In my spanish class, we had to write a short paragraph describing a celebrity. I immediately forgot any celebrity I have ever heard of once that was announced, of course, so I ended up writing about Jonny Sims (featuring some creative interpretations of facts bc i couldnt be bothered to check and didnt know off the top of my head).
HOWEVER, while i was initially debating who to do, the people sitting near me suggested writing about a musician I liked. i laughed, bc the only thought i had was the mechs.
blame them for this:
Él es Jonny D’Ville. Es britanico o de Nueva Texas. Es cantante y pirata del espacio con su banda/amigos. Es imposible morirse. Es un criminal y es muy antipático. Él es mi gatito mojado. Me gusta mucho.

So um. We are interested in the Mechanisms but have no idea where to start with listening to them. Any advice? Do we like. Listen to their songs in release and album order or is there something more we gotta do?
YES YIPPEE YES YES Okay I can help you! Number one, you don't need to listen to the albums in release order, you can start with any of them (my recommendation is The Bifrost Incident or High Noon Over Camelot, they are, imo, the best and strongest albums but they're all winners tbh), BUT!! With the exceptions of Tales to be Told I + II, listen to the albums themselves in order, not on shuffle! At least the first time round. The stories each mainline album tells are part narrative segments part musical, so don't skip around the first time. After that though do whatever, it's fun. You can find them easy on YouTube, either on their own YouTube channel or on TheVoidSings with lyrics! Also Bandcamp at the very least? I think. I mostly listen on YouTube myself.
Also keep in mind that TTBT albums are mostly stand alone songs, though many have callbacks to other albums or take place in those settings! You'll get the most out of all of the songs honestly after listening through them all a few times. These guys absolutely fucking packed them to the brim with subtle symbolism and layers of world building, it's great.
There's also the fictions on their website, which expand upon the stories they're telling and the world's within, plus a little more info on the characters each member is playing.
Remember to be yourself and have fun! Enjoy your free space pirate brainworms that will inevitably show up once you start listening. 💓
Also there's no "gotta" you need to do to get involved w fandom spaces imo. Just listen to the music and have fun! I reccomend when you're finished with it all making an oc, but that's more my personal opinion on what the best way to enjoy works is LOL

So gang, with the tumblr ai announcement I'm thinking of setting up a dreamwidthe community for the mechs. It's rather similar to tumblr really, and it would be a nice centralized place for mechsposting.
I really truly do not want this fandom to die if this site goes under. I've made many good friends here. I think making a secondary online non-discord location for mechs posting would be wise.
