I still think it’s so fucking funny that Party of Words was like “yeah we need to watch these two guys who might be a threat to the government later. I know! Why don’t we send the most emotionally unstable one of the clones that we manipulate and abuse! Nothing bad could possibly happen!" AJSDHASKDKJ

Siege - Drop Dead
Grind Value: ♡♡♡♡♡
OwO Value: ♡♡♡♡ (hard to be fresh when you're the pioneer of the sound >w< yet the artful "Grim Reaper" bumps this score up)
Rating: ♡♡♡♡♡
Fav: Life of Hate, Conform, Grim Reaper
Least Fav: Sad But True
~
As the first review after my long hiatus, I decided to get around to finally listening to Siege. It's honestly sacrilege that I haven't already listened to the pioneers of my favorite sound but better late than never I suppose ^w^
I was... not at all disappointed. I listened to the 1994 release because I wanted the original full length presentation. Drop Dead was a hecc of an opener. I personally would have placed conform in the Track 1 spot to add more structure to the album but either way it rocks. It sets a good template for the "Grind Punk" powerviolence sound that lives on today.
The chorus and whirring guitars get stuck in your head. Followed by possibly the best track on the album: Conform. That low bass intro sets the mood as single-file the other band mates join in. "Monkey see, Monkey do..." such anger exudes from this track to the point it feels like its me personally who is being addressed. It's nasty.
The vocalist Kevin Mahoney has this unique vocal style present throughout the album. It's like a struggle in his neck being vocalized. Very growly punk vocals.
The next track: Life of Hate, is a heccing anti-bigot anthem! which is odd considering for a brief stint Seth Putnam(*spit*) was the band's vocalist. Starvation, Armageddon, Cold War, and Walls are all really solid anti-war tracks. "We demand change! stop this senseless violence, feed us feed us!" they all cry out.
The sound of the band would hint toward nihilism, but nihilism with a hint of hope. A yearning for a better future. Don't conform to hate-war life. Sad But True is the only track on the album that I didn't really like, it's not at all bad but it didn't stick out as much as the others. Standard punk romp.
Then... Grim Reaper. "Docter laid a doosie on my head today.."
It's.. listening to this track is like being eaten from the inside. I feel so hopeless and afraid as my walls melt to the sound of Kevin's saxophone and the odd ambience of it all. The echoes, the deep bass, it all eats away at you. a 7 minute behemoth of a track tinged in artful pleas for life. A monster, an absolute monster.
It was so fun getting back into this, I plan to be stuck in it for the long hall reviewing all the musix uwu till next time

Iggy Pop - Loves Missing
Iggy Pop gives us a little masterpiece #LovesMissing, reminds me of David Bowie, a bit of grunge rock, the sadness of a single at Christmas, a dark cellar, anguish, mystery. :)

Forget being a dog person or a cat person. Are you a “I’d rather deal with the scorching summer than deal with any temperature below 60 degrees” person, or a “I’d rather deal with the frigid winter than deal with any temperature above 80” person?
