Tom and Star in their early adulthood < Star and Tom in their 40's

After three chaotic and strange months (they felt like a fever dream) I'm so glad to know that there are some things that will never change in my life no matter what happens. Things like my faith in God, my love for my father and sisters and my love for my studies and for the drawings I do, especially my tomstar stuff 🥹💖 Since I made that post about the third tomstar kid, I wanted to make another drawing of Tom and Star in their 40's bc I think that's my favorite timeline in my alternate universe now. It used to be when Star and Tom are in their early adulthood and still doing gf/bf romantic sh*t before they become rulers of Mewni. But two decades later when all the villains (from my story) have been defeated, when their kingdoms are thriving again thanks to their children, and Star and Tom are finally in peace, with no more duties other than enjoying each other's company and living every day as a happy old-married couple, I think I love this timeline more now 🤍✨

Tom was anticipating this day for so long — he gazed at the calendar hanging from his bedroom wall after he rose up from his bed and immediately broke out into a smile.

It was a special day; the anniversary of when you two first started dating.

It had to have been one of the best days of his life. Being able to finally hold you in his arms and kiss you like he always wanted to. He could finally call himself yours.

Honestly, he couldn’t ask for anything more than that.

Tom wanted everything to be perfect, so he already had ideas in mind for what you’d both do.

He had already found a special gift to give you too. Tom scoured the entire kingdom of Mewni to search for the perfect one. He loved giving you gifts and seeing your reactions, so he made sure the one he got would be the perfect one that expressed his love for you.

He had arranged for you both to meet at one of the places you both had your first few dates in. It was an enchanted forest, filled with cool colors and beautiful lights that emit from fairies.

And, although it was a place that held significance in his and your heart, you may or may not have forgotten where it was.

But no fear — your friend Star Butterfly is here!

She knows her way around basically everywhere. So she was happy to help you get there when you asked. Delighted even, because she knows how cute you and Tom are, and she’s happy to see you both finally being happy.

So, when it was finally time for you and Tom to meet up, Star picked you up and you both used her conveniently placed dimensional scissors to travel to the place where that beautiful enchanted forest was.

As the sun began to set, Tom's excitement grew. He meticulously decorated your favorite spot just how it had been the first time you both had a date there.

Just as the stars started to emerge, Tom heard footsteps approaching. His heart raced with anticipation.

As you stepped into the clearing, your eyes widened in surprise. Your face illuminated with a mix of curiosity and amazement.

The lights from the fairies known all too well by you twinkled in the trees, casting a warm glow. Soft sounds of nature music played in the background, creating an captivating atmosphere.

You gave him a soft smile and giggled, "Tom, what is all this?"

That pretty voice and that smile. The same one that he fell in love with. It still sent butterflies in his stomach, even after all this time.

But he smiled back at you, he couldn’t contain his excitement and joy.

"Happy anniversary, my love," Tom replied, his voice brimming with affection. "I wanted to create a magical evening just for us."

Your eyes shimmered with joy as you took in the romantic scene. He came over to you and gently took your hand in his. As he walked down the path surrounded by the ethereal beauty of the forest with you, you realized what was going on.

Tom had prepared a picnic, complete with your favorite treats. It was the same place where you both had once laughed, shared stories, and lost yourselves in each other's company.

And today, you’d do it all over again.

As the night deepened, Tom pulled out a small velvet box from his pocket. He held it out to you, his heart pounding. "This is for you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

With trembling hands, you opened the box, revealing the gift that hid inside.

A delicate pendant. It was a shimmering moonstone, reflecting the light of the stars above.

“Oh, Tom," you gasped, being unable to contain your excitement and breaking into a huge smile. "It's beautiful."

He smiled, his eyes filled with adoration. "I thought it was perfect for you," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "Whenever you wear it, remember that my love for you is as eternal as the moon and stars."

You couldn’t help but giggle and you threw your arms around him, tears of happiness streaming down your cheeks.

In that moment, surrounded by nature's embrace, you sealed your love with each other with a tender kiss.

As your both sat there with your arms wrapped around each other, Tom whispered, "Every day with you is an adventure, my love. Happy anniversary."

Why I Think The Royal Magic Wand Took The Form That It Did For Some Of The Past Rulers Of Mewni

Ok. Here I’ll be going over my thoughts on why the Royal Magic Wand took the form that it did for some of the past rulers of Mewni. As shown in the episode ‘Star Comes To Earth’, the Royal Magic Wand takes a different form depending on who is wielding it. So, I’ll be going over some of the rulers of Mewni and how each of their version of the Royal Magic Wand corresponds to each of them. Also, Spoiler Alert for the Star VS The Forces Of Evil TV series and the Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.

I think that the reason why Queen Skywynne’s version of the Royal Magic Wand had a clock on it is pretty self-explanatory. After all, as shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Queen Skywynne had quite a few spells that manipulate time. And as also shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Queen Skywynne saw time as an infinite paradox when she first grabbed the Royal Magic Wand. So, that probably also caused it to have a clock motif. Queen Skywynne’s version of the Royal Magic Wand also had black onyx crystal that made up the hands on its clock and black onyx crystal also partly powers Queen Skywynne’s version of the Royal Magic Wand as shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter. I heard that the color black is sometimes associated with regeneration and new beginnings which makes it fitting for Queen Skywynne since, as stated in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter, she was the first queen to write in the new Magic Book Of Spells since the old one was also destroyed in a fire and, despite the loss of almost all the knowledge of magic from her ancestors, created some really powerful spells like the Infuriating Repeater spell which helped construct a new and better version of Butterfly Castle after the old version was destroyed in said fire. I think that’s pretty much regeneration from the destruction of almost all the knowledge from Queen Skywynne’s ancestors and the destruction of the old version of Butterfly Castle. And it marked a new beginning for the Butterfly family just like how the hands on a clock mark the time of the day. Queen Skywynne persevered through that fearful and dark time which makes it fitting that black onyx crystal helps to power her wand since I heard that black onyx crystal is associated with overcoming overwhelming fears and worries. As shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter, Queen Skywynne’s wand also had ringing bells on it that make a sound that could only be heard by dogs, ferrets and pig-goats. I think that’s fitting since, as shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter, Skywynne is loyal to her kingdom just like how a dog is loyal to their owner, is intelligent just like a ferret and has an immense desire to learn more about magic spells just like how a pig-goat, as shown in the Moon The Undaunted chapter, has an immense desire for food. And I think the ringing bells on top of the clock on Queen Skywynne’s wand are also fitting because just like how an alarm clock rings to signal a person to wake up, the kingdom of Mewni rang its bell to signal Queen Skywynne to stay awake to serve it and Skywynne did just that by not following her lazy mother’s example as shown in the Skywynne Queen Of Hours chapter.

As shown in the Jushtin The Uncalculated chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Jushtin’s version of the Royal Magic Wand is a pink and white striped cane with a living alligator head and a heart with wings on it. And as also shown in the Jushtin The Uncalculated chapter, Jushtin was pretty upbeat. I think that the pink and white striped cane part of Jushtin’s wand was a nod to how upbeat Jushtin was. After all, the pink and white striped cane does kinda look like a candy cane and candy canes seem to convey cheerfulness and optimism. As for the living alligator head, I think that came from the fact that Jushtin is, as shown in the Jushtin The Uncalculated chapter, very loyal to his family and to his kingdom. After all, as stated in the Jushtin The Uncalculated chapter, the living alligator head on Jushtin’s wand never bites their Jushtin since he’s their ‘dad’ and they love him. And I think the heart with wings came from Jushtin’s love for the people around him. After all, as shown in the Jushtin The Uncalculated chapter, Jushtin loved his mother Skywynne, his math tutor and his “Boy-Prince Cru”.

As shown in the Solaria The Monster Carver chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Solaria’s version of the Royal Magic Wand is a sword that harnesses aggression. I think the reason for that is so obvious that I don’t think it has to be explained that much. After all, as shown in the Solaria The Monster Carver chapter, Solaria seems to love fighting and is also extremely aggressive to the point of taking cruel enjoyment out of the deaths of monsters.

As shown in the Eclipsa The Queen Of Darkness chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Queen Eclipsa’s version of the Royal Magic Wand is an umbrella. I think the reason why that is the case is because of how Eclipsa coped with her trauma. As shown in the episode ‘Moon The Undaunted’, Eclipsa was frozen in a crystal for generations. Also, as shown in the episode ‘Butterfly Trap’, Eclipsa was labeled as evil for marrying a monster named Globgor and Eclipsa’s daughter Meteora was taken away from her after she was frozen in that crystal. So, Eclipsa has suffered quite a lot over the course of her life. But, despite that, Eclipsa seems pretty calm and optimistic. For example, as shown in the episode ‘Stranger Danger’, Eclipsa seemed pretty calm despite everything that she’s been through. Picture Eclipsa’s trauma as a rainstorm and Eclipsa’s rather surprising ability to cope with it as an umbrella. The proverbial umbrella that is Eclipsa’s ability to cope with her trauma helped to at least more or less persevere through the proverbial rainstorm that is her trauma. So, I think that Eclipsa’s wand taking the form of an umbrella symbolized her ability to cope with her trauma.

As shown in Crescenta The Eager chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Queen Crescenta has quite an overinflated ego and, if her spells are any indication, seemed to have a screw loose. That makes it quite ironic that Crescenta’s version of the Royal Magic Wand has 3 hearts on it. One heart made of ruby. One heart with a ribbon wrapped around it. And one heart right above the crystal heart. In the Crescenta The Eager chapter, Crescenta claimed that a heart on her wand meant that she had a big heart and truly wanted to help her kingdom. But given that, as also shown in the Crescenta The Eager chapter, Crescenta not only had an oversized ego but also came up with the Monster Arm spell and a spell to turn her sister into a wolf, I doubt that’s the case. So, I think those 3 hearts on Crescenta’s wand mean something else. Here’s a metaphor to explain what I think the ruby heart means. Crescenta had a heart frozen in ruby. As everyone knows, a frozen heart is a metaphor used to describe someone who is apathetic and detached from the people around them. And like I pointed out, Crescenta came up with spells like the Monster Arm spell and a spell to turn her sister into a wolf. So, in that regard, Crescenta definitely has a frozen heart. As for the part about Crescenta’s heart being frozen in ruby, I think that reflects Crescenta’s ego and pride. After all, just like how a ruby can gleam in the light, Crescenta likes to gleam in the spotlight. There’s also something else I noticed about the crystal heart on Crescenta’s wand. It’s on a purple heart and around that, an outline of a yellow heart. I heard that the color purple is associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power and ambition which corresponds well with Crescenta’s personality since, as shown in the Crescenta The Eager chapter, she had an ambitious desire to become queen. I also heard that the color yellow is associated with joy and happiness which corresponds disturbingly well with how Crescenta, as also shown in the Crescenta The Eager chapter, used a spell on herself to remove all negativity from her mind in order to stay optimistic and cheerful. In this regard, I also think it’s fitting that the outline of the yellow heart is around the purple heart since, as shown in the Crescenta The Eager chapter, the reason why Crescenta used that spell on herself to remove all the negativity from her mind and stay cheerful was in order to help prepare herself for her royal duties and thus fulfill her ambitions as a royal. That means that Crescenta’s desire to be happy and cheerful was a byproduct of her ambitions as a royal. And I think the reason why the ruby heart is in the center of the purple heart and the yellow heart is because the crystal heart, as I explained earlier, reflects Crescenta’s desire to be in the spotlight which is right in the center of and also what sparked Crescenta’s ambitions as a royal that the purple heart reflects which then sparked Crescenta’s desire to be happy and cheerful that the yellow heart reflects. Also, there’s another heart right above the ruby heart, the purple heart and the yellow heart. I think that heart reflects how much Crescenta puts her heart into her exploits in order to fulfill her desires and ambitions. After all, as stated in the Crescenta The Eager chapter, while Crescenta does indeed have an overinflated ego, she at least works hard to get to where she is partly because she did join the Junior Castle Guard in order to keep watch over the castle during the night. There’s also one more heart with a ribbon-like bow right below the ruby heart, the purple heart and the yellow heart. I think that heart with the ribbon-like bow around it reflects Crescenta’s love for her status. Ironically, I also think that’s why there are swan feathers attached to the heart with the ribbon-like bow. I heard that swan feathers are sometimes considered a warning that something is out of balance. I think that’s fitting because, while status and power are good and all, they can’t love a person back.

As shown in the Comet The Chef chapter of the Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Comet loved cooking and making food. I think that makes it fitting that Queen Comet’s wand crystal was, as stated in the Comet The Chef chapter, made of a type of quartz called Baker’s Quartz since I heard that quartz is a great countertop material for those who like to cook and bake. I think Comet loving to cook and make food also makes it fitting that her wand handle, as also stated in the Comet The Chef chapter, was a rolling dowel which is a tool for making food. And as stated in the Comet The Chef chapter, Comet’s wand also had hearts and angel-like wings on it. I think that represents how Comet, as shown in the Comet The Chef chapter, was very kind to the point that she wanted to make peace with all of monster kind. That’s very impressive considering the fact that, as far as recorded Mewni history is concerned, Comet was the only royal besides Queen Eclipsa and Star Butterfly who wanted to do so.

As shown in the Moon The Undaunted chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Queen Moon used to be pretty optimistic and happy but then was deeply traumatized by the death of her mother. And as also shown in the Moon The Undaunted chapter, the crystal on Moon’s wand was heart-shaped and a type of crystal from the Crystal Dimension that was almost indestructible. I think that’s fitting since Moon’s heart used to be full of happiness and optimism before then being hardened by the death of her mother. I think that the fact that it was an almost indestructible type of crystal represented just how hardened Moon’s heart was. After all, Moon’s heart was hardened to the point that, as shown in the episode ‘Mr. Candle Cares’, when Star asked Moon: “Are you happy?”, Moon responded with: “Happy? What difference does that make?”. And as stated in the Moon The Undaunted chapter, Moon’s wand handle was made of Snakewood, a material that’s found in the Neverzone, a region in Dimension X-103. And as shown in the episode ‘Running With Scissors’, time in Dimension X-103 flows differently to the point that 16 years in Dimension X-103 and, by extension, the Neverzone equals 8 minutes on Earth which caused Marco Diaz to become an adult while he was there whereas all of his friends on Earth were still teenagers. I think this is a nod to how Moon, as shown in the episode ‘Moon The Undaunted’, was forced to, at least metaphorically, grow up as if she were an adult despite the fact that she was still a teenager at the time.

As shown in the Star The Underestimated chapter of Star VS The Forces Of Evil: The Magic Book Of Spells, Star’s version of the Royal Magic Wand has what seems to be one star on top of another one with 5 hearts around it. And as shown in the episode ‘Star Comes To Earth’, Star is incredibly optimistic and is an extremely passionate person. So, I think the star represents Star’s optimism since, as probably knows, looking to the stars is sometimes associated with feeling hope and the 5 hearts represent Star’s passion since being passionate about something means, metaphorically speaking, pouring your heart into it. I think this might also explain why Star can be so chaotic sometimes which was something that was demonstrated in the episode ‘Star VS. Echo Creek’ where Star got into a sugar rush and accidentally destroyed a police car. After all, having too much of the hopes and dreams of an optimist combined with too much of the heart and drive of a passionate person could cause someone to have so much heart and drive to achieve their hopes and dreams that they might take things too far. There’s also a butterfly with a couple of angel-like wings right next to it. I heard that butterflies symbolize change and transformation. So, I think that represents how Star changed when it came to her view of monster-kind. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Lobster Claws’, Star used to think that monsters were nothing but evil but as shown in the episode ‘Mewnipendence Day’, Star’s view on monsters changed to the point that she let Buff-Frog go and later gave him some corn. And I think the angel-like wings represent the kindness Star showed as a result. Also, I think that Star’s wand crystal being yellow represents Star’s optimism. As I said earlier, Star is pretty optimistic and as I also said earlier, I heard that the color yellow is sometimes associated with happiness.

I'm sorry but that Moon Butterfly post is bothering me way more than it should (the twitter user) so, spoilers for Star vs.

If anyone followed the latter seasons of the show, it is revealed that somehow the humans travelled to the dimension of mewni and Glossarick gave one of them the magic wand (that was how it was established that the heir to the throne is prioritized to the woman) and also, that the first mewmans were pretty much colonizers.

They kept persecuting the monsters, took away their land until at some point, a lot of monsters couldn't take it anymore and decided to go to another dimension to find a new home. So yeah, some fucked up implications over there.

And in the end when Eclipsa starts making things better for the monsters. Moon decides to attack Eclipsa's kingdom to take the throne back (there was a whole drama about how Star's lineage isn't the original royal line but that's another thing) and starts working with the literal ultimate monster racist.

So, yeah, calling moon biracial has some fucked up implications.

Speaking as someone completely unfamiliar with this show, sounds it.

🧶 - Do they do any arts, crafts, or creative hobbies?

In the aftermath of the war between the Queenguards and their allies and The Titanic Ten, the resurrected legendary warriors, and rebel monsters whose side with them, and the arrival of the continent, Sweetopia, where The Candyfolk Kingdom reside (created by @cooltmoney95) coming to help aid everyone in the rebuilding of Mewni, she take up baking to help provide food aids for the people of baking. Vincenza is fast enough magically to delivery messages (if her crow, Salem is needed by the Second Division) to Captain Fum and food aids. Even considering helping Spikeballs (Her knight, Vega’s dad) out in construction work in repairing villages. But baking is what she got into the most in the rebuilding phrase of Mewni. The scent of breads rising up in the oven, freshly baked are so wonderful. This is all thanks to Vincenza spending her time with Gino Churro.

💙 - Describe their bedroom! Is it personalized, unchanged? Messy, neat?

Vincenza tried to make her room neat and tidy to be presentable of her royal status. Her clothes are kept in her dress cabinet (it is where she stash board games and a box of her maps). She make sure to dusts it before the maids do. However, the room will occasionally have eagle feathers and outdated maps of Mewni, that she drew, scattered on the floor. Vincenza make sure to pick up the outdated maps and put them in a box for safekeeping. Otherwise the maids will throw them away by going into the trash, or worst, her mother see them.

Vincenza personalized her room to be a mix of Bloomcore and in-between Gothpunk and Whimsigothcore.

Vincenza only appear in @kururu418’s Tales of Mewni (main storyline), the stories I typed using prompts, and the story of her and @laylaylamode’s Jia exploring Noceto Forest. I really need to finish the sequel. 😥

Her secret desire is to marry Fum (this character is The Captain of the Fifth Division and he belongs to @kururu418), but everyone in the Queensguard know. Her colleague, Robin Skylight (@cooltmoney95’s ToM SVTFOE next gen character) calls her Simp. 😂. That is why she is honing her size manipulation, in order to becomes bigger. By bigger, I means giant-sized, so she can challenge Fum to a duel of love. However, Lilli (ToM Brownie OC of @doomface) seem to beats her to it 😂.

Vincenza doesn’t put much in though. Usually always wear her double dutch braids in her duty as a knight.

When it come to social events and representing the pixies in Pixtopia, Vincenza put a lot of effort in her appearances when it come to social events. She wears a Dutch Braided Bun when attending meetings with the heirs of Mewni Kingdoms and Monster Tribes on Cordelia’s behalf.

In her time on Earth, Vincenza is low-key into gothic fashion (Originally Pastel Goth. Vincenza is trying out a combination of Romantic Gothic Fashion and Faerie Gothic Fashion). Her theme of fashion is a cherry blossom theme.

My Star vs the forces of evil oc is an oc I had made like around 2020 its been very long actually, she's a very old oc. Her lore was that she wanted to destroy the kingdom of Mewni because of how mewmans lived in poverty and you know all that monarchy stuff. The lower class being those without powers and lived in horrible life conditions while the rich live better. So she does dark magic, bad things happened she turns to stone and done. Now I made her design fit into a more Gothic aesthetic I think? She loves the idea of immortality and basically messes with life itself. She is what a butterfly means, rebirth. She actually is a past Queen of Mewni like the ones before Skywynne. And she doesn't actually have children, the only one who does is her brother.

Decided to do some redesigns. The Long-Armed Gibbon Yuan new design is much better in color I do planned to give her a scarf but I think it's better in more of a past outfit. Another thing their outfit majorly inspired by Ring Ring from Pucca, if you ever seen Pucca you have seen what her powers are and I planned to incorporate them in Yuan for the sake of symbolism, their origin and everything about them. Changing some lore, powers and basically a lot of things from them.

I love her designs ngl she's so prettyyyyy I always wanted to use her design. Also some powers that Ring Ring has will also be in Yuan such as that super operatic scream and the sleeves thingy. But it's because Yuan has super long arms. Another thing Yuan is actually taller than Wukong and Macaque combined even in my headcannon size thing, Yuan is taller than anybody except for Azure. Mother fucker is tall. Once I have an official design for Yuan then I can naming off their powers, stories well almost some and I can try to give them a past outfit too. But just know they were born from the heavens or basically space as their specialty is control over it. A very powerful monkey, their weapons is undecided but just know they are a magic users with spells. Maybe I should give her a wand.

Oh one thing I do like the idea that Yuan can extend their whole body out and can be like a spinel I'm still thinking about it.

Breeze was the natural pick to become the next Captain Commander of the Shields Of Mewni (formally known as the Queensguard) after the war with the Ten. She’s held the position ever since, and relocated to the Butterfly castle in order to better carry out her duties. She works closely alongside her husband Sandor (who is captain of the Guard for the Septarian Kingdom) and her son (the personal guard of Princess Sagitta Butterfly). Powerful and highly respected by all who work under her, her mere presence usually discourages discourse among both Mewni itself and the ranks of the Shields. Like her mentor, she spends her free time teaching the next generation of Mewni’s young warriors. Though those who show particularly high potential she takes a much closer interest in.

Svtfoe AU: Toffee was framed

Initial thoughts on an AU were the Magic High Commission assassinated Queen Comet and framed Toffee.

a peace treaty is written that blatantly favors mewmens and the Butterfly kingdom. Toffee, along with several other members of monster royalty, are unwilling to sign.

-Toffee was the most adept negotiator there, and the magic high commission did not want to risk him negotiating a better treaty, especially since he has been pretty vocal about hating the one the mewni court had written up.

-Toffee had a pre-existing reputation for killing members of the royal court on the battlefield, and being quite proud of it. These were conflicts in which the mewmens were pretty clearly the aggressors, but nevertheless it only made it easier to see him killing Queen Comet.

-Toffee may have had odd mannerisms(depending on how my headcanons evolve), by both mewmen and monster standards, and wasn't good at keeping close friends. Not that that'd have mattered, it was his word against the Magic High Commission, but the less people in his corner the better.

-Unsure how it should go down, on one hand, the Magic High Commission could be sloppy about it(multiple witnesses, Toffee has a strong alibi) and it doesn't matter, alternately, they could be competent, perhaps one of them gets him alone to "discuss their disagreements privately" while the assassination is carried out so he doesn't have an alibi.

Not long after Vien received an urgent message from Camille. The kingdom of Mewni begins to be attacked by obsidian statues. "The new weapon is much better than I expected." The new scythe cuts right through the anti-dark magic coating of obsidian statues. So the fight was not as difficult as expected. The voice just fell. Vien chopped an obsidian statue in half.

Queens of Mewni headcanons

Have some headcanons of some queens of Mewni!

Festivia obviously favored Cresenta over Dirhhennia. Even hoping that her youngest daughter would be allowed to be her heir, which eventually happened.

Comet and Etheria did not get along growing up, at all.

Cresenta was the one who arranged Rhina’s marriage to John, not really caring that her daughter objected to it.

Celena taught Comet how to cook.

Rumors went around that Feativia had many extramarital affairs and that Cresenta was the result of one, and that she was an illegitimate heir.

Rumor also had it that Rhina was actually Dirhhennia’s and Chad’s daughter, and that Cresenta took and raised her as an heir after turning Dirhhennia into a wolf.

Celena was dubbed the most beautiful queen of Mewni by the people.

Jushtin gave Eclipsa her signature hat as a birthday present.

Estrella made the tapestries of the previous queens.

Comet and Lazlo divorced shortly after Felicity was born.

Celena did have some demon traits inherited from her father, most notably her fangs. But she kept those traits a secret.

Eclipsa often went to the Spiderbite kingdom to visit her aunt and uncle.

Estrella was dubbed the most loved queen of Mewni.

Magic as Security in SVTFOE

But magic isn’t an allegory for capitalism in Star versus the Forces of Evil. Besides the fact that a one-to-one allegory is boring (”I’ve always been looking for the quadruple entrende, what Shakespeare could do,” as Courtney Love says, and Shakespeare scholar and literary beacon, Marilynne Robinson has said as much in interviews), it just doesn’t make sense as a direct allegory. The show’s observations about financial situations were actually pretty direct: Rich pigeon’s character and his kingdom’s quick rise in Mewni society is clearly not hiding the show’s thoughts about capital power (and it’s actually one of the more nuanced takes on capitalism, without ever endorsing it). But Star and her family are part of a feudal system, not a capitalist one. The writers have something else up there sleeves, at once more relevant to their young teen audience and more all-encompassing of a kyriarchical structure than a simple take-down of capitalism. 

Instead, the whole show starts to cohere when you see magic metaphorically standing in for a sense of security. It may seem like I just made my own one-to-one allegory, but the way it’s applied in the series is anything but some pat moralistic offering. In the first season, the influx of magic serves to free Marco, “the safe kid,” from his rampant anxiety. In fact, Star and her magic early on, when read as a metaphor for security, serve to distinguish security from safety. Marco’s desire to be always prepared but never in danger is radically flipped by fiery rainbows, laser puppies, and giant monster squirrels. He has to make peace with chaos and trust (that is feel secure) in his abilities to accept the unpredictable nature of his new reality, find means to respond to the chaos (rather than avoid it), and get through to the other side of his efforts and often pain. Cartoon logic of course helps with his survival but the theme of developing the emotional security to face one’s problems stands pretty sturdy. 

This idea of security evolves with the show to depict the role fear and safety play in constructing gender roles and racial hierarchies--and how the gift of emotional security can allow exploration and disruption of these prejudices. It’s infinitely queering (an aspect that the show explores in many, many ways). I want to point out here how integral security and imagination are to one another. The well of magic is a source of comfort for Star, eventually for Marco, and for many other characters who get to be close to it, in the way it explodes and rejects norms to privilege an individual’s emotional landscapes, which then find unique manifestation in their spells.

How does something so beautiful eventually go wrong, then? One place to look for an answer is the council, who manage imprisonment, travel, and time-space. The first two, have a pretty clear parallel to contemporary institutions--prison systems and immigration--that purport to provide security, and in many ways, do, for the members of their nation. Time-space might be harder to parse out, except that when we consider that Father Time is a distinct entity from time-space. Time-Space is not time itself but the concept and practice of alternative realities and multiple chances, as seen in the “Mathmagic” episode. It’s a similar philosophical belief to many afterlife concepts. All of these systems privilege the Self and provide emotional security, but do so at the cost of others’ liberties. Capital, as it is now, functions along those lines, which is why I think many made the connection between magic and capital; it’s not wrong, but it’s not broad enough--we named it a square but didn’t acknowledge that a square is also a rectangle and a quadrilateral.

When magic is destroyed in the end, the rulers of Mewni gave up security. They give up security in their own safety, the safety of their people, and assurances of happiness and life, itself. Required for this act: trust and emotional security. It’s the paradox at the heart of the show that magic is required to destroy magic. Emotional security is required to let go of emotional security. On the other side is a more dangerous and strange world but where everyone is in peril together, and doing their best to address it together, too.

There are deeply queer feminist , democratic, antiracist, and globalist implications to this conclusion that got drowned out by shippers in the fandom. And many, perhaps invested in a grassroots-led and enacted revolutionary movement, were turned off by the finale and turned on the show overall because of it. (Others have complaints about rushed pacing, which is funny to me in a show whose core humor relied on manically-paced jokes and plot lol) But more narratives of revolution, especially one’s that acknowledge anticolonial struggles, like Andor, are beginning to acknowledge the solidarity across groups and classes historically required to ignite change (and svtfoe, with it’s references to the Mexican revolution among others, which I wanna address in some later essay, certainly fits in this category). The world at the end of the series will never be the same, which is a revolutionary promise without the fantasy of utopia. It’s gonna get a little weird and a little wild, and we can figure it out together.

This is a mix between now and in the future when she is an adult, but it is further encouraging good relations between the Fire Nymph Tribe and the Lucitor Kingdom, as well as bringing in more recreational opportunities for the Tribe. Since becoming Warlord Cole's assistant and than later doing correspondence work with Princess Vera, she has been kept very busy but she greatly enjoys the work she is doing and feels happy knowing she has such an important role in her tribe.

Another current priority for her, which is more of a side priority, is improving her combat skills. While normally being a pacifist, overtime she wanted to learn how to better defend herself. Since the incident in her childhood where she twisted her ankle trying to run away from a wild animal, she wanted to develop her combat skills to both better defend herself and be able to protect her loved ones, should it ever come to that.

When she was younger, her highest priority was becoming a successful and popular seamstress. She always enjoyed making clothes and apprenticing under her village's seamstress, and it was always her dream to make more fashionable clothes for the tribe and eventually the rest of Mewni if she got popular enough. While she has put this dream on the side currently, she still enjoys going back and making clothes when she can, especially as it is relaxing when things get too hectic in her life.

Kind of in-between? Normally she keeps to herself and gets startled by sudden touches from others, but she does enjoy physical affection between her family and those she is comfortable with. It might take her a bit as she gets used to someone, but in time she will gladly return any hug.

Her bedroom is always in an organized chaos state. With her seamstress work, reading, and other hobbies and projects, she tends to have things all-over the place but put away in a way where she can easily find them, even when others cannot. Though, since she has recently gotten a studio to move some of her stuff in, her room has become less cluttered and has more of a comfortable but still personalized and artsy vibe.
