Regarding Lower Decks. How many headcanons do you have about Billups? I’d love to hear them. I have tons about Tendi and Rutherford myself (yes they’re my favourite characters, I see a lot of myself in them). I’m just curious.
Alright, buckle up, because I have a lot.
One time, a federation starship had to rescue the Monaveen. Andy became fascinated by the engineers working to repair the ship. The chief engineer, a Denobulan, saw how fascinated he was and offered to give Andy a tour of her starship. He was hooked on Starfleet ever since.
He would commonly sneak away from his mother and climb over the castle walls to see the engineers (blacksmiths) work on the Royal starships.
He was assigned to the USS Enterprise D when he was either an ensign or a cadet. He actually stayed on board for quite a while. (I came up with this from his lines "Mark Twain's got a gun!" and "Tasha no! The garbage bags behind you! l)
It was Wesley Crusher that gave him the nickname Andy, because nobody could pronounce Andarithio correctly (even in the episode it's pronounced several different ways).
Billups freaks out over blood, burns, bugs, very strong smelling food, high pitched noises, any kind of random surprises, and people randomly touching him.
Despite him normally freaking out over blood and burns, he is able to go into autopilot in engineering, especially if the ship is in battle. He also has a very high pain tolerance. There's been several times after something happened in engineering where he walks out unaware of how injured he is.
Immediately after the events of No Small Parts, he raced into engineering and evacuated all the other engineers that way he could try and stabilize the warp core. He was successful, but he got severe radiation sickness and had to take it easy for a while. (That's also my explanation for why he's not really in season 2 until the end)
Andy presses his uniform and polishes his pips and combadge every night.
His main source of stress relief, besides engineering a solution to a problem, is working out. That is why he is so ripped.
And that's it, I'm sure I will come up with more later, that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Lower Decks TendixRutherford Writing Prompts
Please let me know if you use one so I can read it! (list may be updated)
- Mariner has a ship-wide betting pool on what (if anything) will happen between Rutherford and Tendi. Boimler doesn't know because he would definitely accidentally let it slip. Ransom sends Rutherford and Tendi to Ferenginar in an effort to push them closer together as his bet is on a relationship. Dr. Migleemo finds out and interrupts them because his bet is on friendship. (Based on Star Trek: Lower Decks Episode, "Parth Ferengi's Heart Place")
- What if Dr. Migleemo didn't show up and essentially save Rutherford and Tendi? (Based on Star Trek: Lower Decks Episode, "Parth Ferengi's Heart Place")
- "Computer, locate Tendi." "Computer, no!" "I don't know what you're thinking but you stay away from her!" Rutherford would be lying if he said he wasn't scared about what his past self was going to do to Tendi. (Based on Star Trek: Lower Decks Episode, "Reflections")
- What if past Rutherford had won? (Based on Star Trek: Lower Decks Episode, "Reflections")
- Rutherford goes into the radioactive warp core to save the Cerritos.
- Tendi feels the ship shake as an explosion tears through engineering. Her blood turns to ice.
- Tendi's thoughts during the Monaveen explosion incident. (Based on Star Trek: Lower Decks Episode, "Where Pleasant Fountains Lie")
- Mariner plays matchmaker.
- Tendi is stuck in the holodeck with the safety parameters disabled. Rutherford works tirelessly to get her out.
- Tendi achieves her goal of becoming a Captain.
- Rutherford has to find a way to get Tendi's ring size without attracting suspicion.
- Tendi gives Rutherford a smile. He never realized how pretty her eyes were.
- Several years into the future, Tendi and Rutherford are stationed on different ships. They miss each other terribly.
- Tendi drinks coffee for the first time.
- An enemy of Tendi's family makes an assassination attempt on her.
- Jefferies tube relations.
- After Tendi gets back from Orion, she wonders why Rutherford never talks about his family/parents.
- "Okay, what's the plan?" "I was just going to get killed" Tendi finds out what Rutherford's "plan" was after she and Boimler get back to the Cerritos. (Based on Star Trek: Lower Decks Episode, "A Few Badgeys More")
- Rutherford's old implant is recovered and his old memories are restored. (Based on Star Trek: Lower Decks episode, "A Few Badgeys More")
