Commander Pre-Con Recommendations

My 13-year-old really wants to teach one of their stepbrothers how to play Magic: the Gathering for Christmas, specifically playing Commander.

Their mom asked me if I had any suggestions of two pre-constructed Commander decks that play well against each other, but honestly it’s been a while since I kept up with new Magic sets and decks.

Do any of you awesome nerds in the MTG community have any recommendations I could pass along?

Just saw your tags on the vr game thing, phyrexian dnd campaign??? 👀👀👀👀👀 I'm beyond jealous ;^;

Yeahhh!!!! It's a campaign I've been running since November of 2020! It's set in Scars block and is mostly intrigue with some combat/action, centering a mixed group of Phyrexians and humanoids allied with neither side of the war who are just trying to make their way through a changed world.

Most recently, the party found Urabrask's hiding place, where he fled to after Sheoldred found out the Furnace's secret of compassion and started blackmailing him out of power (a secret that a former double agent in the party provided her). They're slowly managing to convince Urabrask that their goals of freedom align with his, and are traveling with him and his small entourage of furnace priests and warriors.

There are also a bunch of wild side plots including Jin keeping his dead sister's remains in Lumengrid to scry off of, and Glissa, the mom of one of the PCs, creating Kaldra Compleat in the background of all this. One time a PC nearly got themselves killed by knocking on the trunk of the tree where Vorinclex was sleeping. It's a great time.

Funniest thing about my oc Klaus is that he has a childhood friend named Kenzie Harper, they grew up together, she was a little bigger and older, and protected him from bullies. But see she always had a huge crush...on Klaus's parents.

He always hated that as much as he loves her.

i defo mean no hate those that do go get singing lessons (or any other lessons that variety such as dancing or skating etc) but whenever i think about doing one or two to see if i can actually sing bc i either get a “woah you got pipes” or a “please for the love of god stop” response to singing i think back to that one quinton qoute of “ariana grande sounds like she can sing and victoria wood sounds like she has a good vocal coach”

Dovin Baan is not CisHet, but he is homophobic.

homophobia does not exist in the mtg multiverse by Word Of God, but i dont care. i believe with my whole heart that dovin baan is homophobic. theres like a 99% chance that he has gay parents (in kaladeshi vedalken culture a marriage 2-4 people) and he still hates gay people. homophobic dovin baan is so real to me.

WIBTA for sending the guy who my ex-fiance cheated on me with a constant stream of MTG cards? Okay so clarification here. As of this year my (29M) several year long relationship with my ex fiancé (31M) at the hands of my now ex best friend (32M) had ended. This occurred over a dispute concerning my rather unaccepting parents & the stressors my job had put on me. Everything had picked up & the ex friend feigned sympathy while he closed the gap between him & my now ex while I was busy & sorting my life out.

It was a really ugly falling out about two weeks after I had mailed the ring off to my ex's country. As we were long distance.

But before all of this this ex friend pressured me to buy him an 80+ something USD deck for MTG off of Amazon. Since we shared the same hobby. Him & I would buy each other stuff all the time so this was fairly normal but one thing to note was that I forgot to clear his information off of my Amazon.

Months passed & I got an idea seeing it again as I updated my information. See, there's a card called "Cheatyface" & I am sure you all can see what I was trying to get at here. But I know the ex friend ordered off of this one cardgame website & the card itself is like a dollar at most. & I know for a fact that if I were to put in his address & name it would be as if he ordered it without my name attached.

Now normally I would write this off as something juvenile but it had come to my attention by a mutual friend that my ex & my ex best friend had been touting around a recording of me that was taken & shared without my consent or knowledge. There are some legal ramifications here & I do in fact have proof but being in the financial situation I am in, I cannot pursue this at this time. On top of this both of them have been following my every move across social media. Something that my ex has a history with & has been a source of squabbling between us in the past as I have had a history of being stalked & it made me very uneasy.

But the idea has been sounding more & more appealing as my ex & my ex friend have been consistently finding me across different websites even under different names & usernames. I am heavily considering just buying a "Cheatyface" every two or so weeks for a little while & have it sent to the ex-friend's house. Especially since he buys off of that website anyway. It wasn't like I acquired the address through or for shady means but I know this definitely skirts a line. But at this point I just want to strike back somehow. I don't intend harm but just to be annoying but I really worry. WIBTA?

Tamlin who had to lash his friend Lucien 20x UTM after begging for Lucien's life. And all because Lucien tried to defend Feyre.

Tamlin who had to wear a physical mask for 50 years and have his powers reduced, and be haunted by his people and his fellow citizens kidnapped and living UTM.

Tamlin who such a progressive ruler that the Lords, who wanted things the same way as his father, fled the court rather than serve him.

Tamlin who gets called a conservative, archaic, punitive leader for collecting a Tithe (which is just another word for Taxes). Yet, we don't get to see how Rhysand collects his revenue and tax funds, but we do know they slums in Velaris and a group of people who are segregated and forced to live under a mountain, never seeing daylight.

Tamlin who listened to Feyre as she asked if SHE was just going to be called "Tamlins wife?..." He didn't respond in a misogynistic way. He actively listened to her & asked her if she 'wanted a title'? Then she stated her concerns, and he responded to her concerns by reassuring her that there was no such thing as a High Lady. Not that there NEVER would be or no berating of any sort.

Tamlin who blew up a room with Feyre in it. Who immediately apologized and tried to fix it with time and gifts and apologies. Who now is deemed an abuser by Fandom, despite, canonically speaking the blowing up of magic in stressful situations is a standard action throughout the series and universes. (TOG Dorian Wall, CC Bryce Interrogation Room, Feyre HL Mtg-injured Lady of Autumn Court a bystander, CC Rhysand Nestas home- Could have killed Bryces mortal parents). The second time he erupted was an intentional misuse and riling of this form of magic. Also note he had just regained his powers. And acts like this have a higher liklihood at the onset of magic.

Tamlin who woke up one morning to his home being invaded by Rhysand. While Feyre was still naked and in bed. A PTSD moment for sure, after the last time Tam woke to find Rhys at his bedroom door was right after his family had been murdered. Rhys then insinuated that he needed better enhancements on his property (low blow) but one that also caused paranoia, trauma, and fear...of Feyres safety in his own home and only escalated drastic measures to break the bargain.
