Is there a part 2 to Yandere Male makima reader x hsr? I absolutely love this story??!
I'd like to imagine reader playing along with caelus's antics of digging through trash cans and possibly helping him find other trash cans to dive lol
Dan heng and reader having mutual thoughts because there are two troublemakers of the astral express.. (yk who)
I don’t usually write these things (asks for updates) but since you caught me at a nice time…
YANDERE HSR ( THE NAMELESS ) x AEON OF CONTROL! READER
Tumblr media
These are moreso antics and headcannons rather than a proper sequel to the previous one so…
warnings: major canon divergences, soft yandere themes.
・❥・ You and Pompom mostly have the same duties mainly keeping the express clean, checking its stability, tending to visitors, etc.
・❥・ However you take more of a authoritative position with your duties.
・❥・ Though you created Pompom, they have no idea you are an Aeon. You kept it that way so that Pompom wouldn’t be too compelled to follow you when you diverge paths with the Nameless.
・❥・ You were the one that redressed March and taught her sewing when she arrived frozen one day. As such, she can be a tad too attached with you. Often flirting with you in front of the other crew members. (A fact that most of them hate)
・❥・ You know the photo wall she has in her room? Well in that gallery of hers she has a secret folder of just you. You doing your daily maintenance, you repairing Pompom’s stitches, you just b r e a t h i n g. Yeah.
・❥・ Dan Heng and you often spend hours together in the archive. You had the penchant of checking, and rechecking the organization of things. Your long periods of time together led to him feeling the most safe around you. You already knew of his secrets, but having him divulge it nonetheless still felt like being let into a state secret.
・❥・ Himeko has a suspicion you two aren’t related. In fact you have a feeling she already uncovered what you are. She is however, far too in love with trail blazing and being your sister that she doesn’t do anything to risk the status quo.
・❥・ Welt has the biggest love-hate relationship with you. You haven’t done anything bad per se. In addition to that, you’re the reason Himeko got to explore the stars, but memories of the past still haunt him. Each day he sees you handling the youngins edges him closer and closer to finally letting of go of his resentment.
・❥・ When Caelus isn’t dying inside by being close to you, he likes to be smug by showing how much “care” you put into him. Like the youngest child smirking at the older children as they get the most love and attention. Sometimes he gets himself injured on purpose to get your eyes on him and him alone.
・❥・ Unfortunately due to your presence destabilizing the Stellaron, you don’t get many chances to pamper the boy.
・❥・ Though you did give him a giant wearable trash-can, complete with breathability and protection against the elements.
・❥・ You also don’t go out much and prefer to watch over expeditions. You also make sure never to use your full power as to not alert other aeons aside from IX of your endeavors.
BONUS!
・❥・ Elio and Kafka vehemently worship you. The latter’s domination comes from your blessing.
・❥・ Though they aren’t aware that you took the shape of a human male since you are able to erase yourself from Elio’s scripts.
・❥・ Which leads to Kafka flirting with this handsome man not knowing he’s actually her god.

A lengthy ass-post about poly-shipping no one asked for
So I'm gonna go ahead and choose passive aggressive violence, in the form of an informative, lengthy as fuck post I think some folks need to read.
I won't be adding the post here, as I don't wish to direct potential harassment to the original poster (no matter how heinous I found a majority of the list), but if you're on twitter/"X", I'm sure you've seen a lengthy notepad list of RP "hot takes".
While I agreed with some of the points made, I feel it necessary to clarify some things, particularly about the points regarding polyamorous shipping.
If you don't want to read the blurb between here and the actual point list, just scroll down until you see green font.
Most know that I myself play a polyamorous character; I ship my character with other characters belonging to different players. I've been poly-ship for YEARS, so I feel I have some experience and can say some things about it.
Some points made in the "hot takes" list alluded to people using polyamorous shipping/multi-shipping as an excuse to just ERP and mess around with multiple people without consequence.
Sadly, yes, this does happen. It's unfortunate that selfish people only looking for specific things use it as an excuse for their behavior, but the only thing people can do is be aware of what to look out for when it comes to polyamorous shipping.
So rather than allow a negative light be painted on a valid means of shipping and roleplaying your characters in relationships, I think a quick lesson is needed.
Disclaimer: these are just my personal opinion on how I feel polyships should be handled, and some red flags I have seen during my time being a polyamorous OC player. By no means is this a rulebook, more like a guide so new and veteran roleplayers alike can be aware.
What a responsible poly-shipper will do:
Introduce you to their other partners - Communication is key in any relationship, this is not just for monogomous ships, but even moreso for polyamorous. A poly OC player will be open to introducing you to their other partners; while no one expects you to be best friends, it's good to be aware of just who else you'll possibly be regularly seeing around.
Share time and effort among your partners equally - A polycule relationship should be even across the board; one partner should not be treated better than the other. Treating one or more partners better than the other(s) is just a recipe for people getting hurt, both IC and OOC.
Be open and up front at the very beginning of IC interactions - A poly OC player will be up front and honest about the nature of their character if they have an interest in possibly shipping with you, or in case the possibility of it happening is there.
Encourage communication and prioritize problem-solving - This isn't just for poly ships, but ships in general. A good writing partner will encourage and WANT you to tell them about how you feel with the ship, especially if it's a problem with an easy solution.
Always make it known if they wish to bring another partner into the polycule & pose an introduction OOC - This is the most important part of being in a poly ship, making sure EVERYONE knows if there is someone new who will be joining the ship, and making introductions before a ship is made.
What a responsible poly ship player wouldn't/shouldn't do:
Hide the status of their ships - If your partner is hiding who they are shipping with from you, in my experience, this just means a person is going behind their partner's back (and is possibly cheating on them).
Brush off any possible issues you may be having with one of the partners in the ship - A responsible partner would aim to mediate the situation, and listen to all sides.
Discourage their poly partners from seeking other partners - Not every poly OC is monogomous with their poly partner, sometimes one poly OC will be shipped with another poly OC. Your partner would not expect you to drop your other ships to be with them while they continue their own, they should respect your decision to ship with your other partners.
Keep attempts to ship with other characters a secret - A responsible poly partner will make it known when they are attempting to or want to ship their OC with another as soon as intentions and wants are known. Not after a ship is already established.
Discourage those in the polycule ship from associating with each other - A partner in a healthy polycule would never discourage their partners from associating with each other; intentional separation more than likely is a means of hiding something, such as blatant favoritism, or even to keep ships a secret (in my experience).
Anyways I'll get off my soap box. I apologize for the lengthy post, but some things I've been seeing regarding this hot takes list were so blatantly heinous, I just felt like something should be said.
Have a good evening y'all; hug your pets, tell your friends you love them, and don't let jaded people online project their problems onto you.
Stay golden

It's really weird to think about how much Iruma changed Azz's life, and how he kind of saved him in a way??
Azz was a very talented kid growing up, so much so that other kids were intimidated by him to the point of not even approaching him. Hell, he didn't even have any adult role models, since his mother wasn't someone he looked up to and most of the other adults he interacted with worked for them. So he was essentially always "above" anyone he met for one reason or another.
Then he enters Babyls. At first, it's the same as always, he excels and impresses everyone, getting the title of top student on the entrance exam and getting to give a speech in the opening ceremony.
...Except he doesn't get to do that, actually. Turns out, the headmaster's grandson is going to give the speech (and this was seemingly decided at the last second). And what does this guy (who entered Babyls not by proving himself in the exam, but by simply being the headmaster's grandson) do? He flexes his magical abilities by saying an incredibly dangerous curse.
Who does this Iruma think he is, stealing Asmodeus's spot and having the nerve to act so proudly??? Naturally, he must challenge him to a duel to teach him a lesson and regain his status as the star student.
So they battle... Or Asmodeus does. Iruma just keeps dodging his attacks. This goes on for a while. Imagine being Azz, how insulting would it be to have a battle go on for like half an hour and not being able to land a single hit on your opponent? Even moreso since said opponent isn't attacking back?? I would've died
But anyway, it only takes Iruma one single move to knockout Asmodeus. If this had been between two normal demons, Azz would not have been able to live this down. But not only did Iruma carry him to the infirmary (which is probably a rare sign of kindness and respect for someone who won a duel in a single motion, especially in the netherworld), Azz now has someone to look up to.
After years of not even finding an equal because he's apparently so above anyone else, suddenly he has someone who's way above him. And hanging out and respecting Iruma opens the door to forming more meaningful relationships with equals. I think the best example of this is how, at first, he looks down on Clara, but spending time with her makes him realize that she's a wonderful person and he likes being with her!! He starts to talk casually with her and calling her by her first name, which means a lot from someone who values manners and formality as much as Azz.
Imagine if none of this had happened. If Asmodeus just ended up in the top class and still believed he was somehow better than everyone around him. We've seen how he started to stagnate when it comes to his rank in the original manga, so I can only picture him growing more stressed as it gets harder for him to go up the ranks and generally maintain this "young prodigy" image as he gets older. You know like gifted kid burnout but more literal because of the fire powers.
So no wonder he's obsessed, Iruma essentially gave him an ambition!

Synphot, Warrior Saiyan God of the Mind
Purveyor of Saiyan Law, truth, intelligence, strategy, logic, science and the arts
Younger brother to Soli and Tor
Older twin brother to Dees (God of the Body)
Name is a play on the word "photosynthesis"
The god who bestowed upon Saiyans the ability to strategize under extremely intense conditions, to absorb information at a rapid rate and to retain it with almost perfect recollection
Patron Saiyans: Gohan, Trunks and Tarble
Synphot was born when the first Saiyan stepped foot on Sadala (both in U6 and U7 worlds). While Soli was created from the universe's first light and her sister born from its darkness, Synphot and his younger brother Dees were born when Saiyans took their first breath.
He is generally seen in figures and statues on U6 and U7 as a god associated with the sciences and the arts. He is all about growth, survival, cultivating wisdom and honest truth. In U6, Synphot is invoked regarding artistic endeavors: writing, painting, etc. This is because in U6, Saiyans are allowed and encouraged to pursue the arts and sciences, while in U7, Saiyans consider the arts a fools affair. Only the Elite are afforded the luxury of enjoying the arts. Also in U7, due to the nature of the Soli-worshiping Saiyans that reside there, Southern Saiyans on Planet Vegeta will utilize Synphot as they partake in the arts moreso than their Northern breathern. A majority of the time in U7, Synphot is invoked regarding matters of battle strategy and political affairs, something that aligns with their Tor-based sensibilities.
In both universes, Synphot is regarded as a sort of moral force in Saiyan judicial systems. Saiyan politicians and strategists will call upon him for guidance before embarking upon political affairs. In courts, Synphot will be invoked by judges for guidance before beginning court. This is because Synphot regards truth and logic as the utmost important pieces of what makes a Saiyan great, even if the logic and the truth end up harming someone's feelings--something that U7 Saiyans have the penchant of doing. U6 Saiyans will hold back more, sans those who work in the law or are political strategists.
While Synphot is the purveyor of Saiyan arts and sciences, there is an aspect of the sciences he does not touch: medicine. That is the realm of his younger twin brother, Dees. His brother is extremely well versed when it comes to the matter of the Saiyan body, whereas Synphot is all about the Saiyan mind. He has a great relationship with his brother Dees, albeit he doesn't understand how happy and bubbly he can be--a personality so similar to his oldest sister, Soli.
In the Saiyan pantheon, while younger than his sisters, he is almost considered a wise older elder. Both Soli and Tor will come to him for guidance and advice, as he is so extremely logical, pragmatic and honest. He holds nothing back--a strength and a detriment. He doesn't know when he hurts someone's feelings, nor does he pick up on social cues from anyone. Emotions make zero sense to him. Logic rules over all when it comes to conflict.
He is extremely close to his younger twin brother, Dees. Unlike his older sisters and his younger brother, Synphot is not very strong physically. He has a condition where he grew older at a faster rate than his other siblings. While he will not die as he is a god, his condition has made him weaker than the others. He tries to not allow it to get to him, focusing more on his other powers, but as Saiyans are quite proud creatures and do put emphasis on strength, he feels like he cannot contribute much outside of general council to his siblings. Because of this, Dees ends up being his protector of sorts, something Synphot feels conflict over. He appreciates his younger brother caring for him this much, but he also feels like he should be able to be the stronger one, as he is the older twin.
His chosen patron Saiyans are Gohan, Trunks and Tarble. Of the three, Gohan is the most influenced by Synphot. Trunks, being part of the Vegeta family line, is more influenced by Tor. Tarble is the least influenced, being that he is Vegeta's younger brother, but Tor does not accept Tarble as one of her own but that of her brother. Synphot accepts Tarble as his, considering how logical Tarble can be, but he considers Gohan his "prodigy" of the three--the ideal logical Saiyan.

This is a scrap - and should be read as a criticism of the story telling moreso than of the (fictional) characters - but...
One of the results of Season 4 framing Adora as purely a victim of "crazy ex" Glimmer - Presenting it as if Glimmer was reacting to nothing, that Adora wasn't controlling or jealous or secretive - is that it deeply undercuts the idea that Adora treats Catra badly because She Just Doesn't Know Better.
If Adora treats Glimmer in the same (bad) ways she treated Catra, then it tells us she has flawed assumptions about what a "good" relationship looks like; that her behaviour (if not innocent) is at least sincere, and that she is continuing to apply bad models even in a situation where it does not benefit her(or anyone but Shadow Weaver). Having these models fail her would drive the character towards self-examination and personal growth.
But if Glimmer was the core problem in Season 4 - if Adora was nothing but supportive, even when the circumstances of her youth are recreated nearly 1-to-1 - then we're saying that Adora is already perfect, that actually she does know how to have normal, healthy relationships even under trying circumstances.
Tumblr media
Which makes her refusal to extend that care to Catra incredibly suspect. Does she think that Catra is uniquely unworthy of respect?
Tumblr media
Or does she just know that other people think Catra is unworthy of respect, and aren't going to say shit (especially when they still need She-Ra to save them)?
========================
Look, obviously none of this is the intended read; And fwiw, I think that at least the script of Season 4 actually does show Adora replicating her bad behaviours -
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
being high-handed, controlling, jealous of Glimmer's relationship with Shadow Weaver, and unhealthily invested in her role as The Hero -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then has those flaws drive personal growth - reflecting on if she is making things worse, recognizing that her idea of being A Hero is to be a weapon in someone else's hands and explicitly rejecting that -
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
but that this is undermined by the directorial lens overwhelmingly framing Glimmer as The Villain (and thus Adora as In The Right/The Victim/Smol Bean), and that this conflict drives these really ugly implications.
In absolving Adora, the story inadvertently validates her beliefs - even the ones that it set up as false and harmful. Which, yeah, creates the implication that Adora knows when she's acting badly, but just doesn't care (and that we shouldn't either). That her status as "Good" protects her from criticism, and allows her to cast any opposition as defacto "Bad" and not worthy of acknowledgment or examination.

Musing on Ancient Mugenri History
I've been thinking about this topic recently and there's a lot in my mind, so I thought to write it down before it starts fading lol.
To be clear, this is going to involve a lot of speculation, and not much is gonna be based on concrete proof, which is a rather great departure from what I usually prefer, but hey, speculation is fun every now then~
This is gonna be split into several parts, which I hope makes things neat enough. In any case, let's begin!
The People of Mugenri
Before we look into the general ancient history of Mugenri, let's take a quick look at what the residents of Mugenri could've been like in the distant past.
Canon Information
First, let's start with the history of its population. Here, we look at these this line from A World That Isn't Fantasy — To Mugenri:
Hoojiro "Another world….. A land of a race that broke off from mankind long, long ago."
Haru immediately recognises this as referencing the "Land of Non-humans", which Tsubakura had apparently been looking into prior to being spirited away.
This land is generally accepted to refer to Mugenri, and this is the assumption I will be going off of here as well.
Additionally, let's also take a look at this bit of information from the 2021 Interview with JynX.
Characters (BPoHC) — Question 242 Q: Considering that God is moreso a qualification rather than a species, are Yago and Souko's longevity thanks to their original species rather than their status as a god? Does becoming a god even grant you new abilities? A: They both gained their longevity after becoming gods and were originally human-like.
Interpretation
Putting these two together, I propose the following: Mugenri was initially inhabited by a "primordial race", the very human-like race that Yago and Souko belonged to prior to their ascension to godhood.
Somewhere a long the way, this original race split into "humans" and "non-humans", who once co-existed peacefully but had a fall-out of some sorts.
This lead to the event Hoojiro described, the non-humans "breaking off" from the humans and settling in Mugenri, creating the "Land of Non-humans"
Caveats
There are, I think, 2 major caveats to this idea:
I'm making an assumption that the non-humans "breaking off" from the humans applies to both their evolutionary path as well as the relationship between the two.
There's nothing explicitly connecting the "human-like" race and the modern humans and non-humans.
Mugenri's Ancient History
This is where we get really speculative, as all I really have to go on are these names from BotC Back Issue EE Yabusame's Route - Stage 1:
Gods' Tabooed Land
Garden of Eden
Lost Horizon
Oppressed Land of Exile
It should absolutely be noted NiLU suggests that not all of these names originally referred to Mugenri, but that they only got conflated with Mugenri later down the line.
Nevertheless, they're helpful for taking a glimpse into Mugenri's nature. So, let's try to piece a timeline together using these names.
Step 0. Gods' Tabooed Land
"Tabooed Land" is a concept from Shinto that refers to a location said to be reserved for the gods and within which humans are forbidden, often believed to be where the gods descended to and from earth.
Admittedly, I'm unsure whether this step would be placed here or further down, hence "step 0".
If we were to place this here, this would refer to when the gods first descended to earth and started their work, landing in what would become Mugenri and creating "human-like" beings to inhabit it.
Step 1. Garden of Eden
This of course refers to the biblical paradise mentioned in Abrahamic religions where the first humans Adam and Eve once lived before being exiled by God for eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
It's a rather safe bet to place as the first stage of Mugenri, as it is where humanity originated. Paralleling, in the case of Len'en, Mugenri being where the human-like primordial race came from.
It would also be during this period that Yago Ametsukana ascended to godhood, and perhaps Souko Shirami as well, though I'm have less proof for that one outside of the two gods' basis sharing a similar time period in the irl myths.
I would guess that somewhere along the way, whether they have already speciated into human and non-humans aside, the original inhabitants of Mugenri got themselves exiled from Mugenri.
Fondly remembering the paradisical life they used to lead in Mugenri, and lamenting its lost, the land eventually became known as, or equated with, the name "Garden of Eden".
Side Note — Yago's Ascension You might be curious as to why I'm so sure that Yago's ascension is so likely to have taken place in this stage, even specifically before the residents got exiled. This comes from a spell card of theirs, Sword Shot "The Cherubim and the Whirling Sword of Flame". This spell references what the Abrahamic God sent to guard the Garden of Eden after Adam and Eve's exile. Thus, Yago having this spell card quite heavily suggests that it was the Ametsukana who forged the "whirling sword of flame" and sent it with the cherubim to guard the garden.
Step 2A. Lost Horizon
Lost Horizon is a 1933 novel by English writer James Hilton, famous for being the origin of Shangri-La, a fictional utopian lamasery.
Having been banished from Mugenri, and as the time passed, it's not beyond belief that the people (especially the humans) would've forgotten where Mugenri was once located, rending a truly lost location from their perspective.
It is also during this phase, I would guess, that the two categories of humans and non-humans must have came to be, no later than this. Explanation to come later.
Step 2B. Gods' Tabooed Land
Yep, the "Gods' Tabooed Land" returns once again. For those who did not forget Mugenri, where it was and its history; or perhaps from the gods' own perspective, Mugenri isn't "lost" at all, it's right there!
Instead, these people would've understood Mugenri as a place now exclusively belonging to the gods, and where humans especially are not allowed to enter.
(After all, while the line between human and god is fairly clear, that between youkai and god is often less so.)
Step 3. Oppressed Land of Exile
Unlike the other names, this one doesn't seem to be a reference of any sort, but is just a simple description of the land.
It is during this time period that I propose the "breaking off" between humans and non-humans must've occurred. For whatever reason, the two races were no longer able to peacefully co-exist.
This lead to the non-humans returning to Mugenri (like I mentioned, it's a lot more likely for them to know where it is after all this time). There, they either locked themselves within to cut all possible contact with the humans or they got locked within by the humans.
Having been exiled from the outside world, the inhabitants of Mugenri started a new era of their lives, adopting the Ruri calendar. "Ruri" meaning "exile", further strengthening this idea.
Side Note I've been using "Mugenri" to refer to this location this entire time, but it only makes sense to assume that this name isn't always what it was called. In fact, I think it's rather likely that it was only used after the barrier was created and a separate world formed. Here, I'll use "Ruri Mugenri", named after its Ruri calendar, to denote specifically the Mugenri as we know it now, separated from the outside by the barrier.
The "exiled non-humans" theory does raise a curious question though: Why are there also humans in Ruri Mugenri?
Of course, this could be explained simply by the fact that humans occasionally wander into Mugenri, but I get the impression that humans have always been in the Ruri Mugenri from the very beginning.
There are, in my opinion, three ways we can explain this:
These early humans were sympathizers to the non-humans, and in solidarity joined them in their self-imposed exile.
These early humans were those who sacrificed their own freedom to forever trap the non-humans in Mugenri.
These early humans were not interested in the race conflict, but was simply hoping to start anew or escape the outside world.
Personally, I would imagine that all these cases could be found, though I'd like to focus on the 2nd option. Because this, I believe, is the origin of the Senri Shrine.
We know that the 1st Senri priest was among those who created the Mugenri Barrier, and considering their successor, Tsurubami Senri's, stance towards youkai, it's not hard to see how I came to this conclusion.
Additionally, this also answers the question of whether the non-humans willingly shut themselves in Mugenri or were trapped in there by the humans.
This idea is somewhat supported by this from the 2021 Interview with JynX:
Mugenri — Question 86 Q: Can you think of Mugenri as a trap or prison, maybe a birdcage? Why else would it be so easy to get in but extremely difficult to get out? A: Something like that. The details are secret~.
Unhelpful JynX aside (lol), they did agree, to some extent, that Mugenri is a trap or a prison, further strengthening the idea that the non-humans aren't exactly willing participants.
The Human/Non-human Conflict
Finally, let's take a quick look at what could've caused this conflict between the two sides in the first place. I have a few theories, so let's go into that here.
First off, there's always the good old human fear of the unknown and the different, the easiest and most typical explanation for these situations and plots.
Perhaps the humans gradually grew more and more intolerant of the non-humans, and eventually took to taking up arms against them, leading to this conflict.
Of course, it's frankly hard to believe that these primeval humans would've been able to fight against the myriad of youkai and other non-humans all by themselves.
Here I suggest that the humans weren't alone, but were instead supported by a certain subset of gods. To see where this idea comes from, let's revisit A World That Isn't Fantasy, this time looking at Alice Leaping Atop Lily Pad Ice.
Hoojiro "Have you ever heard of it? The story of the imperial family and the Earthly Gods buried by history's darkness."
This is, at first glance, seemingly just a throwaway line. Hoojiro brings it up out of nowhere, and Haru quickly brushes her aside.
But even ignoring why Hoojiro brought it up, from an out-of-universe perspective, this line is far too loaded to be nothing, especially from a writer like JynX.
From an in-universe perspective, Hoojiro then follows this up with the talk on the Land of Non-humans in the next section, To Mugenri. This, to me at least, seems to hint that these two must be related somehow.
After all, Tsubakura was looking into the Land of Non-humans, and Hoojiro would've certainly had a good idea of everything they looked into and found.
So! Let's try to figure out what this is about.
First off, I'll tell you right now that this is referring to the mythologised telling of how the Yamato dynasty of Japan came to rule over these islands.
See the imperial family of Japan, according to their mythology, is descendant from Amaterasu Ōmikami, a sun goddess. She is what is considered a "heavenly god" (天津神 amatsukami), gods belonging to or originating from the heavenly realm of Takamagahara.
The counterpart to these heavenly gods are thus the "earthly gods" (国津神 kunitsukami), the native gods of the earth. They were the original rulers of the land (Japan), and it was through both diplomacy and force that the heavenly gods got the earthly gods to relinquish control of the earth to them.
This, I am certain, is the "story of the imperial family and the Earthly Gods", Hoojiro refers to. And I have a feeling that this is what caused the relationship between the humans and non-humans to sour.
Basing it on the myths, it would appear that the heavenly gods chose, for whatever reason, to side with the humans in the conflict, allowing them claim the world as their own.
Having identified the heavenly gods with the humans, this would leave the earthly gods with the non-humans, neither of whom fared very well in this exchange, and were forced to submit before the heavenly gods and their humans.
Thus the losers of this conflict, the earthly gods and non-humans, were "exiled" from the known world, put into an almost mirror-dimension-like plane of existence, their only way back out into the greater world through the outside, the Land of the Humans.
Note — Too Harsh on the Humans? History is written by the victors, or in this case, the imprisoned losers. All the sources we have so far are fairly Ruri Mugenri-centric, even those from outside. There is every chance that the humans were somewhat justified in their attack on the non-humans at first, perhaps the non-humans first took over and oppressed them, much like how the earthly gods were the original rulers of Japan. If this were true, that it'd be rather easy to see why the heavenly gods sided with the humans, perhaps out of pity, or a desire to use them to eliminate a common enemy.
Ending
Phew! That was a lot, wasn't it?
But this indeed concludes my thoughts on what the hypothetical ancient history of the land of Mugenri might be like, from it's initial inception to the establishment of Ruri Mugenri.
Like I mentioned at the beginning, a lot more guesswork and speculation this time, so its canonicity is very doubtful. Still, I think it's at least plausible.
As usual, I hope you enjoyed it~! :)

It’s been so long since I’ve heard of Ranma 1/2… Can we get more Ranma fighting technique analysis? Or Ryoga? Honestly I’d be surprised if Ryoga was able to make it to the tournament without getting lost.
Hoo boy. I would need to go back and spend a lot of time with the manga for that. It's been a long time since I've thought about Ranma 1/2 too.
There was a time when Ranma 1/2 was a really important series to me. It was the first anime I ever watched that wasn't being broadcast on a TV channel. My cousin was a big anime nerd and went to conventions and stuff, and he brought over a DVD with the first few episodes of Ranma 1/2 to show me.
I was hooked. I watched the anime. I read the manga. I tried to find the video games. I was all over this series. As a kid, my favorite characters were Nabiki Tendo and Ukyo Kuonji. Nabiki was the character I saw the most of myself in, while Ukyo was the one I sympathized with and wanted to see win the harem plot.
Which was never gonna happen, of course. Ranma 1/2 was a harem plot the same way love triangles are triangles. The show features a clear and obvious romance subplot between Ranma and Akane, and all the other characters are third wheels who are here to make comical shenanigans happen and get in the way. It doesn't even pretend otherwise; Akane is the only suitor that Ranma's ever shown having feelings for.
I don't know if that's typical of harem plots; I never got into the genre. But it's clear from her writing that Rumiko Takahashi was more interested in using the harem setup as a foundation to throw wacky characters into slapstick shenanigans than in exploring their relationships with one another in any amount of detail. It's a comedy, much moreso than a romance.
But when it is a romance, it's only ever about Akane.
I don't remember if it was the anime or manga, but I remember there was one plot where Akane trades her engagement with Ranma to Nabiki. As a kid, that was my favorite; I was so upset when they reverted to status quo because I fell instantly in love with Nabiki/Ranma as a ship as soon as the plot suggested it.
As an adult looking back, I'm less fond of it. Nabiki's main role in the story is capitalizing Ranma's harassment, doing things like taking compromising photos of him to sell to his stalkers. She and Haruhi Suzumiya would get along well. Selling Ranma to Nabiki in an arranged marriage for real would be super gross, actually.
But I was like 12 when I first discovered this series and didn't know better.
So. Yeah. This series was a major part of my childhood and still holds a special place in my heart. But it's been a long time since I've thought about it in any significant detail. I'd need to read back through it before I'd be able to provide any significant analysis of it.

Some Thoughts on Mitsuhide + Aromanticism in Media and Reality
Major spoilers for Chapters 92 and onwards of the Akagami no Shirayukihime manga ahead!
Tumblr media
When I first got into the AnS fandom, I kept hearing about some big manga!plot decision that had made some fans completely abandon the manga, so disappointed were they. I did my best to avoid spoilers so I didn't know what this event was for the longest time. Now, being caught up to that storyline and thensome, I know what that event was - and can say that I was a bit surprised when I remembered that it had upset people so badly.
Tumblr media
Yes, Mitsuhide rejected Kiki's proposition of marriage, and she opted to marry Hisame instead. It was, apparently, clearly hinted at that Kiki and Mitsuhide were in love all this time, and it was cruel of him to reject her when she cared about him so deeply - right?
Well...maybe not.
I write this as an aro/ace person, and I'm going to be examining Mitsuhide's character through an aro/ace lens, too. I have talked plenty about how AnS has some great, positive representation in its characters, and Mitsuhide is no different. In fact, I relate to his experience quite a bit.
Mitsuhide is often teased, from the very beginning, for being "in love" with Zen. He shows no interest in anyone else other than Zen, outside of what seem like only platonic friendships, but his loyalty is solely to the Prince.
Except, it appears, for Kiki Seiran.
Tumblr media
Their first interaction is yet another source of jokes; Mitsuhide mistakes her for a boy. And when the current story begins, the two are already always together as the Prince’s trusted aides. It's the perfect set up for a love story, even moreso when Hisame is introduced: the man initially so desperate to improve his social status and have Kiki's hand that he offers to fight her for it - and Mitsuhide steps in and saves the day. It's romantic, it's satisfying, it's...not all that it seems.
First, let me preface all this by saying that I will never go out of my way to tell others what they can and cannot "ship" or "headcanon". It is absolutely possible for this sort of plot to eventually devolve into a friends to lovers scenario.  And, had it not been for Mitsuhide's blatant "coming out" to Zen and his rejection of Kiki's proposal in Ch. 92, it might have turned into this. But to me, it would be incredibly disrespectful to Mitsuhide as a character to berate him for "not marrying Kiki" when he explictly tells Zen in Ch. 98, after chapters of soul-searching, that he is not interested in marriage - with Kiki or anyone else for that matter.
Tumblr media
Mitsuhide turns Kiki down the first time by saying that he wants to wait till Zen himself is married and living his own path, and that as Kiki is so close to the Prince and is so trusted a friend, it would be impossible and downright strange for him to consider wedding her. It doesn't help that since Kiki is on a deadline to marry, Mitsuhide is put in a position where he must immediately choose the path he wishes to take. I definitely feel here for Kiki, who has by her own admission harboured feelings for Mitsuhide for years now (feelings he never caught onto - #justacethings!), only to be told in no uncertain terms that he cannot reciprocate them.
Tumblr media
I empathized a great deal, as an aspec person, with Mitsuhide's first confession here. Growing up aroace in a world dominated by amatonormativity, I was told indirectly or otherwise that there was something "wrong" with me, and that my priorities - work, friendships, family, hobbies - would one day come second to an important intimate relationship. Since that never happened for me, I just assumed, as Mitsuhide did, that I was waiting for something in my life to settle down before I dated: till I was done school, for instance. Or, when my teenage relationships inevitably failed, they just "weren't the one" or it was a situation of me being "not ready". Never did it enter my mind that I could tell someone (or even myself) that I would never date or marry at all, and I wonder if this concern ever crossed Mitsuhide's mind, too, when he withheld some details from Kiki in his first conversation with her about the matter.
Tumblr media
When Hisame and Mitsuhide speak about what transpired with Kiki in that discussion, Hisame senses that Mitsuhide was not completely honest with her about his true feelings. Although Mitsuhide is understandably angry by this accusation, he nevertheless does not deny it - and eventually speaks to Kiki again to clarify that it is not just her he is rejecting, but everyone and anyone else who may propose to him in the future. This he says in no uncertain terms; his oath is to protect and serve Prince Zen, and this he holds above all else, marriage included. At last, he is able to put his feelings on the table and be honest with others and himself: he does not want to marry, he wants to remain at Zen's side.
Tumblr media
Those on the aromantic and/or asexual spectrum are often told, through popular media or directly by family and friends, that an intimate romantic relationship should be prioritized above all else. Relationships are all about compromise, about changing your immediate desires when it means letting your partner be happy, so that everyone "wins". This is a very amatormative way of viewing things. What happens when your priorities and values do not work when a relationship is involved?
For me, my priorities are my hobbies, my dog, volunteering, my close friends, and maintaining my health. I can think of nothing worse than having to change any of those values or even alter them to allow for another person in my life - one with whom I'd be expected to intimately share my space and time with, at that. It seems this is what Mitsuhide feels, too: marriage would interfere with his sworn duty to protect Prince Zen, and this for him is his highest priority. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that! He seems perfectly content with doing so...until, of course, he confides all this in Zen.
There is quite a humourous post on Mitsuhide's "coming out as aroace" to Zen here on Tumblr already, but on a more solemn note, this is a similar reaction (at least, the core themes) as I got when I first came out to close family. I was just "not ready to be with someone" and "hadn’t met the right person". I needed to "grow up and try harder", and "one day I would want to find someone to marry".
Tumblr media
Although Zen’s motive for scolding Mitsuhide is rooted moreso in not wanting him to give up his life and wellbeing for Zen's own sake, there is a genuine confusion and shock in the Prince’s words to his aide: what will Mitsuhide do if he gets other proposals? Is he just waiting to see if he'll change his mind? It is very difficult at first for Zen to understand the gravity and finality of what Mitsuhide is saying, and this is often the case with many aroace people: the "you will change your mind one day" line.
But so what if I don't?
I found Zen's emotional response, and Mitsuhide's equally emotional reaction, quite moving as the two grew to understand each other's thoughts and feelings on the issue. It certainly did not help that Mitsuhide was still reeling from the trauma of the Bergatt affair, and I sense that Zen suspected Mitsuhide's reasoning and fierce desire to protect him was based on that experience. And, to some degree, it might be! But again, the idea that trauma is at the heart of someone's "choice" to be aro/ace is not an uncommon one, but it is a hurtful one, and one that undermines the feelings and values of the person who is coming out. I am not aroace because I was traumatized, I am aroace because that is who I am. Mitsuhide might be more inclined to protect Prince Zen because of his fear of being unable to do so, but that is a separate matter from his desire to never marry.
And for Kiki, who so openly admitted her true feelings and desire to be with Mitsuhide only to be turned down? As I wrote earlier, I truly feel for her; it was by no means easy for her to be rejected not once but twice, regardless of the reasons. But as hard as it may be to accept, she is not owed Mitsuhide's romantic attraction or his hand in marriage; she is owed his honesty and respect, yes, but he cannot simply "change" and fall in love with her. It cannot and does not work that way in reality.
Tumblr media
Mitsuhide's rejection of her romantic proposal also presents a rarely-explored (and rarely well portrayed) concept: a purely platonic friendship between a man and a woman, built on love and mutual respect. Friendship of any gender is usually pushed aside in favour of romance; to see a strong, solid friendship prioritized over a forced relationship is both pleasantly surprising and deeply admirable. Everything Mitsuhide tells Kiki sounds as what one might tell a platonic friend of the same gender in any other amatormative media piece - I love you, I respect you, I enjoy working with you, but I am not in love with you.
Tumblr media
I have always had deep respect for the way love has been portrayed in AnS, and I was so excited to see aromanticism and asexuality depicted, too. Having a character reject a relationship in favour of remaining single for its own sake and to say true to his values is almost unheard of in popular media; asexuality is typically portrayed as a condition in need of treating, or one that the "right person" can "fix". Mitsuhide, mercifully, is not portrayed in this way. Zen's initial reaction is, of course, quite heated - his shock is understandable if it is not justifiable, and even if it hurt to read, it is a fairly accurate depiction of some common misconceptions about aromanticism/asexuality.
And in the end, after all, Zen (and Kiki, and Shirayuki, and Obi) come to understand and respect Mitshuide the way he is - as it should be.

Amatonormativity: the assumption that everyone desires and strives for a romantic relationship.

If You'll Be My Star, I'll Be Your Sky
minos prime general relationship headcanons
x reader content (read platonic or romantic)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
- King Minos was more than familiar with the inhabitants of his layer of hell, though he could not recall them all by name one eventually gets to know the type of souls that arrive in their domain. you were just another of his subjects. - you were a strong supporter of his reform of Lust, frequenting his side and offering both ideas and challenges to his own. being a denizen of Lust didn't cloud your judgement, you were aware of the looming threat of Heaven, but it was him who quieted your worry, reminded you to enjoy the boons of your good work - your dynamic was unique to any he had the pleasure (or displeasure, this was Hell) of meeting. his stern judgement often led others to appreciate his work from afar, he was respected but had yet to meet someone who would challenge him like you - arguments with him tend to last for a while, he struggles with finishing an argument when he percieves his view to be correct, he also isn't quick to forgive misdoings or hurt feelings - he frequently uses physical touch in conversation, wether it be a hand on your shoulder or forearm, it isn't a conscious choice but if you are made uncomfortable by it he is quick to refrain - while his duties often keep him busy he passes most of his free time he has with poetry, both writing and reading it. a shared past time of you two is poetry reading, his voice very suited to the medium and appealing to the ear - he is a very honest person and expects the same from those around him, he would much rather solve conflict when it arisis rather than letting feelings fester - he isn't overly affectionate around others, moreso because of his station than ego. he is unashamed in his appreciation for those close to him however he is unwavering in his focus on his duties - yes you can pet the snakes - he appreciates someone who can spend time in his company without distracting him from his duties, busying yourselves with separate silent activities while sharing the same space allows him to be both productive and appreciate your company - immaturity will find itself poor company in his presence, he prefers association with those with emotional intelligence and conversational skills. he himself is an amazing conversationalist due to his vast knowledge and presence, you will find both serious and lighthearted topics flow with an ease you won't find elsewhere - much about his personality changes after his fall to Gabriel, a certain lightheartedness about himself is lost after seeing the effect his death had on both you and his people. he is somewhat distant in his prescence with you, often you catch him lost in thought - when he finds himself lucid he keeps close to your side, a palpable sense of fear over your wellbeing and a newfound insecurity over his ability to protect you when he was unable to so when he was most needed - while he appreciates any attempt at lessening his worries, he fears only time will quiet his mind. in the mean time, if you would humor him verbalising his insecurities and reassure him it would be greatly appreciated- he feels as if you are the only person left to speak on his worth, he wouldn't dare show his face to his people again - over time he does find the sweetness of domestic mundanity to be to his liking, he would never speak ill of his time presiding over Lust, but he finds a weight off his back when he is allowed to simply exist, free from the burden of status

MINORS DO NOT INTERACT. I BEG OF YOU.
Many exalted the drowsy general’s prowess and leadership across the Xianzhou Alliance. Under his rule, the Luofu Flagship developed into a powerhouse that petrified those who heard its name. An infamous red line that warned against those that sought immortality. A blade that stuck right next your jugular in case you dare so moved in a direction they do not want you to.
This general was hundreds of years your junior but had already accomplished far more than you have. That fact was the second biggest slap to the face.
The actual, most damaging slap was his patronizing attitude towards you.
How were you supposed to rise above your station and prove your worth as a knight when he assigned you as his measly bodyguard? It wasn’t as if it was a quiet career really, the man faced dozens of attempts at his life on a daily. It was moreso the fact that he never let you do your job in the first place.
You spent decades just standing around while he swung his massive sword at intruders before you could even blink. Somehow, the lousy man moved faster when defending you rather than with his own duties. It was as if he was the body guard not you.
Not to mention the perverse stares. You weren’t dense. You could feel his bedroom eyes from miles away, taking off the heavy armor you wore to work and leaving you bare. You felt like a lamb, or a tender piece of steak on a platter — and he, the most insatiable man alive.
Hundreds of years training — wasted, spent on being a trophy for him.
If remaining close to the master that misused you for several decades was bad enough, having to interact with him was like hell on earth. He was a vice, a poison molded into the shape of a man. One that could kill you in a instant, but looked oh so tempting. Only the heavens knew how you were resisted his charms for so long.
“Yes, my general? How may I be of assistance?” Your voice and words held a cordial, cold tone to it. If your employer could not bring a semblance of professionalism into the table, then you would tenfold. If he always closed in the distance between you two, you in turn would step further away in your relationship or whatever one might call this thing between the two of you was.
Despite your frigid temperament, Jing Yuan does not flinch nor back down. His eyes trained on a star-chess piece as he twirled it around. “I think it is about time we quell any sort of . . . resentment you have towards me is all.”
You had to give it to him. Jing Yuan was one of the most attractive people you’ve ever bared witness to. At nights like these where his mane of a hair was let down, giving him a relaxed and playful look, it was hard not to stare. “Pardon, my general?”
“You have no need to give me false face, [Y/N]. I know of your doubts and qualms. You see me unfit to continue being General. That I am incompetent, lazy. That I do not let you do a job you feel you are overqualified to even be in.” He listed off before carefully placing the star-chess piece down. His eyes then abruptly flicked to you, creating eye-contact and in turn, chills.
You are rendered speechless. How had he known? You had been so terribly careful. Never spouting about what you thought. Never even writing down such things. You knew better than to show your treacherous feelings outside of the seat of divine foresight, much less within.
So how, how did this wretched man know?
The General smirked as your hands tightened around your spear. “Why so shy all of a sudden, little warrior? Do not worry. I have a feeling you’ll quite enjoy what I have in store for you.”
“Come here.” He patted his lap.
And you quickly realized what was happening here.
Your whole career was a waiting game really. Each day you could only pray that the General had enough self-control not to take you. It seemed that today was the day all restraints were taken off.
Now, you could only pray for things to be swiftly over, or heavens forbid for him to not enjoy it so that it won’t happen again in the future.
Jing Yuan had long planned for this moment. What order he’d take off each piece of armor, how he’d do it, and every step following that. He was more meticulous in the way he’d have his time with you than anything else in his life.
Never did he put this much effort into anything. Not his studies nor training. He had to give it to you. You were right. He didn’t fully devote himself into playing General. How could he when he was already fully devoting himself to you?
“Perhaps little warrior was a wrong title for me to give you. With how drenched these are, wouldn’t little whore be better, hm?” Your skin, no matter what imperfections it may have, looked immaculate to his eyes. It was something Jing Yuan daydreamed about for hours on end and you did not disappoint. He should have done this sooner, he thought. Too bad it had to take a certain trigger for all his control to diminish.
His wasted no time when grabbing your cock. It was semi soft, though you didn’t want him this way your hormones said otherwise. He doesn’t falter for one second even after knowing so, predicting that its state would change once he began stimulating it. “My General, please — ngh — cease this at one.”
You legs kept moving around, either in pleasure or in a last ditch attempt at resisting, you didn’t know. Your body was moving on sheer instinct. Flight or fight mixing with euphoria. Fear and relief clashing against one another. It had been months since you last touched yourself. As a being close to a thousand years of age, your libido had long fizzled out. Or so you thought.
“You really are in need of a wake up call.”
Jing Yuan remained silent for the couple of minutes it took you to finally ejaculate. As the thick white liquid left your member, so did the remaining will to resist.
“I am your ruler.”
Jing Yuan suddenly stood up, causing you to fall forward unto his desk. Your chrysanthemum presented itself for him.
“My word is law.”
His left hands slid from your lower back to your shoulder as his right aligned his cock. You dare not look back to witness his size.
You hear the sound of a bottle being opened and of squelching while Jing Yuan covered himself in lubricant. He almost spends an entire minute just touching himself to your naked back. A sight he thought would only remain a mirage, a phantasm he will never see come to light.
“My desire will be met.”
But alas, you are here. Though he could easily reach climax just masturbating to this magnificent view, a taste was what this entire endeavor’s reason for occurring.
“And long have I waited for this moment to have you in my hands, Senior.”
He enters. Not gentle in the slightest. And to both your surprise he cums right there, not even lasting a second within you. Regardless of the surprise and sudden intrusion, you do not miss the way he addressed you.
A flood of memories fills your mind. “Xiao Yuan . . ?”
You do not get to think too much about it however, as Jing Yuan quickly regained his erection and began fucking your hole. Groaning loudly at your tightness which came as a result of your surprise. He picks you up by your arms and pressed your back to his chest.
“You finally remembered me, have you? But alas, catching up will have to wait. We have an audience waiting for the real show to begin.” He tilted his head away and looked beyond your form.
The guards — those who thought were your friends — that were stationed there weren’t dismissed. They were watching the whole time you were being jerked off and reached climax. Their eyes were glued to how Jing Yuan’s cock would disappear into your little hole, ears peeled to the lewd sounds of squelching, slapping and mewling, you bet that behind those helmets they were drooling over your misery.
But you didn’t feel an inch of anger at them at all, only at the man that forced you into this wicked situation in the first place.
“You lunatic—“ You yelled, but you do not move away, thrash or form any attempts at escape.
“Lunatic? No no, just authoritarian. A leader needs to assert himself in the face of . . . those who daringly gaze at my belonging. All while they’re stripped bare for me to partake in. If anything those lowly soldiers are the perverts are they not?” He paused from his thrusts, and you are ashamed to know that you made a small whine of disappointment at his lack of movement. He chuckled at your response before his face turned cold.
Golden eyes dripped in apathy as he commanded to everyone else in the room. “Helmets off.”
“Yes, general!” They all nodded in unison. No hesitation whatsoever.
“Look straight into their eyes, little warrior.” But who were you to judge when all you do to his commands were to follow blindly as well? You faced your comrades, you’re almost thankful for your arousal clouding your brain and stopping it from feeling too much shame and disgust. They stare right back. Eyes burning with lust and excitement.
Once he is assured of your eye-contact, Jing Yuan began pounding your ass again, this time he was somehow much more harsh than he was at the beginning. “Ngh — !”
“See all of them? These people would kill to be in my place right now. They’d beg for just a drop of your essence. And here you are, taking my cock like the good little warrior you are. Milking me for all I’m worth. Aren’t you greedy for me? Hahaha!” It doesn’t take Jing Yuan long to get jealous. Just several seconds later he shoves you forward and back unto his desk, forcing you to face somewhere else and your attention back to only the way his cock rearranged your insides and hiding the way your hole took him. His hand running itself through your hair, tugging once or twice every minute.
He leaned forward, thus allowing his voice to reach your ears and your ears alone, and his member to reach even further inside you. “Want more of my cum, [Y/N]? Tell me. Order me.”
“Give me - ah - more of your cum, you - ah - bastard!” You screamed, grabbing ahold of one of his scrolls and unintentionally breaking via the strength of your grip.
Your wish is his command.
Jing Yuan doesn’t slow down or stop as his cum filled you up. He wanted to make sure every corner of your hole was covered with him, that every spurt of his seed would decorate your rectum and make it its home.
“Satisfied with your general now, soldier?” He asked, his hips now slowly stuttered to a stop.
You do not reply, only panting in exhaustion. He does not part with you for a moment when he gave his command.
“Qingzu. Send this recording to Tingyun, then execute the rest.”
Your shock and terror overshadowed the doom of all your friends.
“Yes, my General.”
You only realized the weight of it all when he turned you around for an embrace. His genital already ‘recovering’ and almost ready for another round.
“How would you like their eyes served to you, hm? In preserve jars . . .
Or on a platter?”
Tumblr media
Inside the void of space. Of the stars, the planets. The cradle of creation and dreams. You hear the sly voice of a man you once knew.
“What a pervert you are, reading a smutty story of that General from Xianzhou.”
What was his name again? Sam . . . Samuel . . . ?
“Sooo ~ did you enjoy it? Did you have fun?”
Sampo. Sampo Koski.
“ . . . What ?”
Yes, Sampo, your fellow actor. How could you forget? The support to your lead. The guy who always had your back.
“Oh my, you seem a little disoriented.“
In the cold embrace of the void, Sampo’s hands almost felt hot when he placed it upon your cheeks.
“Not to worry, dear friend! I’ll fix you right back up again. Can’t have our main actor ill-prepared for their next show, do we?”
And the curtain opens, revealing a sea of white.

Coming out of my self-imposed OFMD takes exile to not only again renounce my old take that somehow blew up but particularly to push back against the idea of Izzy specifically wanting Ed at his worst.
Because we actually have canon evidence to the contrary; canon lines and dynamics very strongly leading to a different conclusion.
The only character who might want Ed at his worst is Calico Fuckin Jack.
Calico Jack is the one who reacts with disgust at the idea of Ed being called by his name instead of Blackbeard or Blackie. Jack represents the idea of Piracy as Abuse as a consciously embraced lifestyle.
Izzy is the one who is aghast at anyone other than himself calling Ed by his name. We know that it's because he is acutely aware of what it could do to Ed's reputation; what that would do to Ed's safety. Izzy is someone who has endured and survived Piracy as Abuse, who knows it is Abuse and knows it is dangerous, and is fighting like hell to keep himself and the man he loves safe from being on the receiving end.
Izzy is not against Ed's softness per se; he's moreso against that softness being open. Which makes sense, because in all of his and Ed's experiences thus far, open softness is asking for violence and manipulation. To Izzy, Stede isn't just a Homewrecker, he's luring Ed out into a clearing to be shot at.
Izzy calls Ed by his name. Rarely does he call him "captain" or "blackbeard" when it's just the 2 of them. What he and Ed had is not what Ed and Calico Jack had; there was connection there; there was some level of vulnerability. And as first mate, Izzy wants to protect his captain's vulnerability; as someone p evidently in love with Ed, he also wants to guard this intimacy.
His reaction to Lucius and Black Pete hooking up is, as we should all hopefully realize by now, not one of straught up homophobic disgust. I do think it's in part due to repression, but a lot of it, imo, is that, well. Let's pull up Calico Jack again. From what he says, it's implied that pirate hookups are rather common, and that they rarely if ever involve emotional attachment. But look at how much Izzy bristles when Stede and Ed are affectionate immediately after the years he has spent at Ed's side.
What Izzy and Ed have is, to Izzy, Special. And to be Special it needs to be private. It can't come before maintaining their place in the system. Lucius and Pete have sex when they should be working, and later Lucius states that they don't belong to each other.
To put that in Izzy's perspective, that's 2 men on this crew embracing an ownerless sexual freedom of piracy without the emotional guardedness; they are also pursuing emotional attachment out in the open. And to Izzy, that is dangerous. This crew is going to get themselves killed. And His Captain will be with them.
I've gotten. A lot more attached to Izzy, the more I've sat with the show, bc I know what it's like to internalize an abusive system and focus more on following rules and keeping the ones you love with you on top; to be, to a point, perpetuating the system, but also largely unable to affect change beyond your circle, and to be acutely aware of this.
None of that to dismiss , of course, that Izzy takes it upon himself to do what's best for Ed without Ed's opinion; that he sends Calico Jack to manipulate Ed's vulnerability; to do exactly what he worries will happen, just, this time, to his own ends. Not to dismiss any of it, just to, like, inform it.
Like I said, I renounce that first big meta I did that somehow blew up. It was a very shallow reading of the show and it missed a lot of nuance, especially when it comes to Ed as a man of color whose two defining relationships in the show are with white men who think they know what's best for him.
What draws Ed to Stede is in no small part that Stede doesn't hide his softness; that he has incorporated it into his "pirating style". He balks in the face of the status quo, he has the arrogance to assume he can affect change on this culture of violence and abuse.
And, importantly, it's Ed's decision with stede, more or less. By which I mean, Stede isn't dragging him by his ear and making him mind his p's and q's, cross his t's, and dot his i's; Stede provides him a space to embrace his softer side, encourages him to embrace it and even share it.
And Stede is far from perfect, of course; we get a whole episode to remind us that he is still, all things considered, a cis white landowning man in a very classist, patriarchal, and racist society, and he can slot back into that lifestyle of absolute privilege rather well.
But my feelings on Stede, Ed, and their dynamic is a while other post in and of itself, this is about Izzy, and, to a point, Izzy and Ed.
Izzy, like Ed, can be assumed to already come from a background of violence without being afforded the privilege of wealth and status. Izzy is white, yes, and imo it does impact his dynamics to a point when so many of the pirates we see are BIPOC, but he has presumably never had access to buffers Stede has.
Izzy had to claw his way up to a position of relative safety, and it can be assumed that at least part of that journey was side by side with Edward. And he has taken it on himself to guard both of them, to guard their safety in status, against any and everyone who would use it to their advantage.
If Izzy were truly a cold hearted brute, only out to make Ed the worst version of himself, then why has he stayed at Ed's side through what he reports to be a deteriorating state of mental health? Why do his spats with Ed feel so domestic in their way? Why can't he let Ed go? Why does he view Stede as actively dangerous to Ed's safety, and why is that a consistent motivation for him?
The characters in OFMD are deliciously complex and deep; it's a show that has a lot to say about masculine identity, especially queer masculine identity, with additional intersections, through a setting of piracy. And Idk I just feel awkward when the characters get painted with a broad brush instead of like. Idk. Rotated and examined in the mind fjskfneofj. It's a v character and relationship driven show.
Izzy is a dick, sure. And there are plenty of times where I'm like "izzy that's fucked up." But I will not be convinced that he wasn't doing what he was because he was completely convinced it was the right thing to do for the man he loved. I'm already convinced that it was a very selfish way to go about it, one that disregarded the wishes and feelings of the man he loves, but that was his motivation.
Izzy wants what he thinks is best for Edward. And what he thinks is best for Edward is not The Kraken, in his self destructive, abusive glory; what he thinks is best for Edward is Blackbeard, the fierce and deadly persona to be performed in front of others, so that Edward can be safe and guarded up above the worst of Piracy's violence, with Izzy at his side.

What connection do you think Geeta has to Area Zero? Her ace Pokémon is a Glimmora, which can only be found in Area Zero, and the league/academy was responsible for funding the professor’s research iirc.
I have... a LOT of questions about Geeta that I am really hoping the DLC clears up in some capacity
One of the most important ones in terms of this ask and just in general is exactly when she became top champion. Was it before Sada / Turo started their research-- and by extension was she in charge of / knew about the money being afforded to them? Her relation to the professors and their tera research is majorly going to affect exactly how much she knows about Area Zero and everything going on down there. I also have to wonder if she was there while Team Star was getting bullied and whether that whole situation / the entire staff leaving is relevant to how she runs the academy / conducts her relationship with the school and Clavell. But that's a rabbit hole for another time.
Anyway. On one hand you have the possibility that Geeta came in after the tera orb research is completed-- we know that the league more or less separated themselves from the professors as soon as they got the tera orb so if this is the case I wouldn't doubt that Geeta just has no fucking idea about any of the time machine stuff. This also explains why Miss Micromanagement wouldn't stick her nose into all that drama or at least try and interfere with stuff / deal with it herself. Atm I'm assuming this is the case because Geeta seems surprisingly uninvolved with anything professor wise, and her personality seems to imply she would be a little more entrenched in all the paradox nonsense if she knew about it
On the OTHER hand we have the possibility that Geeta joined before the tera research and maybe even gave the professors the money. Personally I'm not super stroked about this interpretation bc 1. it leans way farther towards the "geeta is evil" side of things, which I find particularly boring, and 2. the amnt of questions it offers gives me pause. If Geeta knew about the professors' research, it begs the question of why she wasn't hounding them / checking up on them at all. Geeta is pretty involved with / protective of Nemona and talks constantly about the future of Paldea, so her knowing about but ignoring Arven seems strange to me. It's possible she did know about the professors but that they just hid the time machine / AI really well, but honestly I'm not sold on that. Knowing Geeta, she would have bothered them / done checkups if she knew which makes me wonder why she's so disconnected from th professors even moreso than Clavell. Unless she did know and was hiding something, but again, League Chairwoman secretly evil is kinda. eh.
Anyway, I DO think she has a connection to Terapagos and Area Zero somehow, but that it may not necessarily involve the professors or anything we've seen thus far. I adore making AUs where she's more intertwined with the gods of the crater (and the status of the crater as a living thing but that's another post) and in general love exploring the idea, but as of now canon seems to be implying she either knows very little about the professors' / crater's whole Deal or she's hiding smth. I'm leaning towards the former

When the exit ramp of the shuttle opened up to you, and you were greeted with the sight of your lush, vibrant, colorful home planet, you were filled with one thing and one thing alone: dread.
It wasn't because you were upset to be home; in fact, it wasn't that in the slightest. After spending the last handful of months on the Executor, you were happy to be home again. Your planet was much more alive than any Empirical vessel could never hope to be. No matter where you looked, everything was teeming with color and vibrancy. All of the architecture was ornate and beautiful, hand-crafted by the best the galaxy had to offer. Hell, you were just simply happy to breathe fresh air for a change, and see a plant for the first time in the while, and feel the warmth of the nearby star on your skin.
You didn't dread being home. You just dreaded being home with them.
Your fiancé seemed to sense your unease when you and him made your way down the exit ramp, a few stormtroopers falling in line behind the two of you for protection. When the two of you came into view of what and who exactly was in front of you, you couldn't help but feel how your smile dropped. At the other end of the landing pad stood your mother and father, your dad waving at you in the distance while he held your mother close. Both of them looked as if they had not a care nor worry in the world. Moreso, they looked as if they weren't seeing their child after months in which they could have very well been dead. As if what they had done had been fine. It made all traces of a genuine smile fall away from your face, your eyes even dimming in the process. Vader seemed to notice this, and reached his hand down to touch the small of your back reassuringly, his mask pointed down to you. You tried to smile back at him the best you could, but even you could tell there was weariness that lingered in it.
You liked being home. You just didn't necessarily like who was waiting for you there when you arrived.
After squaring away a few things with a few officers, you and your fiance walked side by side down the runway of the landing pad to greet your parents. You tried to put on your best smile as you headed closer and closer to the couple, but it was partially in vain. You were good at faking it, but not that good. But, it would be passible. For the time being, at least.
"I sense your unease." Your fiancé rumbled next to you, making you steal a glance up at him. You were quick to realize that he was trying to be secretive about the conversation, so you looked back ahead in front of you, keeping your voice low as you responded.
"Was it that obvious?" you asked.
"Yes. Even on the way here."
You stifled out a little laugh, "Yeah, well, let's just say I don't have the best relationship with these two. I'm sorry in advance for whatever they say."
Before your fiance got to say anything in response, the two of you met up with your mother and father. To greet you alongside the customary how-are-yous and the you-look-wells, your mother pulled you in for a quick hug, as well as your father. The pair tried to greet the sith lord next to you, but not not much avail. Your father was brave enough to try and hold out his hand for a handshake, but Vader made no attempt to reciprocate the action. Instead, he stood straight ahead without a word, still as a statue as your father had to awkwardly retract his hand away. This helped you to make your smile a little more genuine that it was.
"We're so delighted to have you here, Lord Vader." Your mother chimed in, trying to break the ice with your fiance as best she could, "Especially alongside our (Y/N) here."
"It is of no trouble." He said in response; short, flat, at to the point, making you steal a glance up at him. He wasn't acting exactly like the Vader you knew. Around you, you had found that he was more wiling to say things; say longer things. You were able to hold a good, nice, back-and-forth conversation with him, and didn't struggle to figure out what to say in response. But, he was always different around others. He was a man of few words when in public, you had found. He didn't talk with much inflection, and often threw subtle insults around like it was nothing (mostly because to him, they were). Realizing this only added fuel to make your smile more genuine.
That meant he was comfortable being himself around you now. He didn't need the mask of Vader.
But thinking of such things; it made your mind wander. You knew that your fiancé was at least a decent amount of cybernetics. This never bothered you, of course, but you found yourself wondering just how much was metal under there. When you hugged him, you felt the muscles underneath his armor. You knew he was still a man, no matter what. But still, you couldn't help but wonder...
Just what did he look like under there?
Before you could think more about it, you were snapped out of your trance by the sound of your mother saying your name, making you look back over to her.
"How did you find the trip, (Y/N)?" she asked, "I hope the accommodations we sent where pleasant. For the both of you."
"Oh, yeah, they were fine." you said, flashing up a smile at the sith next to you, "It was great actually. We got some nice quality time."
Your sentiments earned a nod of approval from the sith next to you.
"Excellent!" your mother exclaimed, "We're so glad to hear!"
"Let's go inside now, yeah?" your father chimed in, "Come! We'll discuss more important matters somewhere more private! And more air conditioned!"
Your father let out a hearty laugh at his own joke as he turned on his heel, walking away alongside your mother. When their backs were turned and they were a good distance away, you let out a sigh, letting your smile drop from your face as you followed behind them. Your fiancé followed alongside you, stealing a few glances down at your annoyed, dejected face. You were glad the initial meeting went well, but maker above were you dreading the next part. If you thought that they were playing up their friendly, grandiose act now, you couldn't wait to see just how much of a show they would put on for Vader. You knew that if you were annoyed, he would most likely be annoyed already as well, or would soon share in your sentiment.
These thoughts plaguing your mind, you felt a twinge of regret bubble inside of you. You just wanted a chance for the both of you to get away, you didn't want to just make him annoyed.
Maybe you were worrying about nothing. Maybe it wasn't nothing. Who knows at this point. You just hoped your parents wouldn't be so insufferable.
"You are unsettled again." You heard Vader rumble beside you, making your lips part as you looked up into his lenses again, meeting his gaze.
"That obvious again, huh?" you asked, trying to keep somewhat of good spirits.
"There is no need for you to fret, (Y/N)." He reassured you, "Your mother and father are decent."
You let out a soft snort, "Yeah, for now at least. It won't be long before you're annoyed too."
Vader paused for a moment before speaking again, "I deal with several irritating individuals, (Y/N). I am sure that it will not be something I am unable to bear."
"Just... If you want out, just feel free to tell me. Or let me know somehow. I'm good at getting away without anyone noticing, alright?"
"As you wish."
~~~
Sitting down with your mom, dad, and fiancé was painfully awkward. Well, at the very least, it was awkward to you. You weren't sure if your parents were capable of feeling awkward, let along the stoic sith seated next to you. Your hands were in your lap, gently holding onto the teacup that you had poured for yourself to keep you occupied.
Although you had been away from home for a good while now, your parents seemed far more keen on talking to Vader rather than you. They talked almost endlessly about the Empire, and bombarded the sith with any and every question that came to mind. From trooper accommodations, to funding, to implementation of the Empire's rules, to even questions about mundane life within the Empire, they asked and asked until their heart's content. You had to hand it to your fiancé though; if he was getting annoyed by the interrogation, he wasn't showing it to well.
Perhaps he was used to it.
You were quiet as the three of them talked about all that came with joining the Empire. Joining in on the conversation was pointless. Even though you spent a good amount of time right in the heart of the Empire on the Executor, you knew you weren't as knowledgeable as he was. You'd just be a distraction from the matter at hand. But still, you tried to keep your simple, polite smile on your face, even though you felt how much it wanted to fade away when you stared down at your teacup.
Tracing your finger around the rim of the cup, you tried your best to distract yourself so you wouldn't die of boredom. Even though you knew you very well could leave if you wanted, you knew you would feel bad doing so. Leaving him behind with your dreadful parents? How cruel would that be. Alongside this, you feared just what your parents would say about you whilst your back was turned. They were known to gossip, and you didn't want a bad light to be shone on you. Especially in front of the man you were to wed.
So there you sat. In spite, and in determination.
Deep in your thoughts, you felt an odd sensation tickle against your leg. Shifting your gaze downward, you saw a heavy, black boot slowly creep its way over to your smaller shoe. It eventually rested itself next to your own, strong and sturdy and unwavering. The simple action made you flash a smile over to the man next to you, who the boot belonged to.
This was probably his way of telling you he knew. He knew how bored you were, and how you felt bad about his interrogation. And this was his way of letting you know about it.
Smug bastard.
"(Y/N)," your mother spoke eventually, making you slightly jump in your seat at the sudden use of your name, "you seem dreadfully bored over there, love."
You leaned forward to set your teacup down on the table in front of you, just in case it almost spilled again with another flinch later on, "Yeah, well, I am. It's not like I know much about this stuff."
Your mom tried to awkwardly chuckle away your snarky remark, "Well, how about a change of topic then, hm? If that's alright with you, Lord Vader?"
"If it will spare my fiancé the discomfort." he said. You smiled over at him again.
"Right, of course." your mother said, taking a sip of her tea.
"So what did you two have in mind?" Your father asked, "We want to make sure everyone's happy here, yeah?"
"Right, well..." you begun, "I think the both of us would just like something low-key. We're both in agreement that when the time comes it should just be small and intimate. It's just more special that way."
Looking over at your mother, you could see the disappointment flash in her eyes as her gaze dropped briefly to the floor before settling back onto you. This made your dart your tongue across your lips. Oh shit. You knew what was coming.
"Well, dear," your mother said, "Your father and I just want to, erm, propose something to you both; What if we were to have the ceremony here?"
You glanced over at your fiancé for a moment, but he offered no such gesture back.
"Here?" you asked.
"Yes! We can decorate the entire manner for the two of you! And we can invite the neighboring systems to-"
"Mom. No. I already said; we want something small. Just close friends and family. That's it. We can have it here, that's fine, but not some huge spectacle."
"Come now, (Y/N)!" Your father chimed in, "Don't you want to celebrate the union? Show off in front of everyone?"
You stared ahead at your parents without another word, your brow furrowing in confusion and disbelief. How... dare they. They really want to decide this for you too? Wasn't deciding just who you were going to marry enough for them? They were always like this. They didn't care about your feelings, or any of your thoughts on any matter. All they cared for was themselves. You didn't want to admit it; you had fought against the notion for so, so long now. You had always held out hope that they only did it because they wanted to keep your best interests close to heart.
But now? You didn't believe it. Not one iota. Not only because they weren't listening to you, but they also weren't listening to him. You and Vader had talked about this before. You both knew what you wanted when the time came. And for them to not honor that? After causing both you and, more importantly, him so much trouble already? They were lucky enough that the pair of you had gotten along. You could give them that, at the very least. But to overstep such a welcome? In a matter such as this?
You wouldn't have it. You wouldn't have it for him. He deserved better. And you were going to fight for that, for your marriage's sake.
Your fiance could sense your burning fury as you sat next to him, your shoulders tense and your hands squeezing into fists. He turned to point his mask down to you as you stared ahead at your mother and father, seeing how your cheeks had heated at your rage. He spoke your name softly as he lifted up his hand to you, reaching out to touch your shoulder in attempt to ground you back to a calmed state. Before he could, you let out a soft, exasperated laugh.
"Are you shitting me?" you asked your parents, making your mom's eyes widen and your father's smile fade.
"(Y/N)," your mother hissed, "don't speak to your parents in such-"
"In such a way?" you finished for her. Your anger now bubbling inside of you, you stood up rather quickly, making the ornate, dainty coffee table in front of you shudder slightly at the speed.
"Can you really even hear yourselves right now?" you questioned, "This isn't about us, it never was. It was about you. You are the ones that want to show off. You are the ones that want everyone to kiss your asses because of something you created. Do you think that's fair? Do you really? Please, both of you don't give two shits about our marriage! You only care about yourselves!"
Picking up your feet heavily, you stomped over to the doors, lingering in the doorframe for a brief moment with a sneer.
"The two of you are really the most selfish, manipulative people I've ever had the displeasure of being related to. Until you can put your filthy prides aside and honor what we both want; I want nothing to do with you. Either of you. Thanks for fucking nothing."
With that, you exited that posh, velveted room, slamming the door behind you. You could feel the tears begin to prickle in your eyes as your shoes clacked down that long, empty hall.
~~~
It wasn't until after just before sunset when your fiancé came to find you.
He could sense that you were in pain, that you felt bad about the meeting with your parents earlier. Even from all the way at the other side of your parent's estate, he could feel it. He assumed that you felt bad about your outburst, and about leaving them alone in there with your mother and father. He could understand that. And he could understand why you would resort to such measures as well. In fact, he even agreed with you. It was beyond unfair for them to try and gain control in such a way. He wanted the ceremony to be perfect. For your sake.
But that was the thing. In your words, the dark lord realized something so very intriguing to him; You weren't fighting for you, you were fighting for him. You wanted him to get what he wanted; and the fact that you wanted the same was just dumb luck.
However, this notion made him troubled. You had fought for him so, so very hard these last few days. Had he not been fighting for you? Had he not shown that he cares as much? He didn't want you to start believing as such. He did care about what happened to you.
He was just never one to verbalize it. At least, not anymore.
Perhaps that's why he felt so compelled to check on you. That alongside the fact that your anguish was strong. Strong enough to ripple the force around you, without you even being sensitive to it. He could feel just how hurt you were, and feeling you in such pain...
He felt that pain too.
It didn't take him long to find your room. In fact, he didn't have to ask anywhere where it was. All the sith had to do was follow the trail of your emotion through the force. He knew he was heading in the right direction when he felt that feeling grow stronger. Once he felt that it as at it's peak, the dark lord was greeted with two long, sturdy wooden doors, with two members of your home planet's royal guard perched out front. The two men made no effort to stop the sith from walking up close to the doors; seemingly knowing just who the dark lord was, other than as your fiancé. Vader paused outside of the entrance for a moment, leaning in his armored head close to the crack between the wooden slats. He listened intently, trying to gauge just what exact state you were in before he entered.
Nothing. You made not one peep from inside of your room.
Even though most people would walk away at this, assuming that you just weren't in there, Vader did nothing of the sort. He knew you were in there. He could feel it, and he was certain. And because of this, he didn't hesitate to take action. Slowly, he lifted up his mechanical digits to the wood in front of him, striking them against the surface a few times to signal he was outside. After a breif pause, he heard your voice from inside; quiet and weary, and almost unsure.
"Come in."
With your permission, the dark lord opened up the doors to your room and stepped in, making sure to close them behind him. You were sat upon your bed, legs dangling off the edge of the mattress as you hugged one of your pillows to your chest. Your eyes were slightly red and puffy, telling him silently that you had been crying not long ago. Despite your weary state, you smiled up at the sith, sniffling as you used your wrist to wipe away any tears that may still be visible.
"I'm glad it's you." you said. "I was wondering when you'd show up."
The dark lord took a few steps closer to you. As he did, you scooted yourself over moreso to the edge of your bed, silently inviting him to sit next to you. He did as such, the wood of the bedframe groaning beneath him at his weight as he turned his body to face yours.
"Are you alright?" he asked.
You breathed out a little laugh as you shrugged, your gaze faltering to the floor for a brief moment before returning to the lenses of his mask, "I'll be okay. It's just... I didn't expect them to do that. I mean, maybe deep down I did, but... I don't know. Maybe I overreacted. I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to be ashamed of, (Y/N)." your fiancé reassured, "I concur with your sentiments. It is unfair of them to proceed with such... measures."
You let out a soft giggle, and the dark lord could feel a sense of pride well in his chest at being able to make you smile in a time like this.
"You have a funny way of talking, yknow." you said.
"Is that so?"
You nodded, "Don't stop, though. I like it. It's very you."
Without another word, Vader and you stared at one another, the dark lord making note of the soft smile on your lips. The sith had to admit; he had always found you attractive. Your features had complimented your personality exceptionally well, and you were fierce. He liked that about you. And, in all honesty, you were still attractive, even when upset. Even earlier, when you were angry, you were still beautiful to him. Not only because of your appearance, but because of simply just you. You were a perfect amalgamation of the best characteristics of everyone he had ever loved in the past.
So, to him, it wasn't hard for him to admit:
he was falling for you. He could feel it.
And the way you looked at him?
He could feel you shared the same sentiments.
Vader was the one to break the silence between the two of you, his gaze still transfixed upon your face.
"Your parents wished for me to inform you of tonight's festivities. They stated that there will be a... get-together, as they put it."
With a roll of your eyes and a long groan, you flopped yourself backward onto your mattress, brining up one hand to clasp over your brow as you closed your eyes.
"Ugghhh, that means they invited everyone and their grandmother here!" you stated, "Of course they'd do that now, of course!"
Amused at your display, Lord Vader stood up from off your mattress, taking a few steps over to the door to linger in its frame as he spoke again to you.
"It will begin in about one hour. I shall see you there."
All you did in response is lift up one of your arms, giving the sith a tumbs-up as you rubbed your headache away.
~~~
About an hour after your fiance left you, you started to hear the faint, distant rumble of the guests filing in to the main corridor of your parent's manor. You took this as your cue to get up off of your bed; and furthermore to stop your pity-party and join the real party. Pushing yourself off of the plush mattress and sheets, you padded your feet over to your full-length mirror, slipping on your shoes along the way. Once you were a good distance away from the glass, you gazed at your reflection as you smoothed out your clothes, using your fingers to comb through your hair.
Although it had been a fair while since the events prior, you were still bitter. You weren't necessarily mad anymore; you had never been the type to stay mad for too long. Too much of a headache. But still, you were bitter. And you had every right to be. Staring ahead at yourself, you were reminded of just everything your parents had ever done to you. The times they put you aside for their own gain, to the times they didn't even bother listening to your thoughts to begin with. Perhaps that's exactly why they had you. They wanted another thing to show off. Seeing as you were about a year younger than the other nobles' children, your theory had weight to it. Your parents had seen them have something they didn't, and couldn't tolerate it.
A frown made its way across your lips.
Fuck them.
They had never given a shit about what you had to say, so why should you? Why did you have to listen to what they said? Make accomodations for them? Give away what both you and him want for them?
That was the thing. You were an adult now. You didn't have to. And they knew that. That was exactly why they were trying so desperately to control you now. It was sick.
And it was also exactly what he didn't do.
He never tried to control you. Not once. At the very most, he would lay out all the facts about a situation in front of you. But he let you choose what you wanted to do. Being with him was freedom. And that's where your parents had failed. They did just what they didn't want to do; give you free will.
And perhaps that was why you felt your heart swell whenever you looked upon the sith lord these days; and why you came up with a plan.
~~~
Vader had began to wonder if you would ever show up. He knew he was terribly out of place in the middle of that corridor, looming over the other guests dressed in posh, intricate clothing in his usual pitch-black armor. the candlelight of the hallway was beautiful, as well as all the décor and refreshments that lined the walls and spirals. But, most certainly to the sith, the people in it were not. He was smack-dab in the middle of all the incessant chatter. And frankly, he was getting rather sick of it. His presence stuck out so much that the nobles had taken it upon themselves to try and drum-up conversation with the sith. He would have none of it, and used his intimidation to drive them away.
However, he knew he could only do this for so long. Eventually, he knew people would get more brave after seeing he wasn't in the mood for killing anyone that evening. Lord Vader was a patient man, but not that patient. But, he knew having you around would make it all the more bearable. You were the perfect distraction for him. Perhaps he could even have fun if you were here with him.
Keeping that notion in mind, one could only imagine the relief the dark lord felt as he saw your smaller form push through the crowd, a look of determination in your eyes. He noticed how a few of the people tried to talk to you, but also noticed how you politely slipped away as quick as possible. You were on a mission to get to the sith at the other end of the room.
And it was quite amusing.
Eventually, you were able to push and maze through enough people to get to the dark lord. You smoothed your clothes as soon as you came within conversation distance between yourself and Vader, your cheeks slightly reddened from your efforts. Vader noticed that look in your eyes as you stared into the lenses of his mask. That determination.
He quite liked that look.
"You are late." was all the said to you, placing his large, mechanical hands upon his belt. He watched as you playfully rolled your eyes, crossing your arms over your chest.
"Yeah, I am." you said.
"I was beginning to wonder if-"
"Do you like parties?"
The dark lord was taken aback by your sudden question. At first, he thought it was your attempt at a joke. But, as he studied your face, and saw that same look in your eyes, he quickly realized you were serious. He stiffened his shoulders at this, tilting his head to the side.
"I... no. I do not." he said.
You breathed out a smile, "Good, I don't either."
The dark lord kept his gaze on your frame as you took a step closer to him, standing next to him shoulder-to-shoulder. You leaned in close to the sith, standing on your tip-toes to try and reach his height better. Meeting you halfway, the dark lord allowed himself to lean down to you.
"Do you see that big, fancy vase over there?" you asked him, pointing in the direction of the furnishing. Following your gesture, Vader gave you a nod.
"Yes."
"Good." you continued, standing flat on your feet again as you looked back up at him, "You have that, like, magic hand-thingy right? That lifts up objects and does the mind tricks and all that?"
Vader tilted his armored head at you again, "The force?"
"Yeah, that. You use that, right?"
"Yes, I do. (Y/N), I do not see how this is-"
"I want you to explode that vase with it."
Vader could feel how his shoulders stiffen at your demands. You wanted him to do what?
"(Y/N), I do not think that is wise." he stated.
"Why not?" you asked.
"There is no need for that. If you wish to see a display of the force, I will show you at another time."
You let out a little groan at him "Come on, Vee! Please?"
You took a little step closer to him again, reaching out your hands to his. The sith watched as your little fingers wrapped themselves around his palms. Your hands were gentle against his, and Vader's gaze lifted from them to your face as he felt you squeeze against him.
"Just trust me, alright?" you spoke, just loudly enough for him to hear with a smile. The dark lord stared down at you for a long while, studying your face. That look of determination still hadn't left your eyes. However, looking further, he saw something more.
Hope.
Maker above, how pretty you were. How could he possibly say no to such a face?
Eventually, the dark lord gave you a nod.
"Very well." he rumbled out to you, watching as your smile grew at his agreement. You stepped out of his way as he looked over to the vase in question, feeling how your hands slipped out of his. Dipping his armored chin down in focus, Vader reached out with the force around him, bending it to his will. Within a few moments, he had done as you asked, seeing how you flinched in his peripheral vision as the vase shattered into a million pieces.
In the fallout, the nobles in the room had all turned their attention to the scene, and began chattering away as they interrogated one another about what had happened. The dark lord looked down to you as the commotion filled the air, seeing as how your smile grew as you scanned over the crowd.
"Alright, that's it!" you exclaimed.
"What do you mean?"
"Come on, let's get out of here." you said to him, looking up to the dark lord as your smile widened.
The sith tilted his head to the side again, "What-"
"Come on!" you pleaded again, "While they're distracted!"
Quickly, you reached your hand down to the dark lord's own, grabbing one with haste. Vader watched as you begun to speed off in the opposite direction of the crowd, keeping him in-tow as you quickened your pace. The sith had to walk rather briskly to keep up with how fast you were, his cape fluttering behind him as he kept his eyes on your back. Your hand firmly wrapped around his, you were nearly running as you led your fiancé to the large opening in the rear of the corridor, a giggle escaping your lips as you pulled him into the lush, green grass of the outdoors.
~~~
Although it had probably only been a few minutes since you had first enacted your scheme, to the dark lord, it felt like seconds.
Within a few flashes of a few moments with his hand within yours, you had quickly led the sith far, far away from the venue of the party. Even if the party had been to celebrate the two of you with the other neighboring systems, you surely didn't seem to care. You didn't look back once, you were steady in your tredge forward. And for being so small compared to him, shit did you have some stamina. You had been nearly running this whole time now, with a rather large sith lord dragged behind you. Lord Vader was impressed.
Eventually, you let go of the sith's hand, quickening your run into a sprint as you let out a laugh. Vader lingered behind you, walking as a steady pace as he watched you frolic in the scene around the pair of you. With the faint, distant sound of music in the background, you had led yourself and your fiancé into a large, spacious opening; a meadow. Although it had been quite dark due to the fall of night, the bioluminescence of the flowers and lightning bugs around the area gave off plenty of light, coupled with the shine of the two moons in the sky. the meadow was outlined with large, thick treeline, and beyond them tall mountains and waterfalls.
The dark lord could hear the rustle of the leaves and grass as he pushed through across the space, feeling how his boots made the fauna below fluff beneath his weight. His hands on his belt, the dark lord watched as you ran through all the flowers and grass, hearing how you laughed at your amusement.
So this had been your scheme all along. Have him create a diversion for the crowd, so you could slip away unnoticed. How clever you were for this. The sith found himself wondering if you had used that tatic before.
Although he wasn't ever one to do such a thing himself, he could commend you on your efforts. He was glad that you had come up with such a thing, even. He was getting rather tired of the party anyway. And this place you picked out; it was beautiful. Lord Vader didn't get to see such luxuries very often. Had you had this place in mind the entire time? Did you happen to stumble upon it just not? Or perhaps, was this a place you often frequented in your youth? Vader found it rather endearing to think of every possibility. And, even more endearing that you had thought of him during this possibility.
Even though you were a good distance away from him, the sith felt so close to you. It had been a long, long time since he had allowed himself to let his guard down like this. Looking back, the last time was probably Mustafar. Just before the duel. When she had tried to convince him to come home again. Thinking about it now, she had been right. He should have gone back home. Perhaps things would have gone a lot differently for him. He would be the master he always wanted to be. They would've had their baby. He would've been a father. He would still have her, his brother, and his sister by his side. That's what should have happened.
But, gazing over at your form, hearing your laugh across that beautiful, lush meadow, Lord Vader had found himself puzzled.
If that was what should have been his fate, why was he grateful that it hadn't been? It was what he wanted, wasn't it? So why?
The dark lord watched as you turned around to him, waving one of your arms in the air with a big, giddy grin on your face as you slowed your run to a stop. Your chest was heaving from all your activity, but you were still not slowed in the slightest. You were calling out to him; calling out the nickname you had given him, telling him to hurry up and catch up to you. He gave you a nod in response, and watched as you turned back in the opposite direction.
As you waved over to him, you had apparently not been conscious of just where you had been stepping. Suddenly, you had tripped over something in the grass, and were knocked down off your feet in an instant, leaving you lying in the grass.
Concern washing over him, the dark lord quickened his pace over to you. You hadn't moved in that brief time since you fell and when Vader had made his way up to you, and it made him worry? Had you hurt yourself? Were you able to walk still? Did you hit your head?
Taking a knee next to your body, Vader looked down at you as he reached his hand out, placing in on your shoulder and giving it a light shake.
"(Y/N)?" he asked, a hint of worry in his baritone voice, "Are you alright?"
Lingering his hand on your frame a second longer, Vader could feel the light buzz that eminated from out of your chest. Swiftly, you turned over to lay on your back, a big, dopey smile on your features as you laughed up at him, your hands reaching up and settling on his shoulders and upper arms.
"I can't believe you fell for that!" you exclaimed breathlessly in between your laughs, small tears beginning to prickle at the edges of your eyes from your amusement.
Vader should have been mad. He was never one for jokes as such. He should have scolded you for attempting to worry him in such a way, all for the sake of your own humor. But he didn't. He couldn't even. The way you smiled up at him, your eyes filled with pure, raw joy as you laughed. From the sound of it, this was probably the first time you had laughed so hard in a good, long while. You needed it. And frankly, he was glad. Glad that he could be there to supply you with such a thing.
And, he had to admit. It was a little funny. And your laugh was rather contagious. So much so, that you had shocked the dark lord hovering above you.
Without him even realizing it, Lord Vader could feel how from behind his mask, his own lips had turned ever so slightly upward at the sound of your giggles. As quickly as it came, it faded away; mostly due to his utter shock that it had been there in the first place.
He had smiled.
When was the last time he had done that? Genuinely?
He couldn't remember. Not with any certainty. That old, foreign gesture had been lost to time, long long ago.
Kneeling there next to you, feeling your hands upon his body as you rode out your giggles, Vader was faced with his question from earlier. Why didn't his fate end up the way it should have? Who was to blame for that? Was it himself? Was it his master? Was it the order?
No. It was nothing of the sort.
As time stood still around himself and his fiancé, Lord Vader came upon the truth.
Way back then, he didn't get what he wanted. He didn't get the rank of master. He didn't get the girl. He didn't get the life with her. He didn't get his friends. And for a long while, Lord Vader had thought the story ended there. That his life really was a tragedy, one to be told around campfires for years to come to warn of the misfortune of bad decisions and the coercion of the dark side.
But none of that was true.
For fate had been kind to him all this time. Fate did not give Anakin Skywalker what he wanted. It gave him what he needed.
You.
Every mistake he ever made, every lie he ever told and every heart he ever broke; they were never in vain. All of them were just one piece in the puzzle that led to you.
You were his chosen one all along. No one else.
Faced with this fact, staring at your beautiful, gorgeous face, only one thought passed through the sith lord's mind. Quiet, only loud enough for a fleeting memory to hear.
Thank you, Padme. Obi-Wan. Ashoka. Mother.
Goodbye.
Since u've already had the topic a few times abt the way the framing in totk is. Here's another one: It feels moreso than in botw, like everyone is acting AT Link, instead of INTERACTING with him. It's like Link is there, but he barely is ever really acknowledged. Even when others talk to him, they just talk AT him. It worked more in botw maybe bc the entire game was built around Link being "new" in the world. But in totk you're meeting Link's "friends" and it just feels sterile, and like Link doesn't matter.
I think one of the issues of TotK's storytelling in general is that it often gets really busy explaining contrived lore that never really deepens the world or the characters and their relationship, and that a lot of cutscenes (in the main quest, I think sidequests are infinitely better at this and makes the world feels more lived-in) are focused on re-explaining the status quo, restating things that just happened or making strange connections between unrelated events to tell the player it's time to go from point X to point Y (thinking of the Zora questline, which got a looot of those).
So I agree that it ends up being a looot of telling, without a whole lot of showing, and even less playing (= here I mean playing as in, doing gameplay actions that are meaningful to the story, character development or themes). And Link do end up taking the blunt of it.
(the widespread use of his little "explaining" animation was kind of a huge indicator to me that maybe this game is a little too focused on re-explaining things that just happened and aren't that complicated or interesting for its own good, while also not following up on the new developments re: Fake Zelda and Dragon Zelda in a organic and revelatory way, among other things)
What are your top five "they either would or should put 'It's Complicated' as their relationship status" ships for Star Wars?
iofjgdfijs OH GOD I feel like a lot of my ships would do that but hmm my top??
(in no specific order tho)
Quinlan/Obi-Wan: this one may seem weird as an "it's complicated" but I think that Quinlan and Obi-Wan probably live in this weird in between world of "we are madly in love with each other" and "we are platonic soulmates/heterosexual life partners" (like the trope not that either of them are straight lol). They're exclusive and they're open. They keep falling in love with pretty girls who could murder them. They have semi-successfully co-parented two children together into knighthood.
Rex/Ventress: oh man I have been thinking about this ship in the back of my mind since you first starting sharing those "romance protag" videos dfijssiths. they are mortal enemies they are allies of circumstance they are both being held back by their lives even when they are feeling like they are doing the right thing they are also probably making out in the middle of a hostage situation when ventress is supposed to be interrogating rex and they are both angry about it afterwards.
Mandocule: (mainly thinking of Boba/Din/Fennec/Luke/sometimes Cobb but others too) I think polycules always make things a little complicated (I say as a polyam person) but especially when you have like... several bounty hunters, two of which turned community leaders, a former son of a "smuggler"/rebel turned Jedi, and a former slave turned sheriff, and it just gets... so chaotic. Especially when you consider the amount of trauma, daddy issues, mommy issues, and more this group has collectively, and they are all trying to co-parent a baby jedi who is older than the majority of them. All of them are probably wanted criminals on at least one planet.
Cody/Anakin: while I do think that they could have an actual "we talked it out" relationship, I think what is almost more likely for them specifically is that... lmao they wouldn't. They are both kinda sleeping with a superior/subordinate. They are butting heads all the time but kind of obsessed with each other. They would kill for each other but also might team up to kill Obi-Wan because he is driving them nuts. They both have extreme little brother energy and have both been usurped by a babier sibling that they are suddenly in charge of (Rex and Ahsoka). They both are a lot deeper than they give the other credit for, and they probably only really figure this out after they've already started fucking.
Padme/Sabe: I wasn't going to put this one on the list originally but the more I thought about it the more I realized it is up there even though I don't talk about it often. It's got so much good potential for juicy undefined tropes. Sabe is literally Padme's bodyguard/knight to her Queen, even moreso than Anakin is. She is hopelessly devoted to her and would do anything for her, and Padme is the same back but is also the one actually in a position of power and is extremely important to society. They're in love and have probably been in love since they were kids, even if Padme marries Anakin. And Duty would hold them back in a way it wouldn't for a lot of other ships in star wars. Their love is always there in the background!
this took me way too long to do but it was so much fun thank u nixy
