How to make the perfect marble blast clone in 2024:

aim in the opposite direction from marble it up, more responsivity, higher "game speed," bouncier marble.

instead of having the difficulty come from hefty momentum making you plan your turns ahead, have it come from the marble's spin potentially shooting off course if you don't consider each impact.

less focus on Tiny Wings style racetracks, more focus on organic jagged terrain that forces you to reckon with the shape of it directly

include a jump, but slowly phase it out. let it come to never be enough on its own, you reach heights by rebounding off sloped surfaces, doing wall hits.

only one powerup, pick it up & click to receive a boost in the direction the camera is pointing, be it laterally or vertically.

only one friction surface, marble blast platinum's Water. (extremely high friction, no bounce.)

it's a 3D precision platformer.

marble blast platinum still has the most wisdom and innovation regarding this genre, making it more than the best 3D sonic game. it made "marble maneuvering on a balance beam" into something fun and engaging. study it.

I made an “The Amazing Digital Circus” oc!!! Her name is Cosmo! (She/her pronounce)

I made her with influence of Marble Blast/Marble Blast Gold, an old marble parkour computer game that me and my brother loved to play when we were super young! When I think of the aesthetic of The Amazing Digital Circus I think of Marble Blast!

She doesn’t have a mouth and can only really speak in a small whisper, because I’m her past life she was often talked over or ignored to the point where she stayed silent around others

She cares for everyone and listens to their problems (God knows Caine or Bubble certainly don’t lol) but she’s mostly besties with Gangle and Ragatha! Sometimes Kinger too but he doesn’t come out of his fort much

Fun fact! Her brain is in her ass! Literally! Her head is clear so it’s for the brain’s own protection! Also her head can detach and roll and jump around like a marble!

I can add more info in later posts if people like her and want to know more! But at this point I feel like I’m rambling lol. Also I just made her last night so she’s not the most fleshed out character but I love her! And I hope y’all do too!

#365DaysOfVGM Day 90:

Tim Trance (Marble Blast Ultra [2006])

This Trance (With some Techno parts mixed in, such as the Drums) masterpiece composed by Tim Clarke is part of what led me to having a soft spot for the game itself, and it needed to fulfill this aspect, given it’s the only track in the whole game!

From the moment I started this game’s trial version on the Xbox Arcade Live Compilation disc on the console’s launch day, I knew this was a game worth playing the full version of, and while I don’t have that version anymore, it’s freeware on PC now, so recommending this game is very easy! It’s 3D platforming with a healthy mix of simple and challenging for those aiming for better records, taking advantage of the aspect of how it’d feel to control a round object like a marble

whoops sorry it took so long to get to this ask!

the demo version of Marble Blast Gold came preinstalled on macs around the mid-2000s. mom's macbook had it so I'd mess around with it whenever I got the chance. eventually I was feeling nostalgic in around late 2016 and found out that it had been stuck in copyright limbo for so long that a cracked version has just been floating around with zero repercussions whatsoever. these days it's been reverse engineered and ported to the web browser(!) as well as had a complete overhaul in the form of the PlatinumQuest mod.
