@buffythevampiregayer submitted: This very cute and friendly jumping spider from Salt Lake City, Utah, USA decided to pose for me. There were so many around the area that my sister's patio had about a half dozen visible at any given time.
Also enjoy this equally photogenic grasshopper that decided to sit with me for breakfast
Wow that IS a very photogenic grasshopper. And the spider is beautiful as well. Looks like a paradise jumper, maybe Habronattus festus. The grasshopper, I think, is likely a differential grasshopper :)
D brings in a gigantic bed (with a thick, soft blanket and pillows on it) and places it next to the gigantic cat bed.
D: This bed is for the fusions with no animal qualities. Let's put em all on here! And yes, this includes fusions involving your OCs, fusions involving my OCs and yours, fusions involving Dib @dib-thing-wannabe, fusions involving @redscorpiocat's OCs, etc. :D
Camillaron lays in the bed peacefully.
Melanoplus Anbeißen is tossing and turning in the bed. She accidentally clones herself in her sleep. The clone then unintentionally pushes Charity Cremebleich out of bed.
Cassette is whimpering in bed, since they are having a nightmare. Toni Crumblecomb takes notice and seems concerned.
Miss Malt Shake lies down, comfortable counting sheep. Jeanette Vendella is reading a manga.
Talia Spicefroth is deep in sleep, with an eyemask on.
(let me know if I am forgetting any. There are too many to remember off the top of my head)
North American Spur-throated Grasshopper (Melanoplus sp.) in my backyard, September 2018. Grasshoppers in this genus feed on many different kinds of grass and other plants, occasionally feeding on fruits or even tree bark. . . . . . . . #nature #ontario #melanoplus #grasshopper #spurthroatedgrasshopper #grasshoppers #orthoptera #naturephotography #macrophotography #entomology #norfolkwild #blognorfolk #backyardgarden #simcoeontario #norfolkcountyca (at Simcoe, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjP4IolO9qq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Scenes From My Walk - Small Unknown Grasshopper iNaturalist AI says it’s from the genus Melanoplus known as spur-throat grasshoppers. The markings are not like photos displayed but I guess it has multiple variations in this genus (I see around 30 listed). I suspect this is a baby because it is very tiny. I only saw it because it jumped in front of me. #ScenesFromMyWalk #UnknownGrasshopper #Grasshopper #SpurThroatGrasshopper #Arthropod #Insect #Naturalist #Melanoplus (at Agua Fria, New Mexico) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChdbMycL3ff/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
K (S*********[email protected]) submitted: Inukjuak (Husson Bay) Quebec, Canada. Wondering if your followers might know this little fella! They’re really far up North, and very pretty. I dare not guess if they’re a type of locust, or grasshopper.
I dunno about my followers, but I can tell you it’s a grasshopper with erythrism, which means it has either a lack of other pigments or an excess of red/pink pigments. This fella looks like probably a spur-throated grasshopper in the genus Melanoplus.
Locusts are grasshoppers, they’re just species that have a swarming phase. So all locusts are grasshoppers but not all grasshoppers are locusts. Some species in the genus Melanoplus will swarm, but I’m not sure if all of them do!
The now -extinct Rocky Mountain locust (Melanoplus spretus) was responsible for possibly the largest swarm ever recorded in 1875 with an area of 200,000 square miles, approximately the size of California. Yikes :)
Here is a fusion concept as requested by my friend Lina!
Melanoplus Anbeißen is the fusion of my Sugar Rush OC Theresa Truffla Treat and my Sugarsona Mercy Flikstick. Despite Theresa being my main OC, their fusion is not very compatible for two reasons:
Mercy's over compulsion involving insects often clouds her mind, and
Mercy actually sees Theresa as a tool, a sheep, a servant that can barely serve herself. Mercy has little respect for Theresa, and although they aren't so badly incompatible, these odds do make the fusion cluttered.
You may notice that all fusions that involve my Sugar Rush OC Theresa Truffla Treat, you can clearly see their eyebrows and eyes- even over their hair. That's because Theresa's character design differs from the final Sugar Rush racers. Not only does she have more human shapes in her nose and legs, but areas of her hair can turn transparent when her eyes and eyebrows are under it, thus making them look like they layer over the hair when they actually don't.
This trait is extremely distinguishing, and this is transferred into all fusions she's in. Some examples:
In comparison to Malice Barbshard, one of many non-Theresa fusions:
