Well they’re both on probation, so no they haven’t unless they want to be tossed in jail. Passive aggressive threats tho,,oh yeah. They gotta keep their kiddos’ suitors in line ✨

Breakdown is far more protective than Knockout, but if anyone breaks either of their hearts it’s Breakdown who has to hold KO back. Knockout is fine with maiming not killing 😂😂 he’d find a way to get away with it

What I like about them: I’m a sucker for moral ambiguity, and many shows have crushingly little gray morality in them (even TV shows, rather than cartoons). I love that Knock Out provides a little bit of this gray, and actually sticks with it (unlike a certain treacherous Seeker…). In fact, I believe you can see his inner battle as early as the episode “Patch,” where he almost unplugs Megatron during the cortical psychic patch. We never really learn his true motives for almost offing his leader –– whether they’re selfish or not, but I always thought that moment was incredibly interesting and revealing.

What I dislike about them: I wish Knock Out had been a little more consistent throughout the series. At times he seemed like he was just a background character, and then at others he felt like he could really make a plot-important decision. He seemed to jump around between Decepticons when it came to his loyalty, and I wish he’d been allowed to show his feelings more –– he was constantly pushed around, and he never seemed to be affected by it (or it was just a dumb reaction for laughs), and he never showed much response to anything that happened to Breakdown.

Favorite moment: I’m going to say my favorite moment is in “Deadlock,” when he’s packing, and he goes, “Pack light, pack light…OoOoh,” picks up a buffer, “Pack smart.” Also, I love the scene in “Synthesis” after Megatron defeats Predaking and Knock Out runs in with the Dark Star Saber, asking “Where’s tall, dark, and scaly?” Makes me laugh every time. ALSO literally every scene from “Thirst.”

Least favorite moment: Erm…I don’t really have one? I guess I didn’t really like when he teamed up with Starscream while Megatron was comatose. It goes back to that “wishy-washy” thing I kinda mentioned.

A situation with this character that I want to see explored more: More KOBD, always. Specifically, I wish we’d seen more of Knock Out’s reaction following Breakdown’s death/CYLAS taking over. We know he was angry, and we know what he did to CYLAS later, but I feel like we didn’t get to see the effects of the realization that Breakdown was truly gone.

An interesting AU for this character: I’d love to see how Knock Out would have grown as a person without the war. I think he has the potential to be a great doctor, and I think his sadism comes from “growing up” as a Decepticon, with that kind of culture constantly surrounding him. Or, similarly, I love Shattered Glass Knock Out renditions.

A crossover: Oh no…I don’t have a big enough stash of media to come up with decent cross-overs. I honestly can’t come up with something off the top of my head.

Ships: Breakdown is the obvious OTP –– it’s canon in IDW! I can definitely see him with Starscream too, though.

BROTP: Maybe post-war, something with Smokescreen? I can’t really see Bumblebee and him getting along, but I think he and Smokescreen would make a great team.

NOTP: I’m not a big fan of shipping KO with Bee or Smokey, romantically. No particular reason –– not one that I can pin my finger on anyway.

Headcanons: 1.) Knock Out was built during the Great War, as a “Made to Order” soldier (if any of you have read the IDW G1 comics). 2.) He started out innocent and wanting to do good, especially as a medic, but as the war dragged on, he found himself doing more heinous things. He actually hates a lot about “Decepticon culture,” and considers the Decepticons a tad hypocritical, considering what their original purpose was, not that the Autobots are much better…(and now I’m projecting).

Okay, we got cryptid bird seekers, but let me introduce you to cyptid cat KOBD family. Knock Out is pretty much a bit cat-brained he sees something moving fast and the next thing Bumblebee knows Knock Out is biting him.

Breakdown is less cat, but he had copied some cat traits from Knock Out. The most obvious ones being purring.

Wildbreak is a menace now. Anyone that aren't his parents picking him up will make him wail. And then you'd be scratched to hell and back by KO.

Oh my god Knockout as a sassy angry cat is genius. The whole KOBD fam just being a little colony of meow meows is a god tier concept 👏

So… I’m at a part in my story that I cannot continue without a name for the only two of Knockout and Breakdown’s bitties that survived… the first one is a femme that looks mostly like Breakdown, but slimmer and slightly smaller, has the two tires on her back like Knockout, KO’s optic rings, and legs. She also has Knockout’s crest. She’s KO’s color scheme: red, but the white is replaced with blue and silver where Breakdown’s silver is. She turns into an older Rav 4 down the line. A 1990’s version.

The second one is an exact replica of Knockout with wings instead of the tires on the back, no doors on the arms (still has the shoulder spikes/pads), a bit more aerodynamic since he’s a jet, and KO’s optic rings, but golden like BD’s. He’s red with darker red accents. He’s a seeker of sorts.

I think I may have lost the point of this story a bit, but I’m just gonna keep going… it’s either that, or succumb to the desire to just trash it and start over 😑 (Starscream gets bitties too 😋 7 of em)

As for names, are you asking for suggestions? Wildbreak is off the go to canon-ish option, tho idk if you’re including him. The names I usually default for for extra KOBD babies are like Hellraiser, Road Rage, Daredevil, Fast Track, Pitstop, and Speed Demon. Feel free to snipe any of those if you’re so inclined 🤗

hey so I started writing a oneshot fanfic that was just meant to be a cute kobd fic but like with royalty but then I started think about how fucked it would be if they were in time loop that knockout started to try and save breakdown but only breakdown remembers the time loops they are going through and then I started think about how that would affect the wider world at large and now I'm trying to plot out the politics and possible anomalies that could happen that are then add to the time loop that would further change things and cause more anomalies and poor prince breakdown trying his absolute best to make sure that his family makes it out of this seemingly impossible to avoid war that just keeps happening. knockout is from a noble house by the way and megatron is breakdown's adoptive parent.

Funny you should ask! I have this crack headcanon that Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were born to Knockout and an unknown sire post-war (and were subsequently taken away by Sparkling Protective Services on account of KO being a single parent and an ex-decepticon. It would explain Sideswipe's abandonment issues and delinquency, as he and Sunny were torn apart by the system and haven't seen each other in years). We can twist it around and say that, since Breakdown is still alive and well, Wildbreak gets not one but two baby brothers to play with, and they're a perfectly happy family of 5. Terror twins in the KOBD fam, anyone?
