Yeah, so I figured we’d see him unmasked here but I still went “EEEEEEE!!!!” out loud when we did. I know dream!vision!John is not the “real” John but that expression on his face, so calm, so gentle...?

There’s a reason why “I love him your honor” is one of my tags for John, lol... 😍

Did I really need to GIF this? Probably not. Yet I did it anyway. 😍👍

Tying their storylines back together will at least help to make all of the Madrigal stuff feel a little more relevant. Not that I dislike Kwan or hated the Madrigal story on its own, not at all, it just kept taking me away from Master Chief My Beloved™ you know? 🤷‍♀️

We needed a little more to keep their concurrent storylines together, IMO. Even just something like these scenes from 1x02 and 1x04. It made you feel like John had learned something from Kwan.

He also saw her again while the artifact was killing him in 1x05 but I’m running out of GIF space, sorry. It’s not that he had to stop every 10 seconds and be all, “Hey, Silver Team, listen to this awesome thing my pal Kwan told me!” and he certainly had plenty of storyline going on for his part, but darn it, maybe she had room in her storyline for a few Master Chief references, you know?

At least once on the Rubble, Kessler tries to use John as a climbing wall. All those footholds in the armor? Oh yeah.

John is a little confused, but he goes along with it.

Then Kwan wants in.

Eventually Soren and Laera walk in and find John standing there with a straight face and a maniacally giggling child hanging off each arm.

John doesn’t realize it until after he cuts the pellet out of his spine, but that was fun. He wants Kwan and Kessler to climb on him again so he can enjoy it in the moment this time.

The Halo Show isn't even a good standalone

Every time I read one of those dumbass posts that's like "even if the Halo show isn't a great adaptation it is still a good show" I want to explode!

A: No, the show is meant to be an adaptation of an existing franchise. If the show fails to be or feel like that franchise then it fails as a show. It's like if they made an Undertale show, but every character acted completely different and the plot was actually the plot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Yeah sure Sans looks like Sans but he keeps fucking talking about how a monster splinter terrorist group has somehow gotten their hands on a nuke and then he has sex with some woman. None of the characters are even shadows of the actual characters, they just have the same names! What makes it worse is I like Kwan as a character. I think having that human POV around Spartans is really important to show how weird they are and having a POV character who isn't part of the UNSC helps show the audience the political atmosphere of humanity. Instead, she is our "boyish hero" who climbs trees and survives the big battle. Like she watches her friend turn into paste and not even a day later is chit-chating with a FUCKING CYPTID!

B: The story is not good. The plot for the Halo tv show is an amalgamation of every space opera that has been released in the past twenty years. It has Mass Effect, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and some Star Trek all thrown in together and blended on high for fifty minutes. Like if space opera was what they wanted to make there are so many franchises for that. Halo on the other hand is military sci-fi with some light space opera elements. The focus of the series is the military engagements and the effect this war has on humanity not how everyone is concerned about the flow of deuterium. Come on, the human race is supposed to be on the cusp of extinction and the Admiral of the naval intelligence is concerned with heavy water.

Even if you took all the Halo out of the show it would still be a generic poorly written space opera. I don't understand how you could sit through that first episode and go: "Yeah that was a well-made piece of media."
