the ocean being my unhinged mind) (and I will not flood you though) 💕

First — I’ve been thinking about Aris and Gally a lot and I want to see if you can be on board with me. To my knowledge their interaction is few and far between but I just kind of love the idea of them.

Aris: contained and somewhat shy but even more cunning than Thomas, less outspoken and openly curious but finds out information and pieces together things on his own before showing anyone else and if someone gets the privilege to see what he’s discovered it’s a great one, not exactly an amazing runner but has his own tactics of survival as he is somewhat mischievous in his own right. Kind of the hidden predator you’d never expect but also doesn’t want to be that if he doesn’t have to.

Gally: I’d wax poetic but we both know, we just both KNOW, especially post tdc he’s damaged and lonely and trying his best, can be absolutely brutal but doesn’t want to be seen as such, ruthless when on a mission, is very intelligent and was often underestimated, does let fear control his motivation but he’s trying to overcome that because he wants to be BRAVE (oh look at that I’m waxing poetic again).

Anyways, yeah — tea, do you have thoughts or am I alone on this boat?

i've talked about aris and gally with @dunne-ias before and i do love the idea of them!! i believe that was in a modern day au, where aris just fit that tad bit better than thomas because he's that little bit more.. off. which is a bit of what you're getting at, too, i think?

ias correct me if i'm wrong but i think it was aris being into gally and gally not clocking it At All? which in that instant was just much more charming than if it would've been thomas, bc thomas is all head first running into something and aris would be keeping his cards close to his chest, even if he was trying to make it super obvious he had a thing for gally??

and you got me thinking, i don't know that they ever interact in canon at all. aris isn't on the minho rescuing mission, and i just watched the safe haven vince pep talk scene pretty closely to do that thomally week gifset and i don't think gally and aris are shown to acknowledge each other.. but i could be wrong, i wasn't specifically on the lookout!

i do think that in movie canon aris and gally are a very interesting spot, because aris could only ever have heard about gally's arc in the maze second hand. and he never knew chuck. so he might be intuitively more inclined than the gladers to have empathy as his primary reaction to those events. and it could result in scenes of gally trying to explain to aris just why he is such a bad person.

ohhhhh but honestly now i'm thinking about them at safe haven 0.0. quietly working alongside each other (different tasks though, i wouldn't think aris would be especially skilled in building something), and it takes gally much longer to notice aris in the first place than the other way around. bc gally's so caught up in everyone he lost, and the guilt he's carrying with him. i think talking to aris, and forming some sort of tentative friendship could be a really good way for him to get some tether to live that isn't centered around the gladers as a social group.

OR, this just came to me, it could start off as a hook up alsdkjfsalkdjffds. love sex + emotions <3 oh my god. i am having vivid ideas of how a scene like that could go. curse you, crest.

but also thank you - tickling new spots of the brain is always a good time! and tmr rarepairs are just a fantastic way of doing that.

i saw fotg today and bc i'm still not of sound mind to write a proper review (for here or letterboxd), i'm gonna just do a dump of all my spoilery thoughts featuring stuff i loved about the movie:

the new theme is incredible and epic i love you mr. christophe beck i'm gonna make you one of my top spotify artists this year for sure. (for reference: the previous score composer made my top 5 artists back in 2019 bc of how often i streamed the first movie's score.)

FREDDY AND ANTHEA WERE SO CUTE! obviously i'm ride or die for freebat but like freddy has two hands so he can date anthea too. honestly i'm team anthea/freddy/billy/courtney polycule. make it canon!

DARLA AND THE KITTIES! SHE NAMED ONE OF THEM TAWNY!!! so basically cat tawny, as my freebat server invented, is now movie canon. boom. (no really i screamed, i hope somehow that kitten becomes actual tawny in the movies. we really need to see tawny someday)

freddy calling billy "captain everything jr" was so fucking funny to me. like ofc freddy would act all cocky as a hero and the boys would still argue over who's the sidekick. i love it so much

GAY PEDRO REAL! WE DID IT Y'ALL!!! that scene got such a good laugh in my theater, it made me so happy. and i love that jovan got to be the one to say it too rather than dj. 'cause i know internet gays go all gaga for dj but coming out can be such a sweet, pure thing sometimes so jovan really deserved to have that moment and i'm glad he did. (and now seeing the movie, i have more respect for the tie-in comics, since pedro's was all about him being into baseball. i get why now hehe)

also i know i'm jumping ahead here but AY WE GOT AN ELVIS REFERENCE! sure, it was just the end credit song, but hey, i'll take it. it's something. and it was the junkie xl edit of the song too, so naturally, i loved it even more.

speaking of, the movie had a decent amount of bvs parallels! well, more than one, at least. everyone's harped on the final battle with billy basically sacrificing himself just like clark did in bvs (i hope to see those parallel gifsets in the future!), but i also noticed some bvs nods during billy's fight with hespera. when she dragged him by the cape and lifted him over her head to slam him onto the ground... i swear that was just like the bathroom fight with bruce and clark. at least the cape drag. i'd have to go back and watch both movies to see exactly what shots are parallel to each other, but, yeah. sandberg's movies still feel like love letters to zack's and i adore that.

WAS ANYONE GONNA WARN ME THAT IT'S ASHER'S FACE WE SEE WHEN BILLY DIES???? i mean, i didn't want the spoiler anyway but oh my god, i was not emotionally prepared. oh god. i'm still thinking about it. and freddy's sobbing. god. speaking of bvs parallels--

that scene is gonna haunt me for the rest of my days. i'm gonna write and read so many fics about it. ahhhhhhhh

yeah the movie did have a good amount of freebat bless you sandberg & gayden (and now jack and asher are adults so i can justifiably enjoy the freebat-ness of jack & zach scenes here too. suck it, antis!)

but also the movie did have a severe lack of asher and that made me kinda sad. there's a shot from the tv spots he's in that i do Not recall seeing in the movie at all. (though i did run to the bathroom just before the final battle so maybe i missed it somehow? but i doubt it bc his outfit was from an earlier part of the film) but also i kinda wish it was asher who came out of the grave instead of zach. like in the context of the movie, i understand why it was zach, bc diana gave him his powers back, but they buried regular billy so i wish he was the one to emerge from the grave. but whatever, i'm just picky.

asher did kinda out-act zach in all his scenes, though. this boy needs to get more work PRONTO! (he only has one other project coming out this year, i think. some small true story movie. put him in more blockbusters! disney, get him for your tangled remake! just something, please!!!)

the diana cameo was actually amazing and anyone saying bad things about it needs to shut the fuck up. it was great and yeah billy had a crush on her but he's established to be crushing on her in the first film too, it's literally nothing new.

"taste the rainbow, motherfu--!" one of the best lines in the movie, hands down. skittles has the only valid in-movie marketing. i know the line kinda got spoiled in tv spots but it was still so funny in context.

also darla sorting out all the yellow skittles for hespera was so cute and i was kinda thinking autie vibes before she explained her reasoning for it. the whole shazamily is neurodivergent and i will die on that hill.

yeah that's all i can think of for now i really loved the movie, i also kinda wanted more from it but probably bc i felt like we didn't see enough of the family together. but that can be resolved in a third film, of course. (if we ever get one. i know the opening box office is disappointing but maybe the film can still turn a profit. the budget's basically the same as the first film so it only has to make like $300 mil again for wb to make their money back. and it could blow up on streaming afterwards. you never know. i just hope wb is patient and takes their time before deciding on the future of shazam, if this cast is truly out for the reboot.)

i never noticed before that when justin pulls away, brian lurches forward. he really didn't want that kiss to end 😭 i would kill to know what brian's thought process in that scene was

Hey!

Right?! He literally tumbles, loses his balance and tips forward once his lips lose contact with Justin's lmao because he was *so* into kissing him and lost in the moment. That when Justin breaks away his internal monologue to his body is like "No, wait why aren't you kissing me anymore?" I think tbh his brain short circuited because it had been months since he'd been kissed by anyone let alone Justin. So he literally gets his first kiss in months by the love of his life I'm surprised he didn't die right then and there I mean I did. Also his face at the end, you can see the wheels turning and him thinking about what to do next now he knows Justin still loves him and wants him back.

Even though Justin initiated the kiss after Brian practically dared him to, Brian was all the way gone aswell. Otherwise he could've pushed Justin away or told him to stop. But who are we kidding he was dying to be kissed by him once more. I'm absolutely feral over so much about this whole episode with them at Kinnetic and season three in general for them - I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I could go on forever but I adored the loaded callback to 2x20 with Brian saying "It's just like you, you don't hear what you want so you leave." aka You left me for Ethan your dreamy eyed schoolboy because he told you what you wanted to hear and even though I never said it I thought you knew I did love you and you could see it. Maybe we weren't perfect but I showed you how I felt etc. Then the actual reunion with the flirty boss/intern roleplay with the underlying metaphor of talking about their relationship should they reunite is *so them to a t* i gotta hand it to the writers for that one it worked brilliantly and doesn't come off as cringe or anything because it fits them as a couple. They were always having kinky, flirty banter also the foreshadowing to when Justin literally gets caught under Brian as the intern by Stockwell in 3x11 😂😂😂.

Alongside the parallel to Justin telling Brian in the office he knows what to expect from him and he loves him anyway to telling Michael once they'd reunited that even though Brian won't ever say I love you (so you thought Justin) he knows that he loves him and he did show him whilst they were together he just wasn't in the right headspace to see it.

All this to say they're insanely in love with each other and always will be. I'm having intense britin and qaf feels this evening I could post like ten gifsets lol send help.

It's once again time for the best of all fandom traditions! Whether you're old or new here, welcome to You Could Make a Life Holiday Fanwork Exchange.

This year, Ana and Pyry are working together to organise the event. We hope to see you all participate again!

The good ol' refresher!

❄️What is this?

Just a pretty normal and chill fandom exchange to celebrate the holidays. In short, you create something for another fan and get something in return!

Anyone in the You Could Make a Life fandom can participate. You can check the wrap-up posts for 2019 and 2020 or check this blog's latest posts for 2021 if you want to have an idea of what people have previously created.

❄️What can I make/get?

The idea is to:

write fic of at least 1000 words; or

make 1 piece of fanart; or

make 1 playlist of at least 11 songs with a cover; or

make 1 gifset; or

create a short video edit (minimum 30 seconds).

You can specify whether you prefer fic and/or art when you sign up!

❄️ Why not include other types of fanwork, such as podfic?

We have given the idea a thought, honestly, but due to the "secret santa" nature of the exchange, it would be logistically difficult for somebody to create podfic of a fic that hasn't been written yet/by a person who's not supposed to know what they are getting. If anyone has suggestions on how to include this for next year, we are open to new ideas.

❄️ And why did you add videos as fanworks?

We have noticed a resurgence of the fanvid as a form of fanwork in recent years (due to fandom's shift to platforms such as Twitter, Instagram or Tiktok). We want this event to be open to as many people as possible, so we thought maybe there are some ycmal fans who are also great video editors!

❄️What am I allowed to create/request?

Any pairing, theme and rating are allowed. However, since this universe is huge, please be flexible and include as many things you like as possible in the request and the offer. If you are only willing to receive an Elaine/Emily band AU, we may not be able to find you a suitable match! We may contact you if, for any reason, it’s impossible for us to find a match for you and we need you to think of more options.

❄️Timeline

Sign-ups are open now and end on October 4th 3pm EST.

After that, we will start matching people and you will be notified as soon as possible of the person you have been assigned.

By November 30th, we will be emailing you to confirm that you are still participating. If for some reason you cannot participate any more, please notify us as soon as possible, so that we can make sure we find a pinch-hitter.

The works will be posted between December 18th and 31st, in whatever platform best suits your work. Please make sure you inform us (tagging this blog, for instance, or via ask box/email) and the recipient. Everything will be shared in this blog.

Hi! I've always wondered about the users you tag when you make stuff and vice versa - I'm a creator, mainly for s&b and I've always felt like I see everyone tagging the same people (which I totally get!), so I feel like it's hard to break in, make genuine friends, especially when everyone knows each other and at times it can feel clique-y, at least to an outsider like me. I'm socially awkward and don't do anything super fancy like you do and other people do, which also makes me feel like I'm not good enough. I've made content for a while, but I don't feel seen (which I know is probably an issue to work on, but it's still a bummer). I just wanted to know what your thoughts are and see if other creators you're friends with have any thoughts about this as well, would love the input.

hello anon! it's a difficult one, as someone who is also socially awkward and struggles to speak to someone i'm not sure the advice i can give is necessarily the easiest to follow, but truly the way to make friends with other creators is to speak to them. from my own personal experience while it can seem from the outside to be cliquey, us creators are usually very open to speaking to others and sharing the joy of something we love!

i don't think you have to make the fanciest gifset in the world, but then to get noticed you do unfortunately have to reach out to people. and you can start with just small things: send a message that you love someone's work, reblog their stuff and leave nice tags, those are the things that make me notice other blogs at least. the people i tend to tag are mutuals who i know will reblog and often leave nice comments, because i love to see their opinion on a set. when i post it i go 'oh i'll tag this person because i think they'll like it and i want to see their thoughts on it!'. the tags don't have to be long, it can just be a quick comment, but i do think that engaging in content that way at least makes a difference for me as a content creator in noticing others. but, the biggest thing is to just talk to someone and tell them you're open to being tagged - i've had blogs do that for me before and i'll tag them, because honestly i never really know who to tag which is why i usually go back to a usual group who tag me in return. though i'd also say don't be sad if people aren't tagging you, there are a lot of blogs i would love to tag in some things but tumblr's 20 tag limit means i just can't, and it's not personal.

anyway, i don't know if this is helpful at all, because i think the hardest thing to do is reach out and make yourself known to someone but also, that's sort of what you have to do? like from my perspective right now, with the new season dropping my activity and tag are both crazy. i can't notice everyone because there's a lot going on. when things calm down a bit i can notice someone tagging me consistently and check out their blog, and that can also work as a way to get noticed. but ultimately the shortcut is to speak to someone, and i really do understand that is intimidating, but i promise that the majority of content creators are also just socially anxious people funneling their hyperfixations into their creations and they're happy to talk to people like them!

i know this is a bit random but have been watching walker and also on tumblr recently saw that whole gifset about torture-porn of sam (i mean what else could we call it haha)... and also on rewatches - noticed that jared does sometimes look awkward doing just regular things and its always bugged me why that is - & ive realised (yeh, i know - d-uh!!... slow singular brain cell made the trek to join the dots finally) - the main reason is literally his size...

Example: When he holds a sawed off gun with both hands which is the "correct stance" - you can barely see the gun itself - & he looks like an (adorable) dork instead of a bada$$.... same thing when hes doing certain rolls or dealing n interacting with cars or people or other things....he looks awkward coz hes having to bend down or squish himself to interact - ie his size is actively ignired in the narrative n stories n sets - its treated almost like a hindrance to his portrayal by the makers which is a shame...

He looks awkward handling things or looks extremely tentative even when hes otherwise being feirce or whatever - simply because he's compensating for his size - constantly....

I get it (but in reverse - im a shorty in a big-persons world and im constantly stretching,climbing on things and generally stressed and stretched out - making things look harder than it should be - simply coz to me, it *is* harder).... similarly, i imagine, being his size and NOT having things be in his size must make him feel like his entire existence is in a "cage" where he feels "too big/too much" and at risk of breaking stuff/hurting someone and constantly being worried and careful - suspect it is why he does those scenes really well too - from spn to walker...caged is how he must constantly physically feel IRL due to his size....

So this is what i want for jared in some future project hes starring in: i want him to be in something where he is playing a badass mofo that we know he can do v well - with that hesitancy removed - i want a role for him which narratively doesnt restrict him, i want sets and props in his size so that it looks right - i want to see him in something thats made to *fit him* physically, mentally and talent-wise ...instead of him having to scrunch himself to fit the narrative or look weird handling things that are too fragile or too small or whatever (ofc have other things be normal sized for other actors etc - & every now n then show something that he dwarfs to call out the size)....

he is massive with a big heart and a big talent - i want something that will *fully showcase* that massiveness where he doesnt have to be afraid to be as big as he is... id watch the hell out of something like that....

seeing jared at his ease could add a whole new depth and dimension to his characters....n heck that might be the most discomfort he's faced as an actor - coz i know he's said at cons or whatever that hes a bit self conscious about his body/size and always trying to downplay it....

i say lets get him in an environment where he's taught to embrace his own physical space n size and even how to work with it to best advantage and lets enjoy the magic that might happen as a result!

I'd love to see him play dark, totally in control smooth n suave and slightly sinister "master of all he surveys" type character that fully uses his bulk to intimidate n uses it effectively n to full effect - full on "king"-vibe ....that then could eventually proceeds to reveal his more softer side....

So whatd you guys think? - action-hero or spy or dark magical sorceror dude? - your ideas on what kinda character it could be that he could play that narratively called for / played up his physical size and his combat/shooting/etc action-skills but also dark n very in-control etc - along with hus vulnerable side?...

Maybe, you actually asked seb to kneel for you? And like, you expect him to kneel with his back to you, as he usually does.

So when he gets down on his knees, he turns to face you and rests his chin on your knee, looking up at you with a small smile on his face.

He gets up then, because the idea of sitting on your lap is enticing enough to get him to stop kneeling.

Summary of events is at the end, but here’s what happened. Things got pretty heated between us towards the end, but that’s just how it goes ig.

They now predictably have me blocked, so I can’t access the DMs or the post about this first incident. As for what happened on Tumblr, a while back, they made a greyscale gifset with Gwen in it, and someone (iirc this someone was indeed a poc, though I don’t remember who exactly) told them that it was whitewashed, and their response was more or less just “but I did high contrast, this is impossible to do, that has to be good enough!” I decided to DM them to say “Hey, here’s how you can do greyscale gifs without whitewashing, you should go back and fix those gifs” but was ultimately ignored to my knowledge. Other people who I’ve talked to about whitewashing in their works have actually gone back and changed them, so Idk what their deal was. They just. Didn’t wanna. I thought maybe they just didn’t see it or something but… nope.

Now, as for the other incident(s), which took place off of Tumblr… A year later or so, idk how much time passed, Queen Elizabeth II dies. You may have noticed my pinned post is about people sympathizing with colonizers instead of their victims. Well, that is actually pinned because of the situation this all stemmed from.

If you’re a merthur shipper, then I doubt you’re in the Non Merthur Server, the Discord where this all took place. You probably wouldn’t find anything unsubtle on their Tumblr that indicates how they actually are, but what they chose to say there completely obliterated any hope I had for them. I have a much longer post in my drafts about what happened, but it began because I said that we shouldn’t make excuses for a colonizer. Someone in the chat was doing this (I’ll discuss that more in another post), so me and another member (who left due to the way the situation was handled by the mods) immediately corrected this person on the queen’s various crimes/atrocities. This conversation somehow turned to how I stated (some days prior to the queen’s death) that I avoid reblogging off of a certain person because they have posted racist content in the past. That’s where Neednoggle comes in.

Neednoggle said that this was “controlling” behavior because I was “telling people who they can or can’t interact with.” Now, again, I was simply putting out a warning that the individual I mentioned had put out racist content before. I certainly expect people to take that into consideration once they know. But I didn’t expect anyone, especially someone who preaches about racism towards one of their favorite characters, to die on the hill of “umm but I have the first amendment RIGHT to reblog off of racists!” There’s a reason we don’t reblog off of homophobes, misogynists, TERFs, abusers, etc.. If you draw the line at racists… that’s a double standard, and frankly, it’s self-absorbed.

They then proceeded to bring up a different person who I avoid for different reasons as an example for why my very detailed explanation on the other user’s racism was unreliable. This example was an extremely bad faith interpretation. Basically, they said that I called someone transphobic for… being in favor of the fictional ban on magic. In truth, I called this person transphobic for the transphobia that was in their fics (namely jokes about how men can’t get pregnant/that being able to get pregnant is what determines man from woman). Because that fic author happens to also be anti-magic, neednoggle attributed my discomfort with these jokes to the magic thing. It was really odd ngl, since I have pretty openly stated that, while you can make comparisons between having magic and being queer, it is ultimately a metaphor for religious persecution. (It’s… The Old Religion.)

A friend of mine, a brown person from the global south who I will keep anonymous unless they permit otherwise, called out the sympathy that people were projecting onto the queen. However, this was not handled well in the chat, especially not by the mods who you’d expect better from. I don’t think that this friend’s perspective was really taken into consideration at the end of the day, it was like they were talking to a brick wall. I ended up making a strong statement that people don’t get to just opt out of learning anti-racism, and that was taken as offensive by… everyone.

Despite reading these messages from my friend (who is, again, a brown person from the global south) and myself, neednoggle’s concern was more about how I was censoring(?) them by stating that some people in the fandom are racist and that I avoid spreading their posts for this reason. They ditched the conversation and a day later I found them talking about how it sucks so much for them, a white person, that there’s not a lot of fanfiction about Elyan. Maybe that wouldn’t happen if you didn’t tolerate racism, thus alienating fans of color while coddling racists? And maybe, just maybe, you should care about racism outside of its impact on your own personal entertainment? Hence my statement that enjoying a character of color does not make one anti-racist. Anyone’s capable of racism, and you can’t use a character as a shield.

Anyways, I ended the conversation with: “either you have zero tolerance for racism or you do tolerate it” and was ignored, much like I was ignored with the whitewashing thing. Avoidance must be the bread and butter of people like this.

In addition, I believe they’re also guilty of this trope I see a lot where Merlin and Morgana or whatever white characters have to teach Gwen and Lancelot or whatever brown & black characters how to read/write, despite nothing in the canon suggesting that they couldn’t already. That said, I could be thinking of someone else’s fic, idk. I seriously see this a lot and I have no idea when it got so prevalent, but when put alongside everything else, it becomes pretty suspicious. I’m not entirely confident on this one so take it with a grain of salt, but I’m pretty sure I’ve read a fic of theirs like this, and it’s just… Gwen and Lancelot were already literate in the canon, so I find it weird that it’s usually those two in particular who get singled out, especially since 1) Merlin comes from a very similar background, 2) Lancelot was exchanging letters with him for as long as two years, and 3) Gwen helped run a whole smithy.

So, in summation (because this is rlly fuckin’ long) neednoggle chose to die on the hill of “You can’t make me NOT reblog off of racist people! Also I should just be allowed to ignore racism if it makes me as a white person uncomfortable!” and then tried to say that my perception of who is/isn’t racist is not reliable by undermining and misattributing my discomfort with someone’s transphobic jokes (just to be absolutely clear, I very much stated when it happened that it was the person’s transphobia that made them transphobic; however, defending Uther’s ban on magic—even if it’s only a fictional genocide—is pretty disturbing, just like when someone defends a fictional character’s abuse, bigotry, etc. How do you apply those morals across the board?). They and everyone involved in that conversation either ignored or missed the point of what my friend, someone who has been directly affected by colonization and racism, had to say about all of it. And of course, there’s the whitewashing thing, which I only just randomly remembered today ?!? And, possibly, the trope thing. Basically I tried to #fix them but they’ve gotta be willing to fix themself, ya know?

Personally, although I do tend to discuss these issues with people before coming to any conclusions, I think that blocking or avoiding a handful of people is worth not potentially spreading their bigoted beliefs, and I don’t really wanna be in kahoots with people like that anyways, so I guess it’s difficult for me to understand why they were defending tooth and nail their right to hypothetically reblog off of hypothetical racists. It sucks when it turns out someone you liked is doing this stuff, but we’ve gotta have some integrity, even if it’s not easy. Neednoggle doesn’t seem to have that integrity.

reblog karma :: I prefer if people reblog from the source regardless of if they send me a meme or not (unless maybe ooc memes because it’s fun to send some back if they sent me some and reblogged from me and I notice that), but I’m not that bothered about it if people reblog from me and don’t send stuff, unless it’s non-mutuals/happens all the time excessively. I definitely prefer people to not send something out of obligation. I’ve seen folks talk about how they "know" people reblogged because they saw the meme "on their blog" even if they reblogged from the source and I think that’s... way too far, like, so what if they saw it from you and sent nothing if they reblogged from source/a meme blog? I understand wanting mutuals to interact with you and I agree that everyone would do well with making a little bit more effort to engage with their mutuals (liking gifsets and such is such a low effort way of signaling you value someone on your dash for example if you don’t have it in you to interact ic or talk), I don’t understand why anyone would want to be sent memes the other mun had no true interest in. I think everyone is entitled to their own rules with this, and I reblog from source on default, if available, unless I know the other mun prefers I reblog from them instead.

shipping :: Taking this to refer to romantic/sexual shipping. I love to ship! I hate that even I feel the need to say that "I am not here for ships only", as if simply saying I love shipping meant that that’s all I want from roleplay... I think the rpc as a whole should keep trying to unlearn any shame related to shipping, and I think that shame comes from misogyny. Romance in fiction is often both marketed towards women, and we automatically view romcoms, harlequin novels, etc. as "lesser" than, not real art/literature, shallow (which... there’s nothing wrong with something just being lighthearted entertainment, it doesn’t decrease the value of the work)... It’s not a coincidence the things commonly associated with "types of fiction women engage with" are seen as less valuable. It’s probably the source of the subtle feeling of "writing platonic dynamics is superior" in the rpc. It’s more internalised (you don’t have to be a woman to have internalised misogyny - I am not a woman and I’ve noticed these types of shame in myself) than anyone actually saying that about what other people write. My saying "I want to ship but I’m not here for only that" comes from shame related to internalised misogyny, just the feeling of needing to defend shipping by signaling that it’s not all you write is likely related to internalised misogyny. Being more nervous about asking if the other mun is interested in shipping than if they’re interested in a friendship interaction is likely related to internalised misogyny... Again: because romance as a genre is associated with being "for women", and systemic misogyny. Why else would it feel more shameful to suggest writing with another mun? Why should it?

Bet you all didn’t expect a social commentary on misogyny’s effect on fiction-

I love shipping, and I wish I were more bold in daring to suggest shipping. I think force shipping and not taking a no for an answer is a much, much smaller scale issue in the rpc than the shame related to wanting to ship. Like, on an individual level the former is a worse thing, but I don’t think it’s as prevalent as the internalised shame about ships.

your first muse :: Off tumblr? That goes so far back no one needs to see that; I don’t remember who exactly was my first private muse but I was about 14 years old and in many RPF fandoms so...

On tumblr, it was actually Iris, whom I write on this blog now; my first rp blog here was for her. Her character begun with an idea to make a Doctor Who OC who was manipulated into trying to assassinate the Doctor (which still remains a potential verse; wink wonk folks). This was in 2013. Hiya, random musing but have you ever watched “no country for old men”? The main villain uses a captive bolt pistol to kill people/break locks, which is directly referenced in s1 of TUA when Hazel and Cha Cha break into the academy. I thought this was weird because there’s no reason for this to be in the show outside of being a blatant reference, the weapon is never seen, mentioned or used again. The only other possible references to this movie I’ve noticed is that Klaus steals a black briefcase hoping that there’s money inside, ultimately getting himself into a world of trouble with Vietnam and Time Travel, while one of the main characters (a Vietnam veteran) from ncfom finds a black briefcase full of money that gets him into world of trouble with the villain and various gangs. I’ve never seen anyone online mention this. It’s strange as well because my Dad showed me ncfom just a few days before my sibling showed me TUA, so I made the connection easily. This, the Luke Skywalker comment, and the Footloose scene are the only movie references that I’ve caught which is extra strange (though maybe that’s just me not having seen any other references) because you’d think that a reference that blatant would have some kind of running gag or meaning or foreshadowing but it’s dropped and never picked up again. I know ncfom did well with the critics but it’s not something that’s referenced much (although I think the line “I’m older now than my father ever was” may have originated with this movie? Which is a line I’ve seen circulating a couple times).

This was a really interesting ask to receive. I hadn't noticed the parallels because it's been a while since I saw the movie and I never really felt the desire to circle back to it.

But it does make sense as a movie to make callbacks to, what with the story about a contract killer and someone fleeing from him while law enforcement runs around in circles, unable to do something about the abundance of violence. I will say this, apart from the captive bolt pistol (and even that), I don't know if the references are specific enough to truly be confined to that movie in particular. Motels are common locations in thrillers, and briefcases are a common object in heist movies and the like. There are some more visual parallels that can be drawn, like these:

But I do feel like 'tough person cleans up their wound wearing a wife-beater' is a visual I've seen a bunch of times, and 'cool guys don't look at explosions' is literally a trope so overused there's a fifteen-year-old parody song about it where that scene from No Country for Old Men literally features in the music video.

I get where you're coming from but I genuinely don't know how many - if any - of these references are actual references or if they are just entries in a long-standing visual history of crime cinema. It's not out of the question for it to be deliberate, Season 3 very deliberately shouts out Wes Anderson and specifically The Grand Budapest Hotel (see this amazing gifset for examples), but Wes Anderson has a more distinct visual style than the Coen brothers, so for S1 it really depends on interpretation.

yeah we're always open for Q&A thingies!!! they're fun to do :) also this is long i'm sorry i tend to ramble and i cant condense it i've always wanted to make a stim blog of my own but then i started to find inspiration in other accounts like heartnosekid and helium-stims for example and that motivated me to make the move and make a blog of my own and to make my own gifs also to like... contribute?? like the backrooms/poolrooms gifs cause i noticed there was like little to no backrooms things besides level 0 so i wanted to gif the levels for fun. or the cherries because i noticed many of them r the same ones (?? does this make sense...) yes, there is-- my gf bun also makes things for the blog! we share requests and stuff but she doesn't talk on here so thats why its a bit confusing im sorry (stuff she makes is usually in Proper Capitals and stuff i make is in lowercase if that helps) honestly she kinda just hopped on for the ride? i told her i made a stim blog and she wanted to be a part of it and she's been a big help since then, she's always liked the idea of making a stim blog as well and her fav blogs/inspirations r slimesprinkles and soft-stims
