I don't know why i never thought to ask you, but how do you get into writing for a blog like anime news network?
Outlets often send out calls for articles or have a section on their site for submissions. I saw one such call last year and just submitted for it. I ended up writing a couple of articles for ANN at the time.
It was a thrill since that site was so very important for forming my fandom when I was first getting into anime all those years ago.
BEST LONG-TIME PINING SHIPS: REDEMPTION ROUND R1 M8
Reasons to vote for each ship under the cut!
Nozomizo: Nozomizo essay linked here!!!
Yoohankim: okay okay so. kim dokja reads about yoo joonghyuk’s life for 10 years (he’s the main character of a webnovel kdj’s been reading). han sooyoung waits for 50 years in an alternate universe she’s stuck in. han sooyoung and yoo joonghyuk wait together for 3 years for kim dokja to return after he died (once). yoo joonghyuk and han sooyoung regress (die and go back in time to start over) and live through another apocalypse to get to kim dokja. it’s revealed han sooyoung was the one writing that webnovel kim dokja read for 10 years (she wanted to keep him alive). it’s also revealed yoo joonghyuk regressed 1863 times (so at least 1863 years) to find kim dokja. yoo joonghyuk goes into space for a long long while in hopes of getting kim dokja back. han sooyoung waits for both of them. it’s complicated but i can say with full certainty that combined they have pined for each other for 17 million years
Queerness and the Power of “Subtext” in Sound! Euphonium & Liz and the Blue Bird
Sound! Euphonium drew an audience of sapphic women due to the heavily implied romantic relationship between its two leads, Kumiko and Reina, but the show’s endgame saw them drifting apart as Reina confesses her love to an older male teacher and Kumiko becomes dedicated to her upperclassman friend Asuka.
The subtext between the characters has been enough for a small fandom to sustain itself for years, but the actual show ultimately failed to deliver. Years later, however, the spin-off film Liz and the Blue Bird, centered around side characters Nozomi and Mizore, provides audiences with the explicit queer representation many Euphonium viewers found themselves lacking.
Sound! Euphonium premiered in April 2015. Produced by Kyoto Animation, it exploded in popularity after a ship between the two female leads garnered attention online. The series is told through the eyes of Kumiko Oumae. A somewhat directionless young woman when we meet her, she is haunted by the final competition of her middle school band, when she unwittingly insulted a fellow classmate. The series follows her joining the newly rejuvenated concert band at her new high school and rekindling a connection with Reina Kousaka, the girl she drove to tears in middle school.
Even before any of their romantically coded interactions in the show itself, “Tutti!”, the ending theme for Euphonium’s first season, features a shot of Kumiko and Reina standing in a field, backs to each other, as a long red thread connects them. It’s the “red string of fate,” one of the most instantly recognized symbols of destined lovers.

The first is from the movie Liz and the Blue Bird. It depicts Kasaki Nozomi looking to the right, her hands behind her back. The subtitles at the bottom read "I'm not the kind of girl you think I am."
The second is from Skip and Loafer. It depicts Shima Sousuke. He smiles with his eyes closed, facing the right. The subtitles at the bottom read "You think too much of me." /End ID]

Dreamling: They've been pining after each other for about six hundred years. It's such a great ship because Dream is super depressed and suicidal and struggles to find a reason to live besides his function but Hob is hedonism incarnate and despite going through humanities worst times he still refuses to give up because life's worth living. Plus we've got RANGE: On one hand it's cutesy love confession and cuddling and smooching and on the other hand it's cannibalism. Also depending at which point in their lives they get together they can either be feral4feral and "I can make him worse" or realizing the error of their ways and helping each other become better people. Also also Dreams whole thing with Hob started off as a bet with Dream wanting to see Hob beg for death but somewhere along the lines he realized no, fuck, I think I actually care about him
