ok but romance as horror?? not like an abuse story, i mean like the romance itself is the horror. 2 characters unwillingly falling in love, maybe there's some cosmic horror shit or like a metaliberation angle. with the story ending because the characters physically remove themselves from the narrative's grasp. idk

#bonus points if like one of the mcs is aroace and explicitly states it #i feel like it could it could be used to like #critique amatonormativity and all #“you must have a crush on them! you're such good friends” (you have to date because society says so) #“are you interested in anyone? (romance should always be prioritized over friendships) #and also how aro and ace identities tend to get erased cuz romance is seen as inherently more interesting than a meaningful friendship

ahh thank you so much, I'll check it out! I've only ever watched one(1) Tarantino movie (as far as I'm aware), but I remember vaguely enjoying it ..? I can't remember if he's generally considered any good, but I sure have heard a lot of people mention him in passing so that's either a really good sign or a really bad one lmao

The Restore of our Rotten Souls

Chapter #2 - Take care of her

With a smile I came as near as possible to Twice, and injected him with the serum, half a second before Hawks rise from the smoke curtain and crave that feather sword in his back. Sure, I was sad due to the lack of choice, but Hawks is my friend, I need to make sure he doesn't die here either.

- STAY BACK HAWKS! I'LL PROTECT YOU!

- Copycat?! What are you doing here?!

- I don't know. You just look like you need help!

Dabi, the villain who was Twice's friend just gave us a smirk and clapped his hands:

- Oh! How cute! Trying to be a hero young boy? Wanna die so early?

- Uh... no, I guess...

- Interesting. Then why are you here, Hyuko Toga? What would your sister think?

He advanced over me, pushing me to the wall of the corridor, and went to attack Hawks. He was already defenseless. I could see there were no feathers left.

I found strengh to grab my knife. I needed to stop him, so I ran, and jumped, in hope to make a high attack. Unfortunately, he was preventing. My cape opened on the front, leaving me guard opened to take attacks on the chest and abdome, so Dabi took the oportunity to blast on these vital points. It was painfully hard to breathe after that moment. I could feel my lungs failing. But I still needed to-

- HAWKS!

Thank to heavens, Tsukuyomi appeared at the right moment to get Hawks. I stood up as quickly as possible to get him to Hawks. And as soon as he got him, I shouted:

- GO! I'LL DEAL WITH DABI

- BUT, CAT! YOUR INJURY!

- Don't worry about me! I can manage! Now, GO!

He fleew away as soon as I told him so thankfully, 'cause I knew we couldn't fight him. But Dabi, being the idealist he is just mocked at me:

- How cute of you, your sissy would be so ashamed!

- I just wished to get here 20 seconds earlier... I could have saved him...

- Heh... as if i would believe in your lies.

I slowly walked to him, bringing my knife near his neck, and my creepy smile on my face:

- I don't care if you believe on it or not... I don't need your approval... I wanna... burn the Safety Comission down...

- Heh... you're just like her. Shame we're on different sides.

He hit me one last time, and I fell, facing the ceiling.

- Goodbye, Copycat.

- Good... bye... Touya...

When I couldn't hear him anymore, I started to crawl closer to Twice. The fact he didn't melt away kinda made me glad. Oumei would be so happy and sad at the same time. "I hope the serum works." The serum is made with parts of Anjou's blood, kept inside of small capsules that eject the serum inside the body as soon as the needle is craved into the skin. The effect is reverse a possible death, but I only had one left, so I chose Twice. I had a debt with him anyway:

- I... I'll wait for you here, Jin...

It took like 15 minutes for the serum complete the action. I was barely breathing and the air was getting heavier. But I was concentrating on breathing, I couldn't die yet. At the same time, my right hand was on Jin's back, waiting for him to wake up.

Suddenly, I felt my arm raise up a bit. "Jin?". He was breathing! Seconds later, he started to groan and move his neck:

- Where... where am... I? I DON'T KNOW!

- Jin? Are you okay?

- Only a pain on ba- Who is here!

- Left.

- Oh. Oh... Are you okay?

- I'm okay... I'm still breathing

Honestly, the conversation was not so similar from the ones I usually have. I could talk about my sister this time, and it made me happy. But when I started to feel my time coming over, I said what was in my head since I watched the hacked videos of the Metaliberation Front:

- Jin... thanks...

- Huh?

- For saving her... I'd probably lose my mind if she died. My sister... is the only one I have left... and I probably... Cough!

- Toga?!

- I... probably will never see her... ever again. So... Jin... Take care of her, please.

anyways “treats comrades as expendable” is probably hori’s #1 hint for whether we’re supposed to sympathize with a villain lol

1. USJ Shigaraki - did not give a fuck about all the small fry he was getting arrested and threatens Kurogiri; comes off as pretty one-dimensional

2. Stain - worked alone, but commended Izuku for fighting to save his friend; we get several characters admitting in canon that he had a point about the hero system

3. Summer Camp Shigaraki - when asked outright whether he planned on sacrificing the vanguard action squad, specifically denies it and says he has faith in them; in the same arc we start getting small flashbacks and more elaboration on his relationship with AFO, and we also get the Shimura reveal

4. Overhaul - what needs to be said, rly lol. he put his charge through painful experiments and readily sacrificed his own subordinates, literally one of the names of his group is the 8 expendables, and then he gets totally smacked down and his whole life destroyed

5. Gentle and La Brava - creepy af but they still meet this criteria. Gentle takes the fall for everything, sacrificing his own case so La Brava can get lighter charges; they’re supposed to be sweet or smth bcs hori’s like that

6. Metaliberation Army - basically tick every ‘evil villain’ box... rich and powerful, will torture people, leaders watch the conflict from afar while sending in their subordinates to be killed en masse // the LOV does everything differently, mostly looking out for one another and everyone taking equal part in the battle

Manga Wars Special: Naruto vs Naruto Gaiden (w/Sparda3g and BlueStarSaber)

I should say that much like the Metaliberation Army Arc Podcast, this Manga Wars Special was prerecorded months prior to Sparda3g taking his current ongoing hiatus, and for a matter of fact a couple weeks before Samurai 8 was serealized in Weekly Shounen Jump.    

What kept me from sharing this podcast sooner?   I just had a lot going on during that period last year. I couldn’t just simply discard a discussion like this because on the surface it would seem like there’s not much to discuss. However, when you look into the core of these two stories and outlook Mashashi Kishimoto coming off shortly after the main series it says a lot. 

Shout to @sparda3g and @bluestarsaber for an fun discussion.
