she wants to text mijoo back. she wants to explain why she didn’t join royal survival. she wanted to tell her how she wasn’t in a good headspace and royal survival ended up treating mijoo like shit anyways, so imagine how much worse it would have been for sunmi herself. it wasn’t her time to do it.

she regrets not doing enough. she doesn’t need reminders.

sunmi wants to let her know that she’s doing fine. nothing crazy happened yet. there’s some minor annoyances and she knows they’re not going to do to well but she can’t share that with anyone and it kills her a little. she has to live with this inside of her. she can’t even confess during interview times because it would only be used for drama.

when mijoo texts her again (and she sees it), she’s not surprised to know that she’s not given any screen time. she figures it would be mostly focused on the one nova trainee they’ve only ever given any kind of focus on in the last five years. she isn’t even annoyed to find out that that may just be the case. she wasn’t expecting any screen time or following during this show. she knows that nova will do whatever they want with her because they did nothing but lock her away when she was at the height of popularity by trainee standards.

sunmi wants to text back and tell her she feels like this was a glorified way of just promoting the boys solely because that’s all nova has ever cared about. she hates having the inability to share anything beyond courtesies when they’re on the phone. she hates keeping things from her best friend. they don’t do that.

they don’t do that.

things haven’t been going well. she can’t even face mijoo for the phone call this weekend. she really can’t think of anything to say to the other. if the show has been cut, edited and posted online before it’s even over, there’s no telling what mijoo has already seen. nothing for her to be disappointed in sunmi, apparently, because she still seeems to be on her side. it’s a reminder that mijoo has always been there through thick and thin and that’s not likely to change any time soon. it’s relieving.

she knows mijoo is trying her absolute best to make sunmi happy even when she’s under lock and key away from the general public. the voicemail makes her smile. it’s not that her best friend remembered -- it’s the fact that she took the time out of her undoubtedly full schedule to talk to her. to try and communicate with her. it’s been hard and sunmi has all but forgotten about her birthday but she’s glad that at least some people think of her on the outside even when her company doesn’t.

it’s a little booster for the day but sunmi genuinely and truly cannot wait until she was done with this god forsaken project and back home.
